Sylvester Immerfall, age 84, formerly of the Lake Alexander area, died in Naples, FL, April 7, 1998.
Memorial services will be held privately at a later date.
Herman Eidenshink
Herman Eidenshink, age 74, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died April 6, 1998, at his residence in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held April 9 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Leroy Kremer officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans’ Cemetery. Military rites were provided by American Legion Post #46 and VFW Post #1112 of Little Falls.
Herman was born June 18, 1923, in Little Falls to Michael and Helen (Sis) Eidenshink. He served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He was united in marriage with Eleanore Knopik at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Little Falls. Herman was a co-owner and worked at Jetka Hardware for 38 years. He was a member of American Legin Post #46, and VFW Post #1112, anda member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanore of Little Falls; son, John and wife Rhonda of Fergus Falls, MN; grandchildren, Alysa and Ashtyn of Fergus Falls and sisters, Mary Jensen, Hildy Brastad and Florence Brastad, all of Little Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
Casketbearers were Galen Knopik, Bobby, Jeff and Tommy Brastad, Patrick Kuffel and Mark Selinski.
Lillian Pigman
Lillian V. Pigman, age 92, a resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Cushing, MN, died April 11, 1998, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held April 14 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Rev. Suzanne Cekalla officiating. Burial was in the Union Cemetery in Cushing.
Lillian was born April 5, 1906, in Cushing Township, MN, to the late Andrew J. and Amanda C. (Nordlund) Sundquist. She grew up on a farm 1.5 miles south of Cushing and attended School District #106. Lillian was united in marriage to Earl C. Pigman on October 1, 1930, at the Bethel Lutheran Church parsonage in Little Falls. The couple resided on the family farm near Cushing and later at Lake Alexander. They owned and operated the Standard Oil Station in Cushing for many years, until retiring in the late 1960s. Lillian served on the Cushing School Board and was a Cushing election judge. She was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Cushing where she was church organist and sang in the choir. Lillian was also a member of the Ladies Aid, Cushing Women’s Club and the Cushing Community Club. She enjoyed, along with her brother and others, playing mandolin for community events. She enjoyed working outdoors and gardening. In her later years, Lillian refinished furniture which can be found in homes throughout Minnesota and beyond.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanette Warner and husband Art of Little Falls; grandchildren, Stacy Warner and husband Jerome Salitros of Kailua, HI, Rev. Jill Warner of International Falls, MN, Glenys Warner of Little Falls and Erik Warner and wife Mary of Little Falls and great-grandchildren, Rianna, Ariel and Samuel Warner-Kelash and Ian, Olivia and Sebastian Warner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl on August 2, 1984; parents and brother, Axel Sundquist.
Robert Watkins
Robert “Bob” Hezekiah Watkins, a resident of Fort Dodge, IA, died April 7, 1998, at Trinity Regional Hospital.
Services were held April 10 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Allen E. Hermeier officiating. Burial was in Memorial Pak Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post 1856.
Robert was born January 5, 1922, in Asheville, NC, where he attended school. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and fought in Normandy, France, and the Ardennes, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the American Theater Medal, the Eamet Campaign Medal with Five Bronze Stars, the Victory Medal and several others. He was honorably discharged in 1945, and moved back to North Carolina. In 1963, he moved to Fort Dodge, where he worked for Becker’s Roofing. In 1967, he married Nina Erickson in Webster City. After their marriage, the couple lived in Fort Dodge where he worked in the Boston Store furniture department until retiring in 1986. He cared for his wife Nina until her death. In 1996, he married Velda Louise Miner in Fort Dodge, where they lived. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Golden K. Kiwanis Club, Fort Dodge.
Survivors include wife Velda of Ford Dodge; stepdaughter, Mar-lene Berte of Fort Dodge; stepsons, Al Erickson of Little Falls, MN, Darwin Erickson of Lake Havasu City, AZ, David Erickson of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, and Harland Erickson of Mill Creek, WA; sons, Ronald and Gary, both of Ohio, Hezekiah Robert, Jr., of Arizona; daughter, Sherry Dawn of Stillion, OH; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brothers, John, Jr., of Bastic, NC, and Charles of Asheville, NC, and sisters, Ruby Flick of Lockport, NY, Ruth Pack and Edith Fowler, both of Lareniore, NC, Dora Watkins of Hendersonville, NC, and Nellie Jackson of Greenville, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Baptist and Dovie Mae Revis Watkins and first wife, Nina in 1992.
Gerald Schneider
Gerald H. Schneider, age 48, a resident of Holdingford, MN, died April 12, 1998, at the North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale, MN, from injuries received in a farm tractor-semi truck accident near South Haven, MN, on March 29, 1998.
Funeral services were held April 15 at St. Lawrence’s Catholic Church in Duelm, MN.
Gerald was born December 20, 1949, in St. Cloud, MN, to Victor and Hildegard (Donabauer) Schneider. Gerald had been employed in general production at the Frigidaire Company in St. Cloud for 30 years. Gerald was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local #623. He also farmed most of his life in Holdingford.
Survivors include his parents of Foley, MN; sisters and brothers, Barb Pappenfus of St. Cloud, Dorothy Ridge of Coon Rapids, MN, Victoria Corrigan of Foley, Julie Voigt of Pearl Lake, MN, Rosemary Hommerding of Sartell, MN, Richard of Foley and Roger of Bowlus. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Joyce Beumer of Holdingford.
Joseph Rodrigues
Joseph Adam Rodrigues, age 14, a resident of rural Motley, MN, died April 10, 1998, at North Memorial Hospital in Minnea-polis, MN.
Funeral services were April 15 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, MN, with Father Lauren Germann officiating. Burial followed in Esterday Cemetery.
Joseph Adam Rodrigues was born on February 7, 1984, in Artesia, CA, son of Ralph L. and Sheila (Bandy) Rodrigues. He grew up in California and moved to Staples with his family at an early age. He was currently in the seventh grade at the Staples-Motley Middle School. Joseph enjoyed various sports, especially football. He loved to ride bike and eat. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.
Survivors include his parents, Sheila and Lewis Whelan of rural Motley, and Ralph L. Rodrigues of West Plains, MO; four brothers, Mario Rodrigues, Ralph “J.R.” Rodrigues, and Lewis A. Whelan II all at home, and Mathew Rodri-gues of West Plains.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis A. Whelan; twin sisters, Brittany and Christie Whelan; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Virgil Golden
Virgil Golden, age 69, a resident of Rice, MN, died on April 11, 1998 at St. CloudState Hospital.
Funeral services were held April 14 at Alliance Church in Sauk Rapids, MN. Burial was in MN State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
Virgil was born in Smith Center, KS, on August 11, 1928, to Clarence and Effie (Logan) Golden. He has lived in Rice since 1958 and was self-employed as a Christmas tree farmer until retiring in 1995. He was a member of Alliance Church in Sauk Rapids and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his brother, Gerald Golden of Rice and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jim Schlan-gen, Bob Steckling, Harry Scott, Troy Bondy, Veryl Fenlason and Don Fenlason.
Sylvia Roscoe
Sylvia Roscoe, age 80, a resident of rural Brainerd, MN, died April 10, 1998, at St. Mary’s Villa in Pierz.
Sylvia Roscoe was born in Brainerd on November 8, 1917, to Joseph and Anna (Hovilia) Hill. She had been a lifetime area resident. She married Lawrence H. Roscoe in Brainerd. Lawrence died in 1976.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry Roscoe of Brainerd and Richard Roscoe of Missoula, MT; two grandchildren, Mara and Kyle Roscoe; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her husband and several brothers and sisters.
Graveside services were April 15, at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
John Patyk
John Patyk, age 81, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died April 14, 1998, at his residence in Little Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 18 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Harold Kost officiating. Burial was at Our Lady of Lourdes parish cemetery.
John was born June 9, 1916, in Little Falls to the late Adam and Mary (Yendraszak) Patyk. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School and Little Falls High School. John married La Verne Ginter on July 17, 1945, in Little Falls. He served with the U.S. Army in Europe and North Africa during WWII, and was honorably dischargedon August 21, 1945. He was employed at Victor Clothing Company in 1949 until he retired in 1978. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and loved being with his family and friends. John enjoyed bowling, being outdoors, especially walking and gardening. He served his parish faithfully throughout his lifetime. He was a life member of American Legion Post 46, VFW Post 1112, DAV Chapter 12 and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Wells and husband Dave of White Bear Lake, MN, Mary Hofstetter and husband Ken of Paradise Valley, AZ, and Terry Witt and husband Ron of Little Falls; brothers, Leonard of Spokane, WA, Edward of Sauk Centre, MN, Stanley of Sauk Centre, and Chester of Minneapolis; sisters, Eleanore Zak of Minneapolis, Delores Hoberg of Preston, MN, Mary Ann Buckner of San Jose, CA, Joan Wadsworth of Brookings, OR and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaVerne; son, Tommy; half-sister, Frances Bajinski and sisters, Irene Ronketti and Helen LeDoux.
Casketbearers were his grandchildren, Mark, John, Michael, Matthew and Katie Wells and Julie and Christopher Witt.
