Catherine R. Luchsinger
1927-1999
Catherine R. (Quiet) Luchsinger, 71, St. Joseph, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born in Manchester, N.H., on May 6, 1927, Mrs. Luchsinger lived in Germany, Morocco and Nova Scotia. She had been a resident of St. Joseph for the past 30 years. She was a member of the Catholic faith.
On Sept. 6, 1946, she married John C. Luchsinger. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Luchsinger was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Quiet; a brother, Clarence Quiet; and a sister, Mildred Quiet.
Additional survivors: two daughters, Linda Whitman, Livingston, Kan., and Joan Holcomb, Lenexa, Kan.; and five grandchildren.
Service: 9 a.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. Burial: Leavenworth, Kan., National Cemetery. Rosary: 6:30 tonight at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Wanda M. Nelson
1933-1999
SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Wanda Maxine (Bechter) Nelson, 65, Savannah, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Nelson was employed by Ramada Inn and later Sheraton Inn both of Kansas City, Mo., from 1974 to 1982, and by LaVerna Village Nursing Home, Savannah from 1983 until 1993.
Born Oct. 12, 1933, in Andrew County, Mo., she was a graduate of Savannah High School and resided most of her life in Kansas City and Savannah.
Mrs. Nelson was a member of the United Methodist Church of Savannah.
On July 31, 1953, she married Ronald W. Nelson and later divorced.
Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick J. and Elizabeth Bechter; a brother, Harold F. Bechter; and a sister, Kathryne Fellwock.
Surviving: a son, Gregory, W., Kansas City; a daughter, Laura D. Goens, Avondale, Mo.; a brother, Paul Bechter, St. Joseph; three sisters, Esther Kent, St. Joseph, Marilyn Clements, Savannah, and Helen Johnson, Concord, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Breit and Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah. Burial: Savannah (Mo.) Cemetery. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Russel E. Andler
1907-1999
FOREST CITY, Mo. -- Russel E. Andler, 91, Forest City, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at the Fairfax, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Andler, a farmer, was born in Holt County, Mo., on Sept. 7, 1907, and was a lifelong resident of the Benton community in Holt County.
He attended the Benton rural school and Oregon, Mo., high school, and later earned his General Equivalency Degree.
Mr. Andler was a member of the Oregon United Methodist; Masonic Lodge No. 139, A.F. & A.M., Oregon; former Oregon Rough Riders Club and Rough Riders Mounted Drill Team; and Moila Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite Bodies and York Rite Masons, all of St. Joseph.
On May 4, 1932, he married Elma E. Milne. She died in 1981.
Mr. Andler also was preceded in death by his parents, Jerald L. and Bessie E.; a sister, Lenore Andler; a brother, Noel; and a stepgrandchild.
Surviving: a daughter, Ellen Noellsch, Oregon; a brother, Jay, Mound City, Mo.; two sisters, Norma Williams, Savannah, Mo., and Geraldine Ford, Vestal, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, United Methodist Church, Oregon. Burial: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation: after noon today, at the Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Memorials may be made to the Oregon United Methodist Church and Shriners Burn Center for Children.

Marion W. Boswell
1927-1999
TRENTON, Mo. -- Marion Wesley Boswell, 72, Trenton, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at his home of an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Boswell was employed by Trenton Foods until retiring in 1975. He also had worked as a farm laborer in the Sikeston, Mo., area until moving in 1968 to Trenton, where he was an employee on the farm of Donald Woodard.
Born in Morehouse, Mo., on Jan. 14, 1927, he served in the Army during the Korean War.
On March 15, 1953, he married Ruth Goza in Little Rock, Ark. She survives of the home.
Mr. Boswell was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bessie E.
Additional survivors: three sons, Donnie of the home, Marion Jr., Trenton, and Joe, Kirksville, Mo.; four daughters, Aline and Marsha Dixon, both of Kirksville, Kathy K. Kendall, Nash, Okla., and Wanda Russell, Oklahoma City; a sister, Aline Dixon, West Plaines, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Pleasant Grove Cemetery, near Sikeston. Family visitation: 7 to 8 tonight, at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home, Trenton.

Walter H. Burton
1919-1999
HALE, Mo. -- Walter Howard Burton, 80, Hale, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at the Chillicothe, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Burton had been a farmer and also had worked for Banquet Foods in Trenton, Mo., for 13 years.
Born in Hale on Feb. 4, 1919, he attended the Rural Asper School, near Hale. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Hale.
On May 20, 1944, he married Virginia Evans in Kansas City, Kan. She survives of the home.
Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his parents, Mont and Magdalena; five brothers, Melvin, Buell, Roscoe, Chester and Marshall; two sisters, Pearl Eiserer and an infant; and a grandchild.
Additional survivors: five sons, John H., R. Leon and Nelson, all of Chillicothe, Steve, Hale, and Neal, Lawson, Mo.; three daughters, Marian Breeden and Vivian Engleman, both of Chillicothe, and Pamela Tipton, Meadville, Mo.; a brother, Marvin, California; two sisters, Naomi Plaster, Oak Grove, Mo., and Florence Kerns, Hale; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service: 3:30 p.m. Friday, Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Burial: Arkadelphia Cemetery, Hale. Visitation: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight. R. Irene Collins
1915-1999
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- R. Irene (Vick) Collins, 84, Maryville, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at a health-care center in Maryville.
Born in Stonhenge, Saskatchewan, Canada, on Jan. 14, 1915, Mrs. Collins had lived in Spokane, Wash., from 1941 until moving to Maryville in 1994.
She was a graduate of the Opheim, Mont., high school and was a homemaker. Mrs. Collins was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Maryville.
On June 12, 1937, she married William A. Collins Sr. in Glasgow, Mont. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by a son, William A. Jr.; her parents, Walter P. and Ruby Vick; seven brothers, Roy, Norris, Vern, Wayne, Loyal, Harold and Cleve Vick; and two sisters, Lucille Tastad and Connie Tufte.
Additional survivors: two sons, Gary, Maryville, and Larry, Spokane; a brother, Leonard Vick, Great Falls, Mont.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Service: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Maryville. Burial: Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville. Beulah F. Farris
FULLERTON, Calif. -- Beulah Fern Farris, 86, Fullerton, formerly of Maysville, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in Fullerton.
Mrs. Farris, a retired contract administrator, was born in Maysville. She had lived in Fullerton for the past 30 years.
Surviving: a daughter, Elwanda deRochemont, Houston; two sons, Donald, Plattsburg, Mo., and Darrel, Lakewood, Calif.; two brothers, Clark Warner, Stewartsville, Mo., and Carl Warner, the state of California; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held on March 2 at Memory Garden Mortuary in Brea, Calif. Burial was in Memory Garden Memorial Park in Brea.

Helen C. Gilbert
1913-1999
BREMERTON, Wash. -- Helen C. (Holder) Gilbert, 85, Bremerton, formerly of St. Joseph and Agency, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at a Bremerton health-care center.
Mrs. Gilbert was born near Agency on Sept. 5, 1913. She attended school and grew up in St. Joseph, where she graduated from Central High School.
She also attended beauty school in St. Joseph and worked as a beautician for several years in St. Joseph.
In 1945, Mrs. Gilbert moved to Penns Grove, N.J., where she worked as a drug store clerk. She had lived in Bremerton since 1994.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louie Wood; her second husband, Walter Gilbert; her parents, Charles C. and Dora Holder; a sister, Mary E. Thompson; and an infant brother, Charles Holder.
Surviving: a son, Charles F. Wood, Bremerton; a brother, Lawrence Holder, Agency; and two grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, Mo. Family visitation: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Frazier (Mo.) Cemetery.

Glen S. Goodspeed
1894-1999
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Glen S. (Hotchkiss) Goodspeed, 105, Maryville, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at a Maryville health-care center.
Born in St. Francis, Kan., on Feb. 24, 1894, Mrs. Goodspeed was a retired teacher. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and PEO Sisterhood Chapter L, both of Maryville.
On Nov. 9, 1969, she married Edwin O. Goodspeed in St. Paul, Minn. He died in 1983.
Mrs. Goodspeed also was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Roberts; her parents, Warren and Anna Hotchkiss; and two sisters, Alma Watkins and Maye Hampton.
Surviving: a stepson, Arthur Goodspeed, Maryville; two stepdaughters, Ruth Parman, Omak, Wash., and Helen Otis, Williamsburg, Va.; two grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and several stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 11 a.m. Saturday, Miriam Cemetery, Maryville. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Ruby L. Hayes
1909-1999
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Ruby Lorene (Bullock) Hayes, 89, Maryville, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at a health-care center in Maryville.
Mrs. Hayes worked as a seamstress for Fisher Cleaners and Superior Cleaners, both of Maryville.
Born in Barnard, Mo., on Oct. 15, 1909, she lived in the Guilford and Whitesville, Mo., areas before moving to Maryville in 1956. She attended country school and was a member of the Barnard Christian Church.
On Sept. 20, 1926, she married Druly Hayes. He died in 1951. Then on Oct. 24, 1953, she married Charley Lane. He died in 1983.
Mrs. Hayes also was preceded in death by her parents, James M. and Stella M. Bullock.
Surviving: a daughter, Wilma J. LaMaster, Guilford; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Johnson Funeral Home, Maryville. Burial: Weathermon Cemetery, Guilford. Family visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Guilford Community Center. Memorials may be made to the Maryville Health-Care Center.

Gail Holder
1936-1999
AGENCY, Mo. -- Gail (Thomas) Holder, 63, Agency, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at a Kansas City hospital.
Mrs. Holder was born Jan. 24, 1936, in Belton, Mo. She grew up in Edgerton, Mo., and graduated from North Platte High School in Dearborn, Mo. She also attended a business college in Kansas City.
On July 20, 1958, she married Charles H. Holder. After their marriage, they lived in Edgerton, moving to rural Agency in 1969. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Holder worked as a legal secretary in St. Joseph and Kansas City for many years. She was a member of the Missouri Association of Legal Secretaries.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred.
Additional survivors: two sons, Kenneth, St. Joseph, and Tom, Starkville, Miss.; her mother, Josephine Thomas, Smithville, Mo.; a brother, Terry Thomas, Bondurant, Iowa; and three sisters, Roberta Johnston, Smithville, Lois Sopher, Houston, and Sydney Croxdale Goslee, Springfield, Mo.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, Mo. Family visitation: 6:30 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial: Frazier (Mo.) Cemetery.

Carrie A. James
1915-1999
PATTONSBURG, Mo. -- Carrie A. (Siddens) James, 83, Pattonsburg, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at the Albany, Mo., hospital.
Mrs. James, born in Albany on July 28, 1915, was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Church in McFall, Mo.
On Aug. 9, 1939, she married Irvin James in Jamesport, Mo. He died in 1998.
Mrs. James also was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Emma Siddens.
Surviving: a twin sister, Mary Ladd, Pattonsburg.
Graveside service and burial: 11 a.m. Friday, McFall Cemetery. Visitation: after 2 p.m. today, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg. There is no scheduled family visitation. Family and friends are to meet at the funeral home for a procession to the cemetery, which will leave at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Roy C. Martin
1920-1999
CARROLLTON, Mo. Roy C. Martin, 78, Carrollton, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at the Carrollton hospital.
Mr. Martin had been employed as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator after returning home from the military service. In 1958, he went to work for M.M. Green Quarries in Carrollton until retiring in 1981 due to ill health.
Born in Brumley, Mo., on April 10, 1920, he lived most of his life in the Carrollton area. He received his education at the Root, Winfrey and Lone Oak schools, located near Miami Station, Mo. He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Martin was a member of the Miami Station Christian Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1773 and Wakanda Lodge No. 52, A.F. & A.M., of which he was a past master, both of Carrollton; and Scottish Rite of the Valley, Kansas City.
On Oct. 24, 1943, he married Ethel F. Martin in Mineral Wells, Texas. She died in January of 1999.
Mr. Martin also was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth; and a brother and three sisters.
Surviving: a stepson, Billy, Carrollton; a stepdaughter, Shirley Pankau, St. Joseph; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Mo. Family visitation: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where a service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday by members of the Wakanda Lodge No. 52, A.F. & A.M., Carrollton. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home, 201 S. Main St., Carrollton, MO 64633.
