Dorothy Mildred Stark
92, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Friday, October 17, 2003. Mrs. Stark was born May 20, 1911, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Ralph M. and Grace M. (Jex) Hoag. She enjoyed following her grandchildren and great grandchildren to their sports and band activities. She was a member of the Crossroads Church, Kitchen Band of Charlotte, Grandmother's Bowling League, Brookfield Extension and Superintendent of Senior Citizens Open Class Booth where she displayed her needle work and crafts as the oldest exhibitor at the Eaton County Fair. Dorothy was also a member of the former Center Eaton United Methodist Church. She is survived by son Norris R. 'Cy' (Shirley) Stark of Hastings, MI, daughter, Zoe Ann Baxter of Baraboo, WI, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Norris A. Stark in 1977. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2003 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Mike Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 3 - 5 p.m. Saturday and 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. Sunday at Pray Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads Church or the charity of their choice.

Winona 'Pat' Lumbert
69 of Charlotte, died Monday, October 20, 2003. Mrs. Lumbert was born February 17, 1934 in Athens, Michigan, the daughter of John L. and Arlene (Ling) Watson, Sr. She worked as a nurse's aide at Eaton Manor, enjoyed her great nieces and nephews and was a proud member of the Potawatomi Tribe of Michigan. She is survived by her husband Arthur Lumbert; brother Frank (Mary) Watson of Scotts, Michigan; sister Wanetta Watson of Fulton, Michigan; nephew Claude (Sue) Hine of Vermontville, Michigan; niece Lorie (Roger) Smith of Vermontville, Michigan and nephew Larry Watson of Charlotte, Michigan. She was preceded in death by sisters Ramona Hine, Barbara Watson, Beverly Watson and brothers John Watson and Jim Garvie. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2003 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with R. Raymond Rossell officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Julia Fetchkowsky
88 of Charlotte, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility. Ms. Fetchkowsky was born October 18, 1915 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Ignatz and Mary (Koadotze) Matwyuk. She worked for an office cleaning service. She is survived by sister Mary Smith of Kentucky and brothers Steve Matwyuk of Georgia and Frank Matwyuk of South Branch. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte, with Rev. Fr. Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

infant daughters of Mike Weller and Angela Stinson of Potterville died October 23, 2003 at Sparrow Hospital. The girls are survived by their parents and grandparents, Otho and Georgia Weller of South Carolina and Dennis and Sue Stinson of Charlotte, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, October 27, 2003 with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. with Fr. John Fain of St. Gerard Catholic Church of Lansing officiating.

Coralee Margaret Pierce
92, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Friday, October 24, 2003. Mrs. Pierce was born December 23, 1910, in Tilbury East, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Campbell) Simpson. She was a resident of Jackson for 35 years until 1974. She was involved in various art groups and she and her husband owned Pierce Hardware in Jackson for many years. She was a teacher in the Jackson Public Schools from 1956 until her retirement in 1971. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Charles) Zwick of Charlotte, Michigan, 3 grandchildren, Duane (Cynthia) Zwick of Charlotte, Kristina Zwick of Lansing and Eric (Stephanie) Zwick of Houston, Tx. and 1 great grandchild, Caden Zwick of Houston, Tx. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Pierce in 1979. Graveside services will be 1:00 Tuesday, October 28th, Highland Cemetery, Brooklyn, Mi.

Betty Jane Betts
79, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Saturday, October 25, 2003. Mrs. Betts was born February 16, 1924, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Alexander Gemmill and Bessie (Moore) Gemmill. She was a homemaker and enjoyed art & crafts, gardening, cooking, baking, camping, and traveling. She enjoyed the cats and dogs over the years. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Elmer Betts; son Bob (Brenda) Betts of Vermontville; daughter Vickie (Stewart) Sorenson of Charlotte; and daughter-in-law Chris Betts of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her son Richard Betts in 2002; brother Loy and sister Crystal. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 2 - 4:00 p.m. and 7 - 9:00 p.m., Monday, October 27, at Pray Funeral Home.

Georgia Faye Satterlee
79, of Holland, formerly of Charlotte, Michigan, died Sunday, October 26, 2003. Mrs. Satterlee was born March 24, 1924, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Burr Clifford Wright and Muriel Grace (Mullins) Wright. She was a homemaker and enjoyed making quilts and teddy bears. She was also active in projects to support the missionaries of the Chester Gospel Church. She is survived by her daughters Dawn (Michael) Green of Holland, and Deana (David) Chance of Ypsilanti; brothers Charles (Betty) Wright of Charlotte, Burr Spencer (Sondra) Wright of Grandville and Lowell Patrick (Dorothy) Wright of Flint; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Satterlee in 1989 and 6 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Merrit Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Gresham Cemetery, Charlotte. Visitation will be 3 - 5:00 p.m. and 7 - 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, at Pray Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions to The Gideon's or Child Evangelism Fellowship.

Louise Gracey
87, of Charlotte, Michigan, formerly of Del Ray Beach, Florida, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003. Mrs. Gracey was born January 30, 1916, in Pittsfield, Illinois the daughter of William H. and Laura (Surratte) Drummond. She is survived by nephews Bruce (Joyce) Fillmore of Charlotte, James Boyer of Royal Oak, nieces Carolyn Fillmore Wilson of South Lyons, Susan Fillmore of Columbia, Maryland, second cousins William George and John George both of Arizona. Louise was predeceased by her husband Dr. Graham Gracey in 1981. Graveside service will be 3:15 PM Thursday, October 30, 2003 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mason, Michigan with Rev. Fr. Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Kathleen E. Davids
83, of Coolidge, Arizona, formerly of Charlotte died November 4, 2003. Mrs. Davids was born November 2, 1920 in Sault St. Marie, Michigan the daughter of Wilfred and Pearl (Fletcher) Hembroff. She is survived by nephew Roy Fonville of Coolidge, Arizona. Kathleen married Craig Davids on April 14, 1944 and they founded the Charlotte WCER Radio Station. She was preceded in death by her husband Craig Davids in 1990. She was a member of the Monday Nighters, Coolidge Community Presbyterian Church and a Garden Club. Graveside service was 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte, with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating.

Raymond Jack Beals
70 of Charlotte, died November 8, 2003 in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Beals was born November 17, 1932 in Charlotte, the son of Renold and Thelma (Wright) Beals, Sr. He was a janitor at Oldsmobile for 28 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the Charlotte American Legion Post #42, Charlotte VFW Post 2406 and Eagles Aerie #1049 of Lansing. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maryellen (LaFountain) Beals; sons Jerry Lee and Jeffrey Joseph Beals both of Charlotte; daughter Julie (Charles) Jones of Charlotte; five grandchildren Becky (Greg) Hettich, Matthew Jones, Brian Jones, Jesse and Donny Beals; two great grandchildren Kilee Hettich and Kollen Jones; brothers Renold (Joyce) Beals, Jr. of Harrison, Stanley (Letha) of Charlotte, Roger (Yvonne) of Charlotte, Bruce (Elaine) of Ontario, California, sisters Shirley (Amos) Ellsworth of Lansing, Linda (Ray) Winters of Charlotte, and Judy (Leonard) Wisinski of Haslett. He was preceded in death by sisters Cathleen Murray, Rosemary Gould and brother Russell Beals. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating. Interment will be in Bosworth Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. both Sunday and Monday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County Medical Care Facility.

Leslie August Thies
82, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Sunday, November 9, 2003. Mr. Thies was born September 19, 1921, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of August and Gladys Thies. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was a former Chief of the Oldwick Fire Company in New Jersey and was Parts Manager for the Holland Hitch Company. He enjoyed woodworking, reading western novels and loved horses. He is survived by his wife of 17 years Lillian (Johnson), daughter Cheryl (Bryan) Steele of Unadilla, New York, sons Leslie G. (Carolyn) Thies and Richard Thies both of Franklin, New York, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, step-daughters Jean Martin and Sharon (Carl) Mensing of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, step-sons Jon B. Feller of Clinton, New Jersey and Chris W. Feller of Lead, South Dakota, 6 step-grandchildren and one step great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mildred in 1981 and 2 grandchildren.

Edith L. Gates
97 formerly of Grand Rapids, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 in Charlotte. Miss Gates was born July 24, 1906, in Kent County, Michigan, the daughter of Silas and Ottilie (Fechtenau) Gates. She was a member of Forest Hills Bible Chapel in Grand Rapids and served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for many years with Children's Bible Clubs and at Jack and Jill Camp. She is survived by her sister, Rena Gates of Grand Rapids, Michigan many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister: Lillie Conklin in 1999. Graveside Services will be 11:00am Saturday, November 15, 2003, in Fair Plains Cemetery, Grand Rapids, with Pastor Rick Larman officiating.

Phyllis I Aseltine
70, died Thursday, November 13, 2003, in Lansing, Michigan. Mrs. Aseltine was born January 28, 1933, in Barryton, Michigan, the daughter of David and Grace (Holmes) Ruthruff. She married John Aseltine, January 29, 1954, in Lansing, Michigan. Mrs. Aseltine was a member of VFW Post #2406 Auxiliary, Past President of the American Legion Post #42 Auxiliary. She also worked on the local election commission. She was a big bingo fan and loved the outdoors and going to their cabin in Fairview, Michigan to enjoy all the outdoors. She is survived by her husband of 49 years John Aseltine, daughter, Cindy (Dennis) Stowell of Palo, two sons: John (Pat) Aseltine of Holt, Raymond (Lori) Aseltine of Charlotte, eight grandchildren, B.J. and Kate Parrish, Shaunie Aseltine, Jennifer Aseltine and Dallas Aseltine, Lisa, Jennifer, Christine Janz, 1 great grandchild, Makala Brzezinski, five brothers, Donald Ruthruff, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Robert (Patsy) Ruthruff of Olivet, Carl (Ann) Ruthruff of Florida, Jimmy John (Marie) of Florida, and Ken (Diane) of Florida. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 17, 2003 at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Darwin Kuhl officiating. Interment will be in West Carmel Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Pray Funeral Home. If desired memorial contributions maybe made to the American Cancer Society.

Stephen Ray Turner
58 of Eaton Rapids, died Monday, November 17, 2003 in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Turner was born July 22, 1945 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Rexford and Leah LaFern (Galbreath) Turner. He worked in skilled trades at Plant 1, B.O.C. for 37 years and for the last 4 years he did maintenance work through the Jobs Bank at the VFW Home in Eaton Rapids. He was known for being able to fix just about anything. He was an avid hot rod fan and a member of the National Hot Rod Association. He was also a member of the Good Guys Rod & Custom Association. He is survived by his wife Judith (Bodell) Turner, daughter April M. (Turner) Trine, sons Stephen L. (Tabitha Hester) Turner, Wade (Sherrill) Turner and LeeRoy D. (Crystal Spaulding) Turner, all of Eaton Rapids, 14 grandchildren, father Rexford (Olga) Turner, brothers Rexford Michael (Debbie) Turner and Daniel Joe (Kate) Turner, both of Eaton Rapids, sisters Julia (James) Leslie and Marty (Bill) Long both of Dimondale. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2003 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Randy Royston officiating. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
