Morris Services

CAMBRIDGE - Funeral services for Hazel B. Morris, 91, of Bishops Head, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at Dorchester General Hospital will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Funeral Home. The Rev. Pardee Bramble will officiate. Burial will take place in Dorchester Memorial Park.

Friends will be received at the funeral home during the hour preceding the service.

Mrs. Morris was the wife of the late Brady W. Morris.

Paul D. Baker

CAMBRIDGE - Paul D. Baker, 87, passed away late Wednesday night, Feb. 12, 2003 at the Dorchester General Hospital. He was the husband of the former Norma Perdue.

He was born April 22, 1915 in Salisbury, the son of the late William Thomas and Stella Davis Baker. He was raised and attended public schools in Virginia Beach, Va. and Salisbury and for several years attended college, studying business and drafting.

Mr. Baker served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 and was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground.

In 1949 the Bakers moved to Cambridge where he was employed by the Nuttle Lumber Co. Mr. Baker was a draftsman, estimator and served as manager of the local business and later worked with Peninsula Builders and Robbins and Robbins until retiring in 1986.

For more than 50 years, Mr. Baker was a devoted member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and has served the church in numerous capacities. He was also a former member and past president of the Cambridge Lions Club.

Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, to whom he was married on May 33, 1937; one daughter, Bonnie Baker Keplinger of Hurlock; two grandchilden, William W. Thomas III of Alexandria, Va. and Terri Thomas Touchton of Cambridge and one great-granddaughter, Hillary Mehgan Hastings.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Farrell Lane Baker.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's UM Church by the Rev. Dale L. Brown. Burial will take place in East New Market Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church during the hour preceding the service.

Memorials may be made to either the American Cancer Society, c/o Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 or St. Paul's UM Church, c/o Shirley Kailianu, 8 Somerset Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.

The Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, is handling the arrangements.

Baker addendum

CAMBRIDGE - The funeral service of Paul D. Baker has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cambridge. Friends will be received at the church during the hour before the service.

Mr. Baker passed away at Dorchester General Hospital on Thursday. Arrangements are by Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.

Sophie E. Mollock

CAMBRIDGE - Sophie Evelle Mollock, 48, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 at Dorchester General Hospital.

Her immediate survivors include: Arletta Demby of Salisbury, Cleodore (Stick), Leo and Mary Molock, all of Cambridge.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time and are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home, P.A.

E. Peter Wright Sr.

CAMBRIDGE - E. Peter Wright Sr., 72, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

He was born Sept. 18, 1928 in Cambridge, the son of the late Kemp Barber and Elsie Willey Wright.

Mr. Wright had attended schools in Cambridge. He had enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in October 1945. He later transferred to the U.S. Air Force and remained in the Air Force until Jan. 31, 1968. While serving in the Air Force he had served in the Berlin Air Lift, Germany, France, England, Japan and in Korea during the Korean War.

He was a member of Spedden United Methodist Church, where he had been a member of the choir for over 20 years.

On Aug. 20, 1977 he was married to the former Carolyn Dail.

He was a member of Dorchester Post 91, American Legion, Charter Member and Lifetime Member of Choptank Memorial Post 7460 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Besides his wife, Mr. Wright is survived by three daughters, Donna M. Landon of Cambridge, Tina W. Kight of Camden, N.C., Irene Sard of Cambridge; three sons, E. Petey Wright Jr. of Pittsfield, Mass., Tommy E. Moore of Chesapeake, Va. and Wayne D. Moore of Harleyville, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, E. Lee Wright of Cambridge and two nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Willey.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Gloria S. Attix officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday during the hour before the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Spedden United Methodist Church, c/o the Rev. Gloria S. Attix, 1013 Hudson Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Wingate, Ricky Hubbard, Thomas Palmer, Andy Willey, Joseph Ruark and Kevin Asplen.

Duane T. Rohrer

WOOLFORD - Duane T. Rohrer, 49, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001.

He was born Aug. 31, 1951 in Baltimore, the son of Thomas Leon and Lorraine McCoy Rohrer.

Mr. Rohrer was raised in Randallstown and was a 1969 graduate of Milford Mill High School.

For the past 15 years he had resided at Woolford. Mr. Rohrer was interested in hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Cambridge Moose Lodge and spent much time as a volunteer at the local lodge.

Mr. Rohrer is survived by two daughters, Casey Leigh Powers of Tennessee and Sabrina Rohrer of Woodbine; one grandson; his parents who reside in Abingdon; a brother, Craig Rohrer of Ellicott City and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Cambridge Moose Lodge on Moose Lodge Road.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, 114 Baptist St., Salisbury, MD 21801.

Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

Howard S. Kuhn III

CAMBRIDGE - Howard S. Kuhn III, 70, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at the Chesapeake Woods Center.

He was born in Baltimore, the son of the late Howard S. and Ruth L. Kuhn.

Mr. Kuhn is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, David and Charlotte Kuhn of Cambridge; three nephews, Steve, Jeff and Brian Kuhn; a niece, Margie Marple; five grand-nieces; three grand-nephews; two stepnephews, Aaron and Andrew Waddell; one stepniece, Amy Waddell; and an aunt and uncle, Dr. Albin O. and Eileen Kuhn.

Services will be held privately.

Michael C. Harding

BROOKVIEW - Michael Clyde Harding, 23, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001 near his residence.

He was born Oct. 27, 1977 in Easton, the son of Clyde S. and M. Leslie Helmer Harding of Brookview.

At the time of his death he was a heavy equipment operator with Harding Lodding of Reid's Grove. He was a 1995 graduate of North Dorchester High School.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Kevin S. Harding of Brookview; paternal grandfather, Howard Harding of Brookview and paternal grandmother, Betty Parks of Cambridge; maternal grandparents, Alex and Bette Helmer of Federalsburg; paternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Harding of Reid's Grove; maternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Helmer of Cordova.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market with the Rev. Roy D. Collins officiating. Burial will follow in East New Market Cemetery.

Friends may call 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eldorado-Brookview Volunteer Fire Company, c/o Rose Murphy, 5752 Rhodesdale-Eldorado Road, Rhodesdale, MD 21659.

James P. Vickers Jr.

CAMBRIDGE - James Pershing (Jim) Vickers Jr., 50, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

He was born Oct. 22, 1952 in Cambridge, the son of the late James P. Vickers Sr. and Thelma Dayton Hughes Vickers.

Mr. Vickers was a graduate of Cambridge High School, Class of 1971.

From 1972-1980 he worked for the Cambridge Police Department, Trappe Police Department and part-time for Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. He had then worked for Steven R. Marshall Plumbing and Heating and Speakman from 1981 to 1995. He had also worked for Johnson Towers and the Quality Inn prior to becoming disabled.

Mr. Vickers used to be a member of Rescue Fire Company.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cambridge, where he had become a deacon of the church.

Mr. Vickers' hobby was making model airplanes.

He is survived by two children, Beth Vickers of Cambridge and Brad Vickers of Heidelberg, Germany.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Randall Blackmon. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the columbarium at Greenlawn Cemetery, Cambridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to First Baptist Church of Cambridge, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula, 706 Idlewild Ave., Easton, MD 21601.

Catherine C. Saunders

BALTIMORE - Catherine Chester Saunders, 80, passed away early Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003 at Johns Hopkins Bay View Center.

She was born Sept. 8, 1922 in Harrisville, daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Chester. She was educated in the Dorchester County public school system.

Mrs. Saunders was converted at an early age and joined St. Paul UM Church and was very active in the church. Her mother was one of her Sunday school teachers.

At an early age, she moved to Baltimore and there she met and married Thomas Saunders. She and her husband were the founders of the Angels Visit Baptist Church. Mrs. Saunders became an evangelist. Under the guidance of her husband she worked with her church until her health failed.

Mrs. Saunders had many gifts and was able to create floral centerpieces and many other decorations for her church and her home. She also became a Chef cook.

Her survivors include her husband; a son, Gary (Portia) Cooper; a grandson, Chedan Cooper (Patric); one great-granddaughter, Nijah Chae Cooper; two stepsons and two stepdaughters, all of Baltimore; a goddaughter, Berdina Ross of Cambridge; five sisters, Nellie Dunnock, Annie Reese, Rosa Woolford, Alice Wongus (Nathaniel) all of Cambridge and Agnes Cooper of Harrisville Road. She is also survived by an adopted sister, Sarah Stewart of Thompsontown; a brother, Joseph Chester (Victoria) of Bayly Road; and a devoted friend of the family, Doris Greene and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's UM Church, Harrisville with the Rev. Turhan Potter officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service.

The Henry Funeral Home, P.A. is handling the arrangements.

Ruth M. Wolff

EASTON - Ruth M. Wolff, 90, died at her home on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003.

She was born April 20, 1912 in Dorchester County, the daughter of the late William James Jr. and Clara Watson Brannock Marshall.

After graduating from Cambridge High School in 1928, she went to New York City where she worked as a clerk in a bakery shop. In August of 1937, she married E. Rodman Wolff and they made their home in Baltimore until moving to Easton in 1947.

Mrs. Wolff was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Easton and the United Methodist Women of the church. She was also a former member of Three Towns Homemakers Club and was a charter member, since 1965, of the Ladies Bible Study and Fellowship, having served as secretary of the group. She was known for her card ministry to friends and shut-ins and for baking banana bread. Needlework was also a hobby.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, H. Rodman Wolff of Easton; a daughter, the Rev. Nancy W. Soulsman of Ocean City; a sister, Esther Marshall Higgins of Cambridge; three grandchilden, Brad A. Soulsman of Ocean City, Becky S. Lynch of Laurel, Del. and Sara W. Lewis of Salisbury and three great-grandchilden, Madison Renee Soulsman, Morgan Ashley Soulsman and Brook Logan Lynch.

Mrs. Wolff was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth M. Backman and three brothers, Ralph Marshall, Donald Marshall and James Marshall.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton. Burial will follow at the Dorchester Memorial Park in Cambridge.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Mark's United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, 100 Peachblossom Road, Easton, MD 21601 or to the Lighthouse Church of God Building Fund, 11742 Sinepuxent Road, Berlin, MD 21811.

Adelaide Campbell

SALISBURY - Adelaide Campbell, 88, formerly of Claymont and Lewes, Del., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001.

Mrs. Campbell was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star Mt. Olive Chapter in Philadelphia.

She was married to Roy Campbell who preceded her in death in 1996.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her daughter, Adelaide "Addie" Eckardt of Cambridge and her son, Leroy "Bud" Campbell of St. Georges, Del.; a brother, Kenneth Bacon of California; four grandchildren: Sara Campbell of Virginia Beach, Va., Lt. Cmdr. John Eckardt, Jeffrey Eckardt and Lt. Cmdr. Marc Eckardt and two great-granddaughters, Amelia and Megan Eckardt.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Campbell.

The memorial and funeral service was held Feb. 10 in Wallingford, Pa.

Contributions to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.

Harding Addendum, 23

BROOKVIEW - Funeral services for Michael Clyde Harding, 23, who died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market. The Rev. Roy D. Ethel M. Bailey

CAMBRIDGE - Ethel M. Bailey, 88, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 at Chesapeake Woods Center.

She was born Oct. 4, 1912 at Hooper Island, the daughter of the late Elmer Bailey and Bunie Dukes Keyes.

Ms. Bailey was a graduate of Hooper Island High School. She had worked for Charles Parks & Son Seafood, Hooper Island.

In 1941 Ms. Bailey moved to Cambridge where she then worked for the J. M. Clayton Seafood Co. Ms. Bailey enjoyed to travel and being with her family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, Rudolph "Rudy" Aaron and his wife, Patricia of Cambridge; Tony Bailey and his wife, Joyce of Hurlock; six grandchildren: Stephen L. Aaron Sr. and his wife, Judy of Hudson, Brenda Johnson and her husband, Chris of Laurel, Del., Mark Bailey and his wife, Jenny, Alicia Kudlich and her husband, Richard, all of Denton, Bridgette Bailey of Hurlock, Jennifer Todd and her husband, Jed of Cambridge; six great-grandchildren: Stephen Aaron Jr., Hunter Aaron, Taylor Johnson, Jordon Bailey, Marshall Bailey, Brianna Todd; a half brother, Elmer P. Bailey of Washington, D.C.; a half sister, Betty Cunningham of California; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her parents was a granddaughter, Kimberly Bailey.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, where the family received friends one hour prior to the service. Burial followed at Dorchester Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Aaron, Mark Bailey, Adrien Hansen, Eddie Shockley, Calvin Rossy and Charles Brohawn.

Memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 2233, Salisbury, MD 21801.
