HILL OBITUARY
Emma Lee Hill, age 83, of Carrollton, Missouri, died August 1, 1999, at the Carrollton Nursing Center.
She was born September 21, 1915, in Wakenda Township, Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of Lloyd and Tabatha Howard Jones.
She owned grocery stores in Brunswick and Wakenda for a number of years. She also drove the OATS bus.
She was a former member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church, the Brunswick Baptist Church and the Southside Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
On April 30, 1932, she was married to Glen Hill in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1980.
Survivors include three sons, Glen Hill, Jr., Carrollton, Gordon Hill, Garden City, Missouri, and Charles Richard Hill, Liberty, Missouri; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, August 4, 1999, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, conducted by Reverend Lanny Lybarger. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions to the Carrollton Senior Center, the American Cancer Society or the Carroll County Historical Society in memory of Mrs. Hill.

SUMNER OBITUARY
Charles William Sumner, age 54, of Tina, Missouri, died September 15, 1999, at his home.
He was born April 27, 1945, in Bosworth, Missouri, the son of William Ernest and Lena Belle Ray Sumner. He graduated from Bosworth High School. He was a farmer and dozer operator.
He attended the Bosworth Methodist Church.
On August 3, 1964, he was married to Rosa Lee Shields in Bogard, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Karen Sue Sykes, Tina, and Kimberly Ann Miller, Carrollton; his mother, Lena Belle Sumner, Carrollton; six brothers, Ernest Ray Sumner, Olathe, Kansas, James Richard Sumner, Kansas City, Missouri, John Wayne Sumner, Independence, Missouri, Emmett Eugene Sumner, Carrollton, Harold Dwayne Sumner, California, Missouri, and Daniel Joseph Sumner, Carrollton; five sisters, Carol Jean Sanders, Sedalia, Missouri, Barbara Ann Arnold, Tina, Margie Belle Noah, and Dorothy Mae Audsley, both of Carrollton, and Mary Lou Jensen, Lawrence, Kansas; four grandchildren, Tiffany Jo and Tara Lee Sykes, Whitney Nicole Tonnar and Bryce Alan Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Robert Lee Sumner.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M., Friday, September 17, 1999, at the Gibson Funeral Home in
Carrollton, conducted by Reverend Bruce Trussell. Burial will be in Wharton Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri.
There will be no set visitation; friends may call after 9:00 A.M., Friday, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton.
The family suggests contributions to "Family Choice" in memory of Mr. Sumner.

HANSEL OBITUARY
Virginia Clark Hansel, age 87, of Carrollton, Missouri, died October 26, 1999, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
She was born July 15, 1912, in Benton City, Missouri, the daughter of Charles F. and Sally Ann Peyton Clark. She attended high school in Mexico, Missouri, and was a graduate of Chillicothe Business College.
She was a statistician for the Agricultural Adjustment Act, in Columbia, Missouri, was secretary/treasurer for the American Tuberculosis Association, and was a tax preparer for H. & R. Block.
She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aide, the Carrollton Forum Club, Carroll County Democratic Committee, Domestic Dames Extension Club and the PTA. She also served as a 4-H Community Leader and Girl Scout Leader.
On August 24, 1941, she was married to William Clayton Hansel in Columbia, Missouri. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include three daughters and their husbands: Joyce and Krist Foss, Ocala, Florida, Debbie and Stan Minnick, and Nancy and Glenn Kaiser, all of Carrollton; six grandchildren, Cindy Lindsey, and her husband, Hayward, Kristie Scheler, and her husband, Jason, Brad and Ryan Minnick, Melissa Cromley, and her husband, Jason, and Marc Kaiser; two sisters, Marie Hilker, Denver, Colorado, and Ruth McKibben, and her husband, Sam, Columbia, Missouri; two sisters- in-law, Lucille Hansel Flynn, Carrollton, and Dorothea McDaniel, Tacoma, Washington; three brothers-in-law and their wives, Glenn and Naomi Hansel, Bogard, Missouri, Perry and Jean Hansel, Minooka, Illinois, and Harry and Doris Hansel, Hastings, Minnesota; six great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Eugene Clark.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Saturday, October 30, 1999, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carrollton, conducted by Pastor Eric Swyres. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton.
The family suggests contributions to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Radio Fund or the Oak Hill Cemetery in memory of Mrs. Hansel.

THOMAS OBITUARY
Nancy L. Thomas, age 67, of Carrollton, Missouri, died October 2, 1999, at the Carrollton Nursing Center.
She was born November 7, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Harold Lee and Beatrice Adeline Davis Wright. She attended grade and high school in Westwood, New Jersey, graduating in 1949. She graduated from Moravian College for Women in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
She was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church, the Trotter Hustler Extension Club and Carrollton Nursing Center Volunteers.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Thomas, Louisville, Kentucky, and Susie Davis, and her husband, Stephen, Elora, Tennessee; one brother, Edward Wright; and one granddaughter, Rachel Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David.
Cremation.
Graveside memorial services were conducted by Reverend Jim West at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 4, 1999, at Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton.
The family suggests contributions to the Carrollton Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. Thomas. They may be left at or mailed to the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton.

MOENTMANN OBITUARY
A Norborne, Missouri resident, Rudolf M. Moentmann, age 87, died October 6, 1999, at the Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, Missouri.
He was born November 4, 1911, in Norborne, Missouri, the son of August and Anna Caroline Biewener Moentmann.
He attended Concordia High School and Teachers' College in River Forest, Illinois, and received a B.S. Degree from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.
He taught school for one year in Mayer, Minnesota, then 16 years at St. Lorenz Lutheran School in Frankenmuth, Michigan, five years at Holy Cross Lutheran School, Emma, Missouri, and one year at the Trinity Lutheran School in Norborne. He was an agent for Concordia Farmers Mutual Insurance Company and was the manager of Cunningham-Beckemeier in Norborne for 27 years.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Norborne.
On July 29, 1934, he was married to Freda Nora Schiffmann in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Norborne. She preceded him in death on May 5, 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Olson, Memphis, Tennessee, and Sylvia Jacob, Lewiston, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 9, 1999, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Norborne, conducted by Pastor Kim Scharff. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Norborne.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Norborne.
The family suggests contributions to Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska, or the Lutheran Layman's League in memory of Mr. Moentmann.

ALLEN OBITUARY
Joseph L. (Joe) Allen, age 85, of Tina, Missouri, died October 3, 1999 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Missouri.
Mr. Allen was born September 17, 1914,in Exline, Missouri, the son of Bert and Ivona Vincent Allen.
He had lived in the Carroll County area most of his life. He worked for many years as a supervisor for Intrusion Prepak, a bridge construction company. He later owned and operated a farm near Tina.
He was a member of the Bogard Baptist Church.
On July 7, 1934, he was married to Helen L. Austin, in Brunswick, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include a son, Danny Joe Allen, and his wife, Virginia, Tina, Missouri; a daughter, Rosalie Hedrick, and her husband, Kenneth, Carrollton; three grandchildren, Davie Jo Allen, and his wife, Denise, Carrollton, Jason Hedrick, Carrollton, and Kynetta Blankenship, and her husband, Larry, Bogard, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Darcy, Dylan and Delaney
Allen, B.J. and Kira Hedrick, and Taira, Brice and Katana Blankenship; one brother-in-law, Roy Henderson; one niece and several nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Parlee Henderson, one brother, Floyd Allen, and one grand-daughter, Donna Jo Allen.
Funeral services were conducted by Reverend Bruce Trussell at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 5, 1999, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial was in Coloma Cemetery, Coloma, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Mr. Allen.

COOPER OBITUARY
John Elvin Cooper, age 67, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, died October 31, 1999, at his home.
He was born April 10, 1932, in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of John Elvin and Ruby Burkhart Cooper. He attended school in Carrollton and worked as a welder for A.C.F. Industries in North Kansas City, Missouri.
He was a member of the Northmoor Assembly of God Church.
On November 8, 1980, he was married to Betty Lou Webb in Northmoor. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include a step-daughter, Patricia Lawson, Lake Forest, California; one brother, George E. Cooper, Liberty, Missouri; two sisters, Priscilla Abernathy, Cordova, Tennessee, and Nicy Sherwood, Kansas City, Missouri; two granddaughters, Jennifer Christensen and Jody Paul; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Harry Lee.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 3, 1999, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M., Tuesday, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton.

DOOLEY OBITUARY
Mrs. Mary E. Dooley, age 77, of Bosworth, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 26, 1999, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri, where she had been an extended care patient since October, 1998.
Mary Ella Huffman, daughter of Frank Courtney and Mary (McKee) Huffman, was born southeast of Bosworth, Missouri, September 3, 1922. She attended Craig Rural School and was a graduate of Bosworth High School in 1940.
She was married to Ralph A. Dooley on April 26, 1942, by Reverend Icenogle in Carrollton. They lived on a farm northwest of Bosworth until 1987, when they moved to their present home in Bosworth.
Mary had worked as a clerk at the Bosworth Farmer's Store, and also as Bosworth School secretary, for nine years during the terms of Superintendents Virgil Walton and Glen Cain.
She was a member of the Bosworth Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; their son, Ralph Dennis Dooley, and his wife, Fran, of Carrollton; two step-grandsons, Kenny and Kelly Lewis, both of Eugene, Missouri, and one step- granddaughter, Donna Sumner, of Carrollton. She is further survived by five sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Mrs. Hazel Browning, and three brothers, Wayne, Vestol and Emery Huffman.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, December 28, 1999, at the Bosworth Christian Church, with Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. Burial will follow in Wharton Cemetery.
Visitation will be before the service from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Bosworth Christian Church or Wharton Cemetery.

BRAYTON OBITUARY
Dorothy French Brayton, 89, of Carrollton, MO, passed away, Wednesday, December 22, 1999, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, MO.
Dorothy was born August 19, 1910 near Nelson, Missouri, the daughter of Lee Emmett and Mary Elizabeth Kellems French. She attended grade schools in the area and graduated from Blackwater High School in 1927.
On March 29, 1930, she married Arthur E. Brayton in Marshall, Missouri; he preceded her in death June 25, 1974.
Mrs. Brayton moved to Carrollton, Missouri where she worked with her husband as an agent for Mobil Oil Corporation.
Dorothy was active in civic activities in the community where she was also a member of the First
Christian Church, the Forum Club MFWC, the Happy Homemakers Extension Club, and the Carrollton Country Club.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Shirley McCoy Brayton, Carrollton, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Brayton and James K. Allwood, Memphis, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Peggy Brayton Burgess, Leon, Iowa, James L. Brayton, Chillicothe, Missouri, and Kimberly Allwood Friddle, San Francisco, California; and two great- grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Alice Viets.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, December 27, 1999, at the First Christian Church in Carrollton, Missouri with the Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial was in the Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, MO .

DORSEY OBITUARY
Loreen Mohler Dorsey, 95, formerly of the Stet, Missouri community, passed away December 12, 1999, at the Armour Memorial Home, Kansas City, Missouri, where she had been a resident since 1995.
Loreen, the daughter of Samuel Brown and Mary Ann Morgan Mohler, was born November 26, 1904, in the Low Gap community of Carroll County, Missouri. She attended Kidder Institute, Columbia High School and graduated in the Braymer High School Class of 1923. She attended William Jewell College and graduated with a degree in education from the University of Missouri where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She was an elementary teacher in Rushville, Bogard and Richmond, Missouri.
On January 3, 1937, she married John Bruce Dorsey and they began their life together on the Dorsey farm, near Stet. Following his death in 1965, she continued to manage the farming operation for 30 years. She was recognized for her outstanding soil conservation practices.
An active member of her community, she served on the boards of Stet Feeders Supply and Norborne Medical Center as well as being a founder and first president of the Ray County Parent- Teacher Association. She was a loyal participant in Democrat politics and served as a committeewoman for over 30 years. She was also a member of the University of Missouri- Columbia Alumni Association and the Jefferson Club.
Mrs. Dorsey was a past member of American Association of University Women and Au Courant Literary Club. She was a 59 year member of Chapter Q, P.E.O. Sisterhood. Bridge was a favorite pastime and she was active in church women's activities.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Dr. William R. Krauss, Columbus, Ohio, and Sue and A. Overton Durrett, Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Dr. William D. Krauss, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Susan E. Krauss, John F. Krauss and Katherine A. Krauss Ryan, all of Columbus, Ohio, and John D. Durrett, Atlanta, Georgia, one brother, Samuel B. Mohler, Braymer, Missouri; and three great-grandsons, twins, Robert D. and Thomas A. Krauss, and John C. Krauss.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 16, 1999, at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Stet.
Friends may call from 1:30 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
