BEVERLY K. BOWMAN
Beverly Kay Bowman, 48, Brookeville, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at her residence.
Born March 11, 1951, in Oakland, she was the daughter of Bob and Helen Nine, Silver Spring.
Mrs. Bowman was an executive secretary for Bell Atlantic. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross, Potomac.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband, Bradd Bowman; one stepdaughter, Missy Bowman of Laurel; two brothers, Jim Nine and Phil Nine, both of Rockville; and one step-grandson.
Friends were received at the Hines/Rinaldi Funeral Home, Silver Spring. A service was held at the Lutheran Church of the Cross on Wednesday, Aug. 11. Interment was scheduled for today, Aug. 12, at the Red House Cemetary, Oakland.

PAUL W. PHILLIPI
Paul W. Phillipi, 85, Oakland, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born January 9, 1914, in Ashe County, N.C., he was the son of the late Harry F. and Vertie L. (Pike) Phillipi.
Mr. Phillippi was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Oakland. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the Fourth Army’s Fourth Armored Division. He was a member of Proctor Kildow Post #71, American Legion and Lodge #11, Woodman of the World, both of Oakland. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Local #37, International Union of Operating Engineers, Cumberland.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel F. (Davis) Phillippi; three daughters, Janet R. Browning, Deer Park, M. Susan Callis, Monrovia, and Linda K. Friend, Swanton; one sister, Muriel Sines, Oakland; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where services were held this morning with the Rev. Roger Harrison officiating. Interment followed in the Garrett Memorial Gardens, Oakland, where military honors were accorded by local veterans organizations.

PATSY BOLYARD
Bolyard was born on July 30, 1949, in Keyser, W.Va., a son of Otis A. and Virginia M. (Spitzer) Metcalfe of Keyser. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Derek Anthony Delilo.
She was employed as a licensed practical nurse with both the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, and the Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her husband, L. Stanley Bolyard; one son, Edward J. Delilo, Twenty-nine Palms, Calif.; one daughter, Jennie Lea Delilo, Swanton; two stepdaughters, Tammy Crider, Virginia Beach, Va., and Jennifer De Gasperin, Kingwood, W.Va.; one stepson, Timothy L Bolyard, Morgantown, W.Va.; one brother, Michael A. Metcalfe, Keyser; one sister, Norma Clark, Keyser; a paternal grandmother, Catherine Metcalfe, Keyser; and one grandson.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Westernport, on Tuesday, Aug. 10, with the Rev. James Hannon as celebrant. Interment was in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

CECIL A. FAZENBAKER
Cecil A. Fazenbaker, 89, Luke, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, where he had been a resident.
Born January 30, 1910, in Bloomington, he was a son of the late Overton Ellsworth and Bertha Louise (Poling) Fazenbaker. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline I. (Kackley) Fazenbaker.
Mr. Fazenbaker was retired from the Westvaco Corp. with over 46 years of service, where he was tour foreman of 4 and 5 machine room. He was a former member of the Tri-Towns Lions Club and the Tri-Towns Senior Citizens. He was a member of the Piedmont Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Edna (North) Jennings Fazenbaker; a son, Cecil Holbert Fazenbaker, La Plata; a daughter, Caroline Sue Kasmier; two step-sons, Douglass Jennings, Keyser, W.Va., and Harold Jennings, Baltimore; a step-daughter, Margaret Ann Michael, LaVale; a brother, William T. Fazenbaker, Westernport; two sisters, Edna Biggs, Lonaconing, and Bertha Lease, Westernport; five grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Boal Funeral Home, where a funeral service was held Wednesday with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Interment was in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

GARY J. MINNICK
Gary J. Minnick, 30, Frostburg, died unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at his parents’ residence.
Born April 4, 1969, in Frostburg, he was the son of Robert and Isabel (Caton) Minnick of Frostburg.
Mr. Minnick was a heavy equipment operator at United Energies Coal Co.
Surviving in addition to his parents are four children, Sarah, Kathryn, Megan, and Nathan Minnick, all of Frostburg; two sisters, Carolyn Williams, Frostburg, and Teresa Topper, Finzel; one brother, Joe Minnick, Frostburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are being received at the Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg today from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Paul Byrnes as celebrant. Interment will be in the Finzel Cemetery.

JOHN P. THAYER
John Phillips 'Pip' Thayer, 81, of Palmetto, Fla., and Morgantown, W.Va., died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at his Morgantown home.
Born in Oakland on May 20, 1918, he was a son of the late Arthur Gorman Thayer and Esther (Hinebaugh) Thayer.
Mr. Thayer owned and operated Thayer’s Barn at Deep Creek Lake for many years. He was a former member of the Optimist Club and the Lions Club, past president of the Oakland Golf Club, and was a charter member of Elks Lodge 2481.
He is survived by his wife, Madeline (Howell) Thayer; one son, James G. Thayer, Morgantown; one daughter, Joyce Cornish, Rochester, N.Y.; one step-daughter, Jeannie Long, also of Morgantown; one brother, Lee Thayer, Aurora, W.Va.; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 13, at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland, with Rev. John A. Grant officiating. Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Morgantown Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

CHRISTINE M. DIXON GRAVES
Christine M. Dixon Graves, 79, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, in Baltimore. She was formerly of Garrett County.
Born on Dec. 9, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Asa and Nora (Riley) Dixon. She was preceded in death by her husband, George K. Graves, in December 1997.
Mrs. Graves is survived by one daughter, Mary Lou Read, and one granddaughter, both of Baltimore; two sisters, Florence Sanders, Ft. Myers, Fla., and Betty Beitzel, Oakland; one sister-in-law, Nellie Dixon, Oakland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held in Baltimore on Saturday, Aug. 7, and a graveside service took place at the Memorial Gardens in Oakland on Aug. 8. Pastor Don Wilson officiated.

EDNA C. SCHROYER
Edna C. (Stark) Schroyer, 80, Markleysburg, Pa., died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at the Meyersdale (Pa.) Medical Center.
Born March 24, 1919, in Bittinger, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Lydia (Butler) Frey Stark. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Orval C. Schroyer; one sister, Mae Thomas; one brother, Playford Stark; and one half-sister, Mary Jane Brant.
Survivors include her second husband, James C. Schroyer; three sons, Paul R. Schroyer, Yuma, Ariz., Charles W. Schroyer, Clarksville, and Thomas E. Schroyer, Grantsville; one brother, Delbert Frey, Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; one half-sister, Ida Mae Thomas, Markleysburg; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Rodney S. Turner Funeral Home, Markleysburg, and at the Gospel Center Church, Markleysburg, where a service was conducted Tuesday, Aug. 3, with the Rev. Martin Stewart and the Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Interment was in the Blooming Rose Cemetery, Friendsville.

MILDRED H. VANCE
Mildred H. Vance, 89, Flintstone, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Aug. 26, 1909, in Frostburg, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Nellie (Thorpe) Eichhorn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel H. Vance; one son, Richard Vance; three brothers; two sisters; and three grandchildren.
She was a member of the Church of the Brethren and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Daniel G. Vance, Flintstone; four grandsons; and five great grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, where a ser vice was conducted Saturday, July 31, with Pastor Floyd Bender officiating. Interment followed in Sunset Memorial Park.

JULIA R. WEAVER
Julia R. Weaver, 78, Frostburg, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 10, 1921, in McSherrystown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Pete and Louise (Wireman) Gebhart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard J. Weaver, on Nov. 5, 1996.
She was a former employee of Kline Furniture Company, Frostburg, and was retired as a housekeeper from St. Michael’s Rectory. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church Sodality, and Farrady Post No. 24, American Legion.
Surviving are three sons, Michael A. Weaver, Short Gap, W.Va., Patrick F. Weaver, Frostburg, and Terry L. Weaver, Oakland; and four granddaughters.
There was no visitation. A memorial mass was celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, Aug. 3, with Msgr. John L. Reinsfelder as cel ebrant. Interment was in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
The family requests that contributions in her memory be made to the St. Michael’s School.
Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, was in charge of arrangements.

RICHARD A. BOYCE
Richard A. 'Dick' Boyce, 53, Montrose, W.Va., died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at his home, following an ex tended illness.
Born March 21, 1946, in Kitzmiller, he was a son of Corrine D. (Griffith) Boyce, Oakland, and the late Claude D. Boyce.
He was a tractor-trailer driver for Dingess Lumber for 11 years prior to his illness.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Susan M. (Shahan) Boyce, whom he married Sept. 7, 1974; five daughters, Tara Boyce, Tana Cessna, and Taba Hine baugh, all of Oakland, Maria Paugh, Winchester, Va., and Wendy Harris, Belington, W.Va.; one son, Richard A. Boyce Jr., Fairmont, W.Va.; two brothers, James D. Boyce, Virginia Beach, Va., and Gary Boyce, Oakland; one sister, Claudine 'Lucky' Friend, Oakland; and nine grandchildren.
