Lawrence Edward Miller, age 78, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004 at his home.
He was born July 31, 1926 in Carroll County, Missouri, the son of Henry Charles and Eleanor Fecher Miller. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Carrollton High School.
On May 12, 1948, Lawrence married Bonnie Marie Germann at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carrollton, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Lawrence resided and farmed all his life in Carroll County. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Carrollton, Missouri; a life long member of the Knights of Columbus; He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 in Carrollton, Missouri. He had served eight years as Presiding Commissioner of Carroll County; State of Missouri Farmers elected Committeeman; and was a board member of the Soil and Water Conservation District.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie, Lawrence is survived by six sons, Edward R. Miller and wife Peggy, Carrollton, Missouri, Paul E. Miller and wife Christina, Carrollton, Missouri, Michael H. Miller and wife Pamela, Carrollton, Missouri, Christopher D. Miller, Carrollton, Missouri, Stephen L. Miller and wife Deborah, Carrollton, Missouri and Lawrence E. (Larry) Miller and wife Donna, Grain Valley, Missouri; one brother, Harold L. Miller, Carrollton, Missouri; one sister, Pauline Miller O'Neill, Western Australia; thirteen grandchildren, Rebecca A. Lynn, Amy L. Miller, Cortney M. Malter, Eric W. Miller, Daphne N. Best, Amanda L. Miller, Kacey M. Miller, Lucas S. Miller, Kimberly L. Miller, Tara J. Miller, Michael Brandon Miller, Mathias D. Miller, Lindsey N. Miller; and one great granddaughter, Emily A. Miller.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Carrollton, Missouri with Father Ron Elliott officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9-9:45 a.m., with a Rosary at 9:45, before the service on Wednesday, at the church.
The family suggests contributions be made to Southern Care Hospice in Excelsior Springs, Missouri or Monsignor Summers Scholarship Fund at St. Mary's. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Vera Kathryn Spencer, age 98, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 6, 2004 at Fitzgibbon Hospital, Marshall, Missouri.
She was born July 10, 1906, near Triplett, Missouri, the daughter of James Edward and Nella Isola Timmons Tyler. She graduated May 14, 1925 from Mendon High School.
On June 12, 1926, she married James Presley Spencer in Huntsville, Missouri. He preceded her in death.
Vera had taught school for one year before she married. She was a housewife and mother. She did the bookwork for Jim's garage. She always enjoyed having her grandchildren and great grandchildren around, taking them to the State Fair every year. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She made scrapbooks for the families and liked doing genealogy. She and Jim were members of the United Methodist Church in Brunswick since the 1930's. She always enjoyed planting her vegetable and flower gardens.
Vera is survived by a daughter-in-law, Verna Mae Spencer, Brunswick, Missouri; and one sister, Pearl Evelyn Ware, Lakewood, California; ten grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, James Meredith and Guy Edward Spencer; four brothers and four sisters, Viola Beatrice Tyler, Ralph Edward, John Henry, Ruby Frances, Glen William, Doris May and Landon Bennett.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 9, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri with Phyllis Anderson officiating. Burial was in McCullough Cemetery, Triplett, Missouri.
Visitation was from 12:30-1:15 p.m., Monday, before the service.

Jacqueline Lee (Jackie) McAfee, 59, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2004 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jackie was born on September 24, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Gordon L. and Mary V. Albert Gorman. She grew up in Bosworth, Missouri, where she graduated from Bosworth High School in 1962.
Ms. McAfee had resided in Kansas City for the past forty years, where in the 1970's, she was voted honorary mayor of Westport. Jackie was a member of the Bosworth Christian Church.
Ms. McAfee is survived by her son, Dave McAfee, Las Vegas, Nevada; her mother and stepfather, Mary and Ercel Wilhelm, Bosworth, Missouri; a sister, Deena Wolf and her husband George, Kansas City, Missouri; her stepmother, Peggy Gorman, Bosworth, Missouri; two stepbrothers, Roger Wilhelm and wife MaryEllen, Columbia, Missouri, John Wilhelm, Bosworth, Missouri; one granddaughter, Amy McAfee, Las Vegas, Nevada; one nephew, Jacob Wolf, Kansas City, Missouri; and one niece, Hannah Wolf, Kansas City, Missouri.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Gorman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Bosworth, Missouri, with Reverend Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri.
Visitation was held Monday evening.

Lenora Mae Rhea, age 62, of Houston, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004. She was born July 14, 1942 in DeWitt, Missouri, the daughter of Burl and Maggie Lightfoot Hickerson. She attended Lynewood High School at Lynewood, California. Lenora was married to Bob Rhea on April 8, 1961 in Southgate, California. Mrs. Rhea was the manager of fine china and crystal at Foley's Department Store in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Rhea was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church. Survivors include her husband, Bob; one daughter, Tammy Bohnenkamp and husband John, Remsen, Iowa; two sons, Bobby and wife Jennifer, Ashville, North Carolina, Sean of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Kenneth John and wife Sophia Elizabeth Bohnenkamp; one sister, Wanda Lybarger, Clinton, Missouri; one brother, Jack Hickerson and wife Shirley, Brunswick, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, Roberta and William Rhea. Funeral services were Thursday, August 12, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri with Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri. Mary Elaine O'Shaughnessy, age 80, of Mendon, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at Boone Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.
She was born April 10, 1924 in Sumner, Missouri, the daughter of Gurney and Pearl Coons Oldham. She graduated from Mendon High School in 1941.
On March 14, 1942, she married Martin O'Shaughnessy in Buckner, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1978. Elaine was a medical nurse in Independence, Missouri. She was a member of the Mendon Methodist Church.
Elaine is survived by one brother, Wayne Oldham, Carmel, California; and two sisters, Elizabeth Gates, Independence, Missouri, Edythe Rodriguez, Kansas City, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Elaine was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Mendon, Missouri with Gail Brown officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
Elaine will lie in state at Gibson Funeral Home, Mendon, Missouri from 10:00 a.m., until service time on Saturday.

Connie Gay Crowder Heaper, age 55, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at Boone Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.
She was born June 25, 1949 in Marshall, Missouri, the daughter of Victor L. Crowder and Martha Crowder Link. She graduated from Sweet Springs High School and attended the School of Cosmetology in Sedalia, Missouri.
On April 27, 1968, she married Raymond E. (Gene) Heaper in Emma, Missouri. Connie lived in Sweet Springs until 1972 when she and Gene moved to Brunswick. She had worked as a beautician; had owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Brunswick; and most recently, was the City Clerk of Brunswick. She was a member of St. John's Church of Emma, Missouri.
Connie is survived by her husband, Gene, Brunswick, Missouri; one daughter, Gaye J. Garvin and husband, Jackie, Brunswick, Missouri; two sisters, Kay Callahan and husband Denny, Marathon, Florida, Vicky Sidwell and husband Charles, Sweet Springs, Missouri; and two granddaughters, Anna and Samantha Garvin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Melvin Link.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 13, 2004 at 7:00 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri with Gail Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m., on Friday at the funeral home.

Lucile Fern Trent, age 87, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at Mar-Saline Manor Care Center, Marshall, Missouri.
She was born June 1, 1917, in Waverly, Missouri, the daughter of William and Anna Moore Neer. She attended school in Grand Pass, Missouri and graduated from Waverly High School.
On November 13, 1937, she married Stewart Ryland Trent in Waverly, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2003. Lucile was a housewife and mother and had worked as a Librarian at the Waverly Library. She was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of the Hazel Hill Extension Club.
Lucile is survived by one daughter, Patricia Appleberry and husband, James B., Louisville, Kentucky; one son, William Stewart (Bill) Trent and wife, Alice, Marshall, Missouri; one sister, Dorothy Jean Grove, Waverly, Missouri; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Lucile was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Neer.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2004, at the United Methodist Church, Waverly, Missouri with Reverend Dr. George B. Gordon and Reverend Bob Payne officiating. Burial will be in Dover Cemetery, Dover, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 12-1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2004 before the service at the church.

Jesse Omer Tucker, age 79, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 13, 2004, at Research Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born October 15, 1924, in Leeton, Missouri, the son of William and Mary Elizabeth Bush Tucker. He attended Centerview School in Gallatin, Missouri. He was in the United States Army during World War II.
On June 9, 1979, he married Buena Pugh in Savonburg, Kansas. She survives at the home. Jesse was the owner and operator of the Standard Service Station in Carrollton until 1970. He was a forklift operator for Banquet Foods for fifteen years in Bosworth. He was a volunteer for the Bosworth Fire Department and had worked at Edwards Funeral Home in Bosworth. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri; Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 of Carrollton, and the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, Buena, Jesse is also survived by one daughter, Sandra Joyce Wilson and husband Bill, Carrollton, Missouri; one son, Rodger Watts and wife Helga, Harrisonville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Carah, Tyler and Haley Watts, Eric and Brent Wilson; six great grandchildren, Korrissa, Gabrielle, Dylan and Christian Wilson, and Hallie and Timothy Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at the Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Ken Prewitt officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, August 16, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Geneva Fern Thompson, age 91, of Marshall, Missouri and a former resident of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away at her daughter's home in DeWitt, Missouri on Friday, August 13, 2004. She was born on June 19, 1913 at Amity, Missouri, the daughter of Bert Sylvester and Naomi Stella Hale Searcy. She graduated from Amity High School in 1933. Fern married Nathan Van Buren Thompson on October 26, 1941 at Keytesville, Missouri. Nathan preceded her in death on July 21, 1983. Over the years, Fern had worked for Linda's Cafe, Moser's Coffee Shop, James Pecans and Harvey Beall Pecans at Brunswick, Missouri; Banquet Foods in Marshall, Missouri; and later she volunteered at the Head Start in Brunswick and Marshall, Missouri. She had lived in Brunswick, Missouri until moving to Marshall, Missouri fouteen years ago. Geneva was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Lybarger and her husband, Jesse, of DeWitt, Missouri; one son, Jon A. Skaug and wife Cathy of San Ramon, California, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, one step great great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and six brothers. Funeral services will be held at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri, on August 18, 2004 at 11:00 a.m., with Tom Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10-11:00 a.m. The family suggests contributions be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of Mrs. Thompson. Adele Stephens Bondy, age 87, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at the Brunswick Nursing home, Brunswick, Missouri. She was born December 10, 1916 in rural LaMonte, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Rice and Minnie Garland Ray Stephens. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1935. On February 27, 1943, she married Herman Francis Bondy in San Luis Obispo, California. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Brunswick, Missouri; Brunswick Homemakers Extension Club, D.A.R. and the St. John's Lutheran Braille Workers L.W.M.L. She is survived by one daughter, Ann Bondy, Kansas City, Missouri; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles H. and Kathy Bondy, Brunswick, Missouri; one sister, Louise Reineke, Warrington, Missouri; two brothers, James Stephens, Mendon, Missouri, Robert Stephens, Brookfield, Missouri; three grandchildren; Brian Wynn, Joshua and Laura Bondy. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be at St. John's Lutheran Church, Brunswick, Missouri, with Pastor Glen Drewitz officiating on Friday, August 20, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri. Ronald Douglas Buck, age 74, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at Lafayette Regional Health Center, Lexington, Missouri.
He was born October 19, 1929 in Waverly, Missouri, the son of Grover Cleveland and Mattie Rachel Nowlin Buck. He graduated from Waverly High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from 1951 to 1953 in Korea.
On May 26, 1950, he married Joan Green in Independence, Missouri. She survives at the home. Ron had been a farmer and had served as a Road Commissioner for twenty years. He was a member of the Waverly Methodist Church, Waverly, Missouri and an honorary member of the Waverly Jaycees.
He is also survived by two daughters; Judy Jo Wilcox, Wichita, Kansas, Ronna Christopherson and husband Richard, Waverly, Missouri; one son, Larry Buck and wife Kelly, Waverly, Missouri; one niece, Martha Young, Medford, Oregon; five granddaughters and one great grandson.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Jane Winsborough and one brother, Twyman Buck.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 10:30 a.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri, with Reverend Mike Koch officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri.
Mr. Buck will lie in state on Friday, August 20, 2004 from 2-7:00 p.m., at the Gibson Funeral Home in Waverly.
