Annetta A. Humin
CAMBRIDGE - Annetta Angel "Angie" Humin, 24, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004.
Born in Easton, Ms. Humin was the daughter of John Pau1 Humin of Ohio and Nancy Geraldine Jester Dyott of Easton and her husband, Danny Dyott.
Ms. Humin had worked as a counselor at Chesapeake Center in Easton until 2003.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Humin is survived by two daughters, Tinishia A. Humin and Amyia S. Thurman, both of Cambridge; her fiance, Andrew C. "Dinky" Thurman Jr; one sister, Sierra Ross of Cambridge; one brother, James K. Pryor of Denton; one stepbrother, Daniel Dyott of Easton; one uncle, Kenneth Pryor Jr. of Denton; her mother-in-law, Carolyn Pinder of Cambridge and two aunts, Angela Pinder and Shawanna Pinder, both of Cambridge.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 South Second St. in Denton where friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight. Burial will be in Denton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in memory of Angie, c/o Moore Funeral Home, PA., 12 South Second St., Denton, MD 21629.

Mildred M. Short
CAMBRIDGE - Mildred M. Short, 95, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 at the Chesapeake Woods Center.
She was born July 9, 1909 in Hurlock, daughter of the late George and Nettie Sellers Venable.
A long-time resident of Cambridge, Mrs. Short was employed as a seamstress at Rob Roy, NEB and Perfect Garment, retiring in 1981. Prior to her stay at Chesapeake Woods for rehabilitation, she resided at Special Home Assisted Living since June 2003.
Mrs. Short attended the Wesleyan Church and was a former member of the Woman's Club of Cambridge.
She is survived by three sons, Norman Short of Georgetown, Del., Lawrence Short of Sebring, Fla. and Eldridge Short of Annapolis; two daughters, Marie Collier of Hurlock and Sandy Sue Short of Cambridge; 28 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; one sister, Nettie Bennett of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Short Sr.; three daughters, Betty Mae Short, Shirley Arlene Cotrill and Joyce Ann Owens; two sons, Ira Short Jr. and Louis Short.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market and one hour prior to the service at the Wesleyan Church on Monday.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Wesleyan Church in Cambridge with Pastor Barry L. Miller and the Rev. Kathryn Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the East New Market Cemetery.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Shirley Arlene Cotrill and Joyce Ann Owens to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 200 East Joppa Road, Suite 407, Towson, MD 21286.

Short Addendum
CAMBRIDGE - Funeral services for Mildred Mae Short, 95, who passed away Oct. 19, 2004 at Chesapeake Woods Center will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Wesleyan Church in Cambridge. Pastor Barry L. Miller and the Rev. Kathryn Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in East New Market Cemetery.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market and also during the hour preceding the service on Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Shirley Arlene Cotrill and Joyce Ann Owens to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 200 East Joppa Road, Suite 407, Towson, MD 21286.
Mrs. Short is survived by four sons, Charles Michael Short of Cambridge, Norman Short of Georgetown, Del., Lawrence Short of Sebring, Fla. and Eldridge Short of Annapolis; two daughters, Marie Collier of Hurlock and Sandy Sue Short of Cambridge; 28 grandchildren and many great-grandchilden; one sister, Nettie Bennett of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.

Benjamin J. Linthicum III
CHURCH CREEK - Benjamin J. Linthicum III, 83, passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.
He was born at Church Creek on Oct. 10, 1921 and was a son of the late Josiah Francis and Clara Brooks Linthicum.
Mr. Linthicum had attended schools in Cambridge, having graduated from Cambridge High School in 1939. He then attended Virginia Tech for on year. Mr. Linthicum enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a navigator with Squadron VB/VPB in Naval Aviation. He served in the Pacific Theater and was aboard the first airplane to land on Tarawa and served from there to Tinian. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1945. After receiving his honorable discharge he returned to Virginia Tech where he graduated in 1949.
On Dec. 20, 1949 he was married to the former Virginia Triplett. After their marriage, the Linthicums moved back to the Head Range Farm at Church Creek, which was where Mr. Linthicum was born.
He worked for the State of Maryland Department of Natural Resources for a number of years and was Chief of Dredging Operations when he retired.
Mr. Linthicum was a member of the Cambridge Yacht Club, Dorchester County Historical Society, South Dorchester Folk Museum, Dorchester County Taxpayers Association, Dorchester Arts Center, Charter Member and Past President of the Church Creek Volunteer Fire Company and Dorchester County Farm Club. He had been a member of Old Trinity Church for many years where he had served as Vestryman and also as Senior Warden.
Mr. Linthicum's survivors include his wife of Church Creek; one son, Josiah F. "Jay" Linthicum of Silver Spring and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Lindsay Linthicum.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Old Trinity Church at Church Creek. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church Creek Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 16, Church Creek, MD 21622 or to the Dorchester County Humane Society, P.O. Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613.
Pallbearers will be Earl Brannock, Frank Wright, Pat Neild, Archie Brooks, Dr. Thomas A. Flowers and Bill Vincent.
Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

Martin L. Spicer Jr.
AUGUSTA, GA. - Martin L. Spicer Jr., 52, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 at the Veterans' Medical Center in Augusta.
Born Nov. 22, 1953 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Martin Sr. and Dorothy Mae Garrison Spicer.
Mr. Spicer attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Mace's Lane High School, Class of 1970. After graduating, he enlisted into the U.S. Army serving in Germany. Upon honorable discharge, he began working for a number of years with the Federal Printing Office in Washington, D.C.
"Snooks," as he was called, was close to his family and friends. He enjoyed family gatherings, traveling and meeting new people.
Mr. Spicer is survived by a son, Martin L. Sutton of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Patricia Wongus and Betty Jackson, both of Cambridge and Rachel Meekins of Salisbury; two brothers, Brady Spicer of Annapolis and Timothy Spicer of Washington, DC; an uncle, Pete Ralph Garrison and an aunt, Elizabeth Garrison, both of Cambridge; four nieces, Satira Wongus of Baltimore, Betty Jackson of Cambridge, Camilla Spicer of Annapolis and Cuba Spicer of Washington, D.C.; five nephews, Willie Wongus III of Baltimore, Timothy Spicer Jr. and Hakeem Spicer, both of Washington, D.C., Melvin Jackson and Tot Jackson, both of Cambridge and numerous cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Spicer was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Spicer; two sisters, Lorina Thompson and Mildred Jackson; an aunt Margaret Thomas and an uncle, George (Piggy) Garrison.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday at Henry Funeral Home, PA. Burial is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah. There will be a viewing held one hour prior to the services on Saturday.

John H. L. Quailes
EAST NEW MARKET - John Henry Louis Quailes, 64, of known as "Buddy" passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1940, son of the late Ernest L. Quailes and Anne G.Collins Quailes.
He attended school at Frederick Douglas School in Seaford, Del. After school he moved to Federalsburg and worked at various saw mills, factories, and Harper Farm in Cambridge.
Mr. Quailes is survived by his lifelong friend, Doris A. Robinson of Federalsburg; a daughter, Ella Mae Walker (Doll) of Braden, Fla.; two sons, John Henry Louis Quailes Jr. of Baltimore, Timothy Bolden of Hagerstown; five sisters, Martha Kellum of Hurlock, Shirley Quailes and Goldie Taylor of Wilmington, Joan Green of Frederick, Del., Alice Baynard of Felton, Del.; a brother, Charles Quailes of East New Market; two grandchildren, Eddie Williams known as "Donnie," of Bradent, Fla. and Kandi Wongus of Hurlock; three great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Quailes, Clara Quailes, Rose Lee Quailes, Diane Kelsey, and one brother, Ernest L. Quailes Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Inurnment will be private.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday.

Frances O. Temple
CAMBRIDGE - Frances O. Temple, 80, of Cambridge, formerly of Lewistown, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004 at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born on March 7, 1924 in Clearfield County, Pa. and was the daughter of the late Samuel P. and Sadie Hetrick Coudriet.
Mrs. Temple attended school in Lewistown. She worked as a presser at Arrow Shirt Company and later at White Angel Uniform Company in Lewistown. On May 3, 1958 she married Junius Marvin Temple, who passed away on Nov. 29, 1972.
In 1961, she moved from Lewistown to Linkwood. Mrs. Temple later worked at Countryside Christian School.
She moved back to Lewistown in 1986 until 1991 and since then she had lived in Cambridge. She was a member of Countryside Christian Church, Linkwood-Salem Volunteer Fire Company and Church Creek Volunteer Fire Company.
She is survived by a daughter, Tina M. McWilliams and her husband Mark of Church Creek; two sons, Marvin Samuel Temple of Cambridge and Ricky A. Temple and his fiancée Tonya Synder of Linkwood; six grandchildren, Michael and Guy McWilliams, Josh Burton, Katelyn Temple, Tracy Nichols and Amy Schuyler; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Duane Coudriet of Glendale, Ariz.; two aunts; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Delores J. Allen.
Pallbearers will be Michael McWilliams, Guy McWilliams, Philip Nichols, Chuck Schuyler, Glenn Ruark and Dickie Willey.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. A. Delmer Willey Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery.
A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.

Alice M. Thomas
CAMBRIDGE - Alice McGlotten Thomas of Hurlock died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004 at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge. She was born on Jan. 5, 1917, the daughter of the late Milbourne Strawberry and Dolly Johns and was raised by Hattie McGlotten.
Ms. McGlotten worked at the American Cannery, which later became Acme Canning Factory, until she retired. She became involved in the church at an early age and was active in several ministries.
At the former Union Grove United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Susie Tea Club, which was responsible for hospitality, and the United Methodist Women. A quiet, kind and gentle spirit, she loved taking care of her family and home. Until her health failed, she and her road partner. Margaret Hopkins, would act as chauffeurs for each other. They were often seen shopping together.
She is survived by her son, Wayne McGlotten of Philadelphia, Pa.; twin granddaughters Jihan and Machere Johnston and their mother, Cathy Johnston of Charlotte, N.C.; nieces Dolly Rhodes (Daniel) of Hurlock, Margaret Strawberry Simms (Tommy) of Baltimore, Dorothy Adams of Thompsontown, and Mary Adams of Hurlock; a nephew, Charles Adams (Willie Mae) of Florence, S.C.; several great-nieces and nephews; cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents and guardian, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius "Buddy" Thomas; three sisters, Flora Johns, Helen Strawberry Davis, and Jessie Adams; and two brothers, Harley Johns and Gonzela Johns.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at noon at Hurlock United Methodist Church, where friends may call today from 6-8 p.m.
Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery in Hurlock. Arrangements are by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Hurlock.
