Priscilla K. Ray
CAMBRIDGE - Priscilla Anne Keefer Ray, 76, died Friday night, Feb. 16, 2001 at the Dorchester General Hospital.
She was born Oct. 14, 1924 in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Claude Warfield Keefer and Myrtle E. S. Boteler Keefer.
On July 7, 1951 she married William A. H. Ray. He died Feb. 12, 1998.
Mrs. Ray attended Johns Hopkins University and graduated from the University of Maryland. She was an aeronautical engineer with the Martin-Marietta Corp. from where she retired. Mrs. Ray loved her family and enjoyed gardening and antiques.
She was a member of St. John's Chapel in Cornersville. She was also a member of the Dorchester Unit 91 American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Republican Central Committee.
Surviving are two daughters: Priscilla S. Ray and her fiance, George Engelhardt of Baltimore, Susan H. R. Shortt and her husband, Gilbert J. of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son, William H. Ray of Baltimore; three grandchildren, Katherine D. Brewer, Margaret W. Shortt, Taylor J. Shortt and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Following the service of morning prayer at St. John's Chapel in Cornersville at 9:30 a.m. March 25, the Commendation from the Burial of the Dead will be read for the repose of the soul of Mrs. Ray. Inurnment was previously held in St. James Church, Monkton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made in Mrs. Ray's memory to St. John's Chapel, Cornersville, 1213 Hudson Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
Arrangements are being handled by the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home.
John W. Squires
LINKWOOD - John W. Squires, 66, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 at the Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.
He was born Aug. 29, 1934 at Bozman, the son of the late George and Sadie Ferguson Squires.
Mr. Squires had attended schools at St. Michaels. He had served in the U.S. Navy from Sept. 23, 1954 until Nov. 28, 1958. On July 31, 1965 he was married to the former Ruth Fitzhugh.
Mr. Squires had owned and operated a number of service stations in the Cambridge area for 42 years. He had been an avid Orioles fan for years.
He was a life member of Dorchster Post 91 American Legion, a member and vice commander of Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Squires is survived by four daughters: Tammy Squires Todd of Secretary, Karen L. Boyd and her husband, David of Chesapeake, Va., Vera R. Cusick of Linkwood, Lena C. Mast and her husband, Seth of Leesburg, Va.; two sons: Charles F. Cusick and his wife, Debbie of Federalsburg and A. Jeffrey Cusick and his wife, Lisa of Hillsboro. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Florence Tarleton of Baltimore and Patsy Adkins of Ridgely; four brothers: Bobby Squires, Tommy Squires, George Squires and Richard Salisbury, all of Baltimore and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, J. William "Billy" Cusick; two grandchildren; one sister, Doris Croner and one brother, Charles Squires.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Paul L. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah.
The family will receive friends 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dickie Insley, Byrd Willey, Randy Todd, Ricky Shorter, Jason Wise and Buzzy Gore.
Squires Addendum
LINKWOOD - John W. Squires, 66, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 at the Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.
In addition to his survivors listed in Monday's obituary is a brother, James Squires of Baltimore.
The family will receive friends 7:30 to 9 tonight at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul L. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah.
Amy Z. Cornish-Jackson
CAMBRIDGE - Amy Z. Cornish-Jackson, 87, of Aireys, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital.
She was born Dec. 20, 1913, in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Robert S. and Dora Ward Cornish.
She attended schools in Dorchester County and was employed at various factories and canneries.
She married Owens R. Jackson Sr. who preceded her in death on June 1986.
Mrs. Jackson was a member of Waters UM Church at Fork Neck and served as a member of the Fork Neck Senior Choir and the United Methodist Women until her health failed. She loved to cook and have her family and friends visit.
She is survived by six children: Oneida F. Jones of Cambridge, Owens R. Jackson Jr. and wife, Ida Mae of Glen Arden, Bernard Jackson and wife, Laura Mae, Ronald Jackson and wife, Lillie Mae, Dorothy Jackson and Charles Jackson and wife, Sarah, all of Cambridge. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Russell O. Jones and Kelvin Jones of Jonesboro, Ga., Monica Jackson of Richmond, Va., Ronald Jeffrey Beasley and Brian Jones, both of Cambridge, Schivon Jackson of Glen Arden, Erica Jackson of Alpharette, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Luther Cornish and Fred Cornish and wife, Thelma, both of Cambridge; two sisters, Essie Mae Woolford of Cambridge, Isadora Brown of Newark, N.J.; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Edward Jackson of Cambridge; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Cornish of Cambridge; special friends, Thurman and Corena Bryan of Trappe, Albanus Hooper Jr. of Cambridge and James Barham of Hurlock; several stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death other than her parents and husband were one brother and three sisters: Robert Cornish Jr., Elizabeth Woolford, Emily Conway and Leona Carr.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Waters UM Church in Fork Neck with the Rev. Harvey G. Chase officiating. Burial will follow at Bucktown Cemetery.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Henry Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Benjamin Meekins
CAMBRIDGE - Benjamin Meekins, 104, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at the Mallard Bay Nursing Center.
He was born Sept. 24, 1896 in Taylors Island, son of the late Arron and Martha Meekins.
Mr. Meekins received his education in the public schools of Dorchester County and was employed for awhile at Sparrows Point in Baltimore. He also worked in the canning factories of Dorchester County.
Mr. Meekins was married to the former Etta Jennifer.
While living in Baltimore, he was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. When he returned to the Eastern Shore, he became a member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church until he died.
He was a member of the singing and praying band and he loved to sing.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three daughters, Louise Meekins Wallace, Agnes Meekins and Letha Meekins.
He is survived by four grandchildren, Benjamin W. Meekins, Shirley Meekins Sanders, Maureen D. Brown, Burman King; seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke UM Church with the Rev. Darlene Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Lane's United Methodist Church at Taylors Island.
Friends may visit from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at the Henry Funeral Home. The family will receive friends noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Dorothy C. Stevens
CAMBRIDGE - Dorothy C. Stevens, 86, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 at the Dorchester General Hospital.
She was born July 24, 1914 at Aireys, the daughter of the late Norman H. and Ethel Thomas Corkran.
Mrs. Stevens was married to Jackson C. Stevens on Aug. 30, 1937. He passed away on Jan. 24, 1988.
She had been employed at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center, the Rob Roy Co., Madison Cannery, Bumble Bee, Dillon's Restaurant and the Cambridge House. She had retired in 1983.
Mrs. Stevens had made her home in Madison from 1952 until 1991. She was a member of Joppa United Methodist Church at Madison and also was a member of the volunteer fire companies at Madison, Church Creek and Taylors Island. She had made her home at the Bradford House in Cambridge.
Mrs. Stevens is survived by two sons, Russell J. Stevens of Manasas, Va., and William C. Stevens of Cambridge; a daughter, Ethel L. Wingate of Fort Loudon, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Madison United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rhoda C. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining churchyard.
The family will receive friends 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge.

Evelyn E. Quillen
FEDERALSBURG - Evelyn Marie Elrick Quillen, 93, of Liberty Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 at her home.
She was born April 21, 1907 in Frostburg, the daughter of the late John Edward and Marie Glime Elrick. Her husband, William R. Quillen, preceded her in death on March 6, 1980.
She was a graduate of Federalsburg High School and Salisbury State College. She owned and operated a grocery store, was a school teacher and a homemaker.
Mrs. Quillen was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, a member of the former Nanticoke Eastern Star Chapter 640 and a member of the Federalsburg Senior Center and the Senior Serenaders.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Elrick R. and Dorothy "Dot" Quillen of Georgetown, Del., and Ronald H. and Cecilia Quillen of Woodbridge, Va.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Elrick of Federalsburg.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Owens Elrick and Alton Elrick.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with the Rev. David Heistand and the Rev. Peter Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 7-9 tonight where an Eastern Star service will be conducted at 8 p.m.
Samuel C. Thomas
DENTON - Samuel C. Thomas, 65, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at the Caroline County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born Sept. 25, 1937 in Dorchester County.
Mr. Thomas is survived by six sisters: Flossie Davis of Cambridge, Rolinda Bowens Tompkins of Newport News, Va., Brenda Stanley of Cambridge, Laverne and Donzelle Bowens of Cambridge and Burnette Bowens of Philadelphia, Pa.; four brothers: Wayman Jackson of Mardela, Richard Bowens and Howard Bowens of Cambridge and Randal Bowens of Salisbury.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Thomas and his father, Samuel D. Thomas.
There will be a private service held at Bucktown Cemetery, Bucktown.
Arrangements were handled by the Moores Funeral Home in Denton.
Sophie E. Mollock
CAMBRIDGE - Sophie Evelle Mollock, 48, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Dorchester General Hospital.
Born March 14, 1954, in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Carrie Bryan Molock and Howard Chester. She attended public schools in Dorchester County and remained a resident of Cambridge until her death.
Her work history was primarily in the crabbing industry. She worked at Mallard Bay Care Center as a nurse's aide until her health failed. She was also an employee at Best Value Inn.
She is survived by two sisters, Arletta Demby of Salisbury and Mary Alice Molock of Cambridge; two brothers, Cleodore and Leo Molock of Cambridge; two sisters-in-law, Edna Mae and Ruth Molock of Cambridge; one brother-in-law, Frederick Jones of Cambridge; three aunts, Reba Jones of Philadelphia, and Bertina Cornish and Francis Brown of Cambridge; a special friend, Delmar Bowens of Cambridge; one goddaughter, Cre'Breshia Stanley of Cambridge; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her cat, Lucy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Granville Molock; paternal grandparents Charles Wesley and Ethel Jenkins Bryan Sr.; maternal grandparents Robert and Mamie Chester; one sister, Arizona Kennard; one nephew, Leo Molock Jr.; and several aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. today at National Church of God. Pastor Henry Carswell will officiate.
There will be a viewing from noon to 1 p.m. today at the National Church of God.
Timothy P. Cockran
HURLOCK - Timothy Patrick Cockran of Hurlock died Friday, February 14, 2003 at leis residence. He was 51.
He was born on Aug. 14, 1951 in Cheverly, the son of the late Joseph Cockran and Evelyn Zimmerman Cockran.
He graduated from Atholton High School in Columbia. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He was a self-employed roofer with his company Cockran Roofing.
He was a member of Hurlock American Legion Post 243 in Hurlock, V.F.W. Post 5246 in Federalsburg, Moose Lodge 1504 in Laurel, and Poor Boys Yacht Club in Secretary.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Mattingly Cockran; a daughter, Kathy Lynn Jackson of Pasadena; three step-daughters, Anita Marie Arnold of Cumberland, Stacey Ann Vogel of Hurlock, and Teresa Renee Rose of Tilghman Island; seven grandchildren; six brothers, William Cockran of Easton, Thomas Cockran of Laurel, Md., Patrick Cockran of Westminster, Arthur Cockran of Barclay, Harry Cockran of Pasadena, and James Cockran of Seaford, Del.; two sisters, Evelyn Welsh of Laurel, Md., and Ruth Cockran; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Eastern Shore Veterans' Cemetery. Friends may call at the veterans' chapel from 2:30-3 p.m.

Andrea L. Ennals
SALISBURY - Andrea Lyn Ennals, 27, passed away on Thursday at The Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born Aug. 11, 1975 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of Laurine and Buddy Andrew Ennals Sr.
Ms. Ennals attended the public schools of Dorchester County and graduated from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in 1996.
She was employed at the Chesapeake Bay Center in Easton. She was a member oŁ Christ Rock U.M. Church Taylor's Island Charge and helped in the church any way she could.
She was a member of The Concerned Citizens For Sickle Cell Anemia.
Grandfathers Ivy Ennals Sr. and Charles Wongus Sr., and grandmother Lenora Ross preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Buddy A.
