WALTER R. GRIESING JR.
Mr. Walter R. Griesing Jr. of Millington, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at his residence. He was 74 years of age.
Mr. Griesing was born on August 8, 1927 in Flint, the son of Walter R. Sr. and Caroline (Pospesil) Griesing. On August 20, 1956 he married Betty J. Horton and together they celebrated 45 years of marriage. Mr. Griesing retired in 1986 after 38 years with AC Spark Plug, Delphi Automotive Systems in Flint. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Vassar, where he served on the Missionary Committee and as an usher. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Conrad Wagner Keene Post #164 of Millington.
Surviving is his family, wife, Betty; five children and their spouses, Abey Lin of San Diego, Illinois, formerly of Valparaiso, Indiana, Evelyn (Jack) Long of Mayville; sons, Lawrence (June) Rakoczy of Crete, Illinois, Mel (Renee) Rakoczy of McHenry, Illinois; brother, Ralph Draper of Marion, West Virginia; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mildred (Faye) McClellan-Draper Long; two brothers, Henry Draper of Lincoln Park, Charles Draper of Marlette; and stepsister, Margaret Jacot-Long.
Funeral service was held Friday, May 10, 2002 at Hanlin Funeral Home, Millington with burial at the Millington Township Cemetery. Pastor Dale Mitchell officiated.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
HARRY GERMAIN JR.
Mr. Harry Germain Jr. of Vassar died on Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the Frankenmuth Care Center. He was 76 years of age.
Mr. Germain was born in Tuscola County the son of Harry Sr. and Lillian (Ennest) Germain. On October 8, 1944 he married Maxine Legue and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage.
Mr. Germain was employed at Flint's Fisher Body General Motors Plant on Coldwater Road for 31 years and retired in 1991. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Mr. Germain was a member of Chapel Hill Assembly of God Church in Vassar. He was a lifelong Vassar resident. He enjoyed hunting and and fishing and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending their many activities and sporting events.
Mr. Germain is survived by his wife Maxine; daughter and son-in-law Diana and Roy Volz, son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Crystal Germain of Birch Run; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two former daughter-in-laws, Rose and Penny; one brother, Clinton Germain of Vassar; half sister, Betty Cyr of St. Helen; very special friends Larry and Betty Gillman of Vassar; several nieces and nephews; and extended family.
Mr. Germain was preceded in death by a son Gary in 1997, a grandson Glenn Michael (Mike) Volz, and a sister Violet.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Chapel Hill Assembly of God Church in Vassar with Pastor Wally Reames officiating. Interment was in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw.
Memorials may be directed to Chapel Hill Assembly of God Church or the Frankenmuth Care Center.

HARRISON J. HALL
Mr. Harrison J. Hall "Stub" of Millington, formerly of Davison, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Maplewood Manor in Vienna Township. He was 80 years of age.
Mr. Harrison was born on May 9, 1921 in Flint, the son of Elmer and Lenore (Peorise) Hall. In 1960 he married Evelyn Ward and together they celebrated 35 years of marriage before her passing in 1995.
Mr. Harrison was employed in the water treatment plant at Buick Motor Division in Flint where he retired in 1982 after 42 years. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 599. He moved to Millington after residing in Davison for the past 40 years. He was an accomplished pilot, loved to hunt and fish, and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of the Bull Dog Riders Motorcycle Club.
Surviving is his family, six children and their spouses, Wade and Betty Ward of Millington, Sharon and Lyle Palaghe of Saginaw, Robert and Karen Ward, Kathy and John Narsted, Dale and Reggie Ward, all of Millington, Colleen and Mark Goodar of Davison; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Butch and wife Sandy Hall of the Long Lake/Oscoda area; five sisters and their husbands, Shirley and Norm Howard of Mt. Morris, Donna and Vern Albert of the Oscoda area, Barbara and Ivan Petrosky of the Mt. Morris area, Louise and Kenny Hodge of Michigan, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at the Frankenmuth Lutheran Home. She was 90 years of age.
Mrs. McKee was born on May 16, 1911 in Gagetown, the daughter of William and Ada (Dalby) Howell. In September of 1929 she married Omer C. McKee and together they celebrated 72 years of marriage. She moved to Vassar from Turner in 1992. She was active with her church, Turner Free Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was church treasurer.
Surviving is her family, husband, Omer; three children and their spouses, Gertrude and John Martin of Vassar, Alton and Helen McKee of Linden, Nancy and Bob (Robert) Davis of Porter, Indiana; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Olson and Goldie Middaugh; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Howard; a sister, Pearl Reynolds; one great-granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 10, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Vassar. Burial followed at the Riverside Cemetery in Vassar. Pastors Douglas Stockwell and Cyril Haines officiated.
Memorials may be directed to the Frankenmuth Lutheran Home or charity of one's choice.
Arrangements were in the care of Hanlin Chapel for Funerals, Vassar.
FREDA T. TAYLOR
Mrs. Freda T. Taylor of Vassar, died Saturday, April 27, 2002 at home. She was 95 years of age.
Mrs. Taylor was born on June 25, 1906 in Vassar where she was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of Fred and Martha (Buckle) Wilber. She married R.J. Kennard in Caro. He preceded her in death in 1966. She was a charter member of the Vassar Federation of Eagles Auxiliary #2380.
Surviving is her family, children and their spouses, Ester and Audrey Goodell of Mayville, Anna Mae and Al Sargent, Alfred and Mary Jane Kennard, Raymond and Dolores Kennard, Margie Atkinson, all of Vassar; 33 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Deloris McGill.
She was preceded in death by a son, Melfred Ray Kennard, two brothers and seven sisters.
A memorial celebration of Mrs. Taylor's life was held Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at the Vassar F.O.E. hall. Dinner followed. Cremation was Mrs. Taylor's wish.
Memorials may be directed to either the Visiting Nurses Association or the F.O.E. of Vassar.
