Paul Kenneth Kussmann, age 73, of Brunswick, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born February 4, 1929 in Brunswick, Missouri the son of Arno and Elsie Staub Kussmann. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1946. He married Darline L. Lyons on June 22, 1958 at Forest Green, Missouri. He had been a lifelong farmer; Field Reporter for A.S.C.S. of Keytesville, Missouri for twenty-two years and had served as a committeeman for the Brunswick Township. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Brunswick, Missouri where he had held several positions, taught Sunday School and was a member of St. John's Mens Club. He is survived by his wife, Darline, of the home, one daughter, Nancy Schnare and her husband, Joel, Bosworth, Missouri; one son Donald Kussmann and his wife, Karen, Brunswick, Missouri; two sisters, Doris Gottschalk, Overland Park, Kansas, Lucille Ehlers, Farmington Hills, Michigan; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Leslie Gottschalk. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at 10:00 a.m., at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Brunswick, Missouri with Pastor Glen Drewitz officiating. Burial was in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. Visitation was from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Brunswick, Missouri in memory of Mr. Kussmann. Wade Owen Pearman, age 95, of Brunswick, Missouri passed away Thursday, January 2, 2003 at the Brunswick Nursing Center, Brunswick, Missouri. He was born November 1, 1907 in Brunswick, Missouri the son of Robert Woltz and Tennessee Metcalf Pearman. He married Delka Mae Bedwell August 9, 1925 in Brunswick, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 8, 1997. He worked for the Wabash Railroad for ten years and then worked as a mechanic for the L. W. Cuddy Implement Company in Brunswick and the Woolston Brothers Implement Company in Brunswick and Salisbury. He attended the Brunswick Christian Church. He is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean Haskamp, Brunswick, Missouri, Mary Jane Meyer, Brunswick, Missouri; one son, Myron Wade Pearman, Brunswick, Missouri; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren; Joe Wade Haskamp and Shirley Lynn Meyer; four brothers; and one sister. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri with Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. Burial was in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to the family's choice in memory of Mr. Pearman. Ethel A. Lewis, 92, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away, Sunday, January 5, 2003, at the Carroll House Retirement Home.
Ethel was born October 18, 1910 in Tina, Missouri; the daughter of Luke and Phoebe Ann Key Knott.
She attended Tina schools and was employed by the F.M. Stamper CO and Banquet Foods in Carrollton, MO.
On January 3, 1950 she was married to James Ford Lewis in Harrison, Arkansas; he preceded her in death on November 2, 1992.
Survivors include two brothers, Johnny Knott, Sedalia, Missouri and Bobby Knott, Hale, Missouri; two sisters, Alice Roberts, Richmond, Missouri and Viola Terrell, Harrisonville, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Clarence Knott, Lewis Knott, Joe Knott, Raymond Knott, and Donald Ray Knott; and one sister, Elsie Coe.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2003, at the Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri, with the Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.
Mrs. Lewis will lie in state Tuesday morning after 9:00 a.m. at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, MO.
The family suggests contributions to the charity of the families choice and they may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 South Main, Carrollton, MO 64633.

Pauline Thompson, age 75, of Brunswick, Missouri passed away Thursday, January 9, 2003 at Columbia Regional Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. She was born September 11, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Thomas J. and Margaret Burns Honn. She married Robert L. Thompson on October 13, 1947 in Brunswick, Missouri. He survives at the home. She was employed by Brunswick Nursing Home. She attended Brunswick Christian Church. She is also survived by one daughter, Sandra Jean Riggins, Brunswick, Missouri; one brother, Thomas Honn, Lexington, Missouri; one sister, Margaret Louise Bushnell, Higbee, Missouri; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri with Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. Burial was in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to the family's choice in memory of Mrs. Thompson. George Edward Griffith, 85, of Carrollton, MO died on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 at the
Independence Regional Health Center in Independence, MO.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, MO.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Carrollton.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Gibson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Mercy Hospital.
He was born on July 5, 1917 at Hardin, MO the son of Dennis and Erma Mayden Griffith.
He married Vivian Lightfoot on Nov. 18, 1945 at Wakenda, MO.
Mr. Griffith retired from farming in 1980.
He was a member of the Church of Christ at Carrollton, MO.
He is survived by his wife Vivian of the Home, one daughter, Sarah and her husband Fay Dodds of Bogard, MO, one son, Brad Griffith and Abby Powell of Fairbanks, Alaska, two sisters, Doris Duquette of Carrollton, MO and Jean Syverson and her husband Jim of Overland Park, KS, two nephews, Keith Cannon of Leawood KS and Mark Duquette of Houghton, KS,
five grandchildren, Cathy and Dana Royster of VanCouver, WA, Sheila Griffith of Minturn, CO,
Christy and Monty Isaacs of Norborne, MO, Jeremy Dodds of Bogard, MO and Hannah Powell of Fairbanks, Alaska, two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Emily Royster of VanCouver, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Sheila Diane in infancy.

Guy Edward Spencer, age 70, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Missouri. He was born February 25, 1932 in Triplett, Missouri the son of Harry Edward and Goldie Lancaster Spencer. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1950. He married Verna Mae Henderson June 8, 1951 in Brunswick, Missouri. She survives at the home. He was a U. S. Mail Carrier for thirty-three years in Brunswick. He attended the Brunswick Methodist Church; operated the Brunswick Skateland; was a past Mayor of Brunswick, past member of Brunswick School Board; thirty-seven member of Ararat Shrine; past member of Masonic Lodge; and a member of the Brunswick Lions Club. He is also survived by two sons, Mitch Spencer, Brunswick, Missouri; Mike Spencer, Triplett, Missouri; four daughters, Debbie Link, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Jackie Elliott, Brunswick, Missouri, Tammy Moser, Brunswick, Missouri, Shelley Spencer, Wellington, Missouri; Vera Spencer, who raised Guy, Brunswick, Missouri; eighteen granchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. P. Spencer, who raised him; one daughter, Karen Gail Spencer; and one sister, Evelyn D. Lancaster Smith. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 20, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri with Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. Burial was in McCullough Cemetery, Triplett, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri or the Missouri Cancer Associates or to the Brunswick Lions Club in memory of Mr. Spencer. Melvina Lorene White, age 91, of Brunswick, Missouri passed away Friday, January 17, 2003 at the Brunswick Nursing Center, Brunswick, Missouri. She was born October 10, 1911 in Brunswick, Missouri the daughter of Marvin and Cora Hannah Underwood. She graduated from Brunswick High School. Melvina married Victor G. White on March 2, 1932 at DeWitt, Missouri. She was a housewife and had attended the Brunswick Christian Church. She is survived by two sons, Jerry White, Brunswick, Missouri and Edward "Skip" White of Carrollton, Missouri; one daughter, Betty Sims, Brunswick, Missouri; one siter, LaVern Green, Santa Cruz, California; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Melvina was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons, George W. and Wendell V. White; one brother and one sister. Graveside services were held on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri with Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. James Archer England, age 75, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Friday, January 17, 2003 at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Missouri.
Jim was born July 3, 1927 in Carroll County, Missouri the son of HenryAustin and Susan Martha Thomas England.
He attended Wakenda Grade School and graduated from Wakenda High School.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Jim was married to Voncelli Walden in Carroll County on July 1, 1950. She preceded him in death on October 21, 1995.
He was employed by O'Dell Chevrolet as the Parts Manager and later worked in the parts department for Green Quarries and the Goddard-White Company.
Jim was a member of the Wakenda Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Pence-Lovell- England Post #1773 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include one son, James Thomas England, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; three daughters, Izetta Sue Goodale, Carrollton, Missouri, Vicki Ann Frakes, Carrollton, Missouri and Lori Denise Elliott, Bosworth, Missouri; he was guardian for Marilyn Gayle Ketron, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A nephew, Ronald Wayne Mobley, was raised as a brother by Jim's parents.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and an infant brother.
Graveside and Military services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2003 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Military services were provided by Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.Funeral services

Helen Virginia Sack Lyon, age 92, of Norborne, Missouri passed away Friday, January 17, 2003 at Carroll House, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born July 28, 1910 in Eagle, Nebraska, the daughter of Joseph George and Ida Alice Sack. She attended school in Bosworth, Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri in 1931.
On November 4, 1934 she married Armon William Lyon in Higginsville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1985. She was a Teacher, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother; and resided in Norborne her entire married life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Norborne, Missouri; PEO, Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi; where she had served as a sponsor and advisor; and the "M" Club with the University of Missouri.
She is survived by six children; Marilyn Marie Heil, Norborne, Missouri, Judith Eileen Glaze, Norborne, Missouri, George Alfred Lyon, Virginia Beach, Virginia, William Wayne Lyon, Norborne, Missouri, Ronald Alan Lyon, Norborne, Missouri, Alice Janice Welsh, Leawood, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren, Donnie Heil, Jeff Glaze, Jana Moentmann, Steve & Randy Lyon, Angela Bruno, Heather Henderson, Daniel Lyon, Julia, Jennifer and Ashley Lyon, Adam & Brianna Welsh; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Geroge Sack; and one sister, Rebecca Jean Sack Moore.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2003 at the First Baptist Church, Norborne, Missouri with Reverend M. R. Hamilton and Reverend Harold Hosler officiating. There will be a PEO service. Burial will be in Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
Visitation was Sunday, January 19, 2003 from 2-4:00 p.m. at the Gibson Funeral Home, Norborne, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Norborne in memory of Mrs. Lyon. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Myra Clifton Bittiker, age 91, of Brookfield, Missouri passed away Saturday, January 18, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Brookfield, Brookfield, Missouri. She was born December 21, 1911 in Triplett, Missouri the daughter of Frank and Maude Maddock Biggs. She graduated from Triplett High School in 1928. She married Hubert "Dick" Bittiker on December 31, 1939 by his brother, Reverend Virgil Bittiker. They were married for 63 years. They lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bittiker on a farm south of Mendon. Two children were born, Dixie and Paul. Myra was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother. After moving into Mendon, she helped Dick with the Mendon Electric Co.; worked for Mendon Oil Company, and finally spent many years at Pershing Hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Mendon Music club as well as active with many school activities. Myra and Dick moved to the Marceline area and later to Salisbury. She lived her entire life in Chariton County. Upon her retirement, she continued to expand and develop her natural talents in the arts. She took china painting lessons and became a very good teacher of this craft. Her friends and family treasure the painted pieces they own. She painted in oils, exhibited and traveled throughout northern Missouri as a member of the Northern Missouri Arts Council. Survivors include her husband Hubert A. "Dick" Bittiker at the Life Care Center of Brookfield; one daughter, Dixie Bliss and her husband John, Laguna Woods, California, a daughter-in-law, Diane Bittiker Hollander, Los Gatos, California; three grandchildren and one great grandson. Please join the family at the Mendon Methodist Church on Friday, January 24, 2003 at 1:30 p.m., for a celebration of Myra's life. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made and sent to: Northwestern High School, Music Department, Mendon, Missouri 64660 for Myra Bittiker Memorial. Cremation arrangements by Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri.
