Rachel is survived by her parents, sister Hannah, brothers Benjamin and Jamison, grandparents Mary Wirth of St. Cloud, WI and Lawrence and Eva Mousel of Eau Claire, WI. Mass of the Angels will be at 11:00 AM Saturday November 24, 2001 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM before the mass at the church on Saturday. SKLAROV, ANNA, OF NO. MIAMI BEACH, FL DIED 11-16-2001

Anna (nee: Linehan) Sklarov, age 80 of No. Miami Beach, FL and formerly of rural Hudson died on November 16, 2001 in Pembroke Pines, FL. She was born on May 1, 1921 in Hudson, WI the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Schweigal) Linehan. She received her education in River Falls. After high school, she worked for the U. S. Government assembling airplane parts during the war. She then, held various jobs in the Chicago area before her marriage to Edward Sklarov in December of 1949 in Chicago. She was a homemaker all her life while raising their family and working on the farm. She was devoted to her church, family and friends. They enjoyed traveling throughout the world. Survived by her daughter Diane Sklarov-Blandino (Gary Blandino) of Plantation, FL. She was preceded in death by husband Edward, parents, sisters Elizabeth Blankenship, Katherine Warner, brothers William, Frederic and Thomas Linehan. Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday November 21 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Visitation was Tuesday November 20 from 5 to 7 PM at O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. Interment was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Hudson with family members as active casketbearers. Erickson, Selma age 97 of Woodville died Monday November 12, 2001

Selma Bertilda Erickson, age 97 of Woodville and formerly Baldwin died early Monday morning, November 12, 2001 at the Parkview Nursing Home. Selma was born on January 5, 1904 in Eau Galle Township, the daughter of Christian and Emma (Eliason) Nelson. She was one of eight children; Julius, Elmer, Alfred, Esther, Sandra, Ruth, and Rose. Selma grew up on the farm where she worked and played. She received her education from the Riverside School. Through sisters, Selma would meet and later would marry Carl Erickson on April 26, 1924 in Baldwin, Wisconsin. They moved seven miles away from her home where they farmed until 1976, when they moved into the Village of Baldwin. Selma was a homemaker helping raise their three children; Everett, Donald, and Dale. Carl would precede her in death in 1982. In 1988, Selma sold her home in Baldwin and moved to an apartment in Baldwin prior to becoming a resident of Parkview in Woodville. Selma was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she served on the ladie’s Guild and helped wherever she could. Visiting, sewing, and crocheting where also enjoyable to her. She especially enjoyed the time spent visiting with her family. Selma is survived by her sons Everett (Frieda) Erickson of Baldwin, Dale (Joanne) Erickson of Arizona, daughter in-law Rozella Erickson of Baldwin, 6 grandchildren; Yvonne (Peter) Hince of Plum City, Steven Erickson of Clear Lake, Marsha Shafer of Roberts, Heidi (Jerry) Hansen of Illinois, Bruce (Jane) Erickson of Baldwin, and Daren Erickson of Arizona; 11 great grandchildren; Karen, Kelly, Denise, Chad, Kari, Todd, Tony, Nick, Elise, Jill, and Brice. She is preceded in death by her father 1919, mother, 1941, husband Carl in 1982, son Donald in 1987, infant grandson in 1951, three brothers, and four sisters. Funeral Services will be 2:00Pm Thursday, November 15, 2001 at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Officiating is Pastor John Hanson. Church organist will accompany congregational singing. HARRIS, JOHN AGE 55 OF HUDSON DIED NOV. 3, 2001

John E. Harris, age 55 of Hudson, WI died unexpectedly at his residence on November 3, 2001. John was born on July 6, 1946 in Plum City, WI, the son of Elwyn and Betty (Weiss) Harris. He attended Rock grade school in Elm, WI and graduated from Elmwood high school in Elmwood, WI. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force from June 11, 1964 to June 10, 1968 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Airman First Class. He was married first to Betty Novotney in 1964 in Menomonie, WI, which ended in divorce in 1971. He then, married Carlene ( Unser) on December 4, 1971 in Stillwater, MN. He was a mason by trade in the Hudson area. He worked for Harwell Masonry and then, was self-employed in the Hudson area. He was a gifted artist. He created many detailed, freehand pencil and pen drawings. He also enjoyed working with leather and metal creating artwork. John is survived by his wife Carlene Harris of Hudson, daughter Brenda (Paul) Laursen of Whitehall, WI., son Tim Harris of Phoenix, AZ., Mother Betty Harris of Elmwood, WI., Brother Wayne (Tracee) Harris of Modesto, CA., and sister Marie (Jim) Gauvin of Roanoke, VA. Funeral services will be Wednesday Nov. 7th at 11:00 AM at the Rock Elm United Methodist Church in Elmwood, WI with Pastor Reverend Sandra Hamilton officiating, organist Mary Husby. Visitation will be Monday Nov. 5th from 5:00-7:00 PM at O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson and Tuesday Nov. 6th from 5:00-8:00 PM at Riehl Funeral Home in Elmwood, WI. SMITH, PAMELA AGE 49 OF HUDSON DIED OCTOBER 29, 2001

Pamela K. Smith age 49 of Croixview Apts. in Hudson, WI died at Regions Hospital in St. Paul on October 29, 2001. She was born on July 8, 1952 in Eau Claire, WI the daughter of Harold and Lorraine (Boehlke) Smith Pamela Smith is survived by her sister Judy Lynn (Jon) Arneson of Stevens Point, WI, niece Jennie Arneson of Milwaukee, WI and nephew Kristopher Arneson of Madison, WI. Funeral services will be Saturday November 3, 2001 at 10:30 AM at First Pentecostal Church in Hudson. Visitation will be Friday November 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at First Pentecostal Church. WIKKERINK, ARNOLD AGE 91 OF GLENWOOD CITY, FORMERLY OF BALDWIN, DIED SATURDAY, November 10, 2001

Arnold Wikkerink, age 91 of Glenwood City and formerly of Baldwin, died early Saturday morning, November 10, 2001 at the Baldwin Care Center where he had been a patient since August of this year. Arnold was born on October 30, 1910 in Erin Prairie, Wisconsin; the son of William and Hattie (Donkersgoed) Wikkerink. He received his education from the Lincoln School and Liberty School in Erin Prairie. At the age of eleven, Arnold and his family moved to Hammond Township where the Wikkerink family farmed for several years on the Donkersgoed Farmstead. On August 18, 1939, Arnold was united in marriage to Hudsonite Agnes Clara Carlson at her parent’s home in Hudson. Their home became part of the Willow River State Park. This union would be blessed with six children; Judy, Bernard, Betty, Virginia, Sandy, and Bonnie. Arnold enjoyed working the land. He cattle farmed in Baldwin Township until 1988 when he retired from farming. Following his retirement, he moved to Glenwood City, where he lived with his daughter Bonny and son-in-law Bill. Arnold enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was mechanically inclined as he could fix most anything and was a good welder. He also liked reading sporting articles and antiques. Those who knew Arnold appreciated his dry and witty sense of humor. Arnold is survived by his children Judith (Larry) Newman of Menomonee Falls, WI., Bernard (Carol) Wikkerink of Baldwin, Betty (Glen) Beck of Plymouth, MN., Virginia (Doug) Belland of Eden Prairie, MN., Sandy (Robert) Rutkas of Yorkville, ILL., Bonnie (Bill) McCluskey of Glenwood City, 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and sister Ethel VandeBerg of Baldwin. He is preceded in death by his wife Agnes in 1977, brother Egbert, sisters Anna Wikkerink, Helen VanSomeren, Alice Brasser, and Jeanette Fern. Funeral service for Arnold Wikkerink will be 11:00AM Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Baldwin. Officiating is Pastor Richard Knowles. Organist Paul Willink accompanied vocalist Deb Willink. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Randy Newman, Greg Newman, Timothy Newman, Dan McConnell, Dave Moline, and Steven McCluskey. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 until 8PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred. O'Connell, Daniel J. age 39 of Hudson, Died February 5, 2002

Daniel “Dan” Joseph O’Connell age 39 of Hudson, long time community activist and funeral director of O’Connell Family Funeral Homes of Hudson and Baldwin was killed Tuesday, February 5, 2002 in Hudson at the very business which he devoted his life to others. Dan was born February 23, 1962, in St. Paul, MN; the son of Thomas P. and Janet M. (Smisek) O’Connell. He attended elementary school at St. Patricks in Hudson and the Hudson Middle School. He graduated Hudson High School in 1981. While a senior in High School, Dan completed his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) degree at 916 Votech in White Bear Lake, MN. Dan then began his long career in emergency medicine beginning with the Hudson ambulance service. Dan served as a EMT and most recently as Director of St. Croix EMS (Hudson Ambulance). During this time, Dan began his secondary schooling at the University of Wisconsin River Falls to pursue his degree in Mortuary Science. In 1992, Dan graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota Mortuary Science Section with a 4.0 grade point average. In 1984, Dan began his career with Health One Transportation and Lakeview Hospital as a 911 Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic. In 1998, Dan retired from HealthSpan Ambulance service to concentrate his efforts in the family funeral business. Dan’s devotion to helping others brought him back to the ambulance service in 2001, when he worked casually for Lakeview Ambulance Service. On October 22, 1988, he was united in marriage to Jennie Jo McKnight at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Stillwater, MN. This union was blessed with two children whom held a special place in his heart; Kyle and Kaitlyn. Dan’s commitment to the community went far beyond emergency medicine. Dan served was an active member of the Hudson Chamber of Commerce where he served on various committees, such as the Ambassador Committee. He was also an active member of the Noon-Time International Rotary Club of Hudson and Knights of Columbus of St. Patricks. Many knew Dan through his intensive involvement with the Pepper Festival of North Hudson. Dan took great pride in helping coordinate the well renowned Italian food for the Pepper Festival. He took great pleasure in serving as past Pepper Fest King, the parades and pepper/spaghetti eating contests which came with this title. Dan was also an active member for the Hudson Booster Club, assisting with various projects with children of Hudson. Dan played an active role in fundraising for the Boy Scouts of America and the YMCA of Hudson. Dan’s dedication to families with the funeral service brought him to be a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association. He was recognized with the Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities along with the Golden Key National Honor Society. Many knew Dan through his efforts to console others through funeral service. Dan sacrificed his time to assure others received his fullest attention. Dan always put others needs before his own. Most recently, Dan coordinated the 911 Relief, Spaghetti dinner fundraiser in efforts to help raise funds for those who gave up their lives on the New York Fire, Police, and Ambulance departments. Dan was very proud that he and his family fed over 2200 people and raised over $25, 0000 in these efforts. Dan played an instrumental role in the recent national award (Pursuit of Excellence Award) which recognized the O’Connell Family Funeral Homes commitment and involvement to the communities they served. Although Dan cherished his work, his greatest love of life was his family and children, who he was so very proud of. Dan never missed a school program, ball game, or dance recitals. This past week, he was proud to address Kyle’s class on muscles and bones and as EMT. Kyle and Kaitlyn were always proud of their dad when he would bring the ambulance for tours and talks. Dan leaves to celebrate his life his wife Jennie Jo, children Kyle and Kaitlyn, parents Thomas and Janet O’Connell of Hudson, brothers Thomas and Carol O’Connell of Cross Plains, WI., Michael and Carla O’Connell of Baldwin, sister Kathleen O’Connell of Hudson, grandmother Erma O’Connell of Hudson, in-laws William (Helen) McKnight of Stillwater, MN; sister-in-law Marilyn (Paul) Omelianchuk of New Brighton, MN; Sandy (Dave) Lennander of Eau Claire, WI.; Terry (Scotty) McKnight of Greenwood, AR; Molly (Eric) Barth of White Bear Lake, MN., as well as several nieces, nephews, and countless friends. His grandfathers Elmer Smisek, Richard O’Connell, grandmother Elsie Smisek precede him in death. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00AM Saturday, February 9, 2002 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Father Peter Szleszinski is to officiate with Father James Dabruzzi, Father Ryan Erickson, and Father Tom Thompson to con-concelebrate. Several Pastors from many local churches will be present in assisting the mass as honorary celebrates, as Dan worked so very close with them in helping other families through their difficult times. Music was provided by the St. Patrick’s Praise Choir, Susan Healy, and Kris Peterson. Burial will be in the St. Patrick’s Catholic cemetery with active casket bearers being Dan Klatt, Troy Klatt, Mark Hedin, Nick Lardoni, Pete Vanasse, Bruce Nerby, Mark Hable, Tim Mulvihill, and Glen Mulvihill. The numerous ambulance, fire, and police departments from Western Wisconsin and the Twin Cities serve as honorary casket bearers. A tribute for his dedication and commitment to public service will be offered by close friend Nan Clements, who serves as a special honorary casket bearer. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 until 8PM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Memorials maybe directed to local banks where a scholarship fund has been established in Kyle and Kaitlyn’s name. Although our hearts are heavy, Dan’s funeral mass was coordinated by his father Tom and brother Mike as a special tribute to him and his unselfish commitment to them and their family business. Schuchman, Herman, 79 of Hudson, Died February 6, 2002.

Herman Schuchman, 79 of Hudson, died February 6, 2002. He was preceded in death by his sister Ida Golden of Van Nuys, California. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, son David (Kathy), daughters, Lisa (Marcee Hanan) and Gina, and six grandchildren whom he adorded: Noah, Daniel, Madeleine, Jacob, Samantha, and Peter. Herman was loved intensly by many and will be sorely missed. There will be a memorial serive on Thursday February 21, at 4:00 PM at the Historic Washington County Courthouse, in Stillwater, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Center for Victims of Torture, 717 East River Road, Minneapolis, MN 55455; Walk in Couseling Clinic, 2421 Chicago, Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55404; or the Hudson Hospital Building Fund, 400 Wisconsin Street, Hudson, WI 54016. Rudesill, Louise Ernestine, age 80 of Hammond died Friday, February 1, 2002.

Louise Ernestine Rudesill, age 80 of Hammond died Friday, February 1, 2002 at the American Heritage Nursing Home in Hammond. Louise was born on March 17, 1921 in Deer Park; the daughter of Emil and Emily (Jabuch) Gust. She received her elementary education in Deer Park and graduated from Amery High School. Following this, she furthered her education at the Business College in St. Paul. Following her schooling, she began working at the State Bank of Deer Park. In 1942, she was married to Willard “Bob” Swanson. Three sons were born to this marriage, Wayne, Ted, and David. Bob would precede her in death in March of 1987. Louise was a homemaker as her children grew up but would return to banking. She worked for twenty years at the Hammond State Bank as a cashier. In 1991, Louise was married to Gordon Rudesill. Gordon would also precede her in death in 1995. Louise had a gift and love for music. Her love for music was passed on to her children, as she encouraged and supported them, as well as neighbor children, to expand their gift of music. Her greatest love came from spending time with her family as she was always looking out for their best interests. Many knew Louise to be hospitable, genuine, and a special lady. She was a past member of the American Heritage Auxiliary and the Hammond American Legion Auxiliary. Louise is survived by her children Wayne (Suzie) Swanson of Hawaii, Ted (Claudia) Swanson of California, David “Swanee” (Patty) Swanson of New Richmond, step-children Gayle Lee of Baldwin, Debbie (Dan) Jalowitz of Hammond, Shelley (Dave) Johnson of Ellsworth, Cindy (Bob) Campbell of Baldwin, Douglas (Suzie) Rudesill of River Falls, Craig (Debbie) Rudesill of Maplewood, MN., 9 grandchildren, 18 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, brothers Herbert (Evelyn) Gust of New Richmond, Orville (Lucille) Gust of Deer Park, sister Margaret (Howard) Krueger of Star Prairie, and Helen Barnum of Florida. She is preceded in death by her husbands Gordon and Willard, and infant daughter Katherine. Funeral service for Louise Rudesill will be 1:00PM Monday, February 4, 2002 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Officiating will be Pastor Norris Erdal. Organist was Michele Lee. Music was played by Mike and John Murtha. Burial will be in the Calvary cemetery in Deer Park with Louise’s family as casketbearers. Memorials are preferred.
