Huston H. Nuckolls
1955-1999
WESTBORO, Mo. - Huston Herbert ``Duke'' Nuckolls, 43, Westboro, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Nuckolls, a farmer all of his adult life, had lived and farmed in the Westboro area. He also served on the Westboro Volunteer Fire Department.
Born in Fairfax, Mo., on Oct. 18, 1955, he was a graduate of the Tarkio high school.
Mr. Nuckolls was a member of the Westboro United Methodist Church, where he served on the board and was a leader for the Methodist Youth Fellowship. He also was a member of the Tarkio Golf Club, of which he was a former board member; and a former member of the Westboro Lions Club. He volunteered as a coach for basketball and Little League Baseball.
On Nov. 24, 1973, he married Denise L. Davidson in Tarkio. She survives of the home.
Mr. Nuckolls was preceded in death by his father, Huston H.; paternal grandparents, O.V. and Anna Nuckolls; and maternal grandparents, Herbert and Ruth Erickson.
Additional survivors: two sons, H. Heath, Kansas City, and T. Brock of the home; a daughter, Jodi D. Nuckolls of the home; his mother, D. Jacqueline Nuckolls, Tarkio; three sisters, Debbie Honan, Elmo, Mo., Teresa Hogue, Westboro, and Melody Barnett, Tarkio; and a grandchild.
Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, United Methodist Church, Westboro. Burial: Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro. Family visitation: 7 to 8 tonight, at the Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Memorials may be made to the Duke Nuckolls Memorial Fund or Westboro United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.

Margaret R. Pierce
1920-1999
STANBERRY, Mo. - Margaret Ruth (Cain) Pierce, 79, Stanberry, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at her home.
Born in Stanberry on Jan. 17, 1920, Mrs. Pierce, a homemaker, was a member of the First Baptist Church, Stanberry; and Missouri Master Alpha Delta sorority.
On Dec. 25, 1940, she married Garland Pierce in San Diego, Calif. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her parents, Grover C. and Rebecca Cain; and a brother, Jay Cain.
Additional survivors: a son, Garland R. Jr., Alpine, Calif.; a daughter, Betty L. McCully, Belton, Mo.; a brother, Jean R. Cain, Maryville, Mo.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, First Baptist Church, Stanberry. Graveside service and burial: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Hall Cemetery, Stanberry. Visitation: after 3 p.m. today, at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Stanberry, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight.

Wallace B. Rix
1925-1999
GOWER, Mo. - Wallace B. Rix, 73, Gower, formerly of Plattsburg, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at a health-care center in Gower.
Mr. Rix had worked for the Wilson Food Co. in Kansas City for six years. Then he was transferred to Monmouth, Ill., as a traffic manager for 27 years until retiring in 1985. He also served in the Navy during World War II.
Born in Waukegan, Ill., on May 3, 1925, he moved with his family to Kansas City, Kan., where he was graduated from the Wyandotte High School.
He was a member of the Kansas City, Kan., Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M.; and American Legion.
On April 14, 1956, he married Patricia J. Little. She survives of the home.
Mr. Rix was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Hazel; and an infant brother.
Additional survivors: a son, Michael R., Kansas City, Mo.; four daughters, Wanda L. Franklin, Edwardsville, Kan., Cindy Swob, Bashor, Kan., Rebecca R. Streetman, Hosuton, Texas, and Linda J. Johnson, Linwood, Kan.; and a sister, Frances Hacker, Kansas City, Kan.
Graveside service and burial: 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Leavenworth, Kan., National Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements: Cox Funeral Home, Plattsburg. Memorials may be made to the Broadway United Methodist Church, Plattsburg.

Rex Walker
1931-1999
STANBERRY, Mo. - Rex Walker, 67, Stanberry, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at the Albany, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Walker, a farmer, was a former Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service county committeeman. He also served in the Army during the Korean War.
Born in Stanberry on June 21, 1931, he was a Pioneer sales representative and a member of the Saddle Club. He also was active in Little League Baseball.
On March 29, 1959, he married Marjorie D. Burrows in Stanberry. She survives of the home.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony G. and Laura G. Walker.
Additional survivors: two daughters, Dianna L. Lawson and Sharon K. Luke, both of Cameron, Mo.; a son, Rodney R., Weatherby, Mo.; a sister, Margie Deering, Helena, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Service: 9 a.m. Thursday, Roberson-Polley Chapel, Stanberry. Burial: Highridge Cemetery, Stanberry. Visitation: after 3 p.m. today, at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight.

V. Elizabeth Bangerter
1911-1999
V. Elizabeth (Wing) Bangerter, 87, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Bangerter was the editor for five years of the newspaper Winners of the West, a monthly paper for veterans of the Indian Wars, their widows and other survivors. In 1938, she purchased the paper and served as publisher for seven years.
She helped write a book on the Indian Wars.
Born in St. Joseph on Oct. 25, 1911, she was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. Mrs. Bangerter was a graduate of Central High School and St. Joseph Junior College. She earned a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
She was a member of the South Park Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association, holding various offices. Mrs. Bangerter also was a den mother for Boy Scout Troop No. 12 at Mitchell Park Christian Church.
She also was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday school teacher; Swiss Lodge Auxiliary; Ladies Edelweiss Society; Refrigeration Services Engineers Society Auxiliary and So-Dance Married Couples Club of the Y.M.C.A.
On June 6, 1942, she married Frederick S. Bangerter in St. Joseph. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Bangerter also was preceded in death by a son, Robert F.; her parents, Logan E. Wing Sr. and Amy Wing; a brother, Kenneth T. Wing; and two sisters, Eva L. Colt and Ruth A. Wing.
Additional survivors: three sons, William O. and Richard L., both of St. Joseph, and James A., Annapolis, Md.; a brother, Logan E. Wing Jr.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. Burial: Ashland Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital of St. Louis or a charity of the donor's choice.

Preston C. Bell
1919-1999
DENVER -- Preston C. Bell, 79, Denver, formerly of Atchison, Kan., died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, in Denver.
Born Dec. 17, 1919, in Atchison, Mr. Bell was a welding specialist in California during World War II. After returning to Atchison, he was employed at the Rockwell International Co. until retiring in 1982.
Following his retirement, he worked as a welding instructor at the Northeast Kansas Vocational Technical School, Atchison, until moving to Denver in 1988. In Denver, he was employed at the Denver Visitors Bureau and Convention Center.
Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his parents, George and Flora; and a sister, Margaret Bell-Oaks.
Surviving: his wife, Yvonne, of the home; three daughters, Quintanilla Bartlett and Stephanie Barnes, both of Denver, and Sheila Carey, Escondido, Calif.; two sons, Perry D., Denver, and Preston C. Jr., Los Angeles; two sisters, Dardnella Williams, New Haven, Conn., and Wilma Young, Kansas City; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Service: 1 p.m. today, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Atchison. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison. Family visitation: noon to 1 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements: Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison.

Ren E. Easum
1908-1999
BETHANY, Mo. -- Ren Edgar Easum, 90, Bethany, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at a Bethany health-care center.
Mr. Easum worked in the oil fields in Kansas, and owned and operated the Easum Drilling Service in Cainsville, Mo. He also farmed until retiring in 1996.
Born in Woodson County, Kan., on Dec. 20, 1908, he lived in Yates Center and Elk County, Kan., until moving to the Cainsville area in 1949. He was a resident of Bethany for a year. He attended the rural Keck School in Woodson County.
Mr. Easum was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church, Cainsville; and a former member of the Lindley Township Board and Central School Board District, both of Saline, Mo.
On Oct. 18, 1936, he married Lilly M. Weide in Yates Center. She died in 1989.
Mr. Easum also was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Julie E.; and three brothers, Max, James and Charles.
Surviving: a son, Dale E., Cainsville; a daughter, Marilyn A. Bruse, Princeton, Mo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Stoklasa Memorial Chapel, Cainsville. Burial: Fairview Cemetery, Cainsville. Visitation: after noon Friday at the funeral chapel, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Fairview Cemetery in care of David George, 1311 Vine St., Cainsville, MO 64632.

Mary N. Flattre
1909-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. -- Mary N. (Barker) McCalla Flattre, 89, Atchison, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at an Atchison health-care center.
Mrs. Flattre worked at several factories, including Wilson Poultry, Fitz Overall Co. and Atchison Leather Products, all of Atchison. She and her husband, Clyde Flattre, also owned and operated the Flattre Trailer Park.
Born Dec. 12, 1909, in Atchison, she attended Atchison public schools.
Mrs. Flattre was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles McCalla, in 1949; her second husband, Clyde Flattre, in 1987; her parents, Leonard and Olive Barker; two brothers, James and Raymond Barker; and a sister, Della M. Franzel.
Surviving: two brothers, Leonard Barker, Atchison, and Lee R. Barker, Midwest City, Okla.; and a sister, Gladys V. Franzel, Atchison.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Burial: Lancaster (Kan.) Cemetery. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Cray Senior Manor, Atchison.

Mary T. Forbis
1908-1999
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Mary T. (Timbrook) Bowman Forbis, 90, Chillicothe, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at a Chillicothe hospital.
Mrs. Forbis worked for many years as a bookkeeper in Durango, Colo., for the J.C. Penney Co.
Born July 25, 1908, in Livingston County, Mo., she was a graduate of the St. Joseph Academy.
Mrs. Forbis was preceded in death by her first husband, Marion B. Bowman; her second husband, N.R. Forbis; and her parents, Roy and Nell Timbrook.
Surviving: a son, Albert R. Bowman, Kingman, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside memorial service and inurnment: 10:30 a.m. today, Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe. The body has been cremated. Visitation: after 8:30 a.m. today, Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe.

Jean Hayes
1914-1999
Jean Hayes, 84, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center after a brief illness.
Born in St. Joseph on Nov. 2, 1914, Mrs. Hayes was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.
Surviving: a son, Roger Genolfo, Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Private family service and inurnment will be held. The body has been cremated. Arrangements: Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph.

Letha E. Keller
1905-1999
SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Letha E. (Baker) Keller, 93, Savannah, formerly of St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at a Savannah health-care center after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Keller was a bank teller for the Empire Trust, Tootle-Lemon Bank and American National Bank, all of St. Joseph, for 27 years until retiring at age 65.
Born in Easton, Mo., on Sept. 29, 1905, she moved to St. Joseph in 1920 and lived in Savannah since 1983.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and a former member of Radiant chapter No. 88, Order of the Eastern Star, both of St. Joseph.
On Nov. 11, 1923, she married Arthur J. Keller in St. Joseph. He died in 1973.
Mrs. Keller also was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph W. and Lucy Baker; four brothers, Stanley C., Victor, John and Peter Baker; a sister, Annie Ellis; and a great-grandchild.
Surviving: a daughter, Imogene L. Kellogg, Savannah; a brother, Maynard L. Baker, Stewartsville, Mo.; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in care of the Moila Shrine Temple.

Goldburn F. Kimbrough
1905-1999
HAMILTON, Mo. --- Goldburn Frank "Goby" Kimbrough, 93, Hamilton, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the Cameron, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Kimbrough was born in Manes, Mo., on Oct. 7, 1905. He had lived in Caldwell County, Mo., most of his life.
A businessman, he dealt in antiques since 1947. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton.
In 1934, he married Mary Tuggle in Plattsburg, Mo. She died in 1993.
Mr. Kimbrough also was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosalie Axon.
Surviving: two sons, John, Kansas City, and Jerry, Hamilton; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 2 p.m. Sunday, Highland Cemetery, Hamilton. Family visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday.

Drexel Lewis
1945-1999
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Drexel Lewis, 54, Maryville, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at a Maryville hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Lewis was born in Nodaway County, Mo., on Jan. 30, 1945. He worked at the Nodaway County Sheltered Workshop and was a member of the First Christian Church, both in Maryville.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Mile F. and Helen.
Surviving: his stepmother, Betty Lewis, Tarkio, Mo.; six sisters, Carol Jean Hines, Barnard, Mo., Shirley Lewis, Sidney, Iowa, Patty and Tammy Lewis, both of Rock Port, Mo., Becky Jo Chard, and Joy R. Barton; and three brothers, Gary Kelley, Larry Lewis, St. Joseph, and Bill Lewis, Auburn, Neb.
Service: 2 p.m. Friday, First Christian Church, Maryville. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Parnell, Mo. Visitation: 5 to 6 p.m. today at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
