Dorcas P. Jenkins

EASTON - Dorcas Plugge Jenkins, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at the Genesis Eldercare-The Pines.

She was born April 18, 1928 in Easton, the daughter of the late Helmuth E. Sr., and Lillian E. Ritter Plugge.

She was a 1945 graduate of Easton High School. In 1956 she married R. George Pritchett in Kileen, Texas. Later, they moved to Cambridge, where she worked for a number of years as a waitress at the Shoals Restaurant. Following her husband's death in February of 1974, she moved to Easton where she worked as a waitress at the H & G Restaurant.

Mrs. Jenkins is survived by a son, F. Clifton Cole Jr. of Easton and a brother, Helmuth E. "Teeter" Plugge of Easton.

A sister, Joyce Butler, is deceased.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Easton where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Easton.

Geneva O. Bonadio

MANASSAS, Va. - Geneva Oleavia Bonadio, 93, died Nov. 11, 2002, at Culpeper Memorial Hospital in Culpepper, Va.

Before moving to Manassas, she spent most of her life in Cambridge, where she was born and raised.

She is survived by four sons, Michael P. Bonadio of Perry Hall, Robert Bonadio of New Jersey, John A. Bonadio of Bangor, Maine, and Edward W. Bonadio of Gilbert, Arizona; one sister, Mary Emma McHenry of Baltimore; and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Bonadio.

A memorial service was held Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church in Cambridge. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Andrew M. Radcliffe

CINCINNATI - Andrew McKim "Andy" Radcliffe, 27, formerly of Cambridge, died suddenly Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at the home of his brother and sister-in-law in Lafayette, Ind.

Born Feb. 26, 1975, in Cambridge, he was the son of George Radcliffe Jr. and Jacquelyn McCann Radcliffe.

Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Scott Radcliffe and wife Meghan of Lafayette, Ind., and Greg Radcliffe and wife Melissa of Cambridge; paternal grandparents George and Augusta "Gussie" Radcliffe of Cambridge; and maternal grandmother Mary McCann of Virginia Beach, Va.

Preceding him in death was his maternal grandfather, John McCann.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Andy Radcliffe Memorial Fund, c/o Bank of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 757, Cambridge, MD 21613.

Normalee R. Brannock

CAMBRIDGE - Normalee R. Brannock, 82, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 30, 2002 at the Mallard Bay Care Center. She had resided at the local nursing home since November of 1995. She was the wife of the late T. Stuart Brannock.

Mrs. Brannock was born Aug. 16, 1920 in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Carl B. and Irene Tyler Rumbley. She was raised and attended public schools in Cambridge and was married to Mr. Brannock on Oct. 10, 1940. He passed away on Jan. 10, 1996.

Mrs. Brannock was employed at Richardson's Style Shop for many years, retiring in 1995. Prior to that she worked as a waitress at the High Spot.

She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Brannock is survived by two sons, Thomas S. Brannock Jr. of Shawnee, Okla. and C. Robert Brannock of Cambridge; seven grandchildren - David Brannock, Scott Brannock, Leeanne Young, Mindy Carmine, Shay Smith, Kay Ford and Theresa Ford; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carlotta May of Annapolis and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Rumbley and a sister, Betty Brannock.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home by the Rev. Dale L. Vroman. Burial will follow in the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery, Eastern Shore at Beulah.

Friends will be received at the funeral home tonight from 7:30 to 9.

Lambert W. Olp

CAMBRIDGE - Lambert W. "Bud" Olp, 85, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was the husband of the former Alice Ann Cook and had just recently moved back to Cambridge.

He was born Feb. 27, 1917 in Medina, N.Y., the son of the late James Lambert and Anita Winters Olp.

He was raised in New York state and as a young man moved to the Seattle area and was employed by Castle & Cook, the parent company of Bumble Bee Tuna, for 35 years. In 1962 Mr. Olp moved to Cambridge to help open the Bumble Bee plant here, serving as assistant plant manager and in 1968 became plant manager. In 1977 he retired and moved to Gearhart, Ore.

Mr. Olp was an avid golfer and had been a member of the Gearhart Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, to whom he was married on Jan. 5, 1976; a stepdaughter, Rose Marie Foxwell of Seaford, Del.; a stepson, Coleman Wayne Cook of Cambridge; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Brady; a sister, Marjorie Erikson and a brother, Jack Olp.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund, c/o Lorraine Dickerson, 10 Harris Drive, Cambridge, MD 21613.

Services will be private and arrangements are by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.

Amelia C. Kristler

CAMBRIDGE - Amelia C. Kristler, 96, passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 2, 2002 at the Mallard Bay Care Center. She was the wife of the late George M. Kristler.

She was born Nov. 25, 1906 at Reid's Grove, the daughter of the late James and Blanche Bradich Stokes.

In 1922 she was married to Sidney W. Chase. For most of her life she resided in the Vienna and Cambridge areas and in 1964 was married to Mr. Kristler, who passed away in the mid 1970s.

Mrs. Kristler was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Roger W. Chase of Cambridge; three grandsons, Robert S. Hill Jr., R. David Chase and Sidney R. Chase; one great-granddaughter, Heather Hill Wilson; one great-great-granddaughter, Briana Nicole Wilson and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Hilda C. Hill and a brother, Glennie Stokes.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the Thomas Funeral Home by the Rev. Randall T. Blackmon. Burial will follow in East New Market Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home during the hour before the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.

Hattie L. R. Kinder

FEDERALSBURG - Hattie Lewis Reed Kinder, 90, formerly of Federalsburg, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at The Pines in Easton.

She was born Aug. 2, 1912 in the Concord Area of Caroline County, the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Lola Alford Lewis Sr.

Her first marriage was to Daniel Reed Jr. of Stoney Point, N.Y. on April 9, 1932. Mr. Reed passed away May 1, 1963. On Oct. 21, 1967 she married Robert Linden Kinder of Milford, Del. Mr. Kinder passed away Aug. 9, 1992.

She was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg for 65 years.

Mrs. Kinder is survived by one daughter, Susie Reed Ewing and her husband, Carl Sr. of Bethlehem; four grandchildren, Melinda Ewing of Preston, Carl Ewing Jr. and his wife, Sara of Hurlock, Danielle E. Curtin and her husband, Robert of Preston and Stephen Ewing and his wife, Joy of Preston. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Jennifer Coleman, Lori'el Curtin, Carli and Rachel Ewing, Kirsten Ewing and one step great-grandson, Zachary Darling.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Bettie Marie in 1949; one brother, Charles Edward "Choker" Lewis in 1963 and one grandson, Jeffrey Daniel Ewing in 1964.

Her funeral and burial were preplanned by the decedent and will be conducted privately on Wednesday at Williamson Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Eastern Shore Chapter, 212 West Main St., Suite 202C, Salisbury, MD 21801-9933.

Andrew M. Radcliffe

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Andrew McKim (Andy) Radcliffe, 27, formerly of Cambridge, died suddenly Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at the home of his brother and sister-in-law in Lafayette, Ind.

He was born Feb. 26, 1975 in Cambridge, the son of George M. Radcliffe Jr. and Jacquelyn McCann Radcliffe of Cambridge.

Andy was a graduate of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, Class of 1993, where he was the class valedictorian. He received his bachelor's of arts degree from Princeton University, Class of 1997 and completed his master's degree in 2000 from the University of Miami, Oxford, Ohio.

Mr. Radcliffe was a writer and an English composition teacher at the University of Miami, Oxford, Ohio. He has just completed his first novel entitled, "Where There Is Water."

His hobbies were writing, reading, tennis and he was an all around sports enthusiast especially liking the New York Yankees.

Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Scott Radcliffe and his wife, Meghan of Lafayette, Ind., Greg Radcliffe and his wife, Melissa of Cambridge; paternal grandparents, George M. Radcliffe Sr. and Augusta (Gussie) Radcliffe of Cambridge; maternal grandmother, Mary McCann of Virginia Beach, Va.; aunts and uncles, Nancy and Michael Marcus of Danbury, Conn., Buz and Jane Follmer of Cambridge and several cousins.

Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, John McCann and aunts and uncles, William B. Radcliffe, Augusta R. Follmer and Mary McKim Radcliffe.

His cremated remains will be inurned privately on the family property at Windemere Farm, Cambridge.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church, Glasgow Street and Hambrooks Boulevard, Cambridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Andy Radcliffe Memorial Fund, c/o Bank of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 757, Cambridge, MD 21613.

Alice M. Lloyd

CAMBRIDGE - Alice M. Lloyd, 86, died Monday night, Dec. 2, 2002 at Dorchester General Hospital.

She was born Dec. 12, 1915 at Bishops head, the daughter of the late Reuben Bramble and Lola Jones Bramble.

Mrs. Lloyd had been in the Glasgow Nursing Home for several years and in the Mallard Bay Care Center for the past few weeks.

Surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Aileen Bramble; brother-in-law, Arnold Brooks, all of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death, besides her parents, were three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marjorie Brooks, Ruth and Edward (Ham) Tolley, Imogene and Thomas Potter.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Dorchester Memorial Park. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Douglas Ridley, pastor of Grace UM Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials offerings may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race St., Cambridge, MD 21613.

Arrangements are being handled by the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A.

Melvin L. Cornish

CAMBRIDGE - Melvin Lee Cornish, 52, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at Dorchester General Hospital.

He was born Dec. 19, 1949 in Cambridge, son of Rosie and Anthony Cornish.

Known to many as "Easy," he was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. Mr. Cornish enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged.

At the time of his death, he was a member of Ministers of Citizens. Mr. Cornish loved reading the Bible.

He is survived by his mother; four children - Freida Henry (Carol) of Salisbury, Ikeia Cornish of Cambridge, Ajon and Dajon Cornish of Baltimore; four grandchildren, Carol, Ryan, Andre and Ariona; five siblings - Margaret Cephas of Hurlock, Clarence Cornish (Dora) of South Carolina, Valarie Copper (Donald) of Hurlock, Audrey George (Thomas) of Hurlock and Larry Cornish of Cambridge; a special friend, Sharon Jones and a number of other relatives.

Mr. Cornish was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Andrew Cornish and a sister, Ernestine Thompson.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church in Cambridge.

There will be a viewing held 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Henry Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

Burial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery, Eastern Shore at Beulah.

Louise A. Giese

EASTON - Louise Anna Giese, 83, passed away early Thursday morning, Dec. 5, 2002 at the William Hill Health Care Center.

She was born Jan. 21, 1919 near Cambridge, the daughter of the late Ernest August and Theresia Horwath Giese.

Ms. Giese was raised on the family farm on Maple Dam Road and was a graduate of Cambridge High School. She worked at the Herbert Hearn Hardware store. For some years she made her home with a sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Guy Bradshaw in Woolford.

She enjoyed reading and gardening and for 20 years she was a volunteer at the Lutheran Mission in Cambridge. For the past 21 years had resided in Easton with her sister, Elizabeth Bosse.

Ms. Giese was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Cambridge.

She is survived by three sisters, Emma Saathoff and Elizabeth Bosse, both of Easton and Margaret Asche of Cordova, and 10 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Bradshaw and a brother, William Giese.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Immanuel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Joan P. Evans. Burial will take place in Dorchester Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the church during the hour before the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 900 Peachblossom Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.

Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

John M. Whiting

CAMBRIDGE - John Miller Whiting, 85, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at his home.

He was born June 17, 1917 in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Miller E. and Anita Harris Whiting.

Mr. Whiting owned and operated Howard Furniture and later Ethan Allen in Dover, Del. He previously owned Kessler & Whiting Appliance Store in Ridgley. He was very active in the early years of establishing Sutton Park in Ridgely.

Mr. Whiting held various offices in the Dover Lions Club, Dover Chamber of Commerce and the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department.

He was married to Kathleen "Kitty" Whiting who preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 1996.

Mr. Whiting is survived by two daughters, Nancy Johnson and her husband, Gordy of North East and Barbara Heape of Marydel, Del.; a brother, Van R. Whiting of Towson; three grandchildren, Tami Weidlein of Dover, Lori Miller of Dover and Jon Cain of Leola, Pa.; five great-grandchildren and a close companion, Ida Davis of Ridgely.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home in Greensboro. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. before the funeral. Burial will be in Ridgely Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Ridgely United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 220, Ridgely, MD 21660.

Emory E. Frantum

EASTON - Emory E. Frantum, 71, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at his home.

He was born Aug. 16, 1931 in Arnold, the son of the late Frank Ellsworth Frantum and Laura Cecelia Arnold.

Mr. Frantum was an Air Force veteran serving his country during the Korean War and serving from 1949 until 1957.

He was an electrician for E. I. duPont Co. in Seaford, Del.

Mr. Frantum is survived by his wife, Anna B. Frantum; three children, Master Sgt. Robert "Robby" Robinson of Hobert Air Force Base in Pensacola, Fla., Tabatha "Tammy" Boyles of Preston and Jennifer Varady of Labelle, Fla.; six grandchildren - Michael, Shelby and Lacey Fitzgerald, Nicholas Varady, Torri and Angel Robinson; one brother, William Frantum of Annapolis and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Maude Barnes and Clara Keysor and eight brothers.

A memorial service will be held noon Monday at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery, Eastern Shore at Beulah. Friends may call at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home in Federalsburg tonight from 6-8.

The family has suggested that contributions be made to Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, 216 N. Main St., Federalsburg, MD 21632.

Leona P. Wingate

CAMBRIDGE - Leona P. Wingate, 82, formerly of Wingate, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 at the Mallard Bay Care Center, where she was a resident.

She was born Aug. 31, 1920 at Wingate, the daughter of the late Jesse Thomas and Katie E. Woodland Parks.

Mrs. Wingate attended schools at Wingate. On March 18, 1941 she was married to Robert Wallace Wingate. He passed away on Nov. 28, 1992.

Mrs. Wingate had worked at several seafood factories in the Wingate Area. She was a member of Wingate United Methodist Church and also of the Lakes and Straits Volunteer Fire Company. She enjoyed playing bingo and working with ceramics.

Mrs. Wingate is survived by a daughter, L. Faye Woodland and her husband, Charles T. Woodland of Crocheron; two granddaughters, Lisa D. Foxwell and Tina O. Weber, both of Cambridge; one great-granddaughter, Danielle R. Weber of Cambridge; two great-grandsons, Jonathan T. Weber and Zachary L. Foxwell, both of Cambridge.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Louvenia J. Parks and Jessie P. Ewell and one nephew, Raymond O'Neil Jones.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery near Hurlock with the Rev. Pardee Bramble officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wingate United Methodist Church, c/o Clarence Pritchett, 1941 East Tedious Creek Road, Bishops Head, MD 21672 or to the Lakes and Straits Volunteer Fire Company, 2103 Farm Creek Road, Wingate, MD 21675.
