Michigan formerly of Flint, died Wednesday March 7, 2001 at Hayes- Green- Beach Hospital in Charlotte, Michigan at 2:30 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home 9-9:00 pm Saturday and 9-9:00 pm Sunday and at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to South Cochran Church of God in Charlotte, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reid and Jennie ( Horner) Burger. He married Maxine Burgess April 23, 1949. She preceded him in death June 28, 1999. Prior to his retirement he had been employed at Chevrolet Mfg. for 22 years. He is survived by : son Hugh and wife Sharie Burger of Charlotte, Michigan; 7 grandchildren: 3 great grandchildren: brother: Nile and wife Helen Burger of Burton. He was also preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother.
John Kayanek
Age 72 of Mt. Morris died Tuesday March 6, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Friday at Miles Martin Funeral Home. With Rev. Butch Martin officiating. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends Wednesday 6-9, Thursday 1-9. John was born January 29,1929 in Owosso the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Cecelia (Jubik) Kayanek. John retired from Buick Motor Division in 1991 with 25 years of service. He enjoyed Bingo, the Casinos, and watching sports on T.V. Surviving are son; John M. and wife Peggy Sue Kayanek of Flushing; Life time companion Evelyn Cutcher of Mt. Morris; grandson: Jeffrey John; sister: Mary Melrose of FL.; Nephew Don Cutcher; nieces Genevieve Gibson; Jacqueline and husband David Perez, Beverly Groulx, Darlene and husband Jackie Richardson; numerous nieces and nephews preceded in death by wife Gladys, brothers Frank, Joe and Steve, and sisters Helen and Veronica.
Gail Winton Pollard
Age 82 of Mt. Morris, died Friday March 03, 2001 at Hurley Medical Center. Cremation has take place. There will be no visitation or Memorial Service. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Masonic Home in Alma or the donors favorite charity. Gail was born January 17, 1919 in Moberly, Missouri; 5 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Charles.
Stanley "Stosh" Phillips
Age 74, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, March 2, 2001 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday March 6, 2001 from the Miles Martin Funeral Home. Pastor Polk officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park with Graveside military honors by the VFW Post #4087-Davison. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends from 6-9pm Sunday and all day Monday. Stanley was born January 10, 1927 the son of Mr. & Mrs. Albert and Antonia (Biala) Phillips. He and Violet M. Brewer were united in marriage in January, 1980. He worked as a General Supervisor for GM in quality control-Coldwater Rd. plant. He enjoyed golf, fishing, reading, walking, playing cards, shooting pool, race tracks, sports, and enjoyed life. Mr. Phillips was a member of the Davison VFW Post # 4087 and the American Legion #64-Flint, FOE # 629, was a life member of the Dom Polski, and the Calvary Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife: Violet Phillips of Mt. Morris; daughter: Barbara Ann Lambert of Grand Blanc; daughter: Susan Marie and husband Michael Quinn of Flint; son: William Albert Phillips of Flint; step child: David Risdon of Harrisville; stepchild: Sharlene and husband Leonard Atkinson of Afton; Several grandchildren & great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Frank Phillips; Jan Leifheit; Ann Alexander; Albert Phillips; Virginia Defrenn; Genevieve Veirs; Stella Bila. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers and sisters.
