Mary "Mamie" (Kastelic) Munch, 89, of Calumet, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 1998. Mamie is survived by one son and his wife, Louis and Sylvia Munch of Calumet. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, at St Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet.

Bertha Smith, 86, of Ontonagon, passed away on Sunday August, 9, 1998. Surviving are her sons, Raymond of Dearborn, and Charles of Madison, WI.; a daughter, Ilona Zizic of Ventura, CA.; two grandsons and a great granddaughters.

Mary Istola, 65, of Greenland, died on Sunday, August 9, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Eli; five children, Julie Lowe of Wayland, MI, Daniel of Milwaukee, Cindy, Lynn and Charles, all of Greenland. Funeral services Thursday, 11 AM, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Mass City.

Elsie E. Laru, 87, of Painsdale, died on Saturday, August 8, 1998. As requested by Elsie, there will be no visitation. Cremation will take place and a graveside service will be held at a later date in the Toivola Cemetery. Elsie is survived by two sons, Dennis Bloom of South Range and Lauri Wiitila of Houghton; one daughter, Gloris Busniewski of Rio Rancho, NM; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Edward V. Besola, 79, of Laurium, died Saturday, August 8, 1998. Surviving are several cousins. Interment will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.

Dorothy (Colwander) MacEachran, 90, of Calumet, died on August 6th. She is survived by a daughter Elizabeth of Paris, France and a brother, Reuben of Cape Coral, FL. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 12th at the Calumet United Methodist Church in Calumet.

Lyyli S. (Pulkki) Oja, 90, of L'Anse, passed away Friday, August 7, 1998. Surviving are three daughters, Eleanore Cocozella of Sedona, AZ, Helen Anderson of Atlantic Mine, Alyce Elmblad of L'Anse, one son, Martin of Hermansville; 18 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Sylvia M. (Kobe) Rintala, 75, a former resident of Baltic, died on Thursday, August 6, 1998. Surviving are six sons, John of Hancock, David of Painesdale, Steven of Pewaukee, WI, Kenneth of Okauchee, WI, Dennis of Atlantic Mine; seven daughters, Barbara Peterson of Sussex, WI, Mary Gunwald of Pewaukee, WI, Virginia Rintala of South Range, Nancy Rintala of hancock, Patricia Jaehnig of Houghton, Cathy Puuri of Atlantic Mine, Sarah Roth of Dodgeville; and sixteen grandchildren.

Clifford D. Peterson, 48, of Kearsarge, died on August 2, 1998. He is survived by his parents, C. Dale and Helen Peterson and a brother, Keith of Chicago.

Jack S. Kratt, 63, of Twin Lakes and owner of the Wyandotte Hills Golf Course, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 1998. Surviving are his wife, Betty and one son, Greg. In lieu of other expressins of sympathy, the family suggests memorials be given to the Jim Silbilsky-Jack Kratt Memorial Scholorship Fund.

Harrison Bammert, 94, of Five Mile Point Road, died on August 6, 1998. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Blind, three grandchildren, Laura VanderVeen of Troy, Kristine DeKoekkoek of Houston, TX, and Kevin Blind of West Bloomfield, MI.

Walter Paquette, 89, of Lake Linden died August 2, 1998. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; one sister, Bertha Opal and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Toney J. Paulson, 88, of Houghton, passed away on Monday, August 3rd. Surviving are four nephews. Private services were handled through the Memorial Chapel of Hancock.

Michael J. Labisoniere, 92, of Sault Ste. Marie died on Monday, August 3, 1998. Survivors are a sister, Jean Sicotte of Kohler, WI; and a brother, John of Sandusky, Ohio.

William "Red" Nicholls, 68, of US 41m Houghton, passed away Saturday, August 1, 1998. Surviving are his wife, Joan; three daughters, Patricia Destrampe of Battle Creek, Emily Walikainen of Hancock, Debra Dow of Hancock; and one son, Stephen of Marquette.

Roy A. Polso, 78, of Hancock, died on Saturday, August 1, 1998. He is survived by two sisters, Aino Wiitanen of East Peoria, IL., and Helen Kinnunen of South Range.

Hazel (Barnett) Loosemore, 93, of L'Anse, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at the Winkler Nursing Home in L'Anse. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 3, 1998, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee at 11 AM.

Clem H. Hohner, 86, a resident of Lake Linden, died Thursday, July 30, 1998. Surviving are two sons; professor Robert Hohner of London, Ontario and Lawrence Poissant of Ishpeming; one daughter, Ptricia Clements of Tamarack City. Funeral services were at St. Joseph's Church in Lake Linden.

Darryl D. Paavo, 49, of Hancock, died on Wednesday, July 29, 1998. Surviving are his mother, Libby Koski of Ripley, two sons, Kenneth of Dollar Bay and Darryl of Painesdale; one daughter, Tammy of Ironwood. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, August 3, 1998, at the Jukuri-Antial Funeral Home in Hancock.

Louis A. Lee, 71, of L'Anse, died Tuesday, July 28, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is in charge of the arrangements.

John T. Hodges, 45, of Calumet, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Care Facility on Wednesday, July 19, 1998, following an automobile accident. He was a lifelong resident of Calumet and was employed at Michigan Technological University as a professor. Surviving are his wife, Julie, a daughter, Mollie Rowe of Calumet, a son, Ian, at home.

Melvin R. Backman, 82, of Gay, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, WI. He is survived by his wife, Alice.

Patrick M. Aldrich, 50, of Manistique, died July 28, 1998, at his residence. Surviving are his wife, paula; children, Michael, Shaunna Hoel, both of Manistique.

Sherry Burnette-Barstow, 33, of Menominee, died Friday, July 24, 1998, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. She is survived by her husband, Jonathan; daughter, LeAnne and son, Preston. Her parents are LeRoy and Sandra Brunette of Escanaba.

Eino John Arkelin, 96,of Ontonagon, passed away on July 26, 1998, at the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital. He was born in Finland on February 27, 1902. He came to the United States with his parents as a young boy. Surviving are hsi brothers, Roy of Whitehouse, TX, and Rudy of Ontonagon; sisters, Lillian Harnish, Sylvia Swanberg, and Jennie Hill, all of Ontonagon.

Arthur R. Muzzin, 71, a resident of Tamarack Street, Laurium, passed away on Monday, July 27, 1998. Surviving are his wife, Betty; two sons, Victor of Allen Park, and John at home; five daughters, Christine Muzzin of Lincoln Park, MI, Laura Bogart of Wyandotte, Mary Huber of Jacksonville, FL, Amy Krans of Sault Ste. Marie, Beth Muzzin at home; twenty five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

Francis McCormack, 86, of Calumet, died at his home on July 26, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, and son, James of Waukegan, IL.

Earl Lark, 71, of Kearsarge, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, at Marquette General Hospital where he was a patient for the past five days.

Arthur H. Niemala, 71, a former resident of the Airport Road, Dollar By, passed away Saturday, July 25, 1998. Surviving are two sisters, Saima Austin of State College, PA, and Helen Niemala of Detroit; and one brother, William of Dollar Bay.

Larry Stelmaszek, 53, died on Monday, July 20, 1998, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Cincinnati, seven step-children, 15 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Arthur C. Morrison, 74, of Bergland, passed away July 23, 1998. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, July 27, 1998, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland. Funeral services will follow.

Ella J. Bjornell, 50, of Ishpeming died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at Marquette General Hospital. Visitation will be from 10-11 Am on Monday at the Sirard Funeral Home in Baraga, Graveside services will be at 11:15 Am at Assinins Cemetery in Baraga.

John R. Hella, 58, of L'Anse passed away on July 23, 1998, at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services at 1 PM on Monday, July 27, 1998, at the Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse. He is survived by his wife, Francesca; one son, John R. P. Hella of Sterling Heights; a stepson, Richard Stiltner of Lake Orion,; three stepdaughters, Frances McCormick of San Francisco, Bonnie Simons of Boston, and Jennifer Kidd of Westland, MI.

Waldtraut (Schmidt) Mauer, 99, of Ishpeming, died on July 20, 1998. All her life Waldtraut loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Her motto was "Work is love made visible." She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Skaates)Weingarten.

Toivo A. Suhonen, 86, of Dollar Bay, died on Tuesday, July 21, 1998. Surviving are his wife, Hulda; two sisters, Eleanore Maatta of Houghton and June Pohjala.

Betty (Belanger) Ellenich, 72, a resident of Sixth Street, Calumet, passed away on July 21, 1998. Surviving are her husband, Larry; two sons, Chuck and Joey of Calumet; a daughter, Patty Glass also of Calumet.

Dhiti Tepkasetkul (Tepka), 57, a well known Hancock surgeon, died at Portage View Hospital on Sunday, July 19, 1998. He was born in Thailand on April 1, 1941. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his daughters' college fund as a token of his love and concern for them. Surviving is his wife Leslie; and three daughters, Michelle, Stephanie, and Alexandra.

Edward Lukezich, 83, of Calumet, passed away in his home. Surviving are a brother J. Carl and a sister, Rose, both of Calumet. Also surviving are daughter Rita Pollock of Evergreen, CO, and sons Paul of Milwaukee, and Stephen of Dayton, OH.

Clifford Sibilsky, 87, of Lake Linden, died Sunday, July 19, 1998. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at the Pearce Funeral Houme in Lake Linden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly. Surviving are his wife Edna, one daughter, Dr. Carolee Jones of Muncie; one granddaughter, Cheryl Scholz of St. Louis, and one grandson, David Sormunen of Green Bay.

Doris (Spelich) Heikkinen, 56,of Calumet passed away on July 17, 1998 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Services Wednesday at 1 PM in the Peterson Funeral Home of Hancock. Surviving are her husband, Milton; two sons, Brian of Calumet and Jason of Calumet; two daughters, Tammy of Dollar Bay, and Renee of Los Angeles.

Lucile (Segel) Uhlig, 80, of Ontonagon, died on July 17, 1998. Lucile is survived by her husband David; son, William of Ontonagon, and daughter Audre Lindstrom of White Pine.

Robert E. Rulison, 86, of Hancock, died on July 17, 1998. Surviving are his wife, Katherine of Hancock; two sons, Richard of Elo and David of Tapiola.

William G. Konstenius, a well-known and respected retired judge, died Thursday, July 16, 1998. He served as 97th District Judge for Baraga, Houghton, and Keweenaw Countis for twenty two years. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 23, 1998, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga at 11 AM. Judge Konstenius is survived by his wife, of fifty-five years, Jackie. The Konstenius's had four children, Patricia of Pelkie, Stephen of Colorado, Donna Bass of Indianapolis, and Karen Hahn of Macon, GA.

Gust V. Soli, 84, of L'Anse, died Wednesday, July 15. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.

Maxine (Biegajski) Bennett, 79, of L'Anse died on July 16, 1998. The family suggests memorials may be made to Sacred Heart School in lieu of other expressions of sympathy.

Mary (Hrovatich) Bracco, 87, of Calumet, passed away July 16, 1998. Surviving are sons Bob, Greg, and Paul; two grandson; three granddaughters; nine great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

James W. Wareham, 79, of Houghton, died on Tuesday, July 14, 1998. Surviving are his wife, Mildred of Houghton, two daughters, Suzanne Aho of Keller, Texas, Pamela Washnock of Tucson, AZ; and three grandchildren.

Elizabeth (Grigg) Wasik, 68, of Hecla Street in Calumet, died at her home on July 15, 1998. She is survived by three daughters, Cassandra Skutt of Allouez, Cecelia of Calumet and Claudia Wasik-Manninen of Dollar Bay; a son Gregory of Laurium; and two sisters, Philamena Coburn of Nevada, and Florence Williams of Troy.

Ida Kujansuu, 88, a longtime resident of Pike River Road, Chassell, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998. She is survived by a son, Jack of Pike River Road, Chassell, and one sister, Emilia Peters of Grosse Ile, MI.

Corrine Bedore, 88, of Calumet passed away monday, July 13, 1998. She is survived by nine stepchildren, Martha Schuck of Calumet, Lyle Cole of New Hmpshire, Judy Webb of Georgia, Tedi Bedore Jr. of Kentucky, Eric bedore of Wisconsin, and Luke Bedore of Calumet.

Lillian (Haynes) Ala, 95, of Iroquois Street, Laurium passed away Monday, July 13, 1998. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 16, at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home of Calumet. Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy Anthony of Laurium; a stepdaughter, Jean Matthes of San Diego, CA, fifteen grandchildren; and twenty eight great-grandchildren.

Ester Cox, 97, a longtime resident of Laurium, died on July 9, 1998. She is survived by her stepchildren Richard Cox of St. Louis and Charles Cox of Florida.

Dorothy (Poole) Carlson, 88, a resident of Rockland Street, Calumet, died on July 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Callahan of Kansas City, MO and Janet Carlson of Lathrup Village, MI.

David R. Laurn, 49, of Hancock passed away at Marquette General Hospital where he had been a patient for the past week. Dave was a very talented musician and had played for various local bands. At the present time he was playing with the band named "Rebel Without a Clue". Surviving are two brothers, Arthur of Houghton, and Kenneth of Pheonix, AZ.

Helen G. (Williams) Chynoweth, 97, a former resident of Jasberg Street, Hancock passed away July 7, 1998. Surviving are two sons, Benjamine of Ontonagon and Robert of Casper, Wy.

Emil Vincent, 81, of Calumet passed away on July 4, 1998. He received the Purple Hart during World War II when he served in Northern France in the European Theater. He is survived by his wife, Mamie; two daughters, Rita Musich of Old Colony Road, and Mary King of M-26.

Elma S. (Kaurala) Perttunen, 88, of Rousseau/Mass City area, died Sunday, July 5, 1998. She is survived by three sons, Rudolph of Novi, William of Livonia, and Russell of Madison, WI.

Charles Polaharvi, 83, a lifelong Keweenaw County resident, passed away at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans on July 5, 1998. He is survived by two nieces, Grace Young of Mason and Louis Yuhas of Bedford, OH.

Wesley W. Kangas, 72, of Shafter Street, Hancock and former Hancock city mayor and councilman died on Sunday, July 5, 1998. Surviving are his wife, Ruth and one sister, Shirley Harjala of Hancock.

William O. Komula, 85, of Hancock, died on July 3, 1998. Bill owned and operated Komula Sales and Service in Hancock and the Hancock Econo Wash, and was a co-owner of the Wash-A-Rama Cleaning Village in Houghton. Surviving are eight daughters, Bertha Ziulkowski of Kansas City, MO., Alice Ponga of Milwaukee, WI., Helen Thomas of Denver, CO, Shirley Rintala of Houghton Canal; Sharon Berner of Davenport, FL, Ethel Chandanais of Houghton, Donna Komula of Houghton; and Viola McMahon of Rhode Island.

Charlotte (Auger) Saarinen, 74, of L'Anse, passed away on July 1, 1998 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband Mike; three sons, David Saarinen, M.D., of Ashland WI., Bill and John, both of L'Anse.

John Testen, 88,of L'Anse, died at his home on June 30, 1998. Surviving him are his wife, Amelia; a son, Terry of Perrysburg, OH; and a daughter, Judy Smith of Ishpeming.

William A. Aittama, 87, a resident of Frenchtown Location, Ripley, passed away June 30, 1998. Bill's hobby was creative woodcarvings which were displayed at the Finnish-American Heritage Center at Suomi College and at the Lake Linden Historical Museum. Surviving are his wife, Lillian, and one daughter, Violet Lasanen of Frenchtown Location.

Lempi M. Randell, 90, of Ferndale died on June 27, 1998. She is survived by her stepchildren, Vira Schmidt, Verna Delaney, Phyllis May, Dorothy Robinson, Clayton Randell, and Paul Randell.

Julie (Vanni) Ohrenstein, 87, of Mohawk, passed away Monday, June 29, 1998. She is survived by a daughter, Lynn CArter of Libertyville, IL.

Joseph J. Kangas, 19, of Liminga, died Monday, June 29, 1998, as a result of injuries received in a car accident. Surviving are his mother, Lucinda ; one sister, Paula Jeffrey of Grand Rapids; two brothers, Chris of Grand Rapids, and Phil, at home. He was preceded in death by his father, James, in 1988, and a brother, Jimmer, in 1976.

Archie Hendrickson, 85, of Ontonagon died Saturday, June 27, 1998 after many years of struggling with cancer.

Josh Bader, 14, Mass City died Saturday, June 27, 1998 at Marquette General Hospital. Josh was frequently seen in the community in his wheelchair pushed by a wheel chair dog. He helped to train wheelchair dogs for others and, although confined to a wheelchair for his entire life, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and downhill skiing.

Roberta (Kadletz) Luttinen, 69, of White Pine, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 1998. Mrs. Luttinen is survived by her husband, Roy, three daughters, Cynthis Gruenberg of Hales Corners, WI, Robin Stayton of White Hall, AK, and Michelle McElhinny of Iron Mountain; three sons, Thomas Sybeldon and Michael Sybeldon, both of West Bend, WI., and Eric Luttinen of Oshkosh, WI; nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Marceline M. Newland, 88, of L'Anse died Tuesday, June 23, 1998 at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She is survived by a son, Gordon Newland of Brimley; two daughters, Marcella Auger and Donna Blood, both of L'Anse; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Aurora (Marion) Newland, 81, of L'Anse died Friday, June 19, 1998. Surviving are two sons, James of L'Anse and Daniel of Champion; four daughters, Joan Perex of Bucyrus, KS, Janet Kiefel of Aurora, IL, Bonnie Henry and Connie Manning both of Aurora, IL; 20 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Urho E. Lampi, 80, of Mass City, passed away June 16, 1998, at the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Elna; a daughter Carole Makin of Highland Park; a son, Harold Lampi of Royal Oak; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Bruce F. Ziemnick, 53, a resident of Bootjack, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at his home following a several month illness. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn , two daughters, Tina of Bootjack, and Tammy of Lansing.

Elsie Elizabeth Moehrke, 74, of Houghton, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 1998. She is survived by a niece, Barbara Hauswirth of Marquette and a nephew, Byron Boyd of Savannah, GA.

Marie (Mongeau) Lokojarvi, 82, a former resident of Arbor Green, Houghton, passed away Sunday, June 14, 1998. Surviving are three daughters, Gladys Brownlee of Caroga Lake, NY, Catherine Kallio of Hancock, and Carole Kangas of Dayton, Nevads; seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Hilda Narhi Pouttu, 86, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, January 7, 1998, in McKinnon GA. Surviving are a son, Bent John Pouttu of Elo; daughters, Paula Pouttu Glass of Houghton, Helen Cooke of Western Springs, IL, Linda Schumacher of Belevue, Wash., Alice Karsama of Chassell, MI, and Gail Pouttu of Hancock. She has eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Barbara (Fisher) Foster, 62, of Laurium was called home on June 13, 1998. Surviving are her husband, George; one son, Michael of Milwaukee, three daughters, Kim Nichols of Laurium, Nanette Parske of Laurium, Julie Foster of Houghton and her mother Empi Fisher of Duluth, MN.

Anita (Fall) Tuominen, 41, a resident of Worham Road, Chassell, died after a lengthy battle with cancer. She passed away on Saturday, June 13, 1998. Surviving are her husband, Michael; one daughter; Crystal Fall of Dearborn Heights; four sons, Brent Magyar of Wixom, MI, Joseph Magyar of Houghton, Michael and Randy Tuominen, both of Chassell.

John F. Payne, 94, a well known Baraga resident, died on Wednesday, June 10, 1998. A memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 22, 10 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Baraga. John is survived by one son, Fred of Mesa, Az, five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Bernard G. Bretall, 75, of Bessemer died Tuesday, June 9, 1998. At Bernard's request there will be no services or visitation. Surviving are his wife Alice, fours sons, Bernard of Racine, WI, Barry of Chesaning, Daniel of Ramsay, David of Marquette; daughters, Christine Carli of Ironwood, Suzanne Bretall of Ramsay, Joan Jurmu of Hancock, and eight grandchildren.

Matt E. Pukema, 80, formerly of Calumet, passed away Thursday, June 11, 1998. The funeral service will be Monady at 11 AM in the Peterson Funeral Home. Surviving are his wife, Helen of Fendale; one daughter, Judy Harpster of Goode, Va; and one granddaughter.

John Tarak, Jr., 95, a resident of Main Street, Dodgeville, passed away Thursday, June 11, 1998. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 15, 1998, at 1 PM at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock. He is survived by his wife Ann; two sisters, Marie Cortright and Julie Volf both of Spring Lake, MI.

Lillian McCroskey - A memorial service will be at 1 PM on June 17th at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon.

Doris Faye Hautamaki, 73, of Ontonagon, died May 19,1998. Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Sunday, June 14, at the Alston Cemetery.

Gerald Hlmstrom, 57, of Mass City died Thursday, June 11, 1998. Surviving are his wife Eileen (Carlson), and two sons, Eric of Kimberly, Wi, and Brad of Mass City.

Clyde W. Blake, 71, of Ontonagon, died Thursday, June 11, 1998. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, June 19th, at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Greenland.

Josephine (Ziola) Liimatainen, 76, of South Range, died on Wednesday, June 10, 1998. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 15, 1998, at the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range. She is survived by her husband Albo "Bubba". and one brother Henry Ziola of Detroit.

Tharon E.(Korpela) Stromer, 78, a resident of Lakeshore Drive, Chassell, passed away Wednesday morning, June 19, 1998, at her home. Funeral services were Friday, June 12, 1998 at the ld Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock. Surviving are her husband, Ralph; one daughter, Marlene Hawkins of Detroit; eight sons, Leonard of Chassell, Michael of Hancock, Richard of Farmington, MN, Daniel of Chassell, Gary of Chassel, Dale of Munising, Jeffery of Laurium, Roger of Hancock, 42 grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Leslie A. "Lekku" Pakkala, 78, of Baltic, died, unexpectedly on Monday, June 8 1998. Surviving are his wife, Helen; two sons, Geralt of Dryden, Peter of South Randg; two daughters, Nancy Szczepanski of Canton, MI, Susan Roth of South Range; fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Helen Bylkas, 66, of Jasberg Street, Hancock, died Saturday, June 6, 1998. She is survived by one brother, Ernest of Esko, Minn.

A memorial service for Ernest D. Cummings, 79, of Sidnaw who died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at the Veteran's Administratin Hospital in Iron Mountain after a long illness, will be held at 2 PM Saturday, June 13, 1998 at the Sidnaw United Methodist Church.

Wendy Wickstrom, 20,of Laurium and a student at NMU died as the result of a bicyle accident in Marquette County, Sunday, June 7, 1998. She is survived by her father, Marshall Wickstrom of Laurium; her mother Lynne Budreau of Laurium; a brother Elliot of Enid, OK, ; a stepsister, TeriLynne Budreau of Laurium. Interment in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.

Toivo J. Laho, 78, Baraga, died Saturday, June 6, 1998. Private funeral services were held at the Alston Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Eli Salo, 79, Chassell, passed away Saturday, June 6, 1998. Funeral service Wednesday, June 10, 1998,11 AM, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell. Surviving are his wife Mildred and two sons, Dennis Salo of Chassell and Donald Salo of Broemer Road.
