STEPHANIE N. SCHMITZ
Stephanie Nicole Schmitz, North Pole, Alaska, formerly of Oakland, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, from injuries she sustained in a traffic accident in North Pole.
She was a daughter of Sherry L. and Ernie L. Graham, Mtn. Lake Park, and Steven J. and Kimberly A. Schmitz, North Pole.
She was currently a senior at North Pole High School, and attended Southern Middle School during her eighth grade year, and Southern High School during her freshman year.
She served as an airman in the Alaska Air National Guard, was a member of the wrestling team, and was active in her school's drama program. She was an honor student and was granted a University of Alaska Fairbanks scholarship. She was also a member of the New Hope Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Sara Schmitz; her siblings, Tabby Graham, Greg Graham, Justin Miller, and Tyler Miller; her maternal grand-parents, Jack and Eileen Schofield, Alum Bank, Pa., and Patrick and Ann Godin and Dawn and Peter Marr, all of Maine; and her paternal grandmother, Helen Schmitz, Spartanburg, S.C.
A funeral service was conducted at the New Hope Methodist Church.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Stephanie N. Schmitz Memorial Fund, c/o Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, 1261 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99701.

EDDIE L. ROGERS JR.
Eddie Lee Rogers Jr., 15, Bloomington, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at his home.
Born in February 1984, in Oakland, he was the son of Eddie Lee Rogers Sr., Petersburg, W.Va., and Libby Holstein and Eugene Liller, Bloomington.
He was a freshman at Westmar High School, where he was a member of the junior varsity basketball squad.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, he is survived by two sisters, Brandy Holstein and Amanda Holstein, both of Bloomington; and his grandparents, Gloria and Gene Holstein, Mt. Storm, W.Va., and Pat Parker of Ohio.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted at Trinity United Methodist Church on Sunday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Donald Nelson and the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomington Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the Eddie Rogers Fund, c/o WEPCO Federal Credit Union, 204 N. Branch Ave., Bloomington, MD 21523.

RALPH E. PRITTS III
Ralph E. Pritts III, 48, LaVale, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at the Univeristy of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Nov. 16, 1951, in Cumberland, he was a son of Barbara (Filsinger) Pritts, Deer Park, and the late Ralph E. Pritts Jr.
He was a graduate of St. Peter's School, Oakland, and attended Charlotte Hall Military School on scholarship where he graduated with honors. He then attended Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, where he studied electrical engineering for two years. He transferred to and graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in computer science.
He was a former employee of Logicon in Virginia and Data Point in San Antonio, Texas. He later operated his own consulting company.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by five brothers, Philip Pritts, Oakland, Christopher Pritts, Dearborn, Mich., Curtis Pritts, Hagerstown, Jonathan Pritts, Oakland, and Matthew Pritts, Roanoke, Va.
The body will be cremated and a memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Archway Station, 408 N. Centre St., Cumberland, MD 21502; the Ruth Enlow Library, 6 N. Second St., Oakland, MD 21550; or a charity of the donor's choice.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of arrangements.

LAURA V. CONKLYN
Laura Virginia Conklyn, 80, Mt. Zion, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Sept. 13, 1919, in Crellin, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Maude (Moats) Lipscomb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Orville Dean Conklyn.
Survivors include one son, Ezra Conklyn, Mt. Zion; one daughter, Hazel Esser, Winchester, Va.; one sister, Eleanor Beckman, Oakland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the Walnut Bottom Assembly of God Church on Friday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Timothy Tanner, the Rev. Christopher Crawford, and the Rev George Tichinel officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

MARY L. TETER
Mary Lee (Tasker) Teter, 58, Terra Alta, W.Va., died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at her home.
Born Feb. 26, 1941, in Terra Alta, she was a daughter of the late Robert Gay and Ethel M. (Sisler) Tasker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Teter Sr., on June 23, 1999; three brothers, James L. Tasker, Edward Tasker, and Robert Tasker; and two sisters, Ida Grace and Louise Brown.
She was a member of the Evergreen Southern Baptist Church, Terra Alta, and wasa past employee of Hopemont State Hospital, as a health service worker.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd E. Teter Jr. and Robert M. Teter, both of Terra Alta; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Sypolt and Verna Mae Pifer, both of Terra Alta; one brother, Roger Lee Tasker, Jefferson, Ohio; three sisters, Rosalie Sypolt, Terra Alta, Doris Bolyard, Fellowsville, W.Va., and Lulu Knotts, Tunnelton, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta, where a service was conducted at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 3, with the Rev. Barry Adkins officiating. Interment was in the Terra Alta Cemetery.

RICKY L. MOON
Ricky L. Moon, 50, Oakland, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at his home.
Born July 10, 1949, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Lillie E. (Miller) Moon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Donna J. (Rubin) Moon, on Jan. 1.
He worked as a truck driver for the Paul Dove Trucking Company, Oakland.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Moon and Patricia Ison, both of Mtn. Lake Park; one son, James E. Moon, Loch Lynn; and three grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church on Sunday, March 26, with the Rev. Dennis Leatherman officiating. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery.

NELLIE R. WARNICK
Nellie Rose Warnick, 89, Grantsville, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born March 24, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Earner and Clara (Garlitz) Colmer Warnick. She also was preceded in death by her
husband, Clarence Warnick, Oct. 23, 1976; one daughter, Olive Stark; and one son, Sylvan Warnick.
She was a homemaker and a member of the New Germany United Methodist Church.
She is survived by eight sons, Marvin Warnick and Ronald Warnick, both of Grantsville, Ransel Warnick, Victor Warnick, Kenneth Warnick, David Warnick, and Morris Warnick, all of Bittinger, and Roger Warnick, Chester; three daughters, Helen Miller and Mary Folk, both of Grantsville, and Shirley Crowe, Chester; one sister, Margaret Drees, Cumberland; one brother, Roy Warnick, Bedford, Pa.; one half-brother, John Ackerman, Jeannette, Pa.; 39 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her body was cremated.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted on Monday, March 27, with Pastor Brenda Shreve officiating.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the Bittinger Fire Department or the Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad.

SHIRLEY E. PEARCE
Shirley Eloise Pearce, 63, Westernport, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 22, 1937, in Mount Zion, she was a daughter of the late Harry A. and Phoebe (Tichinel) Barnard.
She was retired from the control lab at Westvaco.
Surviving are her husband, Billy D. Pearce; two sons, Ronald R. Pearce and Anthony M. Pearce, both of Westernport; one daughter, Lura Saville, Piedmont, W.Va.; one brother, William Otha Barnard, of Avon, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where a service was conducted Wednesday, March 29, with the Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment was in the Turner Cemetery, Walnut Bottom.

BROOKS O. EVANS
Brooks Onice Evans, 84, Chester, Va., formerly of Elk Garden and Harpers Ferry, W.Va., died Wednesday, March 22, 2000.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice Lee (Copeland) Evans; six children, Brooks Edward Evans, Chester, Connie Lee Warren, Dewey Beach, Del., Gary Wayne Evans, Gastonia, N.C., Thomas William Evans, Murrells Inlet, S.C., Dennis Gene Evans, Burke, Va., and Kathy Ann Deboni, Morgantown, W.Va.; 10 grand-children; 12 great-grand-children; and two sisters, Bernice Kitzmiller, Mount Storm, W.Va., and Edith Burke, Hyattsville.
He was a former county commissioner of Mineral County, a member of the Elk Garden Volunteer Fire Department, and the Elk Garden United Methodist Church. He retired from Westvaco after 33 years of service.
At his request, his body was donated to the School of Medical Research, West Virginia University.
A memorial service will be held at the Elk Garden Methodist Church on Saturday, April 1, at 2 p.m.
The family suggests memorial donations be directed to the Elk Garden United Methodist Church.

PATRICIA A. HOVATTER
Patricia Ann (Adams) Reckley Hovatter, 64, Cumberland, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at her home.
Born May 4, 1935, in Springfield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Amos and Ella Mae (Shipe) Adams. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Joseph Reckley, Jan. 25, 1989; a son, Charles Thomas Reckley; two brothers; and one sister.
She was a retired receptionist in the billing department at the Center for Radiology and a former employee of Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. She was a 1954 graduate of Romney High School. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, having served on several committees, and also was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are her husband, Howard O. Hovatter; one daughter, Joy Ann Reckley, Cumberland; one step-daughter, Mary Hovatter Merrill, York, Pa.; three step-sons, John Hovatter, Friendsville, Don J. Hovatter, Washington, D.C., and Neal Hovatter , Odenton; three sisters, Virginia L. Rinker, Irvine, Calif., Charlotte J. Poland, Great Falls, Va., and Mary C. McGuire, Redding, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland. A service was conducted earlier today, March 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Mark C. Dill officiating. Interment was in the Springfield Hill Cemetery, Springfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, St. John's Lutheran Church, Home Hospice at Western Maryland Health System, or St. Mary's Catholic Church.
