Laura Blanchard, Owned Tailor Shop
Laura (Mallet) Godin Chiasson Blanchard, 93, of 61 Arthur Ave., died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
Her first husband, Clement J. Godin, died in 1958. Her second husband, William Chiasson, died in 1974. Her third husband, Albany Blanchard, died in 1978.
She leaves three sons, Valment Godin and his wife Lillian, Wilbert and his wife Dorothy, and Girard and his wife Frances, all of Athol; a daughter, Annette Rogman and her husband LeRoy of Elgin, Ill.; a step - son, Duane Chiasson of Athol, and a sister, Marie Helen Daigle of Applewood Home for Elders in Athol; 17 grandchildren and 35 great - grandchildren.
Born in Shippegan, New Brunswick, Canada on May 10, 1908, a daughter of William and Marie (Hebert) Mallet, she moved to Athol in 1927, and later became a United States citizen. For many years she owned and operated the Gagliardi Tailor Shop on South Street. She was a professional seamstress.
She enjoyed her family and enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. her favorite hobbies were crocheting and knitting. She was a member of the Our Lady Immaculate Church, the St. Anne's Society and the Franco - American Club.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5 from the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 tonight.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Our Lady Immaculate Church Building Fund, 192 School ST., Athol, Mass. 01331.

Gordin C. Bachelder; Owned Oil Company
Gordon C. Bachelder, 77, of 89 Ridge Ave., died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001 in Athol Memorial Hospital following an illness.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Lillian N. (Noel) Bachelder; four sons, Timothy B. Bachelder of Portland, Colo., and Matthew C. and his wife Caprice of Athol; two brothers, Lawrence Bachelder of Orange and Donald Bachelder of Athol; three grandchildren, Nicole and Alyson of Athol and Charles of Littleton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Athol June 19, 1924, a son of Charles W. and Leola (Whittaker) Bachelder, and was a lifelong resident of town. He graduated from Athol High School in 1942.
A marine veteran of World War II, he served in the Asiatic - Pacific Theater and was injured on Tinian Island.
He owned and operated the Bachelder Oil Company in Athol for many years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, a life member of the Roy L. Boyce Post 650 VFW, and a member of the Edward H. Phillips Post 102, American Legion.
A grave side service will be held Thursday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. in Gethsemane Cemetery with the Rev. Freda Maier, retired, of the South Athol United Methodist Church, officiating.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Athol Public Library, 568 Main St., or to the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church Memory Fund, 40 Island St., both Athol, Mass. 01331.
The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.

Mitchell Services
A funeral Mass for Donald E. Mitchell, 76, of 5 Ripley Rd., Westminster, was held Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in Our Lady Immaculate Church. The Rev. James B. Callahan, associate pastor, was the celebrant, assisted by Dr. James Linderman, deacon. The organist was Theresa Gabis.
Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery. Bearers were Ira Cass, Larry Grenier, Gerald Cormier, Roland Jean, John Aher and Howard Brown.
Representing the Edward H. Phillips Post 102 American Legion firing squad were: Robert Carey, senior vice commander; Peter Krustapentus, adjutant; Donald Walker, sergeant at arms; Alfred Souza, chaplain; and Mitchell Kenneway. The United States flag was folded by Alfred Souza and Peter Krustapentus and presented to Mrs. Barbara Mitchell by Robert Carey. Taps was played by William Kessler.
The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Rhodes Services
A funeral Mass for Delbert H. Rhodes, 84, of 8 Pierce St., was held Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001 in Our Lady Immaculate Church. The Rev. James B. Callahan, associate pastor, was the celebrant of the Mass. The organist was Theresa Gabis.
Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery. Bearers were Rob Rhodes, Mike Rhodes, Terry Akey, Nathan Akey, Mel Talbot and Matt Talbot.
The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

Tamason Services
A funeral Mass for Anna B. (Krustapentus) Tamason, 87, of 85 South St., was held Friday, Aug. 31, 2001 in St. Francis of Assisi Church. The Rev. Raymond P. Messier, pastor, was the celebrant of the Mass. The organist was Theresa Gabis.
Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery. Bearers were Mrs. Tamason's grandchildren, Jon Alcione, Andrew Alcione, John Sandova, Dana Sandova; and great - grandchildren, John Cody and William Cody.

Young Services
A concelebrated funeral Mass for Charles F. Young, 78, of 459 School St., was held Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001 in Our Lady Immaculate Church. The Rev. Thomas Mahoney of Sutton was the celebrant. He was assisted by Rev. James B. Callahan, pastor of Our Lady Immaculate Church; Rev. Raymond P. Messier, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church; Rev. Andre Gariepy, pastor of Holy Spirit Church in South Gardner; Rev. William Gallagher and Dr. James Linderman, deacon. The organist was Robert Lemoine.
Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery. Honorary bearers were Bob Gray, Jim O'Laughlin, J. Edmond Chaisson, Francis Foster, Frank Naimo and Neil Hachey. Active bearers were Timothy Young, John Young, Peter Young, Dennis Young, Brian Young and Jeff Young.
Representing the Edward H. Phillips Post 102 American Legion were: Robert Carey, senior vice commander; Peter Krustapentus, adjutant; Victor Litchfield, assistant finance officer; Al Souza, chaplain; and George Fiske. The United States flag was folded by Al Souza and Peter Krustapentus and presented to Mrs. Margaret Young by Souza. Taps was played by George Fiske and Fred Bulman.
The J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home directed arrangements.

Mildred B. Henshaw; Teacher
TEMPLETON - Mildred (Brown) Henshaw, 97, of 147 Henshaw Rd. died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2001, in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville.
She was born in Templeton on July 5, 1904, the daughter of Louis M. and Ethel V. (Peart) Brown, graduated from Templeton schools and was a lifelong resident.
Her husband of 60 years, Charles R. Henshaw died in 1984.
She leaves four sons, C. Milton Henshaw of Canaan, N.H., - Everett G. Ross, 76, of 71 Hospital Ave., formerly of Berlin, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001.
Among his survivors is Jody Bronnes of Royalston.

Bernard H. Meunier; Contractor
TEMPLETON - Bernard H. "Bing" Meunier, 75, of 373 Patriots Rd., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001 in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, following an illness.
He was born in Pawtucket, RI., on June 16, 1926 the son of Arthur and Amelia (Rainy) Meunier and was a longtime resident of Templeton. He spent his winters in Briney Breezes, Fla., since 1983.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II, he received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal.
He was an industrial maintenance contractor for the Arthur Meunier Company, Inc. retiring in 1981. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, East Templeton, the Otter River Knights of Columbus Council 2536, and the former Mr. and Mrs. Club of East Templeton.
He leaves his wife Mary Lou (King) Meunier of East Templeton whom he married on June 26, 1943; five sons, Richard Meunier of Orange, Roland R. Meunier of Templeton, John J. Meunier, Kevin Meunier, and David Meunier, all of Boston; three daughters, Mary M. Curtis of Templeton, Bernadette Arsenault of Alaska, and Amelia Jackson of Athol; three brothers, Donald Meunier of Worcester, Charles Meunier of North Attleboro, and Ralph Meunier of Sterling; three sisters, Annette Castro of Briney Breezes, Theresa LaCroix of Attleboro and Jean Barber of Lady Lake, Fla; 16 grandchildren, three great - grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Bernard J. Meunier in 1995; a brother, Robert Meunier of Pawtucket, who died many years ago; and a sister, Carol Breslin who lived in Seekonk at the time of her death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, from the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave., East Templeton.
Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Holy Cross Memorial Fund, 25 Lake Ave., East Templeton, Mass. 02346 or may be left at the funeral home.
