Jimmie Deck

Jimmie Deck, 73, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Melbourne, Ark.

Born Sept.11, 1929, in Sulphur Rock, Ark., son of the late Bill and Annie Henderson Deck, he was a U.S. Marine veteran and a member of the American Legion.

On Dec. 4, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., he married Anna Ruth Mynatt, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include three sons, Tommie Deck, of Redwater, Texas, Leon Deck, of Benton, Ark. and Billie Deck, of Senath; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jared, Zachary, Michael, Michelle, Matthew, Kimberly and Emilie Deck; two brothers, Bobby and Teddy Deck, both of Senath and two sisters, Margie Keen, of Senath and Dorthy Lane, of Clarkesdale, Miss.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lon, Johnny and Jeff "Peewee" Deck; one sister, Jauanita Jackson and two infant sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 25, at the First Baptist Church in Senath.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Robert Allen Deck, Robby Shrum, Yancy Poorman, Mark Dunivan, Don Wallace and Derek Combs.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.

Raymond DeMay

Raymond DeMay, 88, of Campbell, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at his residence.

Born June 3, 1914, in Carreyville, Ark., son of the late George Henry and Mary Magdelene Miles DeMay, he was a farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Campbell.

On Jan. 25, 1941, in Kennett, he married Norma May Woodliff, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include three daughters, Juanita Barnes, of Malden, Mo., Lois Barnes and husband, Larry, of Jonesboro, Ark. and Karen King and husband, Wayne, of Campbell; one son, Kenneth DeMay and wife, Brenda, of Campbell; one brother, Gerald DeMay; four sisters, Betty Cates, Juanita DeMay, Meriel Raper and Dorthy Lorene Wood; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three grandchildren; four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with the Rev. Bill Jackson officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery at Campbell.

Almer Gardner

Rev. Almer C. Gardner, 91, of Kennett, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dale Rickman and Don Crawford officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Glenda Gibbons

Glenda Lou Gibbons, 71, of Caruthersville, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at River Oaks Care Center in Caruthersville.

Born Aug. 21, 1931, in Clarkton, Mo., daughter of the late Raymond H. and Imogene Gum Clayton, she was former owner and operator of the West End Package Store and Westgate Hotel in Kennett and of the Methodist faith. On July 4, 1982, in Dyersburg, Tenn., she married Walter Laurence Gibbons, who preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1997. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Clayton, Jr.

Survivors include one sister, Sue Swinger and husband, Terry, of Caruthersville; one nephew, Anthony Swinger, of Indianapolis, Ind. and one niece, Teleigha Clayton, of Jackson, Tenn.

No services were held.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemtery at Clarkton.

Landess Funeral Home of Malden, Mo. was in charge of arrangements.

Jana Gossett

Jana Laurine Gossett, 93, of Kennett, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett.

Donley Martin

Donley Ray Martin, 68, of Holcomb, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born April 25, 1934, in Holcomb, son of Clarence Marion and Alma Elizabeth Cross Martin, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked for General Motors.

In 1965, he married Ina Jean Crawford Williams, who preceded him in death in 1985. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Blanche Williams and seven brothers, Lawrence, Loy "Bud", James "Bill", Marion, Winfred "Wink", Clayton "Pug" and Langdon Martin.

Survivors include one son, Donley Martin II and wife, Bryanna, of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Marsha Payne and husband, John, of Covington, Tenn. and Cassee Horn and husband, Dale, of Paragould, Ark.; two step-sons, Scott Williams and wife, Catherine, of St. Charles, Mo. and Kent Williams, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Nunley, of Kennett and Mildred Blanchard, of St. Louis, Mo. and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Donley R. Martin II and Scott Williams officiating.

Burial will be at the Linwood cemetery in Paragould.

George Nicklison

George "Bud" Nicklison, 70, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Denny Brown officiating.

Burial will follow at the Lulu cemetery.

J.L. Parks

J.L. Parks, 70, of Campbell, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born April 30, 1932, in Campbell, son of the late Ralph Burtis Parks and Opal Mae Cluck, he was former alderman of Campbell, Member of Emergency Management of Campbell, the Lions Club and a member of the First Assembly of God in Campbell. He was former director of Campbell Civil Defense, volunteer fireman with Campbell Fire Department and an auxillary policeman for Campbell Police.

On May 14, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., he married Janice Thacker, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include four daughters, Terry Romine and Diane Edwards and husband, Allen, all of Campbell, Roxie Floyd and husband, Chuck, of Dallas, Texas and Sharon Kay Parks, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one brother, Ron Parks and wife, Sue, of Ermine Ky.;10 grandchildren, JoAnn Renee Pace, Allen Edwards II, Cheryl Vernon, Melissa Burrow, Gayla Romine, Trey, Jay and Kay Floyd and Nikki and Jospeh Page and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Bill Parks and one grandson, Jacob Page.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the First Assembly of God in Campbell with the Rev. Larkin Enlow officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery at Campbell.

Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of arrangements.

Zackwrie Parr, Sr.

Zackwrie "Bud" Parr, Sr., 74, of Kennett, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at his residence.

Born April 10, 1928, in Kennett, son of the late Zack and Flora Pearl Churchwell Parr, he was a veteran, owner/operator of Parr's Grocery and a member of the Solid Rock Church in Kennett.

He married Bonnie Sue Daniels, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include four sons, Dr. Zackwrie Scott Parr, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Tony Anthony Parr and wife, Kerri, Rev. Zack Parr and wife, Chris and Marco Scot Parr, all of Kennett; one daughter, Tresa Annette Parker and husband, Dewayne, of Kennett; one brother, Gary Parr, of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Mattie Lee McGhee, of Kennett and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Solid Rock Church in Kennett.

Funeral srvices wil be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the Solid Rock Church with the Revs. Carroll McGruder and Louis Cordell officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers are Don Alford, Charles Halter, Murel Jones, Tommy Price, Kurt Sawyer and Odie Wake.

Honorary pallbearers are T.R. Baker, J.R. Early, Rudy Pylant and Dub Sturgeon.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.

James Shields

James Allen Shields, 73, of Rives, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at his residence.

Born May 15, 1929, in Carroll County, Tenn., son of the late William Allen Shields and Vernie Taylor, he was a U.S. Army veteran.

On April 17, 1965, he married Cora Lee Hartle, who preceded him in death on June 21, 2002.

Survivors include many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral servicecs were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Robbin Pritchett officiating.

Burial was in the Lulu cemetery at Senath, Mo.

Pallbearers were Alton, Kenny and Larry Payne, Larry Conley, Danny Bray and David Daniels.

Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Decker, Robert Pritchett and Archie Scott.

Winona Davis

Winona Davis, 94, of Parma, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Jan. 8, 1908, she was an elementary school teacher and a member of the St. Ann Church in Malden, Mo.

On July 13, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, she married Virgil Richard Davis, who preceded her in death on May 28, 1992.

Survivors include two sons, James Davis, of Parma and Richard Davis, of Carterville, Ill.; three daughters, Claudine Dattilo, of Memphis, Tenn., Charlotte Wallhermfechtel, of St. Louis, Mo. and Marcia Bates, of Sikeston, Mo. and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the St. Ann Church in Malden with Father Glenn Eftink officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
