THEODORE BUKOWSKI
Theodore Bukowski, 78, of Split Rock Township, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005, in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. Theodore grew up and attended school at Split Rock, working on his father's dairy farm. He is a Korean War Veteran, serving in Germany. Theodore was then employed at Conwed in Cloquet for a number of years before returning to the family dairy farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially spending time with his family and friends.
Theodore is preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; 3 sisters.
Theodore is survived by 2 brothers: Stanley (LuVerne) Bukowski of Duluth, and John (Erna) Bukowski of Milwaukee, WI; 2 sisters: Theresa (Clarence) Wojtkowiak of Duluth and Rosalie (Leslie) Leibsle of Milwaukee; brother-in-law, Jerome Tomczak of Kettle River; several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of famiy and friends was held on Monday, October 10, 2005, from 12 until the 1 p.m. Memorial Service in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Inurnment was in Sacred Heart National Cemetery, Silver Township, Carlton Co. Arrangements were with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

ROBERT ALLEN JORDE
Robert Allen Jorde, age 55, of So. St. Paul died accidentally on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at his beloved Moose Lake property.
Bob was born January 2, 1950, in Hayfield, MN, the son of Robert L. and Beverly (Gilman) Jorde. He grew up in Inver Grove Heights and graduated from the Rosemount High School in 1968.
He served in the US Army from 1969 to 1978.
In 1968 he began his long career with the Union Pacific Railroad as a bridge tender.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kath; dear children, Robert W. and Amee; beloved granddaughter, Cecelia; parents, Robert L. and Beverly; brother, William (Rosann); sisters: Becky (Darryl) Irwin, Brenda (Kevin) Rose, and Barbara (Bob) Thompson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends.
A Celebration of Bob's life was held on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Historic Fort Snelling Chapel. Friends gathered one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred.
Arrangements were with Twin Cities Cremation, St. Paul, MN, 651-645-1233.

THOMAS ALLEN SKOG
Thomas Allen Skog, 46, of Zimmerman, MN, died Monday, October 10, 2005, at North Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered in a motorcycle/vehicle accident.
Tom, son of Chester and Joan (Johnson) Skog, was born on November 27, 1958 in Sandstone, MN. He grew up at Sturgeon Lake, MN and graduated from high school at Willow River, MN. He was united in marriage with Julie Ann Peterson in 1976 in North Dakota. They made their home in Sturgeon Lake and then Moose Lake, where they operated a One Hour Photo Service. They moved to Rice Lake, WI, where Tom attended Tech School for Fiber Optics. They moved to Elk River, where Tom began working as a machinist. He began working for Eastey's Enterprises in Rogers, MN in May of 1997. They have lived in the Zimmerman (MN) area for over two years.
He is survived by his two sons: Derrick of Zimmerman and Matt of Becker; five grandchildren: Aaron, Alexis, Cecelia, Hayden and Elton; his parents, Chester and Joan Skog of Sturgeon Lake, MN; four brothers and five sisters: Tim (Julie) Skog of Denham, MN; Kay (Mike) Sutherland of Daytona, FL; Susan Trueblood of Daytona, FL; Becky (John) Mach of Morris, MN;, Johnny (Denise) Skog of Sturgeon Lake, MN; Penny (Gary) Youngberg of Sturgeon Lake, MN; Bill (Marcie) Skog of Moose Lake, MN; Amy (Nathan) Berg of Sturgeon Lake, MN and Jared (Amy) Skog of Sturgeon Lake, MN.
Tom was preceded in death by a brother, Clinton in 1959.
A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, October 13, 2005, at Williams-Hanson-Kaun, Princeton, MN.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 PM, Sunday, October 16, 2005, at the Hamlin-Hanson-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake, MN. (Williams-Hanson-Kaun, Princeton)

JULIE A. SKOG
Julie A. Skog, 45, of Zimmerman, MN, died Monday, October 10, 2005, in a motorcycle/vehicle accident near Santiago, MN.
Julie Ann Peterson, daughter of Elton Lloyd and Leona (Eisenbraun) Peterson, was born on December 20, 1959 in Princeton, MN. She was raised and educated at Princeton. She was united in marriage with Thomas Allen Skog in 1976 in North Dakota. They made their home in Sturgeon Lake, then at Moose Lake, MN, where they had the One Hour Photo Shop and she worked as a medical transcriptionist at the hospital. They moved to Rice Lake, WI, for a year and then to Elk River, MN in 1993. She began Special Touch Cleaning Service with her sister, Joan, in 1998, doing residential and commercial cleaning. They have lived in the Zimmerman (MN) area for over two years.
She is survived by her two sons: Derrick of Zimmerman and Matt of Becker; five grandchildren: Aaron, Alexis, Cecelia, Hayden and Elton; mother and step-father, Leona and Wes Kral of Princeton; brother, Jerry (Barb) Peterson of Zimmerman; and sister, Joan Shearer of Elk River.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elton Lloyd Peterson.
A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, October 13, 2005, at Williams-Hanson-Kaun, Princeton, MN.

JOHN "JUNKMAN JOHN" PEARL SMITH
Longtime Alaska resident, John"Junkman John" Pearl Smith, 62, died Oct. 8, 2005, peacefully in his sleep at his home in Wasilla. John was born Sept. 15, 1943, in Wisconsin to Pearl and Lillian Smith. The family lived in the Willow River area in the 50's and 60's.
He was preceded in death by his dad, P.J.; mother, Lillian; sister, Mary Campbell and his son, Justin Smith.
He is survived by his daughters: Judy and Jeannette of Minnesota and Jennifer Smith of Wasilia; sons: John Jr. and Joseph Smith of Palmer; sisters: Cecelia Zoph of Las Vegas and Roseanne Dyakanoff of Ketchikan, Alaska; brother, Robert Smith of Oregon; and aunts and cousins and their respective families.
Arrangements are with Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
A celebration of his life will be at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at the Butte Community Center in Palmer, Alaska.

DOROTHY BARBARA KOMAR
Dorothy Barbara Komar, 84, formerly of Sturgeon Lake, died Thursday, October 13, 2005, in Chris Jensen Health Care Center of Duluth with her family by her side. Dorothy was born on June 30, 1921 in Sturgeon Lake to Joseph and Julia (Klejeski) Bartczak. She was united in marriage to George M. Komar on June 27, 1942, in Sturgeon Lake. Dorothy was a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church of Sturgeon Lake. She loved polka music, dancing, gardening, flowers, birds and grandchildren and friends. She always put others before herself.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
Dorothy is survived by 4 daughters: Rosemary (Willie) Pressley of Wichita Falls, TX; Audeen (Lee) Auers of Hinckley; Marilyn (Glen) Libbrecht of West Fargo, ND; and Nancy Klejeski of Sturgeon Lake; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 brothers: Clarence (Betty) Bartczak of Holyoke and Peter (Lavonne) Bartczak of Biwabik; many, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was Sunday, October 16, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. with Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and Monday, October 17, from 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sturgeon Lake, with Father Timothy Deutsch as the celebrant. Arrangements were with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

WALTER EDWARD ISAACSON
Walter Edward Isaacson, 91 of Kettle River, died Friday, October 21, 2005 in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. He was born January 3, 1914 to Isaac and Jennie (Holmi) Isaacson in Kalevala Township where he grew up and attended school. Walter was a WWII Army Veteran. Walter logged and worked on the family farm. On January 16, 1947, Walter was united in marriage to Lillian Ahonen. In 1954 when he began working at Conwed in Cloquet until retiring in 1975. He enjoyed gardening and skiing.
Walter is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; his parents: Isaac and Jennie Isaacson; 3 brothers, Arnie, Waino and Reino; 1 sister, Mayme.
Walter is survived by 5 children: Rosie of Barnum, Jim of Kettle River, Mike of Kettle River, Richard of Kettle River, and Loretta of Victorville, California; 2 brothers, Niilo of Kettle River and Hugo of Wyoming, MN.
According to Walter's wishes, there will be no services. A private family inurnment will be held in West Side Cemetery, Silver Twp. Arrangements are with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

AILIE IRENE TUOMELA
March 18, 1915 - October 9, 2005
Ailie I. Tuomela, 90, of Coopersburg, died Sunday, October 9, 2005 in St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill. Her husband of 48 years, Toimi Tuomela, died in 1981. Born in Kettle River, MN, she was a daughter of the late John and Helena (Sarvela) Westerback. She was a loving, caring, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her early married years were spent caring for her husband and five children on a dairy farm in Minnesota. The family moved to Pennsylvania in 1950. A member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, she was active in Girl Scouts, quilting and was chaplain of the senior citizens group. She became a licensed practical nurse in Connecticut for seven years and then worked in Pennsylvania for more than 10 years, as well as volunteering nursing. She loved to travel and was an avid Scrabble player and crossword enthusiast. Her home was always open to friends and relatives who knew they would receive a warm welcome, coffee, food and homemade bread.
Survivors: Son, Alvin and his wife, Shirley, of Coopersburg; daughters: Darlene Linde Schultz and Barbara Fenichel, both of Hellertown; Rosenell and her husband, Robert Vincent, of Canterbury CT; sister, L. Helen Lahti and her husband, John, of Duluth, MN; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Dorothy Vogeler and a great-grandson, Joshua Vincent.

CLARA DEGERSTROM
Clara Christina (Nelson) Degerstrom, age 90, of Askov, MN, passed away on October 18, 2005 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN. She was born December 14, 1914 in Marietta, MN to Olaf and Amelia (Anderson) Nelson. Growing up, she attended the Messenger school in Bruno Township. She was confirmed at Vilstad Lutheran Church and attended Luther League there. She met her husband, William G. Degerstrom there, and they were married in Pine City, MN on July 2, 1932. They were together 61 years. Clara's greatest love in life was her children and all of her grandchildren. She played the piano, accordion and harmonica. She loved her cat, Emma, reading, cooking, gardening and crocheting. She worked at the Elgin Watch Factory, the Askov Bakery, APCO and cooked at the Sandstone Nursing Home. She gave a lot of home permanents and haircuts. She was a member of the Church of Victory in Askov. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Adolph, Arthur and Oscar; 3 sisters, Agnes, Eda and Beulah; 1 daughter, Ruth (Melvin) Aho and 2 daughters-in-law, Mavis and Viola.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Clarice (Bernie S.) Loew of Askov; 3 sons, Carl and his special friend, Joyce of Willow River, Marlyn (Linda) of Askov and Darrell (Virginia) of Moose Lake; 1 brother, Edwin of Askov; 20 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and sisters-in law. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Church of Victory in Askov with Rev. Marlyn Degerstrom officiating. Pianist is Margaret Christensen. Casketbearers are Richard Degerstrom, Kevin Degerstrom, Tom Degerstrom, Ryan Degerstrom, Fred Degerstrom, Matt Degerstrom, Sean Degerstrom, Bernie Loew, Jr., Jim Loew and Jeff Aho. --Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at the church. Interment at the Church of Victory Cemetery. Arrangements by Methven Funeral Home, Sandstone, MN.
