50, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, in Charlotte. Mrs. Mugford was born December 14, 1953, in Charlotte, the daughter of Rex and Bettie (Moening) Morrissey. Janis was a Certified Health Unit Coordinator for many years and enjoyed crafts. She is survived by husband David Mugford, daughter Sadie Mugford of Lansing, son Zeb Mugford of Charlotte, daughter Abbie Mugford of Lansing, her mother Bettie, brothers John (Cindy) Morrissey of Charlotte, Tom (Vickie) Morrissey of Lansing, and Matt (Julie) Morrissey of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her father Rex in 1991. A small memorial service will be planned at a later date. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.

Dale L. Norris
71, of Lansing, Michigan, died July 8, 2004. Mr. Norris was born June 11, 1933, in Charlotte, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Jessie (Claflin) Norris. Dale was a Postal worker. He volunteered at Ingham County Family Independence Agency and loved his 4 dogs and 8 cats. He is survived by his wife Eleanor Norris of Lansing, daughter Josephine Norris of Lansing, adopted daughter Jeanette Eleanor Norris of Lansing, 4 step-children Richard (Wendy) Vance of Lansing, Ronald (Shirley) Vance, Eva (Joseph) Hay of Bangor, and Elaine (Jon) Snyder of Charlotte, 10 grandchildren, sister Betty Neeb of Clarksville, brother Bill Norris of Charlotte, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and sisters. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2004 at St. Casmir Catholic Church in Lansing with Rev. Fr. William Lugger officiating. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Okemos. Visitation will be 7 - 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Sunday with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Felines.

Mildred Irene Woodworth
94, of Charlotte, Michigan, died July 9, 2004. Mrs. Woodworth was born April 21, 1910 in Shiawassee County, Michigan, the daughter of Lee and Belle (Edward) Sanders. She is survived by daughter Janet Dean of Charlotte and Bernitta Carpenter, 5 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, sister Viola Austin of Durand, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Don Woodworth in 1976, sisters Opal and Sylvia, brothers Lester and Clarence. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating. Interment will be at Millerburg Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Donald Mazrine (M) Stewart
83, of Charlotte, Michigan, died July 10, 2004. Mr. Stewart was born September 6, 1920, in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, the son of John and Helen (Chapman) Stewart. He graduated in 1938 from Vandergrift High School. He served in the Army in the European Theatre during WW II. He worked for A & P in Vandergrift for 40 years as their Produce Manager. He was a member and former Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher of the Highland Free Methodist Church in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. He is survived by son Donald (Vicki) Stewart of Florence, South Carolina; daughters Lanette (Frank) Peiffer of Ottsville, Pennsylvania, and Sheryl (Dennis) DeMond of Charlotte, Michigan; sisters Margy Fleming of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and Nancy (Bill) Buchholtz, of Apollo, Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, in December, 2003. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at the Highland Free Methodist Church in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, with Rev. Michael Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Mount Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. Visitation will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 14. Memorial contributions may be made to Dimondale Center Activities Dept., 500 North Michigan Road, Dimondale, MI 48821.

Gwenda Irene Powers
67, of Charlotte, MI, died July 11, 2004. Mrs. Powers was born January 11, 1937, in Clarkton, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas A. D. and Dorothy I. (Harrison) Miller. Gwenda worked at Michigan Magnetics of Vermontville where she retired as a Quality Control Manager. Mrs. Powers was active with her many interests over the years. Whether it was sewing clothes for her children when they were young, baking wedding cakes for many local brides, or traveling the country with her husband and family. She especially loved time spent snowmobiling, fishing and camping through the years. She was a great fan of country music and especially loved the music of Elvis Presley. Gwenda is survived by her husband Richard Lee Powers; sons Dwight M. and Ritchie (Billie Joe) of Indianapolis; daughters Natalie (Don) Brocieus of Charlotte, MI and Annette (John) Stocklass of Ferndale, Washington; brothers Russell, Billy Dean and Vernon Ray; sisters Norma Jean Hathaway of Potterville, MI and Deborah Cheeseman of Charlotte, MI; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Gary and Wilbur, and sister Nina. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, MI with Chuck Jensen officiating. Interment will be in Gresham Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 7-9 PM Monday and Tuesday at the Pray Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the Maple Valley Scholarship Fund, Eaton Community Hospice, or the Lupus Foundation.

Margaret Fern VanGelder
81 of Charlotte, died Sunday, July 11, 2004. Ms. VanGelder was born November 30, 1922 in Walton Township, Michigan, the daughter of Enos and Fern Estelle (Burlingame) Cooper. She worked for many years as a babysitter and an Avon dealer. She loved her backyard birds, collecting elephants and was a huge Elvis fan. She is survived by daughter, Yvonne French of Charlotte, Jake (Dawn) VanGelder of Charlotte, Greg VanGelder of Vermontville and eight grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.

James Clarence 'JC' Clouse
age 79, of Charlotte, MI, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004. Mr. Clouse was born to Wm. Gus and Nanny Belle (James) Clouse on October 21, 1924 in Springfield, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Phoebe (Butler-Woodworth) Clouse who he married August 6, 1953. Also survived by 1 son Robert Clouse of Vermontville, and 2 daughters, Susan (Dennis) Lea and Linda (Norman) Clark, all of Traverse City, 2 step-sons, James (Joanne) Woodworth and Robert Woodworth, both of Eaton Rapids, step-daughter, Carol (Steve) Brooks of Springfield, 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004 at the Charlotte Assembly of God Church with Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. Visitation will be 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.

Kelly R. Lee
44, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004. Miss Lee was born December 29, 1959, in Lansing, Michigan the daughter of Gary and Nina (Abernathy) Lee. Kelly was a production worker for Titan Products. She enjoyed drawing, photography, and animals. She is survived by father Gary Lee, brothers Alan D. (Annette) Lee of Vermontville, Ralph D. Lee of Eaton Rapids, 8 nieces and nephews; Jamie, Aaron, Andrea, Dillon, Aaron, Brianna, Brandy and Jaden, aunts; Debbie (Walt) Ribby of Eaton Rapids, Lisa Wood of Lansing, Lori Keyes (Kevin Frisbie) of Holt, Mary Abernathy of Kentucky, uncles; Sam (Floyce) Abernathy of Charlotte, Rich (Mary) Abernathy of Charlotte, Jeff (Sandy) Jester of Coloma, and grandmother Gloria Abernathy of Lansing. She was preceded in death by her mother Nina Lee in 2002, brothers Gary Lee Jr. in 1975 and Mark E. Lee in 1996. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Merle Bradley officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Pray Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County Animal Shelter.

Carl D. Harrison
76, of Lansing, Michigan, died Thursday, July 22, 2004. Mr. Harrison was born June 22, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William G. and Elvera (Deidricks) Harrison. Carl was a screw machinist. He is survived by wife Juanita Harrison, daughters Vera (Jack) Stewart of Florida, Theda Harrison of Michigan, Anna Nevarro of Nevada, Sarah Reich of Washington and son Theodore Harrison of Wisconsin and 10 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2004, at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Mr. Burton Smith officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.

Barbara Ann Rosser
50, Charlotte, Michigan, died July 22, 2004. Barbara was born March 15, 1954, in Reed City, Michigan, the daughter of Donald and Lois (McLachlan) Rohdy. She is survived by son Corey Rosser of Webberville, daughters Kelly (Bryon) Marsh of Evart and Bailey Rosser of Charlotte, sister Carol (Randal) Reedy of Evart, brothers Steve (Pam) Rohdy of Charlotte, Donald (Karen) Rohdy of Barryton, Richard (Kendra) Rohdy of Manistee and Gary (Amy) Rohdy of Farwell. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Pastor Phil Hobson officiating. Interment will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Hills Cemetery in Evart, Michigan. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Charlotte Oriole Band Boosters.

Cynthia 'Cindy' Marie Nevins
age 40 of Charlotte, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and best friend, went to be with the Lord, Friday, July 23, 2004 after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and caring ways. Cindy was born August 31, 1963 in St. Johns, Michigan, the daughter of Owen and Veronica (Eiseler) Feldpausch. She was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School and a Departmental Technician for the State of Michigan, Office of Public School Retirement. She loved to support those around her and was an avid Charlotte Orioles fan. She is survived by her husband Robert 'Robb' Nevins II, son Grant Nevins, daughters Becky Nevins, Rikki Nevins, and Robbyn (Michael) Hamilton, granddaughter Jade Annmarie Hamilton, all of Charlotte, sister Tammy (Jack) Coffey, mother Veronica (John) Davis, brother Larry (Kathy) Feldpausch, all of Lansing, brothers-in-law Rick (Toni) Nevins, Ryan Nevins and Rory Nevins, mother-in-law Marilyn Royston Garlow and husband Richard, father-in-law Bob Nevins, stepmother-in-law Jeanette Nevins, all of Charlotte, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Owen Feldpausch and brother Lynn Feldpausch. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Eaton Community Hospice House for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Tim Olson officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be Sunday 6-8 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Eaton Community Hospice House.

William Gene Boone
47, was born May 19, 1957 in Traverse City, Michigan, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 28, 2004. Bill was a 1975 graduate of Charlotte High School, attended Ferris State University and has been a resident of Charlotte since 1971. He was employed with the State of Michigan as a correction officer at Jackson State Prison for 16 years. Bill was extremely involved with his children's wrestling, football, basketball, cheerleading and loved doing things for his family. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He enjoyed sharing his garden produce with his family and friends. Bill is survived by his wife Tamela Ruth, son Corbin Joseph, and daughter Erin Emily. Also survived by his parents Wendell Gene and Lou Ann Boone, brother Scott Matthew Boone (Vicki) of Jackson, MS., sisters Wendy Lou Fox (Michael) of Olivet, MI., and Teresa 'Terrie' Sue Halsey of Whitmore Lake, MI., grandmother Lucile A. Boone of Traverse City, and 7 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Daniel Joseph Boone, Percy Roland Schepers, Geraldine Schepers-Caulkins, and Aunt Nancy Schepers-Coats. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church 210 E. Lawrence Avenue, Charlotte, with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to an educational fund for the children.

Lawrence A. Frith
84, of Vermontville, Michigan, died Thursday, August 5, 2004. Mr. Frith was born January 24, 1920, in Vermontville, Michigan, the son of Fred F. and Margaret (Shetenhelm) Frith. Lawrence served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was the Postmaster for Vermontville retiring June 3, 1985. He was a member of the Vermontville Farm Bureau, Lifetime Member of the Vermontville American Legion #222, Masonic Lodge 232 and Masonic Lodge #255 F&AM, Royal Arch Chapter 171 of Nashville, National Association of Postmasters and National League of Postmasters. He is survived by his wife Marville (Lindberg), daughters Patricia (Gordon) Swan of Coldwater, Barbara (Jerry) Pixley of Augusta, sons Russell (Sharen) Frith and Bart Frith of Vermontville, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother Earl (Arlene) Frith of Lansing, and sister-in-law Lillian Frith of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his brothers Donald Robert Frith & Morris Fred Frith. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2004 at Vermontville United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Smith and Pastor David Johnston officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Vermontville, Michigan. Visitation will be 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Sunday at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Barry County Hospice.

Marlene Joyce Rood
68, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Friday, August 06, 2004. Mrs. Rood was born March 3, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan the daughter of James Trahair and Pearl Christensen. She was a manager at Circle K Convenience Store and Owner of Marty's Limousine Service in Dunedin, Florida. She was known as one of the '3 Musketeers' of Kiwanis Manor in Charlotte. She is survived by daughters Kim (Donald) Trader of Olivet, Carolyn (Steve) Cyphert of Charlotte and Vicky Good of Olivet, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and sister Dorothea Maggard of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by husband Edmund L. Rood, son Steven Rood, brother James, her parents and her step-father Harold Smith. Memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan, with Rev. Doug Hammond officiating. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Lupus Foundation or the American Heart Association.
