Marion Watson
Marion Watson, age 82, a resident of St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN, formerly of Minneapolis, MN, died June 27, 1998, in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held July 1 at Hillside Memorium Chapel in Minneapolis. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet (Ronald) Boos; grandchildren, Toni, Brett and Jay; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mable Kotzea; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, George Watson; sisters, Gladys Smith and Grace Sjerven.

Rose Miller
Rose Miller, a resident of Albany, MN, formerly of Holdingford, MN, died April 21, 1998, at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany.
Funeral services were held April 27 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
Rose was born in Freeport, MN, to John B. and Mary Josephine (Bischoff) Klasen. She marred Stanley Miller in 1926 in St. Paul. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford, and the Holdingford Christian Mothers. She was a Red Cross volunteer and a volunteer librarian at Whitney Senior Center. She also volunteered for the Holdingford Blood Bank and Community Chest (United Way). She and her husband owned Miller’s Cash and Carry Grocery Store in St. Paul for 25 years.
Survivors include children, Helen Richard of Burtrum, MN, and Mark of North Platte, NE; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brothers and sisters, Marcella of Holdingford, Mary Haney of North Brook, IL, Quirren of Dalton, GA, Leona Schultz of Sauk Centre, MN, and Dorrine Solberg of Minnesota Light and Power Company, homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as well as facelifts and designs tothe many buildings in the downtown area of Little Falls. Marcel was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, Knights of Columbus of which he was a 4th degree Knight, National Home Builders Association, Little Falls Exchange Club, Little Falls Chamber of Commerce, Republican Party where he served as Sixth District Chairperson, former member of the Little Falls Industrial Development Board and was very active as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, traveling, bird watching, gardening and his life-long hobby of reading.
Survivors include his wife, Mryl; son, Thomas M. LaFond and wife Bonnie of Cannon Falls, MN; daughter, Mary LaFond-Swanton of Baudette, MN; brother, Dr. Edward LaFond and wife Laura Jane of St. Joseph, MN; sister, Collete Minnesota and was united in marriage to Harold “Nub” Hedin on June 25, 1947, in Sisseton, S.D. The couple were lifelong residents of Pillsbury where they owned and operated the Pillsbury Pavilion until 1966. Doris then worked as a part-time bartender at the Swanville Municipal Liquor Store, now Shooter’s Pub, until the time of her death. Everyone loved to visit with Doris and hear her charming British accent. She enjoyed bird watching, knitting, crocheting, growing flowers, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. All of her family enjoyed camping with Doris. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville and enjoyed volunteer work there.
Survivors include her son, Howard J. Hedin and wife Cheryl of Pillsbury; daughters, Irene Allord and husband Richard of Coon Rapids, MN, Janet Berge and husband Kenneth of Swanville; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold ‘Nub’ Hedin on October 21, 1995; parents; brother, Percy Hoare and a sister, Ethel Knight.
Pallbearers were Bradley and Lance Hedin, Scott Heger, Jeremy Peterson, Robert and Jeffrey Allord.

Gary Lee Christopher, Sr.
Gary Lee Christopher, Sr., age 51, a resident of rural Long Prairie, formerly of Madison, MN, died May 23, 1998, in Madison.
Funeral services were held May 27 at Zion Lutheran Church in Browerville, MN, with Rev. John Dalen officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Browerville.
Gary Lee Christopher was born March 21, 1947, in Madison to Arthur and Victoria (Schuver) Christopher. Gary was raised in Bellingham, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bellingham. He graduated from Bellingham High School and attended Alexandria Vocational School. He married Verna Miller on July 27, 1966, in Bessemer, MI. He served in the Marine Corp and the Marine Corps Reserve from 1966 - 1985, and was stationed in North Carolina and Cuba. He was a boilermaker for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, woodworking, collecting baseball cards, antiques, Beanie Babies and Hotwheels.
Survivors include his wife, Verna of Long Prairie; children, Kelly (Paul) Johnson of Browerville, Gary, Jr. (Shannon) of Svea, MN, Kimberly (Mike) Line of Browerville and Greg of Long Prairie; grandchildren, Kenley and Benton Johnson, Parker Township, for 35 yearsuntil retiring in 1969 to Little Falls. Hazel worked in Little Falls at Munsingwear for six years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery and cross stitch and cooking. She lovingly made quiltsfor every member of her family. Hazel was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Zion Quilting Club, Zion Mission Circle and the TX, and Violet Hoveland of Mesa, AZ;and grandchildren, Sarah Eckblad and fianceé Cameron Johnson of Minneapolis, MN, Kristen Yocum and husband, Jon of St. Paul, MN, and Jonathan Eckblad of Duluth, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Galliher; and sisters, Irene Simonson, Hester Johnson and Margaret Johnson.
Pallbearers were Tony Wenzel, Louis Doucette, Robert Bertsch, Robert Riitters, Lorence Eckblad and Elmer Johnson.

Margaret T. Dobis
Margaret T. Dobis, died May 27, 1998, at the Country Manor Health Care and Retirement Center in Sartell, MN.
Funeral services were held May 30 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Anna, MN. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Margaret Dobis was born June 4, 1918, in Elmdale, MN, to Phillip and Mary (Schitchta) Koroll. She married Albert Dobis October 9, 1945, in St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Elmdale. She was a member of of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Anna and Christian Mothers. She farmed in the St. Anna area with her husband for 40 years.
Survivors include her husband of Avon, MN; sons and daughters, LeRoy of Avon, Carol Lammers of Moorhead, Vernon of Fargo, ND, Allan of Avon and Jane Fischer of Avon; nine grandchildren and one sister, Agnes Knopik of Little Falls, MN.
She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Stanley, Peter, Mike and Roman and two sisters, Mary Schmidt Woitalla and Albina Woitalla.

Marion E. Bono
Marion Ellen Bono, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, formerly of the Randall, MN, area, died May 18, 1998, in Minneapolis.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Church of St. Albert the Great on May 21 with Rev. Tom Poulsen, O.P., officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park.
Marion was born October 22, 1925, in Randall to Ernest and Louise (Griffen) Andres. She grew up in the Randall area where she attended school and graduated from the Little Falls High School. On July 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to Louis Bono in Valleho, CA. After their marriage they lived in Randall for a brief period before moving to Minneapolis where she lived until her death. Marion was a loving and caring wife, mother, relative, and friend. She touched many lives: motherless children, lonely persons living alone, and anyone needing help. She also visited many sick and elderly people through the years. Marion’s volunteer efforts included St. Albert’s Church and being a teacher’s assistant at the parish school. She helped countless other children through her many years of work with the Minneapolis Chapter of the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities and had served as president. She was a recipient of the WCCO Good Neighbor Award. She was later involved in the AIDS Aliveness Project and the AIDS Home Project. In the last three years of her illness, she crocheted 87 afgans and gave most of them to relatives and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Louie; sons, Lawrence and wife Chrisanne, Robert and wife Susanne and James and wife Melissa of Minneapolis and Steven and wife Denise; daughters, Elizabeth Bono and Kathleen Bredy and husband Larry of Minneapolis; brothers and sisters Eleanor Hines and husband Vernon of Randall, Bernard and wife Winnie of Corcoran, Wally of Farmington and Dorothy Newcomb and husband Jim of Zimmerman, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin daughters, Marilyn and Marlene; son, William; brothers, Harold and Lawrence; and sister, Elizabeth.
Pallbearers were Rick, Bob and Andy Andres, Fred Campas, Craig Walters and Patty Roth.

Beatrice ‘Bee’ Raster
Beatrice “Bee” Raster, age 95, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died May 27, 1998, at St. Otto’s Health Care Center in Little Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Nick Landsberger officiating. Interment was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Beatrice was born May 15, 1903, in Cushing, MN, to Joseph and Mary (Gorman) Houston. She was united in marriage to Matt Raster June 27, 1931, in Pontiac, MI. She taught school for 30 years and was at Our Lady of Lourdes School for 14 years. Bea was very involved with the DFL.
Survivors include two sisters, Helyn Hoffstedt of Little Falls and Margaret Herum of St. Otto’s Health Care Center in Little Falls; one brother, Walter Houston of Denver, CO, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1967 and five brothers.
