She was born March 12, 1942, in Brockton, Mass. the daughter of Lester Allen Bouldry, Sr. and Margaret (Johnson) Bouldry. Carol worked for the U S Postal Service from 1985 to 2003, and was a member of the American Postal Workers Union. She loved to play Bingo, and enjoyed hunting, camping, scrap booking and gardening. She dedicated her life to her family.
She is survived by a son, James R. Kingman, Jr., of Leominster, Mass; two daughters, Michelle Kingman of Maxfield and Tina Wellman of Sangerville; six grandchildren, Steven J. Theriault, Harley Wellman, James Kingman, III, Austin Wellman, Brittany Kingman, Jonathan Kingman; a great-grandchild, Karley Theriault; a brother, Lester Bouldry. Jr., of Maxfield; a sister, Janet Harlow of New York Times correspondent and Chicago Tribune editor Douglas E. Kneeland died in Lincoln, Massachusetts. He showed early promise as a journalist, serving as literary editor of the high school newspaper and writing a column for the city weekly during his stay in Somerville. He received praise from teachers for his writings and harbored ambitions of becoming a novelist. A month after graduating from high school in 1947, Doug did a stint in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge in 1949, he enrolled at the University of Maine journalism department and former editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Doug switched his major to journalism. He became a regular staff member on the university's student newspaper, The Ohio where Jordan had taken a job as editor. "He was just as demanding there as he was when I was a student," Doug once said. In 1959 Doug was hired by The New York to help with a major transition with the paper. "He promised that if I stayed for one year, I could have any assignment I wanted," Doug remembered. "So that was too good to pass up." The transition that Roberts referred to was making the California.

Seven years later, in 1977, he became the Times' Midwestern Bureau chief. In his work for the Times, Doug covered many of the major stories of the era, including the trials of Charles Manson and Sirhan Sirhan, student protests over the Vietnam War and the killings at Kent State, race riots following the assassination of Martin Luther King, the oil embargo of 1973, the death penalty, presidential races from 1968 to 1980, and Watergate. He always believed his most significant work was breaking the story of the Saturday Night Massacre, Richard Nixon's dismissal of Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox and the resignation of Attorney General Elliot Richardson, which was the lead story in that Sunday's Maine. Even in his relatively short stint as a university teacher he had a major impact on numerous future journalists. In the mid-90s he became a member of the University of Maine teams. In 2003 Doug was honored by colleagues when he was inducted into the Maine when he was presented with an honorary doctorate. With a nose for news, a natural, writing flair, and impeccable integrity, Doug Kneeland was a consummate newspaperman. As Doug's good friend and colleague Gene Roberts noted: "He's our profession's equivalent of a triple threat quarterback, only better."

Doug is the beloved husband of Barbara Jordan Kneeland. He was predeceased by his first wife, Anne Libby Kneeland, and is survived by his four children, Debra Jo Wentz of Sioux City, California, Bruce Douglas Kneeland and Wayne Curtis Kneeland, both of Bristol, Rhode Island. Willie loved to hunt, fish and play cards.
He is survived by five children, William Koposcinski of Danforth, Michael Koposcinski and his fiance, Tara, of Danforth, Patricia Zaneldin and Jim Golding of Danforth, Merry McCormick and Lynda Osborne, both of Saranac Lake, N.Y.
