JULIE ANITA JULIAN
Julie Anita Julian, 45, El Dorado Springs, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at St. John's Springfield after a five year battle with cancer.
Julie was born July 1, 1956, in Joplin to Joan and Willis Kline. She graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Julie married Jerry Julian Nov. 1, 1975. They were blessed with two children, Jaime Renea and Jared Aurthur.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willis Kline, and a sister, Karen. She is survived by Jerry, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Jaime Larson, and husband, Adam-Chicago, IL; one son, Jared, of the home; her mother, Joan Lansu; a sister, Carol Norman-Marshfield; a brother, Stephen Kline-Broomfield, CO; nephews; nieces; other relatives and friends.
Anita will be sadly missed by all. She has been cremated.
Her wishes were to have no services; however if the family decides to have a memorial service at a later date, it will be announced in the paper.

IRA LEE SOARD
Ira Lee Soard, 64, was born Jan. 26, 1937, in Decatur, AR, to William Thomas and May Elizabeth Black Soard and passed away Sept. 7, 2001, in California. He worked for Ford Motor Co. in Claycomo, for 20 years. He was a member of the Freedom Freewill Baptist Church of Garfield, AR.
Ira liked to fish and go mushroom hunting. He and his wife built homes besides working at Ford Motor Co.
Ira was preceded in death by a daughter, Darla Kay, his parents and a brother, Tom “Bunk” Soard Jr.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 43 years, Luceta (Lucy) Soard of the home, three sons - Darren-El Dorado Springs, Curtis and his wife, Michelle-Ellsinore, MO, Donnie-Mission, KS and fiancee, Sarah-Lenexa, KS; two sisters, Virginia Moody-Fort Smith, AR and Rose Todd-Englewood, CO. Also five grandchildren - Brandee, Tye, Christopher, Nicholas and Jessica; three step-grandchildren - Billy, Cole and Kay.
He will be greatly missed by many friends and family.
Services were held on Saturday, Sept. 8, in Sheldon Chapel in El Dorado Springs with Rev. James Coleman officiating under the direction of the Sheldon Funeral Home of El Dorado Springs. Interment was in the Walnut Hill Cemetery, Avoca, AR.

GRACE EVELYN JOHNSON
Grace Evelyn Johnson, 80, was born March 20, 1921, in El Dorado Springs to William and Mary D. (Hardie) Shipley. She passed away Sept. 4, 2001, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs.
She grew up in El Dorado Springs and spent most of her life here. In 1936, Grace was united in marriage to Wilbern Leslie Roby. Four children were born to this union.
Grace was later married to Ed McLay who preceded her in death.
She loved people and her involvement with her work and her family showed this love. She loved helping her family and others.
Grace was preceded in death by two sons, Leroy Roby and George McLay; four brothers - Woody, Jim, Elmer and Bill Shipley; four sister - Cora Hardin, Ruth Palmer, Goldia Gilbert and Easter Breeden.
She is survived by her husband, Dwain, of the home; three daughters - Joann Franklin-El Dorado Springs, Rose Heckadon-Springfield and Elverna Morley-Canyon City, CO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

MYRL WHITE SWOPES
Myrl White Swopes, 84, was born May 31, 1917, in Cedar County to Don and Lucy (Cargill) Huff. She passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at the Barone Alzheimers Care Center in Nevada to Robert O. and Renae Martin Ely. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1997. He was employed by Alliant Food Service.
Survivors include his fiancee, Sarah Elizabeth Strick-Topeka; his stepfather and mother, Rick and Renae Meier-Topeka; a brother, Jeremiah Ray Ely-Topeka; two sisters, Robin Elizabeth Tyner-Miami, OK and Rebecca Rose Stone-Baxter Springs, and a grandmother, Eleanor Ely-Kansas City.
Service were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, Topeka, KS. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Daniel spent his younger years in El Dorado Springs while his father, Bob Ely, was pastor at the Filley Christian Church. Everyone there greatly appreciated and loved the whole family.

HAROLD LEE HACKLEMAN
Harold Lee Hackleman, 78, El Dorado Springs, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001. Harold was born on May 10, 1923, the son of Charles and Gladys Maslen Hackleman.
Survivors include his wife, Lois, of the home; son, Randy-Parsons, KS; brother, Clarence Hackleman-El Dorado Springs; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Hackleman Chapel with interment in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home.
