Beulah Wagner
Beulah Jane Wagner, 77, a resident of Glen Burnie for 47 years and previously of Baltimore, died Jan. 30, 2002 at the Millennium Health and Rehabilitation Center in Glen Burnie.
Mrs. Wagner was born in Pineville, Ky., on Aug. 29, 1924. A homemaker, she enjoyed camping in Pennsylvania, traveling and caring for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Glen Burnie Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Westley S. Wagner; three daughters, Anna T. Turner of Tennessee, Bonnie S. Phillilps of Stevensville and Betty J. Dressel of Ocean Pines.; three brothers, James Partin of Pasadena and Luther and Parrott Partin of Pineville; two sisters, Edith Russell of Glen Burnie and Nannie Blazer of California; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Fred T. Partin, Ed Fuson and Verda Luiacono.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road in Pasadena, where the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in the Glen Haven Cemetery in Glen Burnie.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 8424 Veterans Highway, Millersville, MD 21108.

James Donnell
James Worthington "Jimmy" Donnell, 58, of Annapolis, died of cancer Jan. 30, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a 10-month illness.
Born in Annapolis, he attended county public schools. He joined the Navy in 1961 and was trained at the Culinary Arts School in Illinois. He served as a cook on ships during his two years of military service.
As a civilian, he was a self-employed tractor trailer driver and operated a moving and storage business for more than 30 years.
His hobbies were reading, watching sports and listening to gospel music.
Survivors include his daughter, Diamond Donnell of Annapolis; his mother, the Rev. Lucille Donnell of Annapolis; four brothers, Raymond, Douglas, Michael and James R. Donnell, all of Annapolis; and six sisters, Shirley Butler, Doreen Donnell and Tremaine Donnell, all of Annapolis, Viola Donnell of Arnold, Louellen Donnell of Glen Burnie and Rebecca Thompson of Shady Side.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Miller's Metropolitan Chapel, 1922 Forest Drive, Annapolis and beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive A.M.E. Church, 2 Hicks Ave., Annapolis. A Christian wake will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Virginia Simon
Mary Virginia "Ginny" Simon, a longtime resident of Annapolis, died of cancer Jan. 30, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born April 5, 1924, in Butler, Pa., Mrs. Simon was the daughter of the late Cecil McCandels and Ladema Gifford.
She worked for Charles Morris Price Advertising firm as a copywriter for major department stores in Philadelphia. She also worked in the advertising department for The Evening Capital and at Colonial Kitchens on Maryland Avenue.
She was quite active in the first decade of Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre and was given a special award, called a Carte Blanche card, by the theater founders. Later she worked backstage at Colonial Players and was awarded a special certificate for her contributions there.
Mrs. Simon was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and longtime member of Colonial Players. Although she could not play any musical instruments, she wrote many songs and enjoyed writing poetry.
Surviving are three sons, Donald Simon of Eastport, Dave Simon of Pasadena and Joe Thompson of Bay Ridge; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Walter Gifford and Esther McCandels.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1101 Bay Ridge Ave., followed by a gathering at the home of her son, Joe Thompson, at 20 Decatur Ave.

Catherine Schwab
Catherine C. "Katie" Schwab, 85, of Edgewater and previously of Riva, died of heart failure Feb. 1, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
A longtime south county resident, Mrs. Schwab was born Dec. 29, 1915, in Washington. D.C. She retired in 1978 from the Treasury Department when she had worked as a secretary for 20 years.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville and loved bowling, reading and supporting the Washington Redskins.
Surviving are one son, James L. Schwab of East Falmouth, Mass.; two daughters, Kathi Chenoweth of Tallahassee, Fla., and Marti D'Angelo of Edgewater, with whom she resided; one sister, Anna Gaum of Alexandria, Va.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 tonight at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at Holy Family Chapel in Davidsonville. Burial will be in Lakemont Cemetery in Davidsonville.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD 21035.

Celso Biagini
Celso Biagini, 81, of Annapolis and previously of Connecticut, died Feb. 3, 2002 at the Severna Park Center, Genesis ElderCare Network.
Mr. Biagini was born July 4, 1920, in Elko, Nev., and attended the University of California at Berkeley.
A retired businessman, he wrote many articles related to his career which were published in business publications.
He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis. He wrote novels and was interested in opera, ballet, classical music and the fine arts, He did woodworking and furniture design and enjoyed gourmet cooking, reading and studying Eastern philosophies.
In 1958 he was married to Francesca Biagini.
Also surviving are two sons, Darian Biagini of Centreville, Va., and Dana J. Biagini of Annapolis; two daughters, Laura B. Steele of Hopkinton, Mass., and Franceica Rosa of San Francisco, Calif.; one brother, Henry Biagini of Stamford, Conn.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. March 3 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 333 Dubois Road. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Anne Arundel County Chapter, 1041 Route 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054.

Ferd Booth Jr.
Ferd S. Booth Jr., 66, a resident of Edgewater for 20 years and formerly of Annapolis, died Feb. 7, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Booth was born Nov. 21, 1935, in Tannersville, Va., the son of the late Olivene and Ferd S. Booth Sr. He was a self-employed drywall contractor.
He was a member of Annapolis Moose Lodge 296 and Davidsonville United Methodist Church.
He was an avid stockcar racing fan and loved country music.
On April 13, 1957, he married Mary Booth. Also surviving are one son, Timmy Booth of Edgewater; two daughters, Vicki Kontson of Davidsonville and Cindy Borza of Edgewater; two brothers, Edward Booth of Edgewater and Paul Booth of Delaware; two sisters, Laura Mitchell of Delaware and Janet Laster of Harwood; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Booth was the brother of the late Eva Stepp and Rosemary Sherbert.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Helen Cronin
Helen Voeller "H.V." Cronin, 85, of Annapolis since 1971, died of Alzheimer's disease Feb. 4, 2002 at Millennium Health and Rehabilitation Center at South River in Edgewater.
Mrs. Cronin was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Wyoming and grew up in Idaho. She attended Mills College in Oakland, Calif., and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley.
A homemaker, she lived in San Francisco, Calif.; Manhattan, N.Y.; Ladue, Mo.; and Alton, Ill. She was a member of Church of the Covenant of New York. Her interests included reading, traveling, Chinese art and gardening.
In 1943, she married Conald C. Cronin, who died in 1983.
Surviving are one son, Timothy Christian Cronin, and one daughter, Carla Cronin, both of Edgewater; one brother, Stanley Voeller of Oregon; and one grandson.
She was the daughter of the late Carl C. and Lillian Voeller, and the sister of the late Rex Voeller.
Services are private, with arrangements by Hardesty Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093-5142.

Bessie Franklin
Bessie Franklin, 79, of Lothian, died of heart failure Feb. 5, 2002 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Franklin was born and educated in Lothian, and worked as a cook at Wayson's restaurant. She was a member of Sollers United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Her interests were her church, shopping and listening to gospel music.
Her husband, John Arthur Franklin, died in 1979.
Surviving are one son, Gilbert Franklin of Lothian; one brother, Joe Louis Tasker of Hagerstown; and two sisters, Agnes Medley of Annapolis and Florence Turner of Lothian.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at Sollers United Methodist Church, 1219 Wrighton Road, Lothian, where a Christian wake will be at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Moses Cemetery in Drury. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.

Ruth Hercher
Ruth Ursula Martha Bedurke Hercher, 78, of Glen Burnie, died of heart failure Feb. 7, 2002 at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore after a brief illness.
The daughter of the late Tischer Paul Wilhelm and Anna Martha Henschke, Mrs. Hercher was born May 23, 1922, in Frankfurt'Oder, Germany. She served two years in the German armed forces.
She was a clerk for 14 years at J.C. Murphy Co. and enjoyed knitting and crafts. She enjoyed volunteering at the O'Malley Senior Center in Odenton.
She was married for 38 years to Joseph Hercher before his death.
Surviving are two sons, Hans J. Hercher of Harrisburg, Pa., and Helmoth C. "Joe" Hercher of Millersville; one daughter, Hildegard C. Cheron of Glen Burnie; one sister, Sabina Gaskill of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road, Gambrills. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Severn Run Presbyterian Church, Millersville Road, Millersville. Burial will be at a later date in Sewickley Cemetery in Allegheny, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arundel Habitat for Humanity, 273 Peninsula Farm Road, Arnold, MD 21012.

Ann Hill
Private services were held for Ann Marie Hill, 82, formerly of Long Island, N.Y., who died of heart failure Feb. 4, 2002 at the home of her granddaughter in Pasadena.
Mrs. Hill was born Aug. 13, 1919, in Brooklyn. N.Y. During World War II she was a volunteer with the USO.
Her interests included crocheting, reading, shopping, listening to the radio and playing with her great-grandson.
In 1947 she was married to Joseph Martin Hill who died in 1975.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Ann Hill of Glen Burnie and Sharon Rose of Centreville, Va.; one brother, James Gibbons of Long Island; three sisters, Julia Bozeman of Deltona, Fla., Genevieve Knauss of Fresno, Calif.; and Loretta Capotino of Long Island; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She resided with her granddaughter and caregiver, Jennifer Ann Brienza.
Arrangements were by Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena.

Hal Martin
Hal Kenneth Martin, 56, of Arnold, died of respiratory failure Feb. 7, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Martin was born Feb. 28, 1944, and raised in Washington, Mo. He formerly lived in Glen Burnie, Annapolis and Kentucky.
He graduated from the University of Maryland and earned a master's degree in business from the Johns Hopkins University.
For 23 years he worked in sales for General Electric Co. in the Chesapeake region and then founded his own company, Innovative Contract Sales, which he operated for eight years.
Mr. Martin, who learned the Korean language, served in the Army in Korea and in military intelligence during the Vietnam War.
He was an active member of the United Church of Christ of Annapolis where he was a member of the consistory and initiated the membership committee of which he was chairman.
In addition, he was a member of the Small Area Planning Committee for the Broadneck Peninsula, served on the Cape St. Claire Pool Association and was an active member of the Cape St. Claire Recreation Council.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie M. Martin; one son, Stephen A. Martin who is serving in the Navy in Newport News, Va.; one daughter, Lauren C. Martin of Arnold; his mother, Hilda Martin of Washington, Mo.; two brothers, Dennis Martin of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kerry Martin of St. Louis, Mo.; and one sister, Deborah Parsons of Owingsville, Mo. He was the brother of the late Sandy Saunders.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the United Church of Christ. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Church of Christ, 8 Carvel Circle, Edgewater, MD 21037.

Eugene Hostetter Jr.
Funeral services were conducted Jan. 23 in South Hill, Va., for Eugene Leslie "Bud" Hostetter Jr., 67, who died of a heart attack Jan. 16, 2001 at his home in Lacrosse, Va., after a lengthy illness with emphysema.
Mr. Hostetter had lived in Lacrosse for the past nine years and was previously a longtime resident of Edgewater.
Born and educated in Lexington, Va., he was employed by C.W. Wright Construction Co. of Richmond, Va., where he was a lineman supervisor for 40 years. He was well-respected and enjoyed his time with the company, passing on the trade to his sons and training many others for the company.
He enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles, and doing projects with his children.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Florence Edna Hostetter; four sons, Eugene Leslie Hostetter 3rd of Blackridge, Va., Ronald and Ernest Ray Hostetter of Edgewater and Gary Hostetter of Lacrosse; two daughters, Susan Vaughan and Anne Greene Hostetter, both of Lacrosse; five brothers, Robert and J.L. Hostetter, both of South Hill, Calvin Hostetter of Baskerville, Va., Wayne Hostetter of Rice, Va., Carson Hostetter of Atlanta, Ga., and Ricky Hostetter of Lawrenceville, Va.; two sisters, Charlotte Thompson of Eden, Okla., and Mary Alice Parrish of Dolphin, Va.; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Burial was in Canaan Cemetery in Blackridge.

James Moore
James Orlando Moore Jr., 37, formerly of Annapolis, died Feb. 5, 2001 at his Baltimore home. The cause of death was not available.
Mr. Moore, who also was known as "JR," was born and educated in Aliquippa, Pa., and attended Essex Community College. He had worked for MCI and did substance abuse counseling.
He attended a Baltimore church and enjoyed reading and drawing.
Surviving are one son, James Moore of Baltimore; one daughter, Lacrissa Moore of Williamsport, Pa.; his mother, Alice Moore of Baltimore; one brother, Antoine Williams of Baltimore; and four sisters, Ruth Jayson-Polk of Lake Mary, Fla., Angelia Page of Baltimore, Audre Watkins of Annapolis and Anita Chambers of Severna Park.
Viewing is from noon to 7 p.m. today at Gary P. March Funeral Home, 270 Fred Hilton Pass, Baltimore, where a Christian wake will be at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow followed by funeral services at noon. Burial will be in Annapolis Memorial Gardens.

Noah Anderson
Noah J. Anderson, 81, a resident of Pasadena, died of natural causes Feb. 9, 2001 at Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital in Chestertown.
Mr. Anderson was born in Baltimore on July 16, 1919.
While serving in the Navy during World War II, he earned a Purple Heart. He was a Maryland state trooper who also retired from Carpenters Union 101.
A former amateur boxer, he was inducted into the Veteran Boxers International Ring 101 Hall of Fame in 2000.
Mr. Anderson also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
His wife, Catharine Anderson, died in 1996.
He is survived by four daughters, Trudy Chapman of Chestertown, Nancy Hankinson of Odenton, Joanna Lockwood of Arkansas and Mary McLeod of Hudson, Fla.; two brothers, Richard Anderson of Baltimore and Robert Anderson of Oaklawn, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 8424 Veterans Highway, Millersville, MD 21108.
