Dorothy M. Schwab, 93
Dorothy “Dolly”' M. (Spielvogel) Schwab, 93, of Rideout
Farm, Captain Clark Road, Wilton, N.H., formerly of Clinton,
died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 at home.
Her husband of 60 years, Albert Schwab, died in 1990. She
leaves two sons, Richard E. Schwab, with whom she lived,
and John Schwab of Waxshaw, N. C.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-
grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, W. Robert Schwab,
died in 1990. Three sisters, Hazel Bosk of Fitchburg, Ethel Roberts
of New Jersey, and Myrtle Baker of North Carolina, and three
brothers, Chester Spielvogel of Southbridge, Walter Spielvogel of
Clinton, and Harold Spielvogel of Oakham, predeceased her. She
was born in Clinton, daughter of Joseph F. and Alexine (Kanis)
Spielvogel, and lived in Burlington, Mass., before moving to Wilton.
She graduated from Clinton High School in 1925.
Mrs Schwab worked at Bigelow Carpet Carpet Co., Clinton,
prior to getting married.
The funeral service was held at Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the
Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., Fitchburg. Burial was in
Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton.

William S. Marsinsik, 85
William S. Marsinsik, 85, of 40 Walnut St., Clinton, died
Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001 at his home, after an illness.
He leaves six nephews and five nieces. Two brothers and
three sisters predeceased him. He was born in Clinton, son of John
and Justina (Nicewicz) Marcinczyk, and attended Clinton
Schools.
Mr. Marsinsik worked more than 50 years for Davis Orchard,
retiring in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of Jasna Gora
Church.
The memorial Mass was held Monday, Oct. 15, in Our
Lady of Jasna Gora Church, 124 Franklin St. Burial was private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Jasna Gora
Church, 124 Franklin St., Clinton, MA 01510. M.A. Simard & Son
Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster, directed arrangements.

Elizabeth M. Morrill, 94
Elizabeth M. (Thompson) Morrill, 94, of 320 Harvard Road,
Lancaster, formerly of 140 High St., Acton, died Saturday, May 12, 2001
in River Terrace Healthcare Center after an illness.
Her husband, Arthur H. Morrill, died in 1973. She leaves
two sons, Robert B. Morrill of Westfield and Arthur H. Morrill Jr.
of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Ann B. Paszko of Lancaster,
with whom she lived; eight grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren;
many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was born in Concord, daughter of Eugene and Ann
(Flaberry) Thompson, and lived many years in Acton before moving
to Lancaster in 1986. She graduated from Maynard High School and the
MacDowell School of Fashion Design in Boston. She owned and operated
a dress making business for many years. She taught dress making
and tailoring at the Adult Education Program in Waltham for
several years.
She was a member of the Iron Works Historical Society of Acton
and the Emerson Hospital Guild.
The funeral was held Tuesday, May 15, from Robert J.
McNally Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, with a Mass at
Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester. Burial
was in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Maynard.

Alice G. Burnam, 75
Alice G. Burnam, 75, of 617 Mill St. Extension, Lancaster, a
retired production supervisor, died Friday, May 11, 2001 at home after an
illness.
She leaves a brother, Clayton A. Burnam, with whom she lived; a
sister, Dorothy Ortiz of Corona, Calif.; many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Lancaster, daughter of Arthur L. and Mildred E.
(Veinot) Burnam, and graduated from Lancaster High School. Miss
Burnam was production supervisor many years at H.H. Scott Co. in
Maynard before retiring.
She was a member of First Church of Christ, Unitarian. She
enjoyed watercolor painting and gardening. A graveside service was
held Tuesday, May 15, in Eastwood Cemetery. Donations may be made
to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA
01701.

Francis L. Gleason Sr., 56
Francis L. Gleason Sr., 56, of 64 Marlboro Road, Berlin, died Saturday,
May 12, 2001 in UMass Memorial Medical Center — University Campus,
Worcester, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He leaves three sons, Warren Gleason of Princeton, Francis Gleason
of Millbury, and Michael Gleason, of Berlin, owner of Michael’s
Bridge Diner in Lancaster, and with whom he lived; two daughters,
Francene Gleason of Clinton, and Wanda Pane of Hubbardston; his
former wife, Sandra A. (Cooper) Wilson of Clinton; a sister, Sandy
Newton of Groveton, N.H.; six grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews. He was born in Barton, Vt., son of Alberta Gleason, and
lived many years in Berlin.
Mr. Gleason operated a farm and garden stand in Berlin. He previously
owned and operated Frank’s Tree Service more than 20 years,
and had worked on a farm in Vermont. He was an avid outdoorsman.
He held many state titles for weight lifting and arm wrestling.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, in
United Church, 109 Haskell Ave., Clinton. Burial will be private in
North Cemetery. Robert J. McNally Funeral Home, Clinton, is directing
arrangements. Donations may be made to United Church, 109 Haskell
Ave., Clinton, MA 01510.

Doris M. Laney, 81
Doris M. (Morey) Laney, 81, of 1237 Central St., Leominster,
formerly of Lancaster and Clinton, died Thursday, May 10, 2001 in River
Terrace Healthcare Center, Lancaster, after an illness.
Her husband, Robert G. Laney, died in 1995. She leaves a
son, Robert G. Laney Jr. of Lancaster; three daughters, Cynthia La-
Fountaine of Hyannis, Gayle Welvaert of Clinton and Pamela Laney
of Leominster, with whom she lived; eight grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Carole Czepiel,
died in 1997. She was born in Clinton, daughter of Charles and Mary
E. (McNamara) Morey, and lived here most of her life. She graduated
from Clinton High School. Mrs. Laney worked at Colonial Press for
30 years and later was an assembler at ITT Suprenant before retiring.
She was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Church.
The funeral was held Monday, May 14, from Philbin-Comeau
Funeral Home, with a Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union
St. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Priscilla F. Jewett, 81
Priscilla F. (Jackson) Jewett, 81, of Woodward Avenue, Berlin,
the first female selectman in Berlin, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at her
home after an illness.
Her husband, F. Walter Jewett, died in 1953. She leaves a son,
Bradford A. Jewett of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Linda P. Shute
of Leicester and Ellen L. Jewett Onorato of Vero Beach, Fla.; three
sisters, Elsie B. Sibal of Clinton, Rachel M. Corman of Lancaster and
Rizpah M. Warbin of West Boylston; a granddaughter; nephews and
nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Brittan A. and Florence
E. (Felton) Jackson. She graduated from Becker College.
Mrs. Jewett worked at White and Bagley Company, Worcester,
for 21 years. She received the Lions Club Citizen of the Year Award for
1993-1994. She was the first female selectman in Berlin from 1967-
1970. She was on the Board of Registrars from 1956 to 1985, a cemetery
commissioner, on the Finance Committee, the board of directors of
the Berlin Retirement Home in 1980, the co-chair of the Berlin Sesqui-
centennial 1962 and Berlin town clerk from 1956 to 1965. She was
also a member of the Berlin Grange, a former member of the PTA, the
Tuesday Club, the Women’s Guild of the First Parish Church of Berlin,
the Berlin unit of the Salvation Army and the 4-H Council.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 12, in the First Parish
Church of Berlin. Private burial will be at a later date. Memorial
contributions may be made to Coop Elder Services, Inc., Action Site,
2352 Main St., Concord, MA 01742. Merrill-Carleton Funeral
Home, 1 Pleasant St., Hudson, directed arrangements.
