Joseph W. Goodin
1913-1999
PLATTE CITY, Mo. -- Joseph W. Goodin, 85, Platte City, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at a Platte City health-care center.
Mr. Goodin served as chief petty officer in the Seabees during World War II. He also was a scout leader in Platte City for many years, for which he was awarded the Boy Scouts of America Scouter Award..
He was born on Dec. 20, 1913, in Platte City.
Mr. Goodin was a member of the United Methodist Church, Easton, Kan.; Platte City Masonic Lodge No. 504, A.F. & A.M; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4055.
On Feb. 13, 1934, he married Elva Woolston in Platte City. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors: two sons, Robert D., Leavenworth, Kan., and Randy J., Platte City; a brother, Carl, Platte City; a sister, Thelma Wagle, Leavenworth; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Rollins Funeral Home, Platte City. Burial: Platte City Cemetery. Family visitation: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.

Howard B. Iba
1906-1999
Howard B. Iba, 92, St. Joseph, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Iba played basketball with Wichita, Kan., Henry's AAU National Basketball Championship Team during the 1930-31 season. He coached basketball at Conception, Mo., from 1931-1935, and at Olathe, Kan., from 1936 to 1941. In 1941 he moved to St. Joseph and began work as a teacher and head basketball coach at Central High School. He continued until his retirement in 1969. He also served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Iba was born Dec. 15, 1906, in Easton, Mo. He was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, Maryville, Mo., where he was captain of the college basketball team. He later received his master's degree in physical education from Colorado State University-Greeley.
Coach Iba was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1992, and the Northwest Missouri State Hall of Fame in 1993.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon for three years. He also was a member of Charity Lodge No. 331 A.F. & A.M., a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Moila Temple Shrine. He was a life member of the National Education Association and had been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
On June 12, 1933, he married Vivian B. Kimball in St. Joseph, She survives of the home.
Mr. Iba was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Zylfa; two brothers, Clarence V. and Henry P.; a sister, Lucille Gawatz.
Additional survivors: a brother, Earl L., Tigard, Ore.
Service: noon Monday, First Presbyterian Church, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight.. Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Noyes Home, both of St. Joseph.

Frederick W. Krueger
1931-1999
PLATTSBURG, Mo. -- Frederick W. Krueger, 67, Plattsburg, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at a Liberty, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Krueger worked as an accountant for Trans World Airlines, Kansas City, until retiring in 1993. He also served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Born Oct. 5, 1931, in Washington, Kan., he lived in the Plattsburg area for approximately 30 years.
Mr. Krueger was a member of the Methodist faith. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Stewartsville, Mo.
Surviving: his wife, Madeline, of the home; a son, Mike, Gower, Mo.; two stepsons, Dennis Parr, Plattsburg, and Lanny Parr, Stockton, Mo.; five stepdaughters, Laura McKenery, Oceanside, Calif., Sandra Parr, Brookfield, Mo., Loretta Davis, St. Joseph, Cindy Parr, Orrick, Mo., and Deena Parr, Plattsburg; two brothers, Donald, Smithville, Mo., and Charles, Buena Vista, Colo.; a sister, LaVeta Zhantial, Overland Park, Kan.; and 24 grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Cox Funeral Home, Plattsburg. Burial: Green Lawn Cemetery, Plattsburg. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Aleen M. Lukon
1919-1999
SMITHVILLE, Mo. -- Aleen Marie (Handly) Lukon, 79, Smithville, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at a hospital in Kansas City.
Mrs. Lukon was employed by Macy's, formerly Old John Taylor's, Kansas City, where she was a cashier until 1953. She also was a Sunday school teacher at the Northern Boulevard Methodist Church, Independence, Mo.
Born June 10, 1919, near Aullville, Mo., she was a graduate of Higginsville (Mo.) High School. Mrs. Lukon lived in Kansas City, Kan., until 1965, when she moved to Smithville.
Mrs. Lukon was a member of the Northern Boulevard Methodist Church and the Smithville First Christian Church. She also was a member of the Tops Club, Smithville.
On June 10, 1953, she married Leonard R. Lukon. In 1965, they founded, owned and operated the Precision Auto Parts and Machine Shop, Smithville. They later sold the business in 1969. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Lukon was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Marie Handly; a brother, Marion Handly; and a sister, Mildred LeVerne.
Additional survivors: two sons, Leonard II, Independence, and John, Norfolk, Neb.; two daughters, Timotheia Haag, Brookfield, Mo., and Sequin Lukon, Alexandria, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Service: 3 p.m. today, First Christian Church, Smithville. Memorial contributions may be sent to the church. Arrangements: Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, Mo.

Elmer C. McMillian
1910-1999
Elmer C. McMillian, 88, St. Joseph, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. McMillian was employed with the former Armour and Co., St. Joseph, for 42 years before retirement.
Born March 23, 1910, in Edgerton, Mo., he resided for most of his life in St. Joseph. During World War II he served with the Army Signal Battalion, receiving three Bronze Stars.
Mr. McMillian was a member of the Agency (Mo.) Christian Church; Cpl. Fred Seifert Post No. 1668, Veterans of Foreign Wars; the Military Order of the Cooties; and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union P-58.
On July 20, 1943, he married Lucille Coy in Troy, Kan. She died in 1997.
Mr. McMillian also was preceded in death by his parents, Cole and Anna; a brother, Bob; two sisters, Grace Newman and Anna Smith; his stepmother, Julia McMillian; and a grandchild.
Surviving: a son, Rick, St. Joseph; two daughters, Jeannette Teem and Barbara Chapman, both of St. Joseph; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, where military rites will be performed. Family visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Agnes M. Moxley
1909-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. -- Agnes M. (Gerardy) Moxley, 89, Atchison, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at an Atchison health-care center.
Mrs. Moxley was a machine operator for Atchison Leather Products until her retirement in the early 1970s.
Born May 16, 1909, in Wathena, Kan., she was a graduate of Doniphan (Kan.) High School. She later moved to Atchison in the late 1920s, where she had lived since.
Mrs. Moxley was a member of the First Christian Church, Atchison, the church sewing group and the What-So-Ever Sunday school class.
On Aug. 27, 1936, she married Howard M. Moxley in Jefferson City, Mo. He died in 1956.
Mrs. Moxley also was preceded in death by a daughter, Marjorie Winger; her parents, Bernard and Elizabeth Gerardy; three brothers, John, Frank and Herman Gerardy; and a sister, Elizabeth Martin.
Surviving: a son, Gary D., Atchison; two brothers, William Gerardy, LaJuanita, Colo., and Edward Gerardy, Kent, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Burial: Mount Vernon Cemetery, Atchison. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Christian Church sewing circle, Atchison, or the Atchison Hospice.

Minnie F. Taylor
1906-1999
BETHANY, Mo. -- Minnie Francis (Moss) Taylor, 92, Bethany, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at a Bethany health-care center.
Mrs. Taylor, a homemaker, was born June 15, 1906, in Cainsville, Mo. She resided in the Cainsville area until moving to Bethany 10 years ago.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Eagle Light No. 449, Eagleville, Mo., and the First Baptist Church, Cainsville.
On Sept. 1, 1925, she married Rex Taylor in Cainsville. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Taylor also was preceded in death by three daughters, Evelyn Jones, Doris Bee and Phyllis Shippen; a son, Everett; and her parents Samuel and Julia Moss.
Surviving a son, Paul, Carrollton, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, Stoklasa Memorial Chapel, Cainsville. Burial: Oaklawn Cemetery, Cainsville. Visitation: after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. tonight. An Order of Eastern Star service is scheduled for 7:30 tonight at the funeral home. Eldon C. Teschner
1920-1999
NIXA, Mo. -- Eldon Curtis Teschner, 78, Nixa, formerly of St. Joseph, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at a Nixa health-care center.
Mr. Teschner, a retired architect, was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Shenandoah, Iowa.
In 1941, he married JoAnn Makos in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Mr. Teschner was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. and Hazel.
Additional survivors: a son, Charles, Forsyth, Mo.; a daughter, Patricia, Mortinez, Calif.; two sisters, Bea Schooler, state of California, and Wilma Myers, state of Iowa; and a grandchild.
The body has been cremated. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements: Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph.

Charles E. McQuitty
1922-1999
Charles E. McQuitty, 77, St. Joseph, died Friday, July 23, 1999, at his home.
Mr. McQuitty had been employed by Armor & Company for many years, where he held numerous positions and retired as office controller. He also served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and retired from the Missouri Air National Guard.
Born May 31, 1922, he lived in St. Joseph most of his life.
Mr. McQuitty was a member of Hyde Valley United Methodist Church; King Hill Lodge No. 376, A.F. & A.M.; Thirty-Second Degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Temple Shrine; and Hi-Twelve Club 49, all of St. Joseph.
On Sept. 25, 1943, he married Elaine R. Klawuhn in St. Joseph. She died in 1997.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde McQuitty and Mabel Lueke.
Surviving: two daughters, Janice Flint and Juli McQuitty, both of St. Joseph; a sister, Betty, Kalamazoo, Mich.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 1 p.m. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, with military rites under the auspices of Pony Express Post No. 359, American Legion. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph.

Harold A. Nixon
1910-1999
MOUND CITY, Mo. -- Harold A. "Jack" Nixon, 89, Mound City, died Friday, July 23, 1999, at a Mound City health-care center.
Mr. Nixon, a farmer, lived and farmed on the same family farm that his grandfather built in 1871, for most of his life.
Born June 22, 1910, near Mound City, he was a graduate of Mound City High School.
Mr. Nixon was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Mound City, and the Mound City Lion's Club.
On Jan. 15, 1936, he married Anna Viets in Craig, Mo. She survives of the home.
Mr. Nixon was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura; four brothers, Ralph, Russell, Roy and Frank; and two sisters, Helen Hicks and a twin sister, Hazel Spencer.
Additional survivors: two daughters, Rae A. Nixon, Kansas City, and Jan Keeler, Independence, Mo.; two sons, John, Ozark, Mo., and Dale, North Kansas City; and two grandchildren.
Service: 10 a.m. Monday, Concordia Lutheran Church, Mound City. Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today, Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home, Mound City, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight. Veda A. Stevens
1926-1999
FALLS CITY, Neb. -- Veda A. (Adams) Stevens, 73, Falls City, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at a Falls City hospital.
Mrs. Stevens worked in the Auburn (Neb.) High School office.
Born May 19, 1926, in Rulo, Neb., she was a graduate of Rulo High School.
Mrs. Stevens was a member of Falls City First Christian Church.
On May 19, 1949, she married Floyd Stevens in Falls City. He survives.
Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael; her parents, Russell S. and Alice S. Adams; and a sister, Bernice Wist.
Additional survivors: a son, Richard, Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Delilah Tisdale, West Palm Beach, Fla.; five brothers, Robert and William Adams, both of Falls City, Frederick Adams, Melrose Park, Ill., Junior Adams, Reserve, Kan., and Roy Adams, Lincoln, Neb.; five sisters, Lucille Janovic, Gretna, Neb., Martha Bearce and Betty Olson, both of Robinson, Kan., Nina Cole, Lincoln, and Judy Miller, Falls City.

Norene Tatum
1916-1999
Norene (Yoder) Tatum, 82, St. Joseph, died Friday, July 23, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born Dec. 21, 1916, in Batesville, Ark., Mrs. Tatum was raised in Osceola, Mo. She was a graduate of Osceola High School.
Mrs. Tatum was a longtime member of Francis Street First United Methodist Church.
On Feb. 1, 1941, she married Murray L. Tatum. He died in 1991.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Nona K.; a son, John S.; her parents, Frank F. and Mary Yoder; a brother, Wilburn S. Yoder; and two sisters; Gladys Johnson and Lorene Fernandez.
Surviving: a daughter, Barbara L. Young, St. Joseph; a son, Douglas Y., Kansas City; and four grandchildren.
Service: 3 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
