Hazel Rogers

Funeral Services were held April 02, 2001 for Hazel V. Rogers of Mora, at Rock Mankie Funeral Home in Braham with Rev. Richard Chronis officiating and leading the congregation in music. Pallbearers were Lowell Rogers, Fred Hass, Wayne Hass, Jim Pakulski and Steve Rumchik. Burial was in Borgholm Cemetery in Borgholm Township, Mille Lacs County.

The daughter of Per and Mathilda (Halberg) Anderson, she was born August 15, 1913, at home in Borgholm Township, Mille Lacs County. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Bock, MN. She attended rural school and graduated from Milaca High School in 1930. After graduation, Hazel worked for Montgomery Wards in the Twin Cities. She married Gordon R. Rogers in 1947. Then Hazel worked for the family roofing and sheet metal business. After Gordon died in 1987 Hazel lived outside of Mora. Hazel was a private person who was involved in gardening, sewing, and thoroughly enjoyed her place on the river.

Hazel died at her home March 29, 2001, at the age of 87.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernon, Lowell, and Darwin.

She is survived by her son Lowell (Carol) Rogers and their daughter Diana of Braham; brother Eugene Anderson of Milaca; and sister Mildred Hass of Ogilvie.

Bradley Harmon

Bradley Dale Harmon, 39, of Harris, died March 27, 2001 at his home.

Services were held March 31 from North Isanti Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Larson officiating. Eben and Barb Gillespie provided the special music with Lois Larson on the organ. Burial was in the church cemetery with Albert Wicklund, Bob Erbstoesser, Randy Ziesmer, Henry Holmes, Dave Holmes and Jay Anderson as pallbearers.

He was born in Grantsburg, WI July 25, 1961 to Earl and Verna (Nordstrom) Harmon. When he was four, the family moved to Cambridge and he attended school in Cambridge until 1977. On February 12, 1983 he married Mary Jo Holmes at Cambridge Lutheran Church and they were parents of three children, James Earl, Samantha Jo and Natasha Lynn.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1982; his niece Michelle (Shelly) Lund in 1988; brother, Larry Earl in 1991; nephew Thomas Earl Harmon and his father-in-law, James Holmes.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, James, Samantha and Natasha, all of Harris; mother, Verna of Grantsburg; seven brothers and sisters, Marvin (Lonny); Gordon (Janet); Glen (Judy); Adryce (Dave) Erbstoesser, all of Grantsburg; Lois Lund of Cambridge; Karen (Vern) Anderson of Cambridge and Verle (Dave) Johnson of North Branch; sister-in-law, Judy (Tim) Pekarek of Eagan; mother-in-law, Elfrida Holmes of Cambridge; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jon (Sara) Holmes of Amery, WI; Dave Holmes of Cambridge; Henry (Shannon) Holmes of East Bethel; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Holmes of Ham Lake and Miki McConaughy of Cambridge.

Arrangements were with Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge.

Janet (Hammer) Meadows

Janet Lucille (Hammer) Meadows, 90, of Cambridge, formerly of Lakeville, died at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge April 3, 2001.

Services were held April 6 from Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Erling Tungseth officiating. Reflections were given by her granddaughter, Stacy Hammer-Garcia. Gwen Anderson, accompanied by Mary Kay O’Neill, sang “Jesus Loves Me” and “How Great Thou Art.” Burial was in Lakeville Grove Cemetery in Lakeville with John, Peter and Michael Hammer, Tony Rabiola and Tom and Ty Halgrimson as pallbearers.

She was born in St. Paul April 19, 1910 to John and Rose Stempfley. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1928 and from St. Andrew’s Nursing School in 1931. Janet spent most of her life on the farm in Lakeville and had her last few years in Cambridge where she lived at Riverwood Village. In January 1997 she moved to Grandview Christian Home. She was a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church and Dorcas Circle. She loved her church and prayed for her pastors daily.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Hammer and Spurgeon Meadows; an infant daughter and four brothers.

She is survived by her sons, Paul (Diane) Hammer; Edwin (Lee) Hammer, all of Lakeville; Robert (Charlotte) Hammer of New Prague; David (Cheryl) Hammer of Apple Valley and George (Sue) Hammer of Lakeville; daughters, Phyllis (Warren) Halgrimson of Cambridge and Janice (Ken) Lapin of Sacramento, CA; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters Mabel Storlie of Lakeville; Dorothy Jensen of Farmington and Ruth Kral of Hastings, NE.

Memorials to Cambridge Lutheran Church are preferred.

Ethel (Carlson) Weiser

Ethel Irene (Carlson) Weiser, 90, of Cambridge, formerly of Minneapolis, died at Grandview Christian Home April 8, 2001.

Services were scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12 at Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Erling Tungseth officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis with Derrick Olin, Greg Graves, Herb Olin and Darrell Thorn as pallbearers.

She was born in Stockholm, MN. August 12, 1910 to O. Algot and Anna K. (Peterson) Olson.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edwin Carlson and Vincent Weiser; sister, Edna Krieg; and brothers, Vernon, Warren and Ralph Olson.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Herb) Olin of Cambridge; grandchildren, Lynda (Greg) Graves of Rochester; Lori Thorn of St. Paul and Derrick Olin of St. Paul; and great-grandchildren, Andrea, Bridget and Preston Graves and Melanie Thorn.

Arrangements were with Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge.

Melanie Lundquist

Melanie Lundquist, 52, of Isanti, died April 15, 2001 at her home after a short battle with cancer.

Melanie Jean Lundquist was born January 8, 1949 at Northfield, MN, to Maynard and Norma Hallanger. She was raised in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School class of 1967. She then attended Augsburg College and graduated in 1971. On December 27, 1969 she married David Lundquist. They made their first home at Soderville. In 1973 they moved to rural Isanti where they have since made their home. Melanie was employed at Cambridge Medical Center. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Isanti. Her hobbies and interests included doing crafts, gardening, rollerblading and laying in the sun. She was a master gardener, a 4-H volunteer and she enjoyed music.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma, in 1998.

She is survived by her husband, David of Isanti; son Jason of Isanti; daughter Hilarie of Isanti; father Maynard Hallanger of Minneapolis; brothers Norman and wife Pat Hallanger of Burnsville and Gary Hallanger of Detroit, Michigan.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, from Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Curtis Peter officiating. Mary Falk was the soloist and Elaine Johnson served as organist. The pallbearers were Christian Hallanger, Gary Hallanger, Norman Hallanger, Brian Lundquist, Eugene Lundquist, Wayne Lundquist. The interment was in Isanti Union Cemetery.

Services were entrusted to the care of the Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.

Gerald G. Johnston

Funeral services were held April 7, 2001 for Gerald Gene Johnston, 67, of Braham, at Rock Mankie Funeral Home. Pastor Richard Chronis officiated and provided the musical selections. Pallbearers were Mark and Wade Johnston, Bob Frydenlund, Leo Streiff and his grandsons Matt, Eric and Dan. Honorary pallbearers were his granddaughters Corinne, Jessica, Justina and Julie. Burial was at Grasston Baptist Cemetery in Grass Lake Township.

The son of Harvey and Phyllis Johnston, Gerald was born April 4, 1934 in Minneapolis where he grew up. He married Delores Venstad May 17, 1952 in Minneapolis. They lived in the Minneapolis area before moving north of Braham in 1974 where they have since lived. Jerry was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He died unexpectedly April 4, 2001 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Phyllis.

He is survived by: his wife Delores; sons Mark (Josephine) Johnston, Wade (Diane) Johnston; daughters Cindy (Bob) Frydenlund, Sherry (Leo) Streiff; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Justina, Julie, Corinne, Matthew, Daniel, and Eric; sisters, Juanita, Shirley, Colleen; brothers, Guy and Don.

Ebba E. Heinisch

Funeral services were held April 12, 2001 for Ebba Eugeni. Heinisch of Shakopee, formerly of Braham, at Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Richard Chronis officiated. Chuck Sabin provided the music. Burial was in Rice Lake Lutheran Cemetery.

The daughter of Carl August and Anna Almida Johnson Staffenson she born April 12, 1913 in Amery, WI She spent her early years in Amery and then her family moved to St. Paul in 1926. She was confirmed at Gustavas Adolph Lutheran Church May 30, 1926. In 1934 she graduated from Nurse Maids Training at Children’s Home Society of Minnesota. She took care of many children of prominent Minnesota families. Ebba married Harold P. Heinisch March 22, 1946 in Ames, Iowa. They lived in Eden Prairie from 1947 until August 1954 when Harold accepted a job at Dahlman Manufacturing. Ebba was a homemaker, took the census in 1960, worked part time at Wendell Carlson Fairway Foods store, and after Harold’s death she babysat for many families in Braham for over 10 years. Babies and children were at the heart of her. She joined Braham Ev. Lutheran Church in December 1975, attended Bible studies and Circle. She also attending the Senior Dining Center at Park Manor. In 1996 shemoved to Shakopee to be near her daughter and son-in-law and family. She became a resident of St. Gertrude’s where she spent the last 15 months under the care of their great staff.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Heinisch in 1975, sisters Catherine Staffenson, Irene Peterson and Ruth Anderson and brother Emmett Staffenson.

She is survived by her daughter Loretta (Lorrie) and her husband Dell Osterdyk of Shakopee; grandsons Greg (Lori) Osterdyk of Buffalo and Thad (Keri) Osterdyk of Shakopee and their daughter Laura Gene.

Margaret VanSlooten

Margaret Genevieve Van-Slooten, 93, of Cambridge died April 10, 2001 at Cambridge Health Care Center.

Services were held April 13 from St. John Lutheran Church of Weber with Rev. Lyle Kath officiating. Jon Ekstrom, accompanied by Elena Mitterhauser sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “On Eagles Wings.” Pallbearers were Don Strehlo, Don Larson, Gary Urness, Jim Herzog, Tom Baskin and Howie Lundin. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was born July 28, 1907 in Rochester, MN to Thomas and Mary (Egan) Sullivan. She married Barney Herzog and to this union a daughter, Patricia, was born. Margaret spent time living in Owatonna, Pine City, and later in Cambridge after she married Henry VanSlooten January 7, 1984. Henry died January 26, 1993. In 1996 Margaret became a resident CHCC.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, four brothers and three sisters.

Margaret is survived by daughter Patricia (Merton) Urness of Green Valley, Arizona, step-sons Melvin (Joyce) VanSlooten of Burnsville, Roger (Lois) VanSlooten of Jacksonville, Florida, step-daughter-in-law Gay VanSlooten,

Gordon Nelson

Gordon Oscar Woodrow Nelson was born August 29, 1920, to Oscar A. Nelson and Clara (Bloom) Nelson, in Coin.

As a youth, he helped on the family farm in Coin. He served in the U. S. Army after World War II. His company guarded German prisoners of war. Gordon was the company commander’s personal driver and served as Sgt. of the motor pool. In 1948 Gordon married Marie De Young. They had two sons: Rollin and Rodney. Gordon spent his life farming and doing carpentry work. He loved visiting with people and lending a hand to anyone who needed it. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marie, and sister, Elvera Gordhamer.

He is survived by son Rollin (Joanne) of Mora; son Rodney of Ogilvie; grandsons; Duane, Dave, Cullen, Dan and Clint; sister, Pearl D. Olson of Stanchfield. He died April 4 at the Villa Health Care Center in Mora at age 80.

Services were held April 7 from Siloa Lutheran Church with Rev. James Hougen officiating. Music was furnished by Dorothy Rysdam and Rev. Robert DeYoung. Pallbearers were Gary Werkhoven, Cliff, Jeff and Wally DeYoung, Eugene and Larry Gordhamer with burial the church cemetery. The Ogilvie American Legion Post #640 provided military rites.

Clarice Erickson

Clarice Ruby Erickson, 79, of Cambridge died April 11, 2001 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Services were held April 14 from Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Erling Tungseth officiating. Lawrence Olson, accompanied by Mary Kay O’Neill, sang “Children of the Heavenly Father” and “I’d Rather Have Jesus,” Ken Braaten, accompanied by Kim Strand, sand “The Lord’s Prayer.” Pallbearers were John Cosgrove, Alan Overland, Dan Quiram, Lyle Erickson, Mike Hockert, Luther Thompson, Paul Thompson, and Rick Osborne. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was born May 27, 1921 in Strandquist, MN the fifth of nine children of Carl and Ida (Rood) Torkelson. She attended country grade school and Sunday school. She graduated from Karlstad High School and Moorhead State Teachers College receiving her elementary teaching degree. She went on to graduate from Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. She taught 5th and 6th grade in Hallock, Karlstad, Newfolden and Cambridge, MN. She also taught special education at Cambridge Regional Center for many years, retiring in 1987.

On June 30, 1951 she married Carl W. Erickson at Hegland Lutheran Church near Karlstad where she had been baptized and confirmed. In 1954 they built their home in West Cambridge where they raised their family. Clarice loved visiting her daughters and their families, her two granddaughters, Angela and Katie, whom she treasured. She enjoyed reading her Bible and teaching Sunday School, her Bible study groups, making scrapbooks and albums, baking, canning and making lefse, which her family dearly loved. She enjoyed time spent traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She was looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in June.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ida, infant brother Alfred and daughter Carol Cosgrove.

Clarice is survived by husband Carl, daughters Connie (Alan) Overland of Sturgeon Lake, Kristie (Dan) Quiram of Montgomery, MN, son-in-law John Cosgrove and granddaughters Angela and Katie Cosgrove of Chattanooga, TN, brothers and sisters Norval (Mildred) Torkelson of Warren, MN, Thelma Thompson of Karlstad, MN, Amy (Joel) Fedji of Hoople, ND, Valborg Torkelson of Chula Vista, CA, Marie (Ken) Braaten of Windmere, ND, Oliver Torkelson of Strandquist, MN, Loise Becker of Warren, MN, She was loved and will be dearly missed. Blessed be her memory.

Marvel Olson

Marvel Christine Olson, 94, of Isanti, died April 20, 2001, at Cambridge Health Care Center.

Services were held April 23 at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Curtis Peter officiating. Mark Falk, accompanied by Shirley Olson, sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Rev. Paul Idstrom conducted the graveside service, April 24, at the Svea Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Pete Jensen, Paul Knutson, Jim and Wayne Lindblad, Ron Morrison, David Toomey, Briand and Mike White.

She was born October 5, 1906, in Fahlin Township, Kandiyohi County, to Oscar and Elsie Knutson. She was born and raised on a farm near Svea, MN. On October 5, 1925 she married Frans Lindblad. They made their home near Svea and they farmed for many years in the Lake Lillian area. Marvel was a member of the Svea Lutheran Church. In 1953 they moved to Braham and then in 1959 they moved to Isanti. Her husband, Frans, died in 1967. On March 9, 1969 she married Clifford C. Olson and they made their home at Isanti. Her husband, Clifford, died in 1981. Marvel was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti. She was an LPN at Cambridge State Hospital for many years and after her retirement she worked in home health care with Isanti County. Marvel enjoyed fishing and she had a green thumb and enjoyed growing flowers, especially violets.

She is survived by sons, Waldron O. (Janet) Lindblad of Vancouver, Washington, Hubert F. (Iris) Lindblad of Outing, MN, Ralph R. (Nancy) Lindblad of Bloomington; also by seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran Church, Svea Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.

Services were entrusted to the care of the Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.

Doris Hable

Doris Adeline Hable, 78, of Isanti, was Promoted to Glory April 20, 2001, at the Elim Home in Princeton.

Funeral services were held April 24 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with Father Jose Edayadiyil officiating. The song leader was Jay Loecken and Leona Jacques served as organist. The pallbearers were Ben, Erin and Michael Hable, Jennifeer, Ryan and Tim Soliday. Interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

She was born November 2, 1922 at Stillwater to Isaac and Adeline Holmes. She was raised at Stillwater and graduated from Stillwater High School, Class of 1940. On April 16, 1951, she married John (Bud) Hable. They made their home at West St. Paul and then they moved to Coon Rapids where they lived for 30 years. They moved to Isanti 11 years ago. Doris was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Isanti. Her hobbies included gardening, bird watching, and collecting thimbles. Doris especially enjoyed spending time with her family and participating in all of the family activities.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Marie, and by an infant brother.

She is survived by her husband, John (Bud) Hable of Isanti; children, Tim of Annandale, John Jr. (Sharon) of Chisago Lakes, Sally (Chuck) Soliday of Lakeville, Nancy Hable (David Long) of Zionsville, Indiana, Frank of Burnsville, Katherine (Chris) Corbin of Apple Valley; brother, Donald (Barbara) Holmes of North St. Paul; sister, Betty June Holmes of Taylors Falls; grandchildren: Michael, Erin and Ben Hable; John III, Chantelle and Ashley Hable; Jennifer, Ryan, Tim and Katy Soliday; Amanda, Julia and Caroline Long; Jim Blovin, Emily, Margaret, Adeline and Lillian Corbin; and great-grandchild, Austin Hable.

Services were entrusted to the care of the Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.

Helen M. Johnson

Services were held April 16, 2001 for Helen Marie Johnson, 84, of Dalbo, at Salem Lutheran Church of Dalbo. Rev. William Pearson officiated. Music was provided by Roberta Erickson on the organ and vocalist Nola Smith. Pallbearers were Stanley Elton, Kevin Grabow, Marvin Strandlund, Lyle Strandlund, Vernon Strandlund and Erling Strandlund. Burial was at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Brunswick.

She was born December 24, 1916 at home at Grass Lake Township, Kanabec County, to Erick and Victoria Erickson, baptized January 23, 1917, and confirmed June 14, 1921. Her parents died when she was a young girl. She then lived with her grandparents, A.P. and Anna Strandlund. She attended grade school in Brunswick and then took the first bus in Kanabec County to high school in Mora. She graduated as Salutatorian in her class. Helen then went on to Normal Teacher’s Training school and became a teacher. She taught in the country schools in Kanabec and Isanti counties. She married Casey (Carl A.) Johnson June 26, 1946 and bought a farm in the Dalbo area where they had two children, Duane and Shirley. She went back to college and got her Bachelor of Science degree in 1966. She taught at the Mora Public Schools until she retired in 1978. She was very active in Brunswick Lutheran Church as a child and at Salem Lutheran Church as an adult, being a Sunday School teacher, superintendent, WELCA-the ladies organization, Bible study groups, helping to raise money for building projects at the church, and many more activities. She was named the Outstanding Senior Citizen of Isanti County in 1993 and honored at the state fair. She was a long-time member and state officer of the Grange. After Helen retired she enjoyed making hand-quilted quilts that won state awards, crafts, oil paintings, making crafts for school children, and many other activities. She enjoyed traveling to Sweden four times to meet relatives and cousins there, many Caribbean and Alaskan cruises, and visiting most of the states in the United States. She has led a very active enjoyable life and took great joy seeing old friends and meeting new people. The coffee pot was always ready for a visitor.

She died April 11, 2001 at Princeton Hospital.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Erickson, Jeanette Leone, and Audrey Gowell.

She is survived by her son, Duane (Sharon) Johnson; daughter, Shirley Johnson; brother-in-law, Vinton (Bink) Gowell; nieces, Suzanne Mueller, Nanci Blanchard, Pat Filbrandt; nephews, Mike and Dennis Gowell; many first cousins; her honorary grandchildren, Jordan and Marissa Grabow; and friends.

Ruth Ann Berglund

Ruth Ann Berglund, of Cambridge, died suddenly and unexpectedly April 27, 2001.

A memorial service was held May 1 at Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Tollefson officiating. Memorials preferred to Cambridge Lutheran Church.

Ruth was born December 6, 1932, in Cambridge, daughter of Alvin and Thora Berglund. Following her 1950 graduation from Cambridge H. S, Ruth attended Gustavus Adolphus College and Hamline University School of Nursing, receiving her RN degree in 1954. She practiced her nursing career until 1989 when she retired from nursing at Asbury and Methodist hospitals after 35 years of service. Ruth lived in Minneapolis until returning to Cambridge in 1985. While in Cambridge she was actively involved in Cambridge Lutheran Church. She served as a Cambridge election judge and in several volunteer capacities including East Central Library, Shalom and Relay for Life. Her life reflected her caring and giving nature. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Wymore of Scarborough, Maine; brothers, Alvin of Cambridge and Robert (Darlene) of North Hudson, WI; nieces and nephews: Scott (Maryann) Wymore of St. Louis, MO, Ann (William) Dean of Scarborough, Maine, Donna (Gary) Severance of Jupiter, FL, Greta (Jeff) Brynildson of Edina; Peter (Linda) Berglund of Brooklyn Center; Karin (Tom) Mabee of Johnston, Iowa, Eric (Jacki) Berglund of East Grand Forks; Christopher (Susan) Berglund of Lee’s Summit, MO, Amy (Paul) Lindberg of Oakdale; Jon (Colleen) Berglund of North Hudson, WI, Paul Berglund of Redmond, WA, and a loving extended family.

Edwin Holger

Edwin S. Holger, 83, died in Fremont, Neb. April 7, 2001, from Alzheimer’s Disease and complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. May 11 at Oxlip Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Philip Ronzheimer officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Fremont Alliance Church’s missions fund.

He was born July 30, 1917, in Chicago, and grew up in Harvey, IL. He was a minister and served churches in Maple Ridge, Hancock, and Snake River, MN, Webster, SD, Rutland, ND, and La Junta, CO. Besides living at Oxlip, he also lived in Phoenix for 30 years, then moved to Fremont, NE in February 1997. In his retirement years he served as chaplain in several nursing homes on both a paid and volunteer basis from 1981to 1999. He received numerous “Volunteer of the Year” awards for the most hours served in those facilities. While living in Phoenix, he was a member of the North Phoenix Baptist Church, where he received ordination. In Fremont, he attended Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He married Eleanor M. Swanson June 22, 1944 in Oxlip. She preceded him in death May 8, 1980.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Carl.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Ellen (Mrs. Phil) Ronzheimer of Fremont, NE and Sandra J. (Mrs. Curt) Penner of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; a brother, Raymond, of Red Oak, Texas, and six grandchildren.

Chloris Alonzo

Chloris A. Alonzo, 79, Worland, Wyo, formerly of Cambridge, died at Worland Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center April 2, 2001. Services were held April 6 at Trinity Lutheran in Miles City, Mont, with Rev. James Mavis officiating. Burial in Custer County Cemetery.

She was born August 11, 1921 in Mildred, Mont., to Arthur and Cora (Christensen) Hyde and received her education in Mildred prior to moving with her family to Miles City. She married Bill Leatherberry in 1941 and they later divorced. To this union was born a son and a daughter. She continued to live in Miles City and married Bernard S. Alonzo June 28, 1950. They moved to Minnesota in 1977 and returned to Miles City in 1986. Bernard died in 1988 and Chloris lived near her children in Montana, Wyoming, and Minnesota, moving to Worland in 2000. She lived at Worland Healthcare & Rehab Center until her death. Her hobbies included visiting with friends, telling jokes, playing bingo, and she loved to shake dice, country western music, dancing and attending rodeos. She was a very special lady. “We love you, Mom.”

Her parents, husband, son, daughter, brother and sister preceded her in death.

She is survived by daughters, Cora M. Swenson of Isanti, Mary and Dale Brooks of Thermopolis, Wyoming, and Anita Cannon of New Orleans; brothers, Virgil and Glen Hyde of Cambridge; one granddaughter, three grandsons, and two great-grandsons.
