ROBERT R. DAMON
Robert Ray Damon, 58, Mountain Lake Park, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born on Oct. 19, 1941, in Vindex, he was a son of the late Frank N. Damon and Vada (Uphold) Damon.
He was employed as a foreman with the State Highway Administration. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of Proctor Kildow Post 71 American Legion, Elks Lodge 2481, and served on the Mountain Lake Park Town Council for over 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy (Glotfelty) Damon; one son, Patrick J. Damon, Mountain Lake Park; one daughter, Robbin Tonkovich, Oakland; two brothers, Frank Damon, Silver Spring, and Andy Damon, Oakland; five sisters, Mary Murphree, Brooksville, Fla., Margaret Starkey, Monrovia, Helen Alvord, McLean, Va., Alice Blorstad, Silver Spring, and Charlotte Crosby, Manor Ridge, Fla.; and two grand-children.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the Bethel Methodist Church, on Monday, April 3, with the Rev. Mark Hickman officiating. Interment was private.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.

CHARLES H. BAILEY
Charles Harold "Bill" Bailey, 76, Keyser, W.Va., died Friday, March 31, 2000, at his residence.
Born July 16, 1923, in Keyser, he was a son of the late Charles Thomas and Sylvia Lynne (Green) Bailey.
He was a retired carpenter with Local 1024, Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Cumberland. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a lifetime member of both Nancy Hanks Post 3518, VFW, Keyser, and KellyMansfield Post 52 American Legion, Piedmont, W.Va.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Patsy A. (Miller) Bailey; one son, Darrel F. Bailey, Cumberland; one daughter, Karen S. Schlosser, Bel Air; three stepchildren, Franklin Bowers, Cumberland, and Donna Broadwater, and Gary Bowers, both of Grantsville; one sister, Irene Love, Flora, Ill.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, where a service was conducted on Tuesday, April 4, with the Rev. Barbara Starling officiating. Interment was in the Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser.

GEORGE H. BLOCHER
George Henry Blocher, 95, Frostburg (Garrett County), died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at his residence.
Born May 9, 1904, in Frostburg, he was a son of the late Bradford and Mary Eva (Wade) Blocher. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Leona (Weimer) Blocher; two sons, Herbert Blocher and William Blocher; and one daughter, Eva Bittinger.
He was a farmer and member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son, Forrest Blocher, Frostburg; three daughters, Helen Albright, Wilmington, Del., Shirley Dauch, Linden, N.C., and Pearl Blocher, Friendsville; one granddaughter whom he reared, Carol Ann Goliher, Tennessee; 19 grand-children; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville. A service was conducted at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 4, with the Rev. Steven Lightner officiating. Interment was in the Blocher Cemetery.

JOSEPH T. GLOTFELTY JR.
Joseph Thaddeus Glotfelty Jr., 85, died March 23, 2000, at his winter home in Silver Spring. Born October 12, 1914, he was the son of the late Joseph Thaddeus and Carrie Lelia (Browning) Glotfelty.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, the former Dorothy Louise Rausch, and two children, Edward Charles Glotfelty, Haymarket, Va., and Dorothy Diane Granger, Seattle, Wash. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Glotfelty was a graduate of Oakland High School, Strayer Business College and Capitol Radio Engineering Institute of Washington, D.C., and of Coyne Electrical School and the American Television Institute of Chicago.
He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps Forestry Office of Camp S-59 in 1934 and 1935, and then as an operating engineer with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Washington, D.C., from 1937 to 1947. He was also president and chief executive officer of Globe Electric Corp., and worked as an electrical contractor until his retirement in 1983.
He held a Maryland Statewide Master Electrician License, a master’s license in a number of other jurisdictions, and was a retired lifetime member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. He was also a lifetime member of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni.
A lifetime member of the Garrett County Historical Society, Mr. Glotfelty was an avid collector of books and memorabilia of the Glotfelty and Browning families’ histories, and of the era of his childhood, which was spent on the farmland near Crellin where he was born and where his grandparents and parents developed virgin woodlands into a working farm and home.
Mr. Glotfelty was a member of the Oakland Sesquicentennial 150 Committee. A letter he wrote in honor of the town’s anniversary was printed as a preamble to the listing of the 150 Committee names in the Sesquicentennial Souvenir Program.
Mr. and Mrs. Glotfelty traveled over much of the world, but had always maintained a second home on the farm near Oakland. He was a grade school student at the Fairsweep School, one of the early one-room schools of Garrett County, where his mother had taught years previously. He was a great-great-grandson of the noted hunter and author Meshach Browning.
A service was conducted on March 29 at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring, and interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, south of Oakland.

BENJAMIN N. WILT
Benjamin L. "Butch" Wilt, 46, Oakland, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at his home.
Born March 27, 1954, in Oakland, he was a son of Phillip M. Wilt Sr. and Lena G. (Foster) Wilt, Oakland.
He was a heavy equipment operator for the Allegany Mining Co. and Buffalo Coal Co., and worked as a carpenter for Don Nine Construction.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons, Michael N. Wilt, Mtn. Lake Park, Sgt. James C. Shaffer, who is stationed in Bosnia, and Cody L. Wilt, Enterprise, W.Va.; one sister, Terry L. Ellifritz, Reedsville, W.Va.; three brothers, Arthur D. Wilt, Kingwood, W.Va., Stephen V. Wilt, Morgantown, W.Va., and Phillip M. Wilt Jr., Oakland; and two step-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the Underwood United Brethren in Christ Church on Sunday, April 2, with the Rev. Charles Teets and the Rev. David Kisamore officiating. Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

ROBERT D. FRALEY SR.
Robert D. Fraley Sr., 70, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Nov. 22, 1929, in Terra Alta, W.Va., he was a son of the late Ralph and Erna (Creamer) Fraley.
He was a member of the Keeler Glade Church of God. He retired after 28 years of service with R.E. Uptegraff Manufacturing Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Aurora-Terra Alta VFW Post 578, Terra Alta.
Survivors include his wife, Ardella (Casteel) Fraley; one son, Robert Fraley Jr., Bruceton Mills; one daughter, Connie Hayes, Elkview, W.Va.; two brothers, Joseph Fraley and Richard Fraley, both of Somerset, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was conducted at the Keeler Glade Church of God on Wednesday, April 5, with Pastor Robert D. Fraley Jr. officiating. Interment was in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Keeler Glade Church of God.
The Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, was in charge of arrangements.

IRENE RYON
Irene Ryon, 82, Falls Church, Va., formerly of Garrett County, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at her home.
Born Oct. 21, 1917, in Kitzmiller, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose Fredlock Schenk and Lois (Paugh) Schenk. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Leon Ryon, in 1970.
She grew up near Deep Creek Lake and graduated from Oakland High School.
She resided in Washington, D.C., and Keyser, W.Va., before moving to Falls Church 34 years ago. She was a former employee of Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington, D.C., and retired from CCH Computax, Merrifield, Va., after 10 years of service.
Survivors include one son, Michael Leo Ryon, Falls Church; two daughters, Patricia Irene Irvin, Remington, Va., and Pamela Sue Entsminger, Falls Church; two brothers, Dwight T. Schenk, Bethany Beach, Del., and John B. Schenk, Aberdeen; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Friends were received at the National Funeral Home, Falls Church, where a service was conducted Wednesday, April 5. Interment was in the National Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.

PEGGY A. FELLIN
Peggy Ann Murphy Fellin, 53, Oakland, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Nov. 15, 1946, in Benbush, W.Va., she was a daughter of Erville Knotts, Thomas, W.Va., and the late Leanna Virginia (Gay) Knotts. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, John Fellin, and one daughter, Denise Murphy.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Storm (W.Va.) VFW Women's Auxiliary.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her former husband, John "Bill" Murphy, Mtn. Lake Park; two daughters, Leslie (Murphy) Noland and Lisa Murphy, both of Mtn. Lake Park; two brothers, Gary Knotts, Bayard, W.Va., and Tink Knotts, Winchester, Va.; one sister, Joan (Knotts) Sowers, Umatilla, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, W.Va., where a service was conducted Tuesday, April 4, with the Rev. J.J. Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Knotts Cemetery.

DONNA J. FIKE
Donna J. Fike, 39, Oakland, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at her home.
Born Feb. 26, 1961, in Oakland, she was a daughter of Harvey A. Sr. and Norma J. (Ashby) Murphy.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Russell E. Fike, Oakland; one daughter, Heather N. Fike, Oakland; two sons, Mark A. Fike and Andrew W. Fike, both of Oakland; two sisters, Brenda Porter and Sandy Murphy, both of Terra Alta, W.Va.; five brothers, William "Bill" J. Murphy, Accident, Ronald Murphy and Robert D. Murphy, both of Oakland, and Harley Murphy Jr. and Keith Murphy, both of Terra Alta.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Tuesday, April 4, with the Rev. Paul Sisler officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to Hospice of Garrett County, P.O. Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.

MARGARET C. SKOTNISKI
Margaret Carmaleta Skotniski, 87, Oakland, died Monday, April 3, 2000, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born March 13, 1913, in Vindex, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Nettie (Paugh) Novallis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Skotniski.
Survivors include three daughters, Pauline Whitehair, Stevensville, Mont., Ruby Courey, Englewood, Fla., and Darlene Sedmock, Thomas, W.Va.; two sisters, Marie Smigal and Bette Lipscomb, both of Davis, W.Va.; and eight grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted earlier today, April 6, with the Rev. Roger Harrison officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Thomas.
