G. DAVID MOORE JR.
G. David Moore Jr., 27, Oakland, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
Born March 5, 1977, in Oakland, he was the son of Virgie L. (Chidester) Moore, Oakland, and the late George D. Moore Sr.
He was an employee of the Town of Oakland Street Department.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sisters, Tammy Friend, Loch Lynn, and Lori Friend and Carol Moore, both of Oakland; and one half brother, David A. Moore, Swanton.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was held Wednesday, June 16, with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating.
Interment was in the Deer Park Cemetery.

HENRY E. YODER
Henry E. Yoder, 85, Goshen, Ind., died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at his home.
Born Aug. 13, 1918, in Grantsville, he was a son of the late Ed M. and Anna (Beachy) Yoder. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Effie Yoder, Ada Yoder, Fannie Yoder, and Ida Miller; and six brothers, Allen, Milton, Menno, Lloyd, Noah, and Harvey Yoder.
He was a self-employed poultry grower. While in Garrett County, he was also a part-time employee of the Board of Education. He was a member of the East Goshen Mennonite Church and the Garrett County Habitat for Humanity board. He also served on the Highland Association board.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Esther Eash, Hollsopple, Pa.; two daughters, Rachel Yoder, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kathy Holsopple, New Paris, Ind.; one son, Roger Yoder, Goshen; one brother, Edwin Yoder, Salisbury, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, on Friday, June 18, from 2 to 4 and 6 and 8 p.m.
A service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the East Goshen Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Steven Slagel officiating.
Inurnment will be held at the Oak Grove Mennonite Cemetery at a later date.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Mennonite Central Committee or Habitat for Humanity.

DAVID E. YODER
David Eli Yoder, 44, Bittinger, died of complications from cancer Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Dec. 24, 1959, in Montezuma, Ga., he was a son of Edwin E. Yoder, Montezuma, and the late Sara (Brenneman) Yoder. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Norman Yoder.
He was a member of the Dry Run Mennonite Church, now known as the Bittinger Mennonite Church. A veal grower by occupation, he had also worked as a dairy farmer in Montezuma and also as a meat cutter.
His is survived by his wife, Sandra (Bender) Yoder; two daughters, Sherri and Sheila, both at home; two sons, Ryan and Karlyn, both at home; seven brothers, Ivan Ray, Stanley, Melvin Paul, twin brothers Marlin and Mark, all of Montezuma; his twin Dale, and Wesley, all of Montezuma; and two sisters, Leila Fern Yoder and Darlene Yoder, both of Montezuma.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville.
A service was conducted on Saturday, June 26, at the Bittinger Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Keith Yoder, Rev. Leonard Orendorf, and Rev. Herman Yoder officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Bittinger Mennonite School.

JAMES W. LOHR
James Woodrow Lohr, 87, Friendsville, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at his home.
Born Aug. 5, 1916, in Deer Park, he was the son of the late William H. and Virginia Maude (Lee) Lohr.
He was a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of WOW Lodge 45 and Asher Glade Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his wife, Marybelle Althea (Teets) Lohr; one son, Gary Lohr, Friendsville; and three sisters, Ethel Seibert, Hagerstown, Freda VanScheetz, Accident, and Wilma Wakefield, Friendsville.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville.
A service was conducted on Wednesday, June 30, at Asher Glade Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Ed Moore officiating.
Interment was in Blooming Rose Cemetery.

GLADYS E. SHOCKEY
Gladys Elizabeth Shockey, 84, Swanton, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born Jan. 15, 1920, in Bloomington, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Janie E. (Lockridge) Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sloan Shockey; five brothers; one sister; and one grandson.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth W. Shockey, Swanton; two daughters, Geraldine R. Simpson, Swanton, and Linda L. (Shike) Kasmier, Mtn. Lake Park; two sisters, Pearl Lee, Chambersburg, Pa., and Madeline Duckworth, Swanton; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Friends were received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, where a service was held today, Thursday, July 1, with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.
Interment was in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

EDWIN KEIPER
Edwin Keiper, 87, Chambersburg, Pa., died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born June 4, 1917, in Earnestville, Ky., he was a son of the late Charles Henry and Hattie Marie (Metcaff) Keiper. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Howard Keiper.
He was a 1935 graduate of Aurora High School, Aurora, Ky., and later attended Vale Technical Institute, Blairsville, Pa.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a staff sergeant. He received the European-Africa-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and Ribbon with one Silver and three Bronze Service Stars, the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the American Defense Service Medal.
He was employed by the former H-P Store in McConnellsburg, Pa., as a manager for 30 years before retiring. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and McConnellsburg Fire Co.; a member of the American Legion Post 561, McConnellsburg, VFW Post 655, McConnellsburg, the McConnellsburg Chamber of Commerce, and Fulton County Industrial Development Association; and was a director of the McConnellsburg Senior Citizens Association.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen A. (Shillingburg) Keiper, whom he married May 3, 1947, in Oakland; three daughters, Diana K. Middledauff, Hagerstown, Susan Quinby Gruber, Chambersburg, and Kathy L. Mellott, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.; one brother, Harry Keiper, Falls Church, Va.; one sister, Ann Mae Ford, Virginia; and two granddaughters.
A service will be held July 11 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, McConnellsburg, with pastor Allen Reed officiating.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Pa.

THEODORE S. SWIFT
Theodore S. Swift, 85, Rockville, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at Montgomery Hospice Casey House, Rockville.
He was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Marion Station. He was preceded in death by one son, Gene Swift.
He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Alabama during World War II. He was a member of Post 268, American Legion, Wheaton. He founded the family owned construction company of A&P Contractors in 1954, and served many years as its president before turning it over to his sons.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca E. (Lohr) Swift; four sons, Bruce Swift, Oakland, James "Ron" Swift, Boyds, and Gregory Swift and Garry Swift, both of Derwood; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
An inurnment service was held today, Thursday, July 1, at the Deer Park Cemetery.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans' organizations in southern Garrett County.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, P.O. Box 280, Olney, MD 20830; or the Montgomery Hospice Casey House, 6001 Muncaster Mill Road, Rockville MD 20855.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, was in charge of arrangements.

NELSON THOMASSON IV
Nelson "Tom" Thomasson IV, 60, Mtn. Lake Park, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 24, 1943, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Nelson Thomasson III and Bette Sue (Cantrelle) Thomasson, long-time residents of Barrington, Ill., Mtn. Lake Park, and Siesta Key, Sarasota, Fla.
He had been living and working in the Los Angeles area before returning to Florida to help care for his parents in the late 1980s. He was the primary caregiver to both until their deaths some years later.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman who loved to golf, play tennis, and travel. He was also keenly interested in genealogy and helped preserve and document many important historical family pictures and mementoes.
He is survived by two sisters, Indie Cather, Alexandria, Va., and Lee Nelson, Chino Valley, Ariz. He leaves behind his niece Gardiner, her daughter Ashley and son Grant, also of Alexandria.
At his request, his body was cremated.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 3, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Oakland, with the Rev. Dr. Chip Lee officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ruth Enlow Library.

ROBERT E. LIPSCOMB
Robert Edward "Robby" Lipscomb, 91, Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Cumberland Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 27, 1913, in Oakland, he was a son of the late Albert Grant and Daisy (Wise) Lipscomb. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Hallie Goss, Gertrude Lispcomb, and Sade Powell; and two brothers, Tom Lipscomb and Albert Lipscomb.
He was a retired maintenance man. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, enlisting May 16, 1941. He fought in Naples-Foggia, Rome Arno, North Apennines, and Po Valley. He received the American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon.
He also served during the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Marksman Badge with Carbine Bar.
He is survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland, today, Thursday, July 1, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.
Interment will be in the Rodeheaver Cemetery, Oakland.

JOYCE L. SNYDER
Joyce Leana Barrick Snyder, 75, Seattle, Wash., formerly of Kitzmiller, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at her home.
Born Feb. 12, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ember James Barrick Sr. and Pearle Sharpless Barrick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William T. Snyder Sr.; and one sister, Nancy Nash.
She is survived by one daughter, Gloria Mae Downs; one son, Theodore Snyder; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons, all of Seattle; one brother, E. James Barrick, Oakland; and two sisters, Vauda Burrell and Rita Sims, Kitzmiller.
At her request, there will be no service.
Donations may be made to Hospice.

FRANK W. FERRARO
Frank William Ferraro, 58, Salisbury, Pa., died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at his residence from lung cancer.
Born May 5, 1946, in Meyersdale, Pa., he was a son of the late Samuel R. and Beatrice (Holler) Ferraro. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Ferraro and John Ferraro.
He was a self-employed barber and worked as lead foreman at Stanton's and Maple Mtn. Industries. He was a member of Shunk Run Hunt Club and St. John's United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri M. (Bodes) Ferraro; one son, Anthony, Salisbury; two daughters, Tina Devine, Accident, and Amber Ferraro, Pittsburgh, Pa.; one stepson, Richard Maust, Springs, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Lori Haines, Frostburg; one sister, Rosemary Ferraro, Woodbine; one brother, Samuel Ferraro, Meyersdale; and five grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Salisbury, where a service was held on Friday, July 30, with Pastor Tommy Holliday officiating.
At his request, his body was cremated.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to In Touch Hospice.

DELTON R. SELL
Delton R. Sell, 68, of Horse Shoe Run (Mt. Grove community), W.Va., died on Saturday, July 30, 2004, at Heartland of Preston County, Kingwood, W.Va.
He was born July 21, 1936, in New Creek, W.Va., a son of the late Alberta A. Sell. He is survived by one half brother, Pete Burch, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Mr. Sell was a lifelong farmer. He was a protestant by faith.
A service was held on Sunday, Aug. 1, and interment was in the Texas Cemetery in Horse Shoe Run.

ETHEL P. VICTOR
Ethel P. Victor, 81, Villa Park, Ill., died Friday, July 30, at the Elmhurst (Ill.) Extended Care Center.
Born on Sept. 24, 1922, in Gormania, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Edward H. and Fannie M. (Bosley) Baer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William R. Victor, and a son, Rex A. Victor.
She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Lombard, Ill. She retired as an office worker for the Villa Park Trust and Savings Bank. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, she was discharged in 1945 as an aviation machinist mate 2C.
She is survived by one sister, Roseanne M. Messer, Gormania, and one brother, Harrison L. Baer, Accident.
An interment service was held at Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland, on Aug. 3 with Rev. James F. Remley officiating.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, was in charge of the arrangements.
