Mary Lou Foose Winfrey, age 73, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2003 at Carrollton Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born February 9, 1930 in Waverly, Missouri the daughter of Jesse J. and Audrey V. Woodward Foose. She graduated from Waverly High School.
On September 5, 1953 she married Paul E. Winfrey in Trenton, Missouri. He preceded her in death. She was a bank teller for Commerce Bank of Kansas City. Mary Lou was a member of the First Christian Church, Waverly, Missouri.
She is survived by one sister, Sharon Layton and husband, Bill, Waverly, Missouri; two nephews, Chris Layton and wife, Lori, Carrollton, Missouri; Jeff Layton, Waverly, Missouri; one niece, Traci Freiberg and husband, Mike, Fond-Du Lac, Wisconsin; two great nephews, Ryan and Seth Layton; and one great niece, Adrienne Layton.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at the First Christian Church, Waverly, Missouri with Reverend Mike Koch officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri.
Visitation was from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri.

John Arthur Ballinger, age 65, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 21, 2003 at Kindred Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born August 30, 1937 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska the son of Howard V. and Deloris E. McKinney Ballinger. He attended schools in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
John was a farmer and was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by six sons, Jimmy Ballinger, David Ballinger, Dale Ballinger, Mike Ballinger, all of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Tim McCumber, Branson, Missouri, Bobby Allnutt, Carrollton, Missouri; four daughters, Tina Dial, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Dee Dee Ballinger, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Donna Lattin, Carrollton, Missouri, Sarah Staton, Carrollton, Missouri; a special friend, Donna Allnutt, Carrollton, Missouri; two brothers, Harvey Ballinger, Lawson, Missouri, Ronald Glen, Red Oak, Iowa; two sisters, JoAnn St. John, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Norma Inman, Wakefield, Kansas; twenty-eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Howard E. Ballinger and George E. Ballinger.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Elmira Cemetery, Elmira, Missouri
.Mr. Ballinger was cremated.

Fern Burton, age 85, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at her home.
She was born July 8, 1917 in Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of Ewell Payton and Ina Stanley Sherwood. She graduated from Carrollton High School, Carrollton, Missouri.
On August 25, 1938 she married W. I. (Dobber) Burton in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1996.
Fern was a house wife and mother and had lived her entire life in Trotter Township. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Carrollton, Missouri; and a member of the Trotter Hustlers Club for over sixty years.
She is survived by one daughter, Judith A. Brown and husband, Steve, Beloit, Kansas; one son, Bill Burton and wife, Lynette, Carrollton, Missouri; one sister, Mildred Oglesbee, Carrollton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Bill Burton, Hutchinson, Kansas, Sheryl Sebelski, Kearney, Missouri, Tom Burton, Carrollton, Missouri, Stephen Brown, Topeka, Kansas, Chris Nay, Bennington, Kansas; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Aubrey Sherwood; and one sister, Faye Wood.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2003 at the United Methodist Church, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Sandra Crater officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Ruth Staton Hawkins, age 92, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 27, 2003 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born September 11, 1910 in Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Samuel and Valery Sanders Staton. She attended Rosebud Grade School and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1928.
Ruth was a nurse at Staton Clinic and Hospital from 1948 until 1961. She was the Secretary- Treasurer of KAOL AM-FM Radio Station from 1959 to 1973. Beginning in 1965, she served for a decade on the American Association of Doctors and Nurses Health Committee.
She was married to Claude Hawkins in Carroll County, Missouri. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Ray Hawkins; five brothers, Leger Staton, Ray Staton, Mayo Staton, Dr. Rubey Hamilton Staton, M. D., and Guy Staton; and one sister, Lura Lucas.
Ruth is survived by many family members and friends.
Graveside services were held Monday, March 3, 2003 at Cannon Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.

Marjorie Ada Childs Chase Johnson, age 96, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Carrollton Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born April 11, 1906 in rural DeWitt, Missouri to the late Samuel Lewis Childs and Alena Crenshaw, the oldest of three children.
She attended the DeWitt School and married William Roger Chase of Blackwater, Missouri in 1931. To this union four children were born. They moved to Robertson, Missouri near St. Louis in 1936. After William died in 1945, she went to work for the Scudder School District (later it was re-named Ferguson-Florrissant)where she worked for 35 years.
Later she married Leland H. Johnson and they moved back to the rural DeWitt area. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Samuel & Alena Childs; two brothers, Samuel, Jr. and Robert A. Childs III; two children, William R. Chase, Jr. and Martha Sue Rogers; one granddaughter, Tabetha Chase.
She loved cooking and gardening before her health failed. She was "Big Mama" to scores of people.
She leaves to mourn her passing, two children, Allie M. Thomas, Billy G. Chase, both of rural Carrollton, Missouri; nine grandsons, Tyrone Terrance, Juan, Garland and Michael Chase; Kelven, Keith, Kelly and Kris (Laura) Dunlap; ten great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, and many, many friends.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Virginia Street Baptist Church, 109 S. Virginia St., Carrollton MO. Services at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the church. Burial will be in DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Pauline G. Hudson, age 87, of Norborne, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 2, 2003 at Lexington Care Center, Lexington, Missouri.
She was born August 20, 1915 in Malta Bend, Missouri the daughter of Henry and Flora Smith Frazier. She attended White's Island Country School and Edwards School.
On August 24, 1964 she married D. C. Hudson in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death. Pauline had worked as a waitress at Bryant's Restaurant for a number of years. She was a Methodist.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Harold Hambrick and wife, Betty, Waverly, Missouri, William Eugene Hambrick and wife, Emma, Henrietta, Missouri; two daughters, Wilma Aliene Butler, Waverly, Missouri, Ruth Ann Parks and husband, Billy, Waverly, Missouri; one sister, Geraldine Scott, Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, one grandson and one great grandson.
Graveside services were at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.
Visitation was from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Norborne, Missouri.

Norma Jean Haskamp, age 69, of Brunswick, Missouri passed away Monday, March 3, 2003 at her home. She was born July 3, 1933 in Brunswick, Missouri the daughter of Wade and Delka Bedwell Pearman. She attended Brunswick Schools and graduated in 1951. On June 20, 1953 she married Henry Joseph Haskamp in Brunswick. They made their home in the Brunswick Community all their lives. Henry preceded her in death December 6, 1989 and has been waiting for her on the other side. Also preceding her in death were her son Joe Wade, her parents, Delka and most recently her father, Wade, and a niece, Shirley Lynn Meyer. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Lou Sparks and husband, Bill, DeWitt, Missouri; one son, Will Henry Haskamp and Debbie Krewson, Brunswick, Missouri; her beloved grandchildren, David, Jeffrey and Joni Sparks, Hollie Caselman and husband, Frankie, and their daughter, Hannah, Devann and Daniel Standley; one brother, Myron Wade Pearman, and one sister, Mary Jane Meyer, nieces and nephews, which she treated as her own grandchildren, Kevin and Kelly Meyer, and Elliott, Jeanette and Richard Van Noord and Elise, Dan Tony, Becky and Mary Haskamp and christy and Linda Wood. Norma Jean loved working in the Community, meeting people in their many walks of life. She worked at the Eljon Theater, Uptown Drugstore and Cafe, White Rodgers Factory, carried a star route from Brunswick to Triplett, Reicherts Department Store, Brunswick Sale Barn, Mattingly's, and Allen's Variety Store. She never met a stranger or a person she didn't like. Norma Jean was active in her community by joining the Rucker-McAllister Post #7 American Legion Auxiliary, St. Mary's Alter Society, Good Sam Camping Club, Indian Grove Education Club, many card clubs and was a 4-H leader. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and attended regularly. In her later years, even though she was lefally blind, she enjoyed playing cards on a regular basis, making quilts for her children and grandchildren for graduations, weddings and anniversaries. She also enjoyed entertaining her friends and attending plays and dinner theaters. One of her highlights of the week was to attend Mass on Sunday morning and cook Sunday dinner for her children and their families and sometimes their friends. She was an excellent cook known for her Mahogony Chiffon Cake and brown gravy and her grandchildren's favorite, Mickey Mouse pancakes. She will be buried in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, beside her husband and her son, Joe.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 6, 2003 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Brunswick, Missouri with Father Misey officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri from 7-8:30 p.m., with the Rosary at 8:30. The family suggests contributions be made to Rehabilitation For The Blind in memory of Mrs. Haskamp. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 207 W Broadway, Brunswick MO 65236.

Harold Robert Lightfoot, age 78, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born November 7, 1924 in Hale, Missouri the son of Earl and Edna Landreth Lightfoot He graduated from Carrollton High School.
On February 14, 1946 he married Pauline Marie Duffy in Bellaire, Maryland. She survives at the home.
Harold was a salesman for Oliver from 1946 to 1965. He was an engineer for Carrollton Municipal Utilities for twenty-three years. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri; Carroll County Shriners; and was Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773.
Harold is also survived by three daughters, Maureen Carole Scott and husband, Tim, Maple Hill, North Carolina, Debbie Hinkel, State of Maine, Cathy Litten, Buckner, Missouri; four brothers, Raymond Lightfoot, Hale, Missouri, Jake Lightfoot, Kansas City, Missouri, Billie Lightfoot, Kansas City, Missouri, Gary Lightfoot, State of Wisconsin; two sisters, Helen Walker, Blackburn, Missouri, Bonnie Dennis, Hale, Missouri; four grandchildren, Shane Alexander and wife, Shannon, Los Angeles, California, Shaun Scott and wife, Vicky, Gulfport, Mississippi, Heather Litten, Buckner, Missouri, Wendy Scott, Jacksonville, North Carolina; three great grandchildren, Timothy Scott, Gulfport, Mississippi, Hayle Watton, Buckner, Missouri and Tiffany Scott, Gulfport, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Fern.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Joe Barone and Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri. Military Honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2003 with a Masonic Service at 8:00 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Pearl Ruby Kitchen, age 80, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2003 at the Brunswick Nursing Home, Brunswick, Missouri. She was born May 26, 1922 at Madisonville, Kentucky the daughter of Charles Herbert and Gertrude Melling Hill. She married Herbert Moser on October 15, 1942. Herbert preceded her in death in 1949. Pearl later married Kenneth Kitchen on June 29, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1995. Pearl had been a cook for the Brunswick RII School District. She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Westhoff and her husband, Ed, of Brunswick, Missouri; one son, Charles Herbert Moser and his wife, Sarah, of Honolulu, Hawaii; two grandchildren, Melissa Record and Marietta Lynn Moser; and six great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, Louise Bentley, Charlene Dempsey, Morene Greenlee, Annie Dye, Helen Baxley and Temple Hill; three brothers, Herbert, Gene and Roy Hill; one infant brother and one grandson, Dennis Westhoff. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Brunswick, Missouri with Reverend Leonard Misey officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Mrs. Kitchen. Caro Lee Sedgwick, age 77, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
Caro Lee resided at the Carrollton Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri. She was born July 12, 1925 in Maysville, Missouri, the daughter of Glen and Wava Totten Cogdill. She attended Maysville Grade School and graduated from Amity High School.
She was co-owner and worked at Sedgwick Feed and Produce in Cameron, Missouri. She was a dietician at the Cameron Community Hospital for twelve years.
She was married to William "Bill" Sedgwick in San Antonio, Texas on October 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2001.
Caro Lee was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Dorothy Silcott; and one brother, Coleman Cogdill.
Survivors are a daughter, Debbie Ball and husband, Don, Fredonia, Kansas; one son, Randy Sedgwick and wife, Anne, Cameron, Missouri; three grandsons, Ryan Sedgwick and wife, Keri; Blake Sedgwick, all of Cameron, Missouri; Zack Ball, Burbank, California; and one great grandson, Cody Keith Sedgwick, Cameron, Missouri.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2003 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.
