He was the manager of Bakers Shoe Store at the Summit Place Mall for many years and was a veteran of the United States Army. WILLIS E. 'BILL' SHIELDS
SHIELDS, WILLIS E. BILL; of Waterford; died November 10, 1999 at his residence; born March 10, 1925 in Cheboygan, MI; age 74; beloved husband of Lois Shields for 46 years, who he married April 25, 1953; dear father of Lorna (Bob) Sayles of Waterford; grandfather of Nathan Prater and Dylan Sayles, who lovingly called him Papa; brother of Shirley Coke of Hazel Park and Joe (Judy) Shields of Fenton. Mr. Shields was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army under General Patton. He was a skilled machine repairman and a jack of all trades, always willing to lend a helping hand until he suffered a massive stroke in August of 1992. He will be greatly missed by many loving relatives and friends. SWALLOW, ROBERT C. BOB; age 78; of St. Petersburg, FL; died Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at home; born in Alpena, MI, he moved to St. Petersburg eight years ago from Oxford, MI. He retired in 1987 as Owner and Operator of Rochester Gear Machine in Rochester, MN after 42 years. He served in the army as Staff Sergeant during WWII and received the Purple Heart. He was Lutheran and a member of the DAV and VFW. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth; two daughters, Cristie Lewis, Plymouth, MN and Jan Swallow, St. Petersburg, FL; son, Peter Lewis, Plymouth, MN; two sisters, Dorothy Sabourin, Cheyenne, WY and Mabel Jury, Alpena, MI; and two grandchildren, Kevi and Michael Carroll, both of Plymouth, MN. SMITH, MARJORIE ELAINE (DICKMAN); born January 26, 1924; entered eternal life to be with the Lord on December 14, 1999; she is preceded in death by her late husband Harry Smith and special granddaughter Akita Ervin. She was with her two youngest children James Ervin (Angela), Diana Ervin (Gregory England) and two gifted granddaughters Ameshia Ervin and Miranda England whom were by her side until the Lord called her home. She also has another special granddaughter Jamie Read; also survived by Harry Smith Jr. and family; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; she is survived by a host of friends and two other sons, Larry LeClear and Donald Rose. Andrzejewski on July 22, 1910 in Posen to Andrew and Julia (Kopcha) Andrzejewski. In 1927 she married Joseph Shubert at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen. He preceded her in death in April 1968. Mrs. Shubert had lived in Pontiac from 1957 1979 and was the manager of the West Side Lanes Restaurant in Pontiac from 1962 until 1978. She is survived by son, Norbert of Clarkston; daughters, Rose Chaput of West Bloomfield, Theresa (Frank) Ravitz of Alpena and Joann (Dale) Huggler of Alpena; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters; son-in-law, Damien Budnick and daughter-in-law, Eloise Shubert; preceding her in death were son, George; daughter, Marie Budnick; two sisters; and two brothers. Mrs. Shubert is at the Bannan Funeral Home, where friends may call on Friday from 2-9 p.m., where a Parish Prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. On Saturday, her body will be taken to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m., with Rev. Kenneth Stachnik officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials to Hospice of Michigan.

MARTHA E. SNYDER
SNYDER, MARTHA E.; age 57; of Rochester Hills, MI; died Thursday, January 27, 2000 at William Beaumont Hospital, Troy. She was born October 22, 1942 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Ronald Melvin and Ethel May (Davison) Dodds. On October 8, 1966 she married James F. Snyder in Dearborn, MI. She was a member of National Campers and Hikers Association and Sterling Heights Genealogical and Historical Society, Inc. She also participated in Neighborhood Watch at Chateau Avon. Mrs. Snyder is survived by her husband, James; two sons, Kenneth of San Jose, CA and Sean of Oak Park; two step-sisters, Kunnie (Clay) Briggs of Irving, TX and Margaret Walker of Denver, CO. Religious services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday from DIENER FUNERAL HOME, 48271 Van Dyke, Utica. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-9 p.m. and Monday, 1-9 p.m. Interment will be in Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak.
