Nettie Justine Erickson 1903 - 1999, 95, Saginaw, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999 in Cloquet Community Memorial Nursing Home. She was born on May 8, 1903 in Skibo to Berndt and Christina (Olson) Peterson. She married John Einar Erickson and moved to Saginaw where she farmed with her husband for many years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Saginaw. She was preceded in death be her husband in 1960. She is survived by one daughter, Violet Batdorf of St. Cloud; two sons, John (Christine) of Cloquet and Bill (Kathy) of Elk River; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service today, Saturday, in Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet. Burial will be in Grand Lake Cemetery at a later date. Helia W. Petrell 1912 - 1999, 87, formerly of New York Mills and Cloquet, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999. She was born on March 11, 1912 in Two Harbors to Peter and Minnie (Erholtz) Etelainen. She grew up in Toimi and graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1930. She married Elmer Petrell in 1933. She lived in several areas of northern Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin until 1958 at which time she moved to New York Mills. In 1978, she moved to Cloquet where she was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. In 1993, she moved to the Twin Cities area, and most recently, she lived in Hibbing and Grand Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; brothers, Andrew and Eino Etelainen and sister, Tyne McPherson. She is survived by two sons, James (Helen) Petrell of Bovey and Dennis Petrell of Brimson and Las Vegas; sister, Hannah Eskelin of El Cerrito, Calif.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Saturday in Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet. Inurnment will be at a later date in Brimson Cemetery. Helen M. Kerwin 1926 - 1999, 72, Holyoke, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth. She was born on Oct. 12, 1926 in Clearcreek Township to Floyd and Mildred (VanGuilder) Nelson. She married Edward Kerwin on Sept. 5, 1945 in Duluth. She and Ed “Bud” lived in Rochester from 1947 to 1975 when they returned to Holyoke. She attended the Wrenshall Presbyterian Church and loved the outdoors, flowers and picking blueberries. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Nelson. She is survived by her husband, Edward “Bud;” six children, Sherriel (Terry) Wold of Blooming Prairie, Steven Kerwin of Holyoke, Sanford “Butch” (Kathy) Kerwin of Kasson, Susan (Mike) Dahl of Holyoke, Sheila (Dale) Lamb of Holyoke and Shirley (Tom) Lica of Spring Lake Park; one brother, Charles (Dorothy) Nelson of Kerrick; four sisters, Eva (Milton “Chink”) Erickson of Holyoke, Viola (Harvey) Sorenson of Holyoke, Betty (Clarence) Bartczak of Holyoke and Margaret (Robert) Alexander of Salem, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet where funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, with Rev. Randy Tedford officiating. Warren W. Strudwick, 67, Duluth, died peacefully Sunday, March 21, 1999 at Golden Oaks, formerly Green Acres, Hermantown. He was born in Duluth and lived there most of his life. He graduated from Morgan Park High School and the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a bachelor of science degree in history, and physical education and later obtained a degree in accounting. Warren had worked for Mathisen Tire Company for 18 years and then worked for Duluth Plumbing for 18 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Glen Avon Presbyterian Church. He was past president of Ridgeview Country Club. He had served as an elder for Glen Avon Presbyterian Church and belonged to Duluth Rotary 25. Warren was also a member of Euclid Chapter Demolay and Lakeside Masonic Lodge. He had taught school in Ogilvie. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Grace Strudwick; his brother, William and an infant daughter, Linda Marie. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three daughters, Pamela Palen, Susan (Charles) Bosell, all of Duluth, and Cheryl (Michael) Smokovich of Bloomington; one son, Scott (Bridgett) Strudwick of Esko; one sister, Marilyn Leach of Ontario, Canada; and three grandchildren, Charlie, Ashley and Abby. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Jarvi-Dowd Chapel. The services were held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Glen Avon Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Carol V. Wood 1921 - 1999, 78, of Cloquet, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, in Fountain Hills, Ariz. She was born Jan. 15, 1921 in Cloquet to Benjamin and Anna (Gavic) Walsh. She was raised in Cloquet and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1938. She graduated from St. Cloud State Teachers College in 1942 with a major in Business Education. While there, she served as class treasurer, and president of the Shoemaker Hall Dormitory. She then became the business education teacher for Atwater High School. Next she moved to Coleraine where she taught business education at the high school and at the Jr. College. She married Raymond Wood at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in St. Paul on Oct. 11, 1946. In St. Paul, she was very active in Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she was active with the Youth Fellowship League. In 1949, she and Ray moved to Cloquet where they became very involved with Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She again sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was involved in the Ladies Aid organization. The church sponsored a Girl Scout Troop and she and Mrs. Agnes Hella were the leaders fore 15 years. Carol was a member of the Cloquet Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served as a volunteer buyer for the gift shop. She also was a United Way volunteer and served as secretary. In 1968, she and Ray moved to Old Town, Maine where she again volunteered at the Women’s Auxiliary of Eastern Maine Medical Center. She also volunteered as buyer for the hospital gift shop. They returned to Cloquet in 1987 where she resumed her activities with Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the E.L.C. women’s group where she served as chairman and was involved in the church quilting program. She was a member of P.E.O., active with the Class of 1938 reunion committee and enjoyed flowers and landscaping at their home. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Raymond; two sisters, Doris (John) Strane of Rancho Bernardo, Calif., and Dr. Eleanor Walsh of Northridge, Calif; four nephews; and three nieces. A memorial service was 1 p.m. Friday, April 2 1999 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet with Rev. Dennis Morreim officiating. Inurnment was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Radio Ministry Program or the Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital Foundation. Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.

Delmer “Del” Leo Borgen 1923 - 1999, Died March 29, 1999 in St. Mary’s Medical Center Hospice Care Unit, Duluth. I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race: I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7. Del was born June 19, 1923 in Moose Lake, MN. He attended Mahtowa Grade School and graduated from Barnum High School in 1941. He attended Duluth Business College for a short time but with the war clouds forming in Europe, he left school to work at the shipyards with his father. He enlisted in the Army Air Force. He served his country in the chemical warfare unit in England, Belgium, Holland and France during World War II. Following the service he attended Bailey Institute in St. Louis, Missouri. In June of 1947, he married Virginia Hanson. They made their home in the Twin Cities until retiring in 1982, when they moved back to the Mahtowa area and built a home at Park Lake. Del worked for 35 years are Director of Fleet Maintenance for Glendenning Motorways, a company he was loyal to and proud to represent. In his retirement years he kept busy with the hobby of making wooden toys, trains, rocking horses and doll houses for little children from far and near. Delmer was preceded in death by his father, Ben and his mother Fanny Borgen. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; his sister, Helen Wittich; nieces and nephew; and a host of extended family members and close friends. Visitation was Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Northland Funeral Home, Mahtowa. Funeral services were Thursday at 1 p.m. in Salem Lutheran Church, Mahtowa with interment following in Mount Salem Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Mary’s Hospice Unit or Salem Lutheran Church, Mahtowa, MN. Arrangements by Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.

George Fredrick Haedrich, 83, of Duluth, died on Friday, March 26, 1999, in his home with his family at his side after a lengthy illness. Visitation was on Sunday, March 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary Chapel with funeral service on Monday at 1 p.m. Burial was in Sunrise Memorial Park. Arrangements were conducted by Johnson Mortuary. Mr. Haedrich was born in St. Paul and moved to Duluth at the age of nine. He attended Alborn High School and served in the U.S. Army. George married Florence Hendrickson on June 22, 1940, in Duluth. He was a conductor for the DM&IR Railroad until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of AARP and the United Transportation Union No. 1292. George is survived by his wife, Florence; three sons, Ordell and his wife, Darlene, of Hermantown, Bill of Duluth, and Randy and his wife, Angela, of Hermantown; five daughters, Joyce Place and her husband, Bob of Cooper City, Fla., Georgia Schoenrock and her husband, Terry of Menasha, Wis., Linda Bushey and her husband, Ron of Duluth, Sandra Baker and her husband, James of Duluth and Kathy Israelson and her husband, Greg of Saginaw; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, George F. Haedrich, Sr.; his mother, Mabel Goss Haedrick; one brother and an infant daughter.

Hartvik T. Hansen 1921 - 1999, 78, of Cloquet died Wednesday, March 31, 1999 in his residence, the same house he was born in on January 1, 1921 to Hans and Lillian (Haadensen) Hansen. He was a lifelong Cloquet resident. He married Loretta Nendick on March 16, 1942 in Atkinson. They just celebrated 57 years of marriage with most of his family present. He formerly worked for his father with Hans Hansen Construction; the Conwed Corp. and retired from Cloquet Transfer Co. as a truck driver with 39 years of service; and also with Cloquet Transit as a bus driver. He was a member of the Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle where he served as deacon and elder. He and Loretta served for many years as Sunday school leaders for the Sawyer Chapel. He had a great love for his family, truck driving and chopping wood. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brothe,r James N. Hansen; and one sister, Betty Hansen. Hartvik is survived by his wife, Loretta; two sons, James (Carol) Hansen of Plymouth, and Keith (Patricia) Hansen of Cloquet; two daughters, Susan (Ted) Belich of Carlton, and B.J. (Mike) Hansen Childs of Grand Rapids; one sister, Helen Youngstrand of Duluth; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was Friday, April 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle where funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev Richard Doebler and Rev. David Riveness officiating. Interment services will follow at Atkinson Cemetery. Arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Care, Cloquet.

Iver John Smith, 52, of Duluth, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, in his home. Iver was born in Duluth. He attended Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle and worked as a carpenter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline, in 1982, and an infant granddaughter, Hope E. Fuller in 1994. Iver is survived by his mother and father, Harry and Martha Baker of Duluth; three daughters, Shari (Thomas) Fuller of Mahtowa, Stacy and Julie Smith of Proctor; a son, Jamy Smith of Duluth; three brothers, Jeff (Sue) Baker of Duluth, Ronald (Angela) Smith of Esko, and Tim (Dory) Baker of Duluth; a sister, Nell Rae (Danny) Dwyer of Ohio; two grandchildren, Jacqueline and William Fuller. A memorial service was 10 a.m. Saturday in Bell Brothers Chapel, 601 N. 56th Ave. W., Duluth. Arrangements were by Bell Brothers Chapel, Duluth.

Lorraine E. Tomhave, 95, died March 25, 1999, at the Pine View Apartments in Carlton. She is survived by her son, Jack (Mary) Tomhave; and her daughter, Sue Stock of Westport, Kent.; grandchildren, Jim (Jennie) Tomhave, Jean (Jeff) Russum, Steve (Kerry) Tomhave, Chris Stock and Geoff (Lisa) Stock; and three great-grandchildren. At her request there will be no memorial service.

Susan “Sue” V. Thieling 1949 - 1999, 49, Cloquet, died Monday, March 29, 1999. She was born August 17, 1949, in Cloquet, the daughter of W. Ernest and Violet V. (Maki) Kempi. She was a 1967 graduate of Cromwell High School and worked for several years as a legal secretary in Brainerd and for the Carlton County Attorney and St. Louis County Attorney. She had a licensed day care center in her home for many years. For the last 14 years, she had been employed as a Case Aide for Carlton County Adult Services and had also been employed for five years as a costumer service representative for the Duluth News Tribune. Sue was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Cloquet and also was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed many different crafts, singing, but most importantly, she especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sharon M. Kempi; and a nephew, Michael S. Kempi. Sue is survived by her children, Marnee J. (Jerel) Fineout of Minneapolis, Chad A. (Sandy) Thieling and Jeremy R. Thieling, both of Duluth; and their father, Gene Thieling of Proctor; two grandchildren, Kristina Fineout and Corey Thieling; two sisters, Myrna J. (Dale) Wells of Cloquet and Debra A. Kempi (Danny Smith) of Tamarack; two brothers, Marvin E. (Patricia) Kempi of Cresco, Iowa and Daniel F. Kempi of Auburn, Wash.; special friend, Bob Haglund of Cloquet; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation was Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet, and continued Friday from 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Cloquet. Wallace James McFall 1924 - 1999, Funeral services for Wallace James McFall, 75, of Tahlequah, were 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, 1999, at Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Diffenbaugh officiating. Burial followed in the Hendricks Cemetery under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Pallbearers were Dale Farmer, Dory Cobb, Billy Ward, Bruce Turner, Sonny Cochran and Bob Moon. Mr. McFall was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Carlton, the son of George A. and Mariline (McDonnell) McFall, and he passed from this life on March 25, 1999, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. He attended school in Carlton. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1953. On Feb. 7, 1948, he married Rose Marie Curtis at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Ill. They made their home in Tahlequah in 1965. He started his own business, McFall Plumbing in 1973. Fishing was a very important part of his life. He made an annual trip to fish in Oregon with is brother, Bud. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren - they were the light of his life. Mr. McFall was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Robert, Jack, Tom, Terry and Kenneth McFall. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Wallace James (Jean) McFall Jr. of Sparta, Tenn., and Joe McFall of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Amy Farmer of Sparta and Ashley Cobb of Manchester, Tenn; two great-grandchildren; one brother, George “Bud” McFall of Oregon; six sisters, Mary Jane Ulsky of Oregon, Frances Hallback, Dorothy Brigan, Florence Standberg and Janice Setala, all of Minnesota, and Barbara Hamilton of Michigan; many other relatives, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.

Robert “Rob” Scott Morrison 1978 - 1999, 20, Round Rock, Texas, died Friday, April 2, 1999, in Round Rock, Texas. He was born on May 30, 1978 in Robbinsdale to Scott and Jana (Bergeron) Morrison. They moved to Rochester in 1991 where he graduated from Mayo High School, Rochester, in 1996. He moved to Woodlands, Texas, in August of 1996. He attended Montgomery Community College in Woodlands, Texas, for one year prior to attending Austin Community College in Austin, Texas. He was currently a student at the University of Texas, Austin, School of Engineering. He enjoyed music, golf, tennis. He played in youth bowling, and youth baseball and had a zest for life. He was preceded in death by his parental grandmother, Shirley Morrison. He is survived by his parents, Scott and Jana Morrison; one brother, Matt; his fiance, Corina Hammock and their unborn child of Woodlands, Texas; his paternal grandfather, Robert Morrison of Duluth; maternal grandparents, Roland and Marion Bergeron of Cloquet; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation was held on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care, Cloquet, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet. Frank Michael Kobus 1928 - 1999, 71, Cloquet, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at the Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 2, 1928, in Kettle River to Joseph and Mary (Gradowski) Kobus. He moved to Cloquet in the mid-40s. He worked for Diamond International in Cloquet for many years, retiring on May 1, 1990. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Martha Walker. He is survived by four sisters, Ann Mitio, Angeline Tillman, and Olga Milczarek, all of Cloquet and Mary Jusko of Medaryville, Ind.; one brother, Joseph (Patricia) Kobus of Cloquet; six nieces; six nephews; six great-nephews; four great-nieces and one brother-in-law, John Walker. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Nelson Funeral Care where the funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Anna L. McDonald 1919 - 1999, 79, Duluth, died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth. She was born on Nov. 29, 1919, in Duluth to Arthur M. and Lena L. Schandel Erdahl. She had been a lifelong resident of Duluth. Anna was a homemaker and had worked for the former Stovers Gardens in Minneapolis. She married Stanley E. McDonald on Aug. 11, 1938, in Duluth. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Family and friends were very important to her. She loved to walk, help at church, make pasties and play bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley on Dec. 30, 1968; one son, Patrick James McDonald on Nov. 9, 1998 and one sister, Liurena Scanlon. She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Gordon) Packingham of Duluth; one son, Robert (Janice) of Cloquet; daughter-in-law, Judith (Patrick) McDonald of Duluth; three sisters, Marion Sommervold, Lucile Mattson and Irene Czekalski, all of Duluth; two brothers, Art Erdahl of Waupaca, Wis. and Gerhard (Dorothy) Erdahl of Duluth; seven grandchildren, Jim (Lynn) McDonald, Sandy (Rick) Seafolk, Curt (Debbie) Packingham, David Packingham, Keith (Chris) Packingham, Lynn (Bob) Halbrook, Bob and Diane McDonald; six great-grandchildren, Kristi, Joey, Scott, Hannah, Kyle and Lisa; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31 and continued on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at Bell Brothers Chapel with the Rev. Paul Bosshardt officiating. Burial was in Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Bell brothers Funeral Directors-Bell Brothers Chapel.

Mae Leona (Henderson) Johnson 1920 - 1999, 78, Duluth, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Viewcrest Nursing Home. She was born on May 28, 1920, in Wright to Oliver and Mary (Dix) Henderson. She was a graduate of Floodwood High School. She moved to Duluth in 1937 and married Clifford R. Johnson. She had worked for 13 years in the business office at the Duluth Clinic, retiring in 1983. She was very active in Concordia Lutheran Church as a member of its Altar Guild and helping to serve many funeral lunches. She also volunteered at the Soup Kitchen, St. Luke’s Hospital and Meals on Wheels. She was a member and past secretary of Rice Lake Plus 55 Club and she was a docent at Glensheen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford R. Johnson in 1969; her sisters, Ruth Van Schyndel in California and Harriet Mock in Michigan; brother, Bill Henderson in Cloquet and her special friend, Clarence Johnson in 1997. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen (John) Shannon of Hibbing and Jackie (Larry) Godwin of Wichita Falls, Texas and four grandchildren. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Church with the Rev. Charles Beronius officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.

Albert Erving Rivers 1939 - 1999, 59, Cloquet, died Friday, April, 2, 1999, in St. Mary’s Hospice, Duluth. He was born on Oct. 21, 1939, in Eagleton, Wis., to Arthur and Lorraine (Ruff) Rivers. He was three-years-old when his family moved to Duluth. He was a fishing guide at Nelson’s Resort on Crane Lake from 1956 to 1964. It was there that he met Kay Wiklund and they were married on Jan. 13, 1962, in Virginia. He owned and operated Two Rivers Masonry from 1976 to 1995 at which time he semi-retired. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church; the Arrowhead Builders Association from 1977 to 1995, serving on its board of directors from 1979 to 1986 and 1992 to 1994; a member of the Allied Brick Layers Union Local 3 and for 21 years was a volunteer with the Brevator Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Everlin and a niece, Laurie Harvil. He is survived by his wife, Kay of Cloquet; three daughters, Nicci (Efrain) Alvarez of Twig, Kris (Joshua) Anvid of Culver and Alison Rivers of Cloquet; brother, John (Rita) Rivers of Duluth; sisters, Tomi Rivers of Bloomer, Wis. and Suzanne Rivers of Eau Claire, Wis.; five beautiful granddaughters, Celina, Kayla, Lily, and Emma Alvarez and RyAnna Anvid and his best friend, “Leon.” Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet. Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Mary’s Hospice. Arrangements by Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.

Clara V. Holmes 1912 - 1999, 87, Cloquet, died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at her home. She was born on Jan. 20, 1912, in Duluth to Joseph and Anna (Mareski) Benkoski. She graduated from high school in Duluth. She also graduated from Duluth Business School and later went on to receive her Real Estate license. She married Edgar Holmes on Oct. 10, 1932, in Duluth. It was in Cloquet where she and Edgar became well-known owners and developers of the community. Together they developed much of the property on which present day businesses and franchises reside, being Highway 33 South and Holmes Drive. They started Holmes Construction in 1946 with only one bulldozer and built this small construction company into a well-respected construction firm. She was a former Girl Scout leader, a 4-H Club leader; a community leader, a member of the former St. Casimir’s Catholic Parish and she was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar in 1995; a daughter, Marilyn Dahmen; and a great-granddaughter, Natalie Nicole Nelson. She is survived by three daughters, Thais (John) Swierceski of Cloquet, Heather (William) O’Keefe of Grand Forks, N.D. and Gwen Holmes of Eveleth; one brother, Frank (Jennie) Benkoski of Moose Lake; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A private family memorial mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, celebrated by Rev. Father Kenton Sailstad. Inurnment will be held at Old Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Nelson Funeral Care, Cloquet.

Kathryn Ann Anderson 1941 - 1999, 57, Chisholm, died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Leisure Hills Health Center in Hibbing after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Dec. 5, 1941, in Chisholm to Joseph I. and Jenny E. (Marana) Rosc. She graduated from Chisholm High School in 1959 and attended Northland College in Ashland, Wis., for three years. She resided in Chisholm for most of her life. She married Marvin A. Anderson on June 23, 1962. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm, serving on many of its parish councils. She also served on the Chisholm City Council for four years and on the Chisholm Library Board. She was a great wife, mother, a wonderful cook, and enjoyed playing cards and going on long walks with friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Marvin A.; children, Steven of Chicago, Thomas of Chisholm and Jennie at home; grandchildren, Erich, Michael, Emalee and Madilyn Anderson; brothers, Kenneth (Anita) Rosc of Chisholm, Thomas (Barbara) Rosc of Chisholm, Thomas (Barbara) Rosc of Hibbing and James Rosc of Chisholm; sisters, Joanne (John) Unzen of Moose Lake, Mary Rose (Roger) Varo of Cloquet; numerous nephews and nieces; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday with parish prayer services at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chisholm. Visitation continued one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Lloyd Mudrak as celebrant. Burial will be in Chisholm Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lions Eye Bank at the University of Minnesota. Arrangements by Rupp Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chisholm.

Robert Kelley, Robert Kelley passed away on March 7, 1999, in Alabama. Memorial services will be held at the Cloquet VFW Club Rooms on Saturday, April 10, at 2 p.m.
