ORANGE — Funeral services for Eldon R. Harvey, 56, of 17 New Athol Rd., were held Tuesday, June 13, 2000 in Witty's Funeral Home.
The Rev. Mark Bariloni of the Athol - Orange Baptist Church officiated. Janet Paoletti was the organist and Theresa Bergquist was soloist.
Burial was in South Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Bowers, Steve Bonk, Paul Starkey, Reed Allen, Ed Buono, John Donohoe, David Harvey, Paul Maroni and David Oram.
Virginia Q. Hack
GREENFIELD — Virginia Q. (Quinby) Hack, 83, of 51 Hillcrest Dr., died Friday, June 9, 2000 in the Farren Care Center in Montague City.
Among her survivors is a daughter, Dorothy Clare Green of Warwick.
Stephen A. Hue
WINCHENDON — Stephen A. Hue, 55, of 46 Juniper St., died Saturday, June 10, 2000 in the Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after being stricken ill in his home.
He was an avid singer and a member of the Singing Men of Athol and sung in church choirs and civic groups for many years.
Bertha M. Smith
TEMPLETON — Bertha M. (Clement) Smith, 87, formerly of 22 Wellington Rd., died Saturday, June 10, 2000 in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, after an illness.
Her husband, John H.S. Smith, died Dec. 29, 1997.
She was a nurse at Athol Memorial Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1963.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Templeton, and collected antiques.

Eldon R. Harvey; Co - owned E&S Development
ORANGE — Eldon R. Harvey, 56, of 17 New Athol Rd., died Saturday, June 10, 2000 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after a brief illness from complications due to a brain tumor.
Born in Gardiner, Maine, April 23, 1944, a son of Eldon R. and Alma E. (Gates) Harvey, he grew up in Litchfield, Maine. He graduated from Litchfield public schools and Monmouth Academy, Monmouth, Maine.
After moving to Orange in 1983, he and his wife owned and operated the former North Quabbin Regional Campground, previously known as The Ranch, for a few years. They later founded E & S Development Company, Inc. in 1986. Since 1990 he has been a long distance driver for F. L. Castine, Inc. Moving and Storage Co., Athol, continuing with the company for the past few years as an independent hauler known as E. R. Harvey Transportation. He was a skilled driver and equipment operator.
An enthusiastic landscaper and gardener, he enjoyed his leisure time working around his home, caring for Labrador retrievers, camping, boating and photography. A musician most his life, he played the organ, several other instruments and enjoyed country western music.
He leaves his wife of 18 years, Sally A. (Bedley) Harvey; his father, Eldon R. Harvey of Litchfield; a daughter, Charlene (Harvey) Agreen of Newark, Del.; two step - daughters, Sally Bowers of Hubbardston and Tina Golden of Augusta, Maine; a step - son, Jack Donohoe of West Gardiner; a brother, David Harvey of Litchfield; two sisters, Aloma Harvey of Litchfield and Andrea Coe of Oviedo, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13 at 11 a.m. in Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange, Mass.
The Rev. Mark Bariloni of Athol - Orange Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will follow in South Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p. m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Edward C. Lavender; Enjoyed Fishing
FITZWILLIAM, N.H. — Edward C. Lavender, 72, of State Line Circle, died Saturday, June 10, 2000 in Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. after a sudden illness.
He was born in Worcester, July 17, 1927 and lived in Fitzwilliam all his life.
His wife, Shirley A. (Warner) Lavender, died in 1988.
He was a star route mail contractor for the United States Postal Service in Keene, N.H. and Springfield, Mass. for 45 years prior to his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of the Fitzwilliam Sportsman Club and enjoyed fishing, golf and lawn care.
He is survived by a son, Robert E. Lavender of Athol, Mass., three daughters, Linda L. Kublbeck of Fitzwilliam, Peggy Lee Young of Athol and Betty L. Carey of Gardner, Mass.; his long - time companion, Peggie E. Sawtelle of Winchendon; nine grandchildren and two great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday in the Fletcher - Hebert Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon, at 2 p.m. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Dr. R. Gary Heikkila will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fitzwilliam.

Funeral services for Lousie (Knowlton) Chase, 75, formerly of Athol, were held Saturday, June 10, at Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home.
Mr. Harry M. Norwood, first councilor to the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Greenfield, officiated. The organist was Barbara Fisher. Burial followed in Lawrence Brook Cemetery, Royalston.
The bearers were Mark I. Chase, William R. Chase Jr.,Geoffrey D. Chase, Robert Lane and James Lake.
Louise L. Chase
Former Athol Resident
Louise L. (Knowlton) Chase, 75, of Lakeland, formerly of Athol, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at her home in Lakeland, Fla.
She was born in Athol, Mass. March 9, 1925, a daughter of Irwin L. and Mildred C. (Randall) Knowlton. She grew up in Athol, graduated from Athol High School in 1942, and from the Julliard School of Music in New York City. She lived in Livonia, Mich. for many years and since 1993 has resided in Lakeland.
She was a member of the Detroit Story League, and the Livonia Republican Club. She had worked for the Ronald Reagan Camp at the Detroit Republican Convention. She taught music and played the organ and piano in several churches. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lakeland.
She leaves her husband of many years, William R. Chase Sr.; three sons, Mark Irwin Chase of Lebanon, N.H., William R. Chase Jr. of Windham, Maine and Geoffrey David Chase of Redford, Mich.; a daughter, JoEllen Chase Harris of Farmington Hills, Mich.; a sister, Shirley Bock of Athol; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, at 11 a.m. in the Higgins - O'Connor Funeral Home, with members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Greenfield Branch officiating.
There will be a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m., and burial will follow in Lawrence Brook Cemetery in Royalston.
John H. St. Germain
Driver, Sportsman
John H. St. Germain, 82, of 391 Lenox St. died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 in Athol Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Ruth (Brown) St. Germain; two sons, Mark N. St. Germain of Worcester, John H. St. Germain, Jr. of Westfield; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was born in Gardner, on Aug. 3, 1917 the son of Medose and Ethel (Kew) St. Germain. He grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School. He was a resident of Athol for nine years, coming here from Greenville, N.H.
St. Germain was a truck driver for the Heywood Wakefield Company in Gardner for more than 40 years.
He was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Gardner. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Funeral services will be private.
Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
