Mrs. Sharp was a founding member of the Christian Union (Open Bible) Church of Hamilton and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
On May 26, 1963, she married John N. Sharp in National City, Massachusetts, and James C. Altman, Atlanta; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Charles W. Simpson
1944-1999
Charles W. "Chuck'' Simpson, 55, St. Joseph, died Sunday, May 16, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital after a brief illness of cancer.
Mr. Simpson was employed in the automobile service industry for many years, most recently with Greg Motors of St. Joseph.
Born in Kansas City on Feb. 17, 1944, he was reared in Mission, Kan., and moved to St. Joseph 25 years ago.
He graduated from the Shawnee Mission North High School and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Mr. Simpson was of the Methodist faith.
On July 7, 1986, he married Chris Gallus in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.
Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Sr. and Bertha M.; and a half brother, John.
Additional survivors: a daughter, Rochelle Rhea, Vandalia, Mo.; a sister, Lois J. McIlvaine, Mission; two half sisters, Florence McKaughan, Kansas City, and Betty Decker, Liberty, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. The body will be cremated following the service. Visitation: after 2 p.m. today, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight. Memorials may be made to the United Way of Greater St. Joseph or Humane Society.
Isabel Tanking

SENECA, Kan. -- Isabel "Belle" (Morrison) Tanking, 89, Seneca, died Saturday, May 15, 1999, at a Seneca health-care center.
Mrs. Tanking was a checkout clerk and worked in the meat department at the A & P store in Seneca for several years.
Born Jan. 10, 1910, southwest of Centralia, Kan., Mrs. Tanking was a graduate of Seneca High School.
On Sept. 13, 1929, she married Albert B. Tanking in Seneca. He died in 1971.
Mrs. Tanking also was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Morrison; two brothers, Patrick and William Morrison; and four sisters, Iona Morrison, Pearl Malloy, Tennie Hartman, and Jenny Craft.
Surviving: nieces and nephews, including Lorene Lambert and Arthur Malloy, both of Topeka, Kan.
Graveside service and burial: 10:30 a.m. today, Seneca City Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Arrangements: Lauer Funeral Home, Seneca. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Waive L. Weldon
1899-1999
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. -- Waive Lou (Stark) Weldon, 100, Leavenworth, formerly of St. Joseph, died Saturday, May 15, 1999, at a hospital in Leavenworth.
Mrs. Weldon and her husband, Fred, owned and operated Weldon's Service Station at Car Town in St. Joseph for many years. She had also worked at Einbender's women's clothing store and J.C. Penney, both of St. Joseph, until retiring in 1965.
Born in Ford City, Mo., on April 24, 1899, she had been a resident of Leavenworth for 24 years.
On Jan. 23, 1937, she married Fred C. Weldon in Platte City, Mo. He is deceased.
Mrs. Weldon also was preceded in death by her parents, Elisha and Missouri State University at Maryville, Mo. Mrs. Winn was a member of the First Christian Church and Chapter DF of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, both of Plattsburg.
On May 22, 1929, she married Perry R. Winn Sr. He is deceased.
Mrs. Winn also was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Jessie Harmer; a brother, Matthew Harmer; and two grandchildren.
Surviving: a son, Perry Jr., Plattsburg; two daughters, Mary Jo Bartlett, Santa Ana, Colo., Charles, Merridan, Kan., Ernie, Circleville, Kan., and Lanny, Holton, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Richard C. Kiefer

NEWTON, Kan. -- Richard Clarence Kiefer, 76, Newton, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at a Wichita, Kan., hospital.
Mr. Kiefer, born in Horton, Kan., on April 11, 1923, had been an optician, and fabricated lens and glasses for several optical companies until retiring. He also had lived in Muscotah, Kan.
On Feb. 12, 1944, he married Lorene Waters in Holton, Kan. She survives of the home.
Mr. Kiefer also was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary; and a brother, Dale.
Additional survivors: two sons, Charles, Haysville, Kan., and Kenneth, Sedgwick, Kan.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Beulah Lenke

Beulah (Bower) Lenke, 80, St. Joseph, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mrs. Lenke had been employed as an operator for AT&T for 20 years until retiring.
Born in Hemple, Mo., on Sept. 13, 1918, she had lived in the St. Joseph area and later in Menagha, Minn., for several years. She was a high school graduate and of the Christian faith.
Mrs. Lenke was preceded in death by her first husband, John R. Thompson; her second husband, Donald Lenke; her parents, Frank and Minnie Bower; and a sister, Margie Miller.
Surviving: a son, Gary Thompson, Marshall, Minn.; two brothers, Dale Bower, Easton, Mo., and Glenn Bower, Hemple; two sisters, Oregon, Mo., and Judy McCann, Madison, Mo.; two sons, James, Murphysboro, Ill., and William, Marsailles, Ill.; a brother, Henry, St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Wilma Woodall, Galveston, Texas; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Rex Riley Meneely, 79, Chillicothe, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at a Chillicothe health-care center.
Mr. Meneely had been a salesman for Churchhill Truck Lines for 25 years, John Deere for three years, and Cooke Sales, all of Chillicothe, for 10 years; and at Firestone.
Born in Meadville, Mo., on Aug. 10, 1919, he had lived in Chillicothe for most of his life. He also had resided in Calif.; three daughters, Beverly Brown, Kansas City, Pat Reeter, Chillicothe, and Linda Lionberger, Savannah, Mo.; two brothers, Lenos, Meadville, and Howard, Chillicothe; two sisters, Betty Maxwell, Independence, Mo., and Kathryn Gooch, Meadville; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Edna L. Norrie

SABETHA, Kan. Edna L. (Fairbanks) Norrie, 98, Sabetha, died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at a health-care center in Sabetha.
Mrs. Norrie had taught and was principal of a junior high school in Dunlap, Nebraska, having moved there from Iowa, where she was graduated from high school.
She attended Iowa, for two years.
On May 27, 1923, she married Clarence Norrie of Sabetha. He died in 1980. In 1991, she became a resident of a health-care center in Sabetha.
Mrs. Norrie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sabetha, where she taught Sunday School and held several offices; and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a charter member of the D.S.R. Club.
Mrs. Norrie also was preceded in death by her parents, DeHart and Fannie Fairbanks; and five brothers, Leon, Claude, Clyde, Earl and Harry Fairbanks.
Surviving: a daughter, Lorea L. Blair, Lincoln, Neb.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
