Dorothy Charlotte Hendon
age 83, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Hayes Green Beach Hospital. Mrs. Hendon was born October 4, 1920 to Nellie and Edwin Leisman in Gleason, Wisconsin. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and the Chicago School of Music and was also a graduate of Taylor University in Indiana. Dorothy married Melvin D. Hendon on September 7, 1946 on her parent's front lawn in Bellevue and continued living in Bellevue for 43 years. She taught piano and organ in the Battle Creek and Marshall area and accompanied many choirs and soloists. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charlotte. She enjoyed knitting, driving across country, and the challenge of keyboard instruments. Dorothy is survived by her husband Melvin, daughter Charlotte (Don) Austin of Bellevue, sons Tedd (Dena) Hendon of Charlotte, Bruce (Gayla) Hendon of Elgin, Illinois, and David (Susan) Hendon of Bellevue, 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Memorial services are being held 3:00 p.m. Friday at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. Memorials may be sent to the music department of the First Baptist Church in Charlotte. The family requests that no flowers be sent but cards may be sent to Melvin Hendon, c/o Tedd Hendon, 1284 Stewart Rd., Charlotte, MI 48813.

Frances Irene Schneider
70, of Charlotte, formerly of Grand Rapids, died Thursday, April 15, 2004. Frances was born October 11, 1933, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Dick and Lillian (Spencer) Ryskamp. She had been a sales associate with Dayton Hudson's retiring after many years of service. She is survived by son Donald (Sandra) Schneider of Bakersfield, California, Daniel (Kim) Schneider of Charlotte, Mark Schneider of Lakeland, Florida, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, brothers Myron (Dorothy) Ryskamp of Leroy, Michigan, Fredric (Jean) Ryskamp of Dorr, Michigan, sister Gloria Wahmhoff of Fennville, Michigan, sister-in-law Dorothy Ryskamp of Grand Rapids, step-brother Hank (Marcelle) Baker of Grand Rapids, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother Richard Schneider, sister Florence Phillips, brother-in-law Robert Phillips, and step-sister Rose Baker. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at South United Methodist Church, 4500 S. Division Avenue, Wyoming, MI with Pastor Robert Stover officiating. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 South Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813.

Nellie Wollpert
92 of Charlotte, died Friday, April 16, 2004. Mrs. Wollpert was born January 27, 1912 in Greenville, Michigan, the daughter of George and Fern (Bliss) Jones. She attended Gresham United Methodist Church and was a member of the Laugh A Lot Club and the Farm Bureau. Over the years she enjoyed doing crewel embroidery, and baking her yummy cookies. She is survived by sons Wallace (Ginny) Wollpert of Mulliken and Duane (Charlotte) Wollpert of Albuquerque, New Mexico, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Merrill Wollpert in 1991, 13 siblings and daughter-in-law, Shirley. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Judy Shulton officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Oneida Township. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. Sunday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Carrie Estella Satterly
83 of Charlotte, died Saturday, April 17, 2004. Mrs. Satterly was born September 4, 1920 in Chester Township, Michigan, the daughter of Don and Minnie (Kline) Shaw. She loved being with her family and had volunteered and had served on the board of directors with the Eaton Community Hospice for many years. She is survived by her son Gordon Satterly of Harrison Township, daughter Diana (Joe) Newman of Charlotte, grandchildren Steven (Karen) Newman and Mary Jo (Brian) Hosey, great grandchildren Kaitlin, Megan, and Kelsie, and sister Mary Lord of Charlotte and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Satterly, Jr. May 17,1982. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, April 21st at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Elder Richard Garn officiating. Interment will be in Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 7-9 Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice House.

Anita Theresa Martin
84 of Charlotte, died Saturday, April 17, 2004 surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Martin was born February 23, 1920 in St. Johns, Michigan, the daughter of Herman and Josephine (Schafer) Rademacher. She served for many years as a Customer Service Representative with Michigan National Bank retiring in 1980. She married her husband Arthur January 31, 1942 who preceded her in death in 1998. She had been a life long member of St Mary Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild. She worked on the St Patrick Day dinners and enjoyed gardening, sewing, her angel collection, and shopping. She is survived by sons Paul A. (Sharon) Martin of Traverse City, Thomas L. (Barbara) Martin of Lansing, William E. (Sally) Martin of Vermontville, Richard J. Martin and Brian J. (Ramona) Martin both of Charlotte, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sisters Bernadine Fedewa of Grand Ledge, Mary Dingler of Lansing, brothers Richard (Martha) Rademacher of North Carolina and Robert (Catherine) Rademacher of Lansing and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, April 20th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte with Rev. Fr. William Lugger as celebrant. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Monday at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Leora Gayle Allen
age 86, of Charlotte, Michigan died Wednesday, April 21, 2004. Mrs. Allen was born October 12, 1917 in Chester Township, Michigan the daughter of the late Harold Phillips and the late Ruby (Sprague) Phillips. She retired from the State of Michigan in 1979 after many years working in the Attorney General and Treasury Departments. She was a wonderful mother who provided for her four daughters after her husband George died in 1959. She was known to family and friends as a crossword puzzle expert. She enjoyed outings with her family ranging from vacations when the girls were young to Sunday afternoons at nearby Thornapple Lake. She is survived by her pride and joy four daughters, Jeanne (James) Baird of Charlotte, Jo Anne Bulmer of Charlotte, Jayne (Dan) Whitcomb of Bellevue, Michigan, Judi (Dave) Baum of Charlotte, sister, Mrs. Margaret Courtright of Charlotte, brother, Carroll (Marilyn) Phillip of Marshall, Michigan, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan, with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte, Michigan. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Melanie J. (Mills) Pouch
45, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004. Melanie was born July 23, 1958, in Charlotte, the daughter of Granvil 'Jiggs' and Muriel (Patterson) Mills. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and loved to laugh. She looked forward to spending time with her kids. She worked for Clients for Life as a Coordinator. She is survived by son Sean Pouch, mother Muriel, and sister Michele (Ed) Godlewski. She was preceded in death by her father Granvil 'Jiggs' Mills, brother Dick Mills, and daughter Meghann Pouch. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Charlotte Assembly of God with Rev. Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Pray Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Charlotte Band Boosters. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Meghann Jo Pouch
15, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004. Ms. Pouch was born June 7, 1988, in Lansing, Michigan the daughter of Russell Pouch and the late Melanie (Mills) Pouch. She was a sophomore at Charlotte High School recently attained the honor roll status during the fall and winter quarters. She worked as a teacher's aid at Weymouth Grade School 4th grade class for 2 years. She is survived by her father Russell (Barbara) Pouch of Charlotte, brother Sean Pouch of Charlotte, step-sisters Sherri (Jeff) Ide of Grand Ledge, Sheli Zakora of Lansing, step-brother Michael Middaugh of Charlotte, aunts Michele Godlewski of Potterville, Laura (Bruce) Jennings of Battle Creek, grandmothers Anna Wiles and Muriel Mills of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her mother Melanie and grandfather Granvil 'Jiggs' Mills and uncle Dick Mills. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Charlotte Assembly of God with Rev. Mark Woodbury officiating. Visitation will be 7 - 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Friday at Pray Funeral Home. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Christine Wonch Creative Writing Award Fund in care of Charlotte High School.

Robert A. Harrison
77, of Charlotte, died Thursday, April 29, 2004. Mr. Harrison was born October 5, 1926, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of Howard A. and Frances G. (Lawson) Harrison. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was an accountant for Olivet College and the Eaton County Medical Care Facility until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Charlotte, Photography Society of America and Friends of the Charlotte Community Library. He had been a Scout Master in Olivet for several years. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Eileen, children Jan (Michael) Dieterle of Novi, Robert A. (Patricia) Harrison of Kalamazoo, Patricia (Melvin) Smith of Arlington, Texas, six grandchildren, Stacey, Justin and Andrea Dieterle, Kerry Harrison, Colin and Brooke Smith, and sister, Phyllis (Felix) Montville of Conway, South Carolina. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the Charlotte First Congregational Church, with Pastor Phil Hobson officiating. Burial will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church or the Parkinson Foundation.

George Dale Hennings
87 of Charlotte, died Monday, May 3, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Hennings was born May 28, 1916 in Charlotte, the son of Roy and Phebe (Sisson) Hennings. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was a rural postal carrier for the post office, retiring in 1985 and a bus driver for Charlotte Public Schools for over 25 years. Many may remember him working at the Hennings family Standard Oil Station and grocery until 1965 at the corner of Merritt and Shepherd. He was always known as an honest, generous and helpful man. In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a beekeeper, handling many 'swarms' around the area. He especially loved gardening and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Wenger) Hennings, son Richard (Sandy) Hennings of Charlotte, two grandchildren, Jerry Hennings and Roger (Pamela) Hennings, five great grandchildren, Kyle, Katelyn, Kristopher, Kevin and McKenzie, sister Eileen Weaver of Sun City, California, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Phil Hobson officiating. Interment will be in Needmore Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.

Maria Ellena Reyna
30 of Charlotte, died Monday, May 3, 2004 at her residence. Miss Reyna was born June 8, 1973 in Lansing, Michigan. She is survived by her mother, Mary Solis of Charlotte, brothers Jose (Amy) Reyna, Jr. of East Lansing, Marcos Reyna of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, sister, Jessica (John) Lewis of Charlotte and grandmother, Maria Velasquez. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Guillermo Velasquez. A funeral mass will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Timothy Byrnes as celebrant. Interment will be in Perry Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with a Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

Beverly A. Beals
72 of Potterville, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Beals was born February 28, 1932 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Herman and Dorothy (Dickerson) Durbin. Mrs. Beals enjoyed gardening and the Senior Health chat room on her computer. She is survived by children, Nancy Shinabarger, Terri (Terry) Weikert, and Susan Card, all of Grand Ledge, Jill (Randy) Martin of Potterville and Russell (Becky) Beals, Jr. of Lansing, 22 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Herman (Vi) Durbin and Harriet (Roy) Eitniear both of Potterville, Dorothy (Jerry) Tegethoff of Eaton Rapids, Katheryn (Chuck) Tegethoff of Harrison, Aletha (Stanley) Beals of Charlotte and Jean Neubert of Lansing and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Beals in 1986 and a sister, Barbara Mathews in 1982. There will be a time of fellowship with the family at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8th at the Potterville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with Pastor Rebecca Morrison officiating. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice or the Potterville United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Raymond George Dickinson
of Vermontville passed away Friday May 7, 2004 at his residence at the age of 69. Mr. Dickinson was born May 11, 1934 in Vermontville Township to his parents Glenn and Velma (Bosworth) Dickinson. Raymond became a friend to many in the area through his 32 years at Citizens Elevator in Vermontville where he retired as the assistant manager. Raymond was an avid bowler in past years playing on the local Good Fellowship League in Charlotte for a number of years. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the country side and especially enjoyed camping. He also enjoyed spending time building things in his woodworking shop, many of which were decorated as craft items by his daughter Robin. Raymond is survived by his wife Ann (Aseltine), sons Bradley and wife Paula Dickinson of Middleville, Mark and wife Tami Dickinson of Nashville, daughters Joanne and husband (Darrell) Clements Jr. of Nashville, and Robin and husband Chris Miller of Hastings, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Mr. Dickinson was preceded in death by his first wife Faith (Walters) in 1989 and his brother Fred Junior in 1977. The family will receive visitors at the Pray Funeral Home, in Charlotte Sunday from 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday at the Pray Funeral Home with Rev. George Spease of Lake Odessa officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Raymond George Dickinson.

Della Serene
age 43 of Vermontville, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at her residence. Della was born July 22, 1960 in Charlotte, Michigan, the daughter of Allan O. and Teresha (Morehouse) Serene. Della graduated from Michigan State University and had been a free lance writer for websites. She was a member of the Writer's Guild and thoroughly enjoyed being with children. She is survived by her mother Teresha and stepfather Thomas VanAuken of Vermontville, her sister, Dena (Paul) Lahr of Charlotte, two nieces, Denise and Rebecca Lahr of Charlotte, Grandmother, Idella Morehouse of Vermontville, Step-grandparents, Don and Aleta VanAuken of Vermontville, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Allan in 1969, fraternal grandparents, maternal grandfather, two aunts and an uncle. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Jeff Swift officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Kalamo. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Ingham Hospice.
