Lawrence N. Dahl

Lawrence N. Dahl age 84 of Cromwell, MN passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 8, 2006 at his home. He was born in Cromwell on April 25, 1922 to Peter and Minnie (Schone) Dahl.
Lawrence was a veteran of the US Army during WWII serving as a Medic. He loved hunting, fishing, and farming and also playing cribbage and throwing horseshoes.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 2000, his son Curtis in1998, and his grandson Craig in 1998.
He is survived by his children Joseph (Gail), Greg (Cheryl), Larry (Peggy), Pat (Jill), Tim (Barb) and Cindy (Lyle) Jokinen, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sisters and a brother Gladys Clark, Arnold (Marcella) and Doris (Don) Johnson, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday October 10, 2006 from 5 pm until 7 pm in the Handevidt Funeral Home 900 Washington Avenue, Cloquet and continue from 10 am until the 11 am Funeral Service in Cromwell United Methodist Church, West Highway 210, Cromwell, MN. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Cromwell with Military Honors accorded with the Carlton VFW Honor Guard.

Robert Thomas McKibbon

Robert Thomas McKibbon, age 81 of San Antonio, TX, formerly of Cromwell and Cloquet, passed away on September 6, 2007 in the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX.
He was born on April 6, 1926 in Atkinson, MN to Fred and Alexandria (Pellerin) McKibbon. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Potlatch in 1988 after 45 years. Robert enjoyed traveling and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna in 1991; brothers, Andrew, Billy, Clarence, Walter, Harry and Fredrick; sisters, Helen Johnson and Esther Korby.
Robert is survived by his children, Pamela (Gary) Polo of Esko, Kevin (Barbara) Adams of Cleveland, OH, Dolly (John) Wieczorek of South Bend, IN and Wendy (Karl Kroner) Crabtree of San Antonio, TX; 4 grandchildren, Adam Dickison, Patrick, Dustin and Amanda Crabtree; brother Russell of Cloquet; also many nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 from 5 – 8 pm in Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave., Cloquet. The visitation will continue on Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service also in the funeral home. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet. There will be a time of fellowship and lunch following the burial in the funeral home reception area.

Violet Elaine Goad

Violet Elaine Goad age 79 of Wrenshall, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2007 surrounded by her family. She was born in Ladysmith, WI, on March 25, 1928 to Vernon and Gerda (Anderson) Olson. She married Clifford Goad on June 19, 1946 in Blackhoof Township, Minnesota.
Violet worked at the Carlton Hardware Store and was the secretary at the Wrenshall School. She was Deacon at the Wrenshall Presbyterian Church where she sent out personal notes on behalf of the church to the members of the congregation. Violet enjoyed flowers and gardening and she especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clifford in 2005, sons Michael and Dale Goad, her parents, brothers Donald and Reynold Olson, a nephew Donny Olson and a brother-in-law, Howard Chapin.
Violet is survived by her children Darrel (LaNette) and Debra (Jan) Salo, 8 Grandchildren, Dylan (Nicole), Dustin, Chanelle (Tim) Jedneak, Meghan, Jeremy (Jessica), Sarah (Chris) Warren, Michael and Ryan, 9 great grandchildren, brothers Kenneth (Judy) Olson and Roy (Barb) Olson, sister Irene Chapin, sisters-in-law Fay Olson and Lois Olson, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be on Monday September 10, 2007 from 5 pm until 8 pm in the Handevidt Funeral Home 900 Washington Avenue, Cloquet. The visitation will continue on Tuesday September 11, 2007 from 12 noon until the 1 pm Funeral Service in Elim Lutheran Church, 2077 County Road 6, Blackhoof Township, MN. Interment will take place in the Elim Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Alvin F. Bittner, age 90 of Cloquet, passed away on September 15, 2007 in Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 3, 1917 to John and Mary (Gartner) Bittner in Calio, North Dakota. Al married Catherine Penner on November 23, 1943. He was a proud veteran of WWII, US Army, European Theater.
Al is survived by children: Jerry, Jim (Barb); granddaughter Kellie; sister Helen Shottenbauer; brothers Elmer (DeLoris), Ken (Josie), Leo (Lil); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from 4 – 7 pm in the Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Avenue, Cloquet and will continue on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am funeral service, also in the funeral home. Private interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Dwaine L. Bruchu, age 56 of McGregor passed away on September 22, 2007. He was born on July 17, 1951 in Stillwater, MN to Paul and Catherine (Kroening) Bruchu.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his significant other Roxanne Norton. Dwaine is survived by his sons Neal, Jeffrey and Steven; granddaughter Martina; brothers Keith and Ronald; sister Melody; nieces and nephews.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at later date.

Evan James Tiessen, age 19 of Sawyer passed away accidentally on October 10, 2007 in Sawyer, MN. He was born in Duluth, MN on November 3, 1987 to Glen Tiessen and Hope Copa.
Evan was an enrolled member of the Fond du Lac Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and dirt biking.
He was preceded in death by his mother Hope; brother Nathan; grandmother Katie Olson; and grandfather John Tiessen. Evan is survived by his father Glen (Amy); brothers and sisters, Starr (Scrub) Copa, Brooke (Jesus) Copa, Dylan Tiessen and Darrin (Beezy) Tiessen; 9 nieces and nephews; and many close friends including John Korby and other relatives.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 5:00 pm and will continue throughout the evening until the Traditional Service at 11:00 AM on Sunday, October 14, 2007 in the Sawyer Center, 3243 Moorhead Road, Sawyer, MN. Interment in Sawyer Cemetery, Sawyer, MN.
