Winifred Woltmann Netherly, age 92 of Afton died Monday Feb. 2, 2004. Preceded by husband of 56 years, 3M Scientist George P. Netherly. Survived by son and daughter-in-law Samuel and Dawne Netherly, and granddaughters Lindsey Marion and Alexandra Emily. Funeral services for Winifred Netherly will be 12:00 noon Friday, Feb. 6 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hudson. No visitation. Burial in Afton Evergreen Cemetery. Rode, Jeannette age 66 of Maplewood died January 29.

Jeannette Rode age 66 of Maplewood, Minnesota died Jan. 29, 2004 at her residence. Jeannette was born December 17, 1937 in St. Paul; the daughter of Harvey and Dorothy (Bubar) McCluney. She attended Ames Grade School and Harding High in St. Paul. She was united in marriage to her best friend Hubert Rode on August 18, 1956 at St. John’s Church, St. Paul. This union was blessed with children Cheryl, Bill, and Bob. She devoted her life to her family and they treasured every moment with her. She lived for her family and Cherished her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed swimming, needlework, gardening, traveling, and home decorating. She leaves to celebrate her life husband Hubert, children Cheryl (Rob) Zimbrick, Richmond, KY, Bill (Janet) Rode, Hudson, WI, Bob (Robyn) Rode, Wasilla, AK, grandchildren Jake, Nick, Alex, Cortney, Ashley. Celebration of Life will be 11AM Monday. Feb. 2nd at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 So. 11th St. Hudson, WI. Private interment will be in the Elmhurst Cemetery, St. Paul. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11AM prior to service at O’Connell’s.

Dumond, Arlen age 48 of Red Wing died January 28.

Arlen Dale Dumond age 48 of Red Wing and formerly of Hammond died Wednesday January 28, 2004 at the Fairview Hospital in Red Wing. Arlen was born on September 7, 1955 at the Baldwin Hospital; the son of Dale and Delores (Ramberg) Dumond. He received his schooling at St. Croix Central School in Hammond. Following school, he worked as a nurse’s assistant for the American Heritage Care Center. Later, he would work for Iowa Pork Industries in Minnesota. On April 10, 1981, he was united in marriage to Diane Lynn Mickelson in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This union would be blessed with children Ryan and Rochelle. In 1983, a terrible accident forever changed their family. Arlen was left severely disabled and required around the clock medical assistance as he has lived at the Redwing Health Care Center since the accident. Although he couldn’t speak, he would share a smile in appreciation for his families continued support and love. Prior to the accident, Arlen loved the outdoors; especially hunting and canoeing. He also enjoyed country western music and cooking. He was also a talented artist who enjoyed drawing and glass painting. Arlen is loved by his family; daughter Rochelle (fiancé James Shearer) Dumond of Hammond, granddaughter Taylor Gedatus, mother Delores Dumond of Hammond, sisters Linda Dumond of Hammond, Wanda Dumond of Baldwin, brothers Bruce Dumond of Hammond, Greg (Heidi) Dumond of Baldwin, former wife Diane Lee of Baldwin, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Arlen joins his father Dale (1987) and son Ryan (1983) with our Lord in Heaven. Funeral service was 1:00PM Saturday January 31st, 2004 at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin with Pastor John Hanson officiating and Julie Hanson playing the organ. Burial was in the Hammond cemetery with casketbearers being Jerry Dumond, Tim Ramberg, Tom Ramberg, Gary Boldt, Gary Newton, and Terry Weiss. Visitation was held on Friday from 4PM until 7Pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin.

Schneider, Colleen age 72 of Hudson died January 27.

Colleen (nee Connell) Schneider, age 72, of Hudson, died Tuesday January 27, 2004 at the Hudson Hospital. Colleen was born November 22, 1931 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin the daughter of William and Marjorie Connell. She was a student in Dunn County country school, graduated for Menominee High School and attended Lawrence College. Colleen was married to George Schneider on September 3, 1950 at the Episcopal Church in Stillwater, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with four daughters. Colleen was an active member of the Eastern Star, enjoyed the Hudson Garden Club and volunteering for the Blood Mobile. She treasured reading and visiting with friends and family. Colleen is survived by her daughters Kathleen Crawford of Hudson, Marjorie (Mark) Andrea of Spooner, Susan (James) Obermueller of Hudson and Beth (Greg Kaasa) Schneider of Hudson, her grandchildren Christopher and Stephen Crawford, Gina and Jennifer Andrea, Stacy and Michael Obermueller, Jacqueline and Mackenzie Kaasa, her brother Thomas (Janet) Connell of Florida, brother-in-laws David (Susan) Coons of Neenah, Peter (Dorothy) Schneider of Wisconsin Rapids, Phillip (Joan) Schneider of River Falls. She is preceded in death by her husband George and her parents William and Marjorie. A memorial service will be held 12 Noon on Friday January 30, 2004 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hudson. A visitation will be from 10-12 before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.

Hancock, Eldo age 65 of Roberts died April 1.
Eldo Dale Hancock, age 65 a well known business man in the Roberts, WI area, died Thursday April 1, 2004 at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis. Eldo was born in Alden Township on May 29, 1938 the son of Waldo and Beatrice (Smith) Hancock. He was baptized and confirmed in the Star Prairie Covenant Church. As a child he attended the Wagon Landing Grade School in rural Osceola, WI and later Osceola High School. During high school Eldo enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served for 8 years. Whiled stationed in Long Beach, CA Eldo met Rosemary E. Meyer at an amusement park. The couple fell in love and was married 4 months later on Nov. 14, 1964 in Norwalk, CA. After his discharge from the service the couple settled in Wisconsin. Using the skills he learned in the Navy, Eldo taught welding at WITC in New Richmond and later opened Hancock Welding and Repair and Hancock Pre-Fabricating Steel Sales in Roberts. Eldo was loved by all and had a true love for life; he was known to say, “Every day is a holiday and every meal is a banquet”. He treasured his children, Tom, John, daughter-in-law Lorraine and adored his beautiful granddaughters Alisha and Amara. Eldo always found time for fishing and snowmobiling. He filled everyone’s life with stories and jokes and had a tremendous laugh that could be heard for miles around. Eldo will be greatly missed by his loving wife Rosemary of 39 years, his sons Tom Hancock and John (Lorraine) Hancock of Roberts, his beloved grandchildren Alisha and Amara Hancock, his special niece Danielle Meyer of Augusta, Maine, his mother Beatrice Hancock Walby of Dresser, WI, his sister Marjorie (Ronald) Lambert of Dresser, WI, his brother Wayne Hancock (friend Rebecca Rogers) of Dresser, WI, his nephew Philip Weaver of Roberts, his niece Lori Waalen of Osceola, WI, his great nephews Steven Jr., Jason and Ryan, his Aunt Jessie May of Warroad, MN, and many great friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his father Waldo and his uncles Ralph and Carl.

A memorial service will be held in Eldo’s honor at 7 PM on Wednesday April 7, 2004 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI, Father Bradley of Immaculate Conception, New Richmond, WI. will officiate. Military honors will be presented by the New Richmond VFW post 10818. There will be a time of gathering from 5 until 7 PM at the funeral home. The O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson is in charge of arrangements.

Johnson, Neil age 74, formerly of Baldwin died February 18, 2004

Neil Otto Johnson, age 74, died February 18, 2004 at Munroe Regional Hospital, Ocala, Fla. Neil was born on August 7, 1929 at Baldwin, the son of Chris A. and Julia Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended Lincoln Grade School, Baldwin High School and Dunwoody Institute. On October 13, 1951 he was united in marriage to Elaine Rademaker. To this union were born two children: Kathy and Bruce. After serving two years in the Army, he received his Honorable Discharge in 1953. Neil was an operator and welder at Koch Refining, Pine Bend, Minn. for 38 years before retiring in 1994 and moving to Ocala from Inver Grove Heights, Minn. Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Bruce Allan Johnson. Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Elaine; daughter Kathy and husband Gerald Svihel of Hastings, Minn; one grandson, Christopher; sister, Grace Garlid and husband Bernard of Ocala; and one niece, Linda Radermacher of Kentwood, Mich.

A memorial service will be held at 7PM Tuesday April 6th, 2004 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin with Pastor Paul Lovestrand officiating. Interment will be in the Baldwin Cemetery. Memorials preferred. Visitation will be held from 5:30PM until the 7PM service time at O’Connell’s on Tuesday.

Baldwin, Willis, age 80 died early Tuesday morning March 30.

Willis “Bill” Charles Baldwin, age 80, of Hudson died early Tuesday morning in the Greely Health Care Center of Stillwater. Bill was born July 21, 1923 the son of Dayton Chandler and Ethel Ann (VanSistine) Baldwin in Green Bay, WI. He moved to North Dakota with his family and here he attended grade school and high school. He was also graduate of the University of North Dakota. Bill was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving in India. He married the former Maureen Dover on October 15, 1955 in Trenton, NJ. He loved golfing and sailing and was a member of the Lion’s Club in California and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Maureen; children, Bill (Patti), Tom, Jim all of San Diego, CA., Terri Ann (Allan) Niemotka of Boca Raton, Fl., David of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jeff of Hudson. His grandchildren, Brian, Kelly, Jordan and Joseph. A sister, Mary Crist of Pasadena, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dayton, Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial was 11 AM Saturday April 3 in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Fr. John Parr officiating. Visitation was from 9 AM until the hour of service in the church. Interment was in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were sons David, Bill, & Jeff, and son-in-law Allan Niemotka. Services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, Hudson. 715-386-3725.

Margaret Kruse age 96 of Hudson died Wednesday May 19, 2004 at Hudson Hospital.

Margaret Lucille Kruse, age 96, of Hudson died May 19, 2004 at the Hudson Hospital. Margaret was born on January 17, 1908 in Bath, South Dakota; the daughter of Mahlon and Laura (Plummer) Long. She was the oldest of two children and grew up on a farm in Bath, SD. As a high school student she would often ride her horse to school in Aberdeen, SD, the school in which she would graduate from. Margaret was united in Marriage to Henry Kruse on June 13, 1934. Their family was blessed with two daughters, Lorraine and Roxanna. In 1940 the family moved to Hudson from South Dakota. Henry would open Gambles Department Store with Margaret working by his side. Margaret enjoyed sewing quilts and baby things; she also knitted many beautiful afghans. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian women’s organizations. She loved to plays cards and spending time at the family cabin on Bone Lake. She was also known to be a better fisherman than her husband. Margaret is remembered by her daughters; Lorraine (Art) Vindal of Hudson, and Roxanna (Vern) Thompson of Corvalis, MT, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, a great great granddaughter, a great great grandson, her parents, and 7 siblings.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will take place at 2 PM on Wednesday June 2, 2004 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, Hudson. Pastor David Liddle of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. There will be a private family burial at a later date. A time of gathering will start at 1 PM until the time of the service. Memorials preferred to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund. The O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson has been entrusted with arrangements.

Bystron, Ronald age 62 of Woodville died May 22.

Ronald Bystrom age 62 of the Park Place Apartments in Woodville died Saturday morning May 22, 2004 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center.
