James J. Brady
James J. Brady, age 75, a resident of rural Bowlus, MN, died December 28, 1997, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services were December 31 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
James Brady was born October 27, 1922, in Bowlus to John and Elizabeth (Evan) Brady. He married Irene Rossa June 21, 1944, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN. He farmed in the Bowlus area for 40 years and was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis of Bowlus; Allan and wife JoAnn of St. Cloud, MN; seven daughters, Mrs. Jim (Diane) Piekarski of Swanville, MN; Mrs. Bill (Donna) Fedor of Holdingford, MN; Geraldine of Apple Valley, MN; Mrs. Bill (Sandy) Ruprecht of St. Cloud, MN; Mrs. Eric (Sherry) Olmscheid of Sartell, MN; Luan of Richfield, MN; and Mrs. Chuck (Charlotte) Stockman of Apple Valley, MN; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Marie) Rudie of Spokane, WA and Mrs. Larry (Ann) Litchy of Verona, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Nick.
Pallbearers were grandchildren - Ken Czech, Mark Brady, Mike Fedor, Wes Ruprecht, Chris Stockman and Derek Olmscheid.

Clara J. Boser
Clara J. Boser, age 94, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died December 25, 1997, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held December 29 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Clara J. Boser was born January 11, 1903, in Pierz, MN, to the late Math and Francis (Medek) Pauser. She grew up and attended school in Pierz. She worked as a housekeeper in St. Cloud for a few years. Clara was united in marriage to Henry L. Boser in 1924 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple farmed in Cooperstown, ND, until 1935. They farmed south of Little Falls from 1935-39 when they moved into Little Falls. Clara has resided at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls since 1992. She enjoyed sewing and fishing. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary Post #1112.
Survivors include her sons, Jerome Boser of San Clemente, CA; Richard Boser and wife Nancy of East Troy, WI; LeRoy Boser of Little Falls; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Virnig of Little Falls; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Boser; parents; a son, Williard Boser; brothers, John, Chris and Marcus Pauser; sisters, Mary Motschke, Christine Grotz, Susan Przybilla, Catherine Bednar and two infant sisters.
Honorary pallbearers were Little Falls VFW Auxiliary Post #1112.
Pallbearers were nephews.

Lorene M. Grennier
Lorene M. Grennier, age 86, a resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Lexington, MI, died December 25, 1997, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held December 31 at St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington, MI, with burial in the Lexington Cemetery.
Lorene M. Grennier was born July 6, 1911, in Little Falls, MN, to the late David and Julia (Bellefeuille) Houle. She grew up in Ripley Township and attended District #24 school. Lorene was united in marriage to Frank G. Grennier on July 23, 1929, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN. The couple resided in Little Falls until 1940. Lorene worked for General Motors on the assembly line in Waterford, MI, and in Pontiac, MI. The couple retired to Lexington where Lorene worked at the Towne Dress Shop until 1994. She came to reside at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls in October, 1997. Lorene was a member of and very active in St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington.
Survivors include sons, Lyle Grennier and wife Jackie of Boise, ID; Curtis Grennier and wife Alvera of Summerfield, FL; Gary Grennier and wife Barbara of Lexington, AL; and Ronald Grennier and wife Judy of Lewisburg, TN; daughter, Elaine Gourleg and husband Wayne of Oxnard, CA; sisters, Ellidore Thesing and husband Leander of Brainerd, MN; Leora Thesing and husband Ambrose of Brainerd; Mary Lou Thesing and husband Bud of Little Falls; sister-in-law, Lotus Bellefeuille of Little Falls; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank G. Grennier on November 17, 1986; parents, brothers, Lloyd, Conrad, Darold and Orville Houle.

Florence Martinson -Schneider
Florence E. Martinson - Schneider, age 71, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died December 24, 1997, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held December 27 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Rev. Richard E. Bolling officiating. Burial was in the Darling Cemetery.
Florence E. Schneider was born September 30, 1926, in French Lake Township, Wright County, MN, to he late Edward and Elizabeth (Snabb) Josephson. She grew up in French Lake Township and graduated from the Annandale High School in 1944. She then attended one year of college. Florence was united in marriage to Francis “Marty” Martinson in May, 1947, at the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church in Cokato, MN. The couple began farming near Cokato, on the family farm, until 1957. In 1957, they began farming in the Freedhem area. In 1964, they moved to Darling, MN. Florence worked at Munsingwear in Little Falls from 1959-69. Francis “Marty” Martinson passed away in July, 1971. Florence moved to Little Falls in 1973. She was united in marriage to Richard J. Schneider on July 26, 1975, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls. The couple lived in Clarissa until retiring in 1981. They then traveled and lived in a motor home for 11 years. In 1992, they lived in Long Prairie, then Browerville and returned to Little Falls in 1997. Florence enjoyed crossword puzzles, jig saw puzzles and sewing.
Survivors include her husband, Richard J. Schneider of Little Falls; sons, Tom Martinson and wife Cookie of Randall, MN; Jerry Martinson and wife Donna of Little Falls; daughters, Dr. Sheryl Martinson and husband Jim Lammers of Lindstrom, MN; Stacy Martinson of Little Falls; sister, Bernice Maki of St. Paul, MN; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marty Martin-son; parents and a brother, Roger Josephson.
Pallbearers were Tom, Eric and Adam Martinson, Troy Gammon, Ray Schneider and Bruce Westergreen.

Kenneth H. Otremba
Representative Kenneth H. Otremba, age 48, a resident of rural Long Prairie, MN died at his residence in Reynolds Township on September 4, 1997.
Funeral services were held September 6 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie, MN with Father Mark Stang officiating. Burial took place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Long Prairie.
Kenneth was born October 29, 1948 in Little Falls, MN to Herman and Armella (Dehler) Otremba. He grew up in Buckman. He served six years in the Navy where he attended Navy Electronics School for two years and was a radar technician. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He married Mary Ellen Dinkel, April 19, 1974 at St. Mary’s Church in Long Prairie, MN. Since his marriage he lived most of his life in Long Prairie. He farmed in Reynolds Township since 1975. He was a Reynolds Township officer for four years, and Todd County Commissioner for six years, and was currently serving his second term for the State House of Representatives. He enjoyed carpentry, having built his own home, including harvesting trees from his own land. He also enjoyed politics, and most important, his family activities. He was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Parish Council, Long Prairie VFW and American Legion Posts, Board Chairman of Elmdale Mutual Insurance Company, Farmers Union, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever and many other organizations.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ellen of Long Prairie; four children, Andrew, Timothy, Kateri and Elizabeth, all at home; his mother, Armella Otremba, Buckman, MN; nine brothers and two sisters and spouses, Ruth Bolster, St. Louis Park, MN, Marilyn (Dick) Petrin, Milaca, MN, Ray Otremba, Lakeville, MN, Mike (Pat) Otremba, Glenwood, MN, Mark (Kathy) Otremba, Brainerd, MN, Bernie (Sue) Otremba, Buckman, MN, Dan (Cheryl) Otremba, Spokane, WA, George Otremba, Buckman, MN, Kevin Otremba, Pierz, Galen (Julie) Otremba, Pierz, and John (Shelly) Otremba, Farmington, MN.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Otremba. Casketbearers were Gary Muenzhuber, Jim Adamatiz, Tim Butler, Randy Brown, Leyton Fontaine, Rick Krueger, Sue Farmer and Dave Asmus. Honorary casketbearers were Iowa State Teachers College where she received her B.A. in 1942. She taught in rural schools in Iowa and then returned to Alaska as a physician for the Indian Health Services in Mount Edgecumbe, Kanakanak, and Bethel, Alaska. One of her proudest achievements was the initiation of a successful program of ambulatory chemotherapy for tuberculosis. After five years, she returned to California she was the examining physician for the motion picture industry, serving 20th Century Fox and MGM Studios in Hollywood. She is remembered for many hours of volunteer service.
Survivors include two brothers, Dr. Don Michaelson and wife Solveig of Vista, CA, and Dr. Manly Michaelson and wife Doris of Bellevue, IA; nine nephews and six nieces; a special friend, Dorothy Rice of Humboldt and special friends, the Sisters of Presentation of Dubuque, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Casketbearers were Frank Blake, Joe Lange, David Jackson, Dick Auger, Dick Willoughby and Larry Lukoskie.

Ida Brummer
Ida Frieda Brummer, age 97, a resident of Staples, MN, died September 2, 1997, at the Greater Staples Care Center.
Services were September 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Father Lauren Germann officiating. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery in Wadena, MN.
Ida was born on August 31, 1900, to the late Henry and Anna (Gremmert) Hanebuth in Compton Township of Otter Tail County, MN. She was united in marriage to William Brummer, on January 7, 1920, in Wadena. She moved to Staples in 1923 where she was a homemaker and assisted her husband at the William Brummer Insurance Agency. Ida enjoyed her family and family ceremonies. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church where she was active in church dinners and fabricating costumes for school plays. She was the last of the charter members of the VFW Auxiliary, Robert W. Hand Post 1910 of Staples which was organized in March of 1931. She served as its president in 1931, 1932 and 1945.
Survivors include daughters, Rosella Hall of Merrifield, MN, and Lauretta Hanson and husband Wally of Paynesville, MN; sons, Col. James Brummer, Ret. and wife Josephine of St. Joseph, MN, and William Brummer and wife Bernice of Red Lake Falls, MN; sisters, Leona Wiebe of Battle Lake, MN, and Dorothy Larson of St. Helens, OR; brothers, Hans Hanebuth of Ottertail, MN, and William “Bob” Hanebuth of West Covina, CA; 21 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one son, Warren; 10 brothers and sisters and a great-great-granddaughter.
