Barbara Brown Humphrey
NASSAWADOX -- Barbara Brown Humphrey, 63, of Nassawadox, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox.
She was the daughter of the late Olin P. Brown. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cape Charles. She graduated from Central High School in the Class of 1957 and Bessie B. Anderson School of Nursing.
She is survived by her husband, John Lee Humphrey; children, Jon Kilmon and his wife, Linda, of Belle Haven, Lynn Hale and her husband, Steve, of Christianburg, Va., and Terri McGee and her husband, Lenny, of Princess Anne; grandchildren, Jason and Bradley Hale, Chris and Tyler Kilmon and Anita and Diane Parks; stepchildren, Deborah Pocock and her husband, Doug, of Virginia Beach, Va., Pamela Thornes and her husband, Jeff, of Cape Charles, Kevin Humphrey and his wife, Tera, of Glen Allen, Va., and Elizabeth Walker and her husband, Charlie, of New York; stepgrandchildren, Jake Thornes, Jenny, Eryn and Sarah Pocock, Kaelee and Bryce Humphrey and Brandon McGee.
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Calvin Brown.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore. The Rev. Tammy Estep will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Fire Company Inc., PO Box 706, Exmore, Va. 23350.
Arrangements are being handled by Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore.

Arthur H. Murphy
SEAFORD -- Arthur H. Murphy died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. He was 70.
Mr. Murphy was born in Lincoln to William G. Murphy and Bertha Savage Murphy Messick. He had retired from the Milford SureCrop Fertilizer Plant in 1984 after 22 years of service, where he had served as plant manager. Mr. Murphy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
Mr. Murphy was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Murphy, in 1987 and his father, William G. Murphy.
He is survived by his mother, Bertha Messick of Delmar; a daughter and son in-law, Karen and Walter Elliott of Laurel; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Aimee Carter of Milton; two sisters, Helen Marine of Seaford and Kitty Tunnell of Federalsburg; two brothers, Ernest Murphy and Bobby Murphy, both of Laurel; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St. in Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour before services. Burial will be in St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1138 Parsons Road, Salisbury, Md. 21801-0163.

Sam Robert Wilkinson
OCEAN PINES -- Sam Robert Wilkinson, 8, of Ocean Pines, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003.
He was born in this area, a son of Robert H. Wilkinson Jr. and Joanna Engh Wilkinson of Ocean Pines.
He was the brother of Carly, Jack and Jamie Wilkinson and the late Jay Wilkinson.
His paternal grandparents are Peggy and Bill Kraemer and Robert and Alice Wilkinson, all of Baltimore. His maternal grandparents are Fred and Michaele Engh of West Palm Beach, Fla.
He was home-schooled and enjoyed the beach and swimming. Sam was a Junior Frontier Town Cowboy and had been active in the Ocean Pines Children's Theater. An avid soccer player, he played in Ocean City and Ocean Pines, and was a member of the MAKO Soccer League.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Community Church at Ocean Pines. Interment will be in Gardens of the Pines.
In Sam's memory, contributions may be made to the "Sam Wilkinson Trust," c/o Taylor Bank, 11103 Cathell Road, Berlin, Md. 21811.

Donald L. Bomhardt
SALISBURY -- Donald L. Bomhardt, 72, of Salisbury, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Mr. Bomhardt was the son of the late William H. Bomhardt and Elsie Rodney Bomhardt. His wife, June H. Curry Bomhardt, died July 17, 2000.
Mr. Bomhardt lived in the Baltimore area for many years and was director of the Towson Recreation Council during the mid-70s. He was a member of Elks Lodge 817 in Salisbury, the Optimist Club in Baltimore, Ravens Roost 44 and the Maryland Interclub Seniors Golf Association.
He is survived by four children, Craig Bomhardt of Elkridge, Md., Douglas Bomhardt of Ocean City, Eric Bomhardt of Dagsboro and Brian Bomhardt of Bethany; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Salisbury Elks Lodge. The Rev. Norma Llewellyn will officiate. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:45 p.m. at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Baltimore.

Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home on Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.

Mary A. Loeck
OCEAN CITY -- Mary A. Loeck, 44, of Ocean City died at her home Sunday night, Feb. 2, 2003, after a long illness.
Born in Santa Monica, Calif., March 5, 1958, Mary was the daughter of Vivian Patricia Whalen and the late Donald F. Whalen. She graduated from Broad Run High School in Sterling, Va., and attended college in Illinois.
In 1979, she married John M. Loeck in Herndon, Va.
She is survived by her three children, Shannon L. Loeck, a student at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt., Brady W. Loeck, a student at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., and Jonathan F. Loeck, a student at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.; her mother and brother, Steven Whalen, both of Ocean City; and her niece, Ashley Whalen, a student at Ocean City Elementary School. She is also survived by "Lady," a Labrador mix of venerable years who was her constant companion and loyal protector.
Known for her friendly manner, engaging smile and tenacious hold on life, Mary was devoted to her children and family. She was a talented artist and clothing designer and worked as an administrator in several computer learning companies and health care organizations.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church on 100th Street and Coastal Highway in Ocean City. Services will also be held in Westport, Conn., at a later date.

Madelyn H. Niblett
GUMBORO -- Madelyn H. Niblett, 81, of Gumboro, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Seaford Center in Seaford.
Born in Millsboro, she was a daughter of the late William and Sadie Parker Holston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Niblett, in 1977.
Madelyn was a telephone operator for the Diamond State telephone company for more than 30 years. She was a union representative for the Diamond State Telephone Operators and attended Gumboro Wesleyan Church in Gumboro.
She is survived by her son, Richard Lee Short and his wife, Ina, of Seaford; one brother, Granville Holston; one sister, Agnes Miller of Baltimore; and two grandchildren, Richard Lee Short II and Tina Marie Short.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home on Washington Street in Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert A. Hudson will officiate. Interment will be in Millsboro Cemetery.

Joann Victoria Wright
VENTON -- Joann Victoria Wright, 30, of Venton, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, in Somerset County. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment will be private.

George Alfred Parks
SALISBURY -- George Alfred Parks, 89, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Salisbury Center: Genesis ElderCare.
Born in St. Ann, Jamaica, he was a son of the late Charles and Ledorah Parks. His wife, Virginia E. Parks, preceded him in death.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury, where he served as a deacon. Prior to retirement, he was employed at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
He leaves to mourn one daughter, Beverly Delories Parks of Detroit; two devoted guardians, Deacon David Bailey and Maria Bailey of Parsonsburg; two brothers, Walter Parks of St. Ann and Clardiues Parks of New York; two sisters, Menorah Parks of London, England, and Annette Parks of St. Ann; three grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, located on the corner of Delaware Avenue and Booth Street in Salisbury. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Lewis N. Watson will officiate. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Springhill Memory Gardens on Route 50 near Hebron.
A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.

John Reuben Allen Jr.
SEAFORD -- John Reuben Allen Jr., 51, chief financial officer of Allen Family Foods of Seaford, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of April 9, 2003, after a long battle with progressive congestive heart failure.
Mr. Allen was born in Lewes to the late Sally Foster Allen and John Reuben Allen Sr. of Seaford on Nov. 28, 1951. Mr. Allen is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Susan Sabo Allen, and three children, Kelly Noel, Lindsay Christine and John Reuben III.
Mr. Allen was a high school graduate of the Peddie School in Hightstown, N.J., where he was captain of the baseball and golf teams. In 1973, he received his bachelor of science degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity and valuable member of the golf team. From there, he continued on to earn his M.B.A. from the University of Miami in 1975. John and Susan were married in March of 1975 and together made their home in Seaford, where John joined his father, John, uncles, Charles C. Allen Jr. and Warren L. Allen, and cousins, Chick and Warren Jr., in running the family business. Allen Family Foods was founded in 1919 by Mr. Allen's grandfather, C.C. Allen Sr. and Nellie G. Allen and has since grown from a small, family-owned poultry business to the 16th largest operation in the industry.
Mr. Allen was a devoted father and husband. He was well-respected among the community on both a personal and professional level. He enthusiastically enjoyed off-shore marlin fishing and was an excellent golfer. He had many friends with whom he enjoyed these activities. He participated in the White Marlin Open fishing tournament in Ocean City for more than 25 years. Mr. Allen was an active member of the Ocean City Marlin Club and the Ocean City Light Tackle Club.
Funeral services will be held at St. John's Methodist Church in Seaford at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to the Cleveland Heart Clinic, 9500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44195; or www.clevelandclinic.org/giving/; or the Nellie G. Allen Curiosity Shop, Middleford Road, Seaford, Del.19973.

Mary F. Cannon
PRINCESS ANNE -- Mary F. Cannon, 82, of Princess Anne, formerly of New York, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at her home.
Born in Portland, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Felix Perrault and Rose Balenger Perrault. Her husband, George Cannon, and a son, James Cannon, preceded her in death.
She was a retired LPN and attended St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Westover.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Colleen Cannon of Ottawa, Canada, Harold and Judith Cannon of Bayshore, N.Y., and Francis and Veronica Cannon of Crisfield; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Pocomoke City. Friends may call Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Miracle Hospital for Children, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Gladys Yates Nicholl
SALISBURY -- Gladys Yates Nicholl of Salisbury, formerly of Ogden, Pa., died Wednesday, April 9, 2003.
She was the beloved wife of the late David Joseph Nicholl Sr.
She is survived by one daughter, Rita Taylor Farmer; one son, David J. Nicholl Jr.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mytra Buell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Monday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ogden at 2446 Mill Road in Ogden, Pa. Interment will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, Pa. Friends may call Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Donations in her memory may be sent to the Salvation Army Community Center, 151 W. 15th St., Chester, Pa. 19013.
Arrangements are being handled by Robert Moreland Funeral Home in Trainer, Pa.

Milton B. West
MILLSBORO -- Milton B. West, 82, of Millsboro died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at his home.
Born in Whaleyville, he was a son of the late Walter and Annie Carey West.
He was a beautification crew foreman for the Delaware Department of Transportation, and retired in 1983 after 16 years. He also operated Little Benny's Barbershop in Millsboro for several years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maridell White West; three daughters, Brenda West, Linda Cullen and her husband, Toby, and Kathy Hudson and her husband, Sprig, all of Millsboro; one brother, Oliver West of Bishopville; one sister, Helena Clark of Gumboro; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home at 211 Washington St. in Millsboro, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in Millsboro Cemetery in Millsboro. The Rev. Dr. James C. Van Der Wall will officiate.
Donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, 600 DuPont Highway, Georgetown, Del. 19947.

Jerry Joseph King
WETIPQUIN -- Jerry Joseph King, 51, of Wetipquin Road in Quantico died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Penin-sula Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of Ella Bailey King and the late Luther King.
He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Quantico. He was employed for 18 years by the Wicomico County Board of Education as building service manager at Salisbury Middle School on Morris Street. He was a member of MSTA Union and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his mother, Ella Bailey King of Wetipquin; three daughters, Lakisha King of Yuma, Ariz., Deborah King of Fairfield, Calif., and Lotoya Hudson of Salisbury; a son, James Clark III, stationed in Italy; four grandchildren; a sister, Arnetta Sample of Salisbury; a brother, Calvin Bailey of Wetipquin; a brother-in-law, Joseph "Little" Sample; two nephews; an uncle; other relatives and friends; and two devoted friends, Beth Yurek and Angela Scott.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Salisbury Middle School on Morris Street in Salisbury. The Rev. Delores Wilks will officiate. Interment will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at Stewart Funeral Home in Salisbury.
