Eugene Wood Jr.
Eugene Henry Wood Jr., 90, of Taneytown, died Jan. 9, 2002 at the Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster.
Mr. Wood was born Jan. 31, 1911, in Baltimore and was the son of the late Laura LeDoyen and Eugene H. Wood Sr.
He served in the Army Air Corp from 1930 to 1934 and lived in Ferndale, Pasadena and Baltimore before moving to Taneytown.
He was employed at Western Electric Corp. in Baltimore for 44 years before retiring as a supervisor.
Mr. Wood was a member of Masonic Lodge Druid Royal Arch Chapter and former board member of Forward Visions Inc., which provides homes for the developmentally disabled.
He was the widower of Minnie Donnelly Wood, Gloria Piotrowski Wood and Inagene Wood.
Surviving are two sons, E. Kendall Wood of Glenville, Pa., and Thomas H. Wood of Franklin, Ga.; three daughters, Wilma Brown of Taneytown, Linda Leitz of Franklin and Gail Wood of Phoenix in Baltimore County; three brothers, Howard Wood of Clemmons, N.C., Owen Wood of Upper Marlboro and William Wood of Linthicum; and three sisters, Leona Booze of Severna Park, Elizabeth "Bee" McNemar of Baltimore and Beulah "Peg" Quathamer of Linthicum.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at Singleton Funeral Home, 1 Second Ave. SW, Glen Burnie, where services will follow. Burial will be in Glen Haven Cemetery in Glen Burnie.
Memorial contributions may be made to Forward Visions Inc., 2035 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093.

Richard MacKenzie
Richard MacKenzie Sr., 77, of Millersville, died of complications of an aneurysm Jan. 10, 2002, his birthday, at North Arundel Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 10, 1925, and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, where he attended the Glasgow Technical College.
He married the former Jeanie G. Torrance on Dec. 7, 1946, in Scotland. They immigrated to the United States in 1952 and moved to Millersville in 1960. Mrs. MacKenzie died Feb. 9, 1998.
He worked as a brick mason and became a home building, operating the MacKenzie Construction Co.
His interests including dancing and traveling.
Surviving are his son, Richard MacKenzie Jr. of Millersville; two daughters, Jeannie Andrews and Joan Conrad of Pasadena; one brother, Thomas MacKenzie of Glasgow; four granddaughters; and a close friend, Anna Dupuis of Pasadena.
He was the brother of the late Joanne Wilson.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Arundel Hospital, 301 Hospital Drive, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.

Zella Pearson
Zella Palmer Pearson, 88, a resident of Cape St. Claire for 35 years and formerly of Annapolis, died of respiratory problems Jan. 11, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Pearson was born May 14, 1913, in Ananpolis. She worked as a baker at Carlson's Bakery in Annapolis for 32 years and then for the Raymond Nichols family for 22 years.
She enjoyed word books and television.
In 1960 she married John Pearson, who died in 1965.
Surviving are one son, Carroll Winter Jr., and one daughter, Betty Williams, both of Annapolis; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Burial will be in Luther Palmer Cemetery at Riva Road and West Street Extended.

Tommy Wimbush
Retired Navy Chief Boatswain's Mate Tommy Lee Wimbush, 76, of Lyons, Ga., and formerly of Ananpolis, died of natural causes Jan. 9, 2002 at Atlanta Veterans Administration Hospital in Decatur, Ga.
Born and educated in Lyons, Chief Wimbush joined the Navy and retired after 30 years of service, receiving several medals.
He was the widower of Marion Credella Wimbush.
Surviving are five children, Emily Motley of California, Sheila Wimbush Johnson of Georgia, and Thomas Wimbush, Emma Jeannie Wimbush Allen and Belinda Wimbush, all of Annapolis; a longtime friend, Lillie May Holland of Lyons; and several grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are being handled by Smally's Funeral Home in Vidalia, Ga.

Roy Wyrick
Roy James "Jay" Wyrick, 39, of Riva, died Jan. 10, 2002 at his home.
The cause of death was not available.
Born Aug. 8, 1962, in Takoma Park, Mr. Wyrick attended South River High School. He served in the Army National Guard and worked most of his life as a carpenter.
He was a member of Riva Trace Baptist Church and loved music and animals.
Surviving are his mother, Patricia M. Wyrick of Riva, and one sister, Dawn Hill of Arnold. He was the son of the late Oswald T. Wyrick.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Riva Trace Baptist Church, with private burial. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riva Trace Baptist Church, 2990 Riva Trace Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401, in lieu of flowers.

Norma Barbour
Memorial contributions to Norma Barbour may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
Mrs. Barbour, 77, of Salisbury, died Sept. 18, 2000. A complete obituary was in The Capital on Sept. 20.

Harvey Chew
Harvey Chew, 76, of Annapolis, died Sept. 23, 2000 at the Annapolis Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Annapolis, Mr. Chew was educated in county public schools. He was a self-employed laborer.
His hobbies were music, sports and watching television.
He had no immediate survivors.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Annapolis Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.

Allen Disque
Allen W. Disque, 81, a resident of West River since 1952 and a retired microbiologist, died of heart failure Sept. 28, 2000 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Disque was born in Forty Fort, Pa., on March 24, 1919. He had a master's degree in microbiology from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
During World War II, Mr. Disque was an Army sergeant serving in the 40th Field Hospital and participated in the invasion of Normandy.
In 1979, he retired from the Washington, D.C., Department of Health, where he was employed as a microbiologist in the serology department.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Annapolis, and of the Order of the Eastern Star, former Bayside Chapter 114 of Shady Side.
He was a ham radio operator and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carrie E. Disque; three sons, Robert Disque of Annapolis, William Disque of Sonora, Calif., and Lynn Disque of Harwood; one brother, Elmer Disque of Kensington, and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 905 Galesville Road in Galesville. There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. Monday at the Lakemont Cemetery in Davidsonville.
The family suggests that donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Gary Ermer
Gary Gene Ermer, 44, a resident of Crownsville for seven years and previously of Laurel, died of liver failure September 26, 2000 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
Mr. Ermer was born in Washington, D.C., on May 31, 1956. He served in the Army as a specialist 4th class from 1974 to 1978 and was in the Army Reserve for two years. Later he was employed by the John Driggs Co.
His interests included boating and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Rebecca Ermer; two daughters, Cynthia and Jean Ermer of Crownsville; his father, Robert Ermer of Georgia; one brother, Wayne Ermer, and one sister, Cynthia Cannon, both of Chico, Calif.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Highway, Bowie, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be at 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Agnes Burton
Agnes E. Johnson Burton, a resident of Severna Park for the past 60 years, died Sept. 29, 2000 at her home of complications with a stroke. She was 90.
Mrs. Burton was born July 14, 1910, in Ellicott City and once managed the school cafeteria at Severna Park Elementary, retiring in 1972.
Her husband, William E. Burton, died in 1983.
She attended Almost Family Adult Daycare and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and embroidery work. Other interests included gardening and helping her neighbors.
Survivors include a daughter, Ethel May Green of Severna Park; three sons, William E. Burton Jr. of Pasadena, Guy A. Burton Sr. of Glen Burnie and Robert W. Burton of Marydel; 16 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with funeral services Tuesday at 11 a.m., at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Interment will be in Glen Haven Cemetery in Glen Burnie.

Kathleen Miller
Kathleen Edna Miller, a 20-year resident of Crownsville, died Sept. 29, 2000 of heart failure at University Hospital in Baltimore. She was 53.
Born Oct. 9, 1946, in Baltimore, Mrs. Miller was employed for the past 14 years at J.C. Penney's in Annapolis Mall.
Her interests included gardening, ceramics and spending time with the family dog, "Buddy."
Survivors include her husband, William K. "Kenny" Miller; a daughter, Naomi Painter of Odenton; three brothers, Carl Brown and Joseph and Michael Appleby, all of Baltimore; and two sisters, Gail Ciarpella and Patricia Appleby, both of Baltimore.
Visitation will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road in Gambrills. Interment will follow in Lakemont Cemetery in Davidsonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403.

Carrie Sutphin
Carrie Tobitha "Pete" Sutphin, of Preston and a former resident of Annapolis, died Sept. 30, 2000 at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. She was 91.
Mrs. Sutphin was born Nov. 5, 1908 in Ansted, W.Va. Her husband, Glen Sutphin Sr., whom she married in 1927, died in 1988.
She once worked as a domestic at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis and enjoyed canning, crocheting and reading.
Survivors include a daughter, Irma Jones of Preston; two sons, Hiram "Buster" Sutphin of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Glen Sutphin Jr. of Edgewater; a brother, James Conrad of New Jersey; three sisters, Glenna Evens of Greensboro, Gladys Crenshaw of Mechanicsville, Va. and Evelyn Farrell of Fincastle, Va.; seven grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. in Annapolis. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Anne Arundel County, 7240 Parkwood Drive, Suite 360, Hanover, MD 21076.

William Burns
William Francis Burns, 55, a resident of Arnold for 17 years, died April 10, 2001 at his home after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Burns was born June 28, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pa., graduated from Drexel University and served briefly in the Peace Corps. He retired in 1995 from the U.S. Treasury Department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, with 27 years of service.
After retirement, he worked part-time for Chesapeake Marine Tours, Hertz and Fawcett Boat Supplies. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating with fellow members of the Marley Boat Club.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Eileen Parker Burns; his mother, Anne Carlsson Burns of Somers Point, N.J.; his sister, Beverly McClintock of Drexel Hill, Pa.; six nieces and a nephew; and a former midshipman, Matthew Walters of Ellicott City.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. April 21 at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403, or Hospice of the Chesapeake, 8424 Veterans Highway, Millersville, MD 21108.

Nathaniel Gross
Nathaniel "Boo Boo" Gross, 39, of Annapolis, died April 10, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Gross was born Oct. 23, 1961, in Calvert County.
He worked at Middleton Tavern, the Naval Academy and the Key School until becoming disabled.
He attended various churches and enjoyed the fellowship of Antioch Apostolic Church. He was known to make people laugh, and enjoyed all sports, especially football, basketball and swimming.
Surviving are two daughters, Nicole and India Gross of Annapolis; his parents, Martha Gross of Annapolis and Arthur Gross of New London, Ohio; six brothers, Vanzorro Gross of North Carolina and Maurice, Arthur, Keith, Maris and William Gross, all of Annapolis; four sisters, Regina and Danette Gross and Tershawn Morsell of Annapolis and Tawanna Holland of Severn.
He was the brother of the late Robert Gross.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at Reese and Sons Mortuary, 821 West St., where a Christian wake will be at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 am.
Burial will follow in Annapolis Memorial Gardens.

Agnes Ice
Delia Agnes Ice, 70, a 35-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Charleston, S.C., died of emphysema April 12, 2001 at the Spa Creek Center, GenesisElderCare Network.
Mrs. Ice was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 18, 1925, and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Navy Wives Club and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis.
In 1956 she married Fielden Richard Ice who died Feb. 17, 1994.
She is survived by seven sisters, Mary Gallagher of Massapequa Park, N.Y., Ann and Margaret Hession and Florence Ryan, all of Whiting, N.Y., Kathleen Long of Bethlehem, Pa., Patricia Herlihy of Syosset, N.Y., and Helen Tulinski of Dallas, Texas. She was the sister of the late Thomas Hession.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., where prayers will be offered at 3 p.m. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
