Evelyn Cristeen Tyhurst Lock, age 76, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004 at her home. Evelyn was born June 4, 1928 in LaPlata, Missouri, the daughter of Charles and Ethel Mary McConnell Tyhurst. She attended LaPlata Grade and High School and Central Business College in Kansas City, Missouri. On March 29, 1951 she married Joseph William Lock at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Carrollton, Missouri. She was a secretary until 1951 in Carrollton, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri. Evelyn was a homemaker living in Carrollton until 1968 and had lived in Waverly, Missouri from 1968 until 2004. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society of the church in Carrollton and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; four children, Carol Ann Lock Ross and husband, Lanny, New Market, Iowa, Steven Neil Lock, Higginsville, Missouri, Catherine Lynn Lock, Waverly, Missouri, and Phyllis Jean Lock Bargfrede and husband, Brent, Dunlap, Illinois; one sister, Lucille Tyhurst McCoy, Boonville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Michelle Ross Hobbick and husband, Eric, New Market, Iowa, Becky Bargfrede and Ben Bargfrede, Dunlap, Illinois, and one great granddaughter, Danielle Hobbick, New Market, Iowa. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Carroll Tyhurst, Norman Tyhurst, L. D. Tyhurst, and James Tyhurst; and one sister, Rowena Tyhurst Jewell. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Ken Criqui officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri. Visitation was Monday, March 8, 2004 from 7-8:30 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 8:30. Thelma Treva Marquess, age 96, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Living Center in Marshall, Missouri. She was born July 27, 1907 in Laclede, Missouri, the daughter of Willard Hunter and Mary Catherine Lewis Blakely. She graduated from Brunswick High School with the class of 1925. That same year she entered Kirksville State Teachers College, receiving her Teaching Certificate and was hired by Layton Smutz of the Davis-Foggin School District, to teach school at Davis-Foggin School. She taught there about two years. She married Rolland L. Marquess on June 16, 1928, in Brunswick, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, her son, Wayne, her brother, Willard Orville Blakely, and her grandson, Kelly Aaron Wright. Surviving Thelma are: Norman and Maryanne Marquess, of Overland Park, Kansas and G. B. and Arlene Wright, of Marshall, Missouri. Three grandchildren, Scott and Melinda Marquess, Bryan and Jeree Marquess, and Victoria Lynn Wright of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Five great grandchildren, Stephanie and Lauren Marquess, Jordan and Zachary Marquess all of Overland Park, Kansas and Matthew B. Wright, of St. Louis, Missouri. Funeral services were held on March 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri with Duane Jenkins officiating. Burial was in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. Visitation was at 1:00 p.m., before the service. The family suggests contributions be made to Elliott Grove Cemetery in memory of Mrs. Marquess. Clara Elizabeth (Betty) Saltsgaver, 86, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away, Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Carroll House.
Betty was born September 7, 1917 in Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of William Cecil and Villa Marcilla Collier Marshall. She attended Dobson Grade School.
On October 8, 1942, she was married to Orville H. (Babe) Saltsgaver in Carrollton, Missouri by Reverend G. L. Bush. Babe preceded her in death on March 12, 1980.
Betty was employed by the Banner Biscuit Company in Carrollton for twenty-five years and later a caregiver in private homes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri.
Betty is survived by two sons; Edward Lee Saltsgaver and wife, Joyce, Carrollton, Missouri, Douglas LeRoy Saltsgaver and wife, Jannie, Carrollton, Missouri; one brother, James Earl Marshall, Bradford, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Glenn (Lucille) Marshall, Bradford, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Kerry Ann Branchcomb and husband, Rick, Delta, Colorado, Ricky Saltsgaver and wife, Cindy, Macon, Missouri, Bruce Saltsgaver and wife, Barb, Florence, Missouri, Ronnie Saltsgaver and wife, Emily, Aurora, Missouri, Lesia Bleck, Sedalia, Missouri, Libby Sue Lorenz and husband, John, Sedalia, Missouri, and Rusty Saltsgaver and wife, Shelbi, Otterville, Missouri; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, William Russell Marshall, George A. Marshall, and Glenn Marshall; an infant sister, Aline Fay; and an infant brother, Raymond Cecil.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-9:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Billy Joe Moyer was born in Glasgow, Missouri on October 8, 1932, to John and Kathryn Moyer. They moved to Waverly, Missouri in his early childhood, and Bill graduated from Waverly High School in 1950. He joined the United States Navy for four years and served during the Korean War on the USS Philippine Sea. He attended Long Beach State in California and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri, where he earned his Masters Degree. He worked as a teacher, counselor, and principal at various Independence, Missouri high schools. In 1983, he became principal at Santa Fe High School in Alma, Missouri, where he retired in 1992.
Bill married Carol J. Rowe on November 12, 1964, in Miami, Oklahoma. They lived in Independence and moved to Waverly in 1970. Bill devoted himself to family and friends. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Waverly, Missouri. He was also a member of Waverly Lodge AF & AM, VFW at Corder, Missouri, The American Legion at Blackburn, Missouri, and the USS Philippine Sea Association. He attended many reunions over the years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and traveling. Bill served with the International Mission Board prayer-walking and ESL in China in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Waverly, Missouri, two sons, John Carlyle Moyer and his wife Angie, Lee's Summit, Missouri, B. J. Moyer and his wife Becky, Lee's Summit, Missouri, and one daughter, Pam Lewis and her husband Barry of Slidell, Louisiana. There are six granddaughters, Emilie and Anna Moyer, Kathryn and Julia Moyer, Daniella Colon and Stormi Lewis. One sister, Joyce Geraughty and her husband Jim, Waverly, Missouri, and one brother, John Moyer and his wife Alberta, of Roach, Missouri. Bill loved his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Higginsville Baptist Church, Higginsville, Missouri with Reverend Kenneth Erisman officiating and Jim Geraughty speaking. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri with a full Military Service at 12:30 p.m.
Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2004 at the Waverly Baptist Church, Waverly, Missouri.

Bessie Ella Woolston Ramsey, age 96, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2004 at her home.
She was born July 13, 1907 on a farm at Wakenda, Missouri, the daughter of Walter and Mary Hardwick Woolston. She lived in Carroll County all her life. She attended Rosebud School.
On June 5, 1930, she married Clyde Wilbur Ramsey. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1959. To this union two sons were born, Lawrence Marvin Ramsey and Charles Everet Ramsey.
She is survived by one son Charles Ramsey and his wife Donna, Carrollton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Beatrice Sue Moore and husband David, Smithville, Missouri, Maxine White and husband Bob, Lathrop, Missouri, Kenney Ramsey, Wellington, Missouri, Vicky Mendoza and husband Manuel, Marshall, Missouri, Ricky Ramsey, Belton, Missouri; two step grandchildren, Michael Shane Decker and wife Cherry, Independence, Missouri, and Rochelle Decker, Chicago, Illinois; ten great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, Charles Woolston, Harry Woolston, Jim Woolston and Ruth Sanders; one son, Lawrence Ramsey and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2004 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri with Carl Cowick officiating.
Visitation was from 1-1:45 before the service.

Wilma Pauline Smith, 74, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 12, 2004, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 4, 1928 in Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of Paul and Daisy Trusty Yake. She attended Mayview Country School, Dieterich Grade School, and graduated from Carrollton High School. She received her teaching certificate from the Teacher's College in Warrensburg, Missouri. Pauline taught both in Carey and Wood Schools.
On April 24, 1949 she married Robert Evans Smith in their future home. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in April of 1999.
Pauline was a housewife, devoted wife, loving mother, and volunteered to work with children and youth in 4-H and United Methodist Youth.
She was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church, Thompson Chapel Methodist Church, and the Waverly United Methodist Church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and held several local and district offices in the United Methodist Women's Organizations. Pauline was also a member of the Hazel Hill Extension Club, Modern Homemakers, Waverly Breakfast Club, Amicitia Club, and a charter/life member of the R.A.O.
Pauline is survived by her children, Ellen and Kenny Davis, of Carrollton, MO, Wayne and Annette Smith of Carrollton, MO, Paula and Greg Culp of Gilbert, AZ, Jerry and Luci Smith of Carrollton, MO, and Rocky Smith, of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Glen Yake and his wife, Betty, Bogard, MO; one sister, Doris White and her husband, Bill, Bogard, MO; fourteen grandchildren, Wade, Matt, Daisy, Kristi, Jesse, Jacob, Nellie, Abbie, Anna, Cydney, Jessica, Betsy, Gabriel, and Sylvia; five great-grandchildren, Drew, Cawyer, Luke, Gracie, and Clara; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband on November 20, 2003, her parents, and one sister, Frances Phillips.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 15, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at the Carrollton United Methodist Church with Reverend Robert Payne and Reverend Sandra Crater officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.

Aldean Marie (Deda) Fisher, age 36, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 13, 2004 at the Carrollton Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born July 22, 1967 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Russell Dale Wells and Helen Marie Wohlgemuth McTiernan. She graduated from Bosworth High School, Bosworth, Missouri.
On August 14, 1986, she married Roy Fisher in Carrollton, Missouri. He survives at the home. She was a housewife and an avid horsewoman. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri.
Deda is also survived by her mother and step father, Helen and Eugene McTiernan, Aurora, Colorado; her father, Russell Wells; one step son, Steven Fisher, Carrollton, Missouri; one brother, Charles Wells, Aurora, Colorado; two step brothers, David and George McTiernan, State of Colorado; five sisters, Christina Griffin, Hardin, Missouri, Tessie Harmon, Carrollton, Missouri, Jennie Chandler, Gunther, Oklahoma, Melody Wolf, State of Oregon, Pat Ruby, State of New Mexico; nieces and nephews, Tiffany Harmon, and Beth and Cara Griffin, Darren Harmon, Jason Fisher, Betty Ilene and several cousins.
Her grandparents and her stepmother preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Lee Borders officiating. Burial will be in Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Mildred Helen Huffman, 93, beloved mother to Vesta Ann, treasured Grandma to Dwight and Rhondda, David and Janice, fond Great Grandma to Brandon and Lauren, special Aunt, Great Aunt, sister-in-law and cousin to her extended family, a valued friend or former neighbor to many, passed away at Carroll County Memorial Hospital Extended Care March 16, 2004, where she became a resident in February, 2002.
Mildred, daughter of William John and Sarah Catherine (Patton) Wharton was born December 13, 1910 southeast of Bosworth, MO . She attended Maryville State Teacher's College and taught 6 years in rural Carroll County schools.
She married Vestol Charles Huffman October 7, 1934. They lived southeast of Bosworth and in Livingston and Grundy counties before moving to a farm a mile north of Bogard in 1944. From there they moved to Carrollton in 1980. Vestol passed away January, 1985.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Johnny and Buford who died in childhood and Everett who expired in 1960. Her sister Flora passed away in 1989 and her son-in-law, Jerry deceased in 2000.
Year after year, Mildred's vegetable gardens were equally picturesque and productive. Her knowledge of American History and English Literature was outstanding. She wrote the family history and had a special talent with poetry, providing "The Making's of Bogard" for the 1984 centennial book. Recording daily happenings was her passion. Her manuscript was envied, her notes and letters admired and will be missed immensely by those receiving them. She loved her family and appreciated keeping in touch with relatives who lived the various distances away.
In its day, 1950's, 60's , 70's, Mildred belonged to the San Souci Club and outlived her dear friends and former members who were : Doris Storm, Irene O'Dell, Anna Groves, Sylvia Duncan, Virginia Storm, Lucy Kelly, Isa Kemble, Mabel Hubbard, Hazel Smalley, Rose Dannels, Mary Jacobs, Martha Craig, Belle Johnson, Maude Ballard, and Jean Wilhelm.
As a teenager, Mildred became a member of the Bosworth Christian Church and was baptised in the then new baptistry of the church.
Interment will be in the graveyard where 5 of Mildred's family generations are buried. The original land was owned and then given by Mildred's Great Grandmother Mary Ann Wharton, thus named; Wharton Cemetery. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the Wharton Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri

Freida Caroline Stiek, 93, of Carrollton, Missouri died on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at the Carrollton Nursing Center.
She was born on November 16, 1910 in the Van Horn Township the daughter of Charles and Caroline Becker Stiek.
She was a graduate of Carrollton High School and had worked for the International Shoe Factory at Carrollton, MO from the time it opened until it closed. She then worked at the Dari- Maid in Carrolton, MO for 35 years, where she was known for her Shakes and Malts.
Freida also loved working in her garden with her flowers and watching the Deer.
She was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Carrollton, where her grandfather,
Adam Becker was one of the Founding Members.
She was also a Charter Member of the Immanuel Lutheran Evening Guild, a Charter Member of the Carroll County Historical Society, a member of the Liberty Club and a member of the Carroll County Women's Republican Club.
She is survived by one sister, Lydia Stiek of Carrollton, MO, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by one sister and her husband, Catherine and Gwin Bradshaw and one half-sister and her husband Huldia and Roy Russ.
Graveside services will be held in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Carrollton, MO on Friday, March 19, 2004 at 1:30 P.M. Pastor Eric Swyres officiating.
Ms. Stiek will lie in state at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, MO on Thursday from
1-5 P.M. and on Friday from 8 A.M. till 12:30 P.M.
In Lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to the Lutheran Radio Fund.

Leroy Cribb, age 69, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2004 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born August 7, 1934 in Mercer County, Missouri, the son of Clarence Dale and Louise McKill Cribb. At the age of six years he came to Marshall State School in Marshall, Missouri. He was transferred later to Carrollton State School. In 1972 he was released and lived in different homes. For the past sixteen years he has made his home at the residence of Freeda Smart. He worked at Banquet Foods for fifteen years and worked at the Sheltered Workshop for ten years until he retired in 1996. Leroy was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Carrollton.
He is survived by one sister, Annette Mae Cribb; Freeda Smart and her family, Jettie and Jim Clemens, Johnny Smart and Carolyn Grimes; and numerous other friends.
His parents and one brother, Clifford Keith Cribb, preceded Leroy in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Lee Borders officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., before the service.
