Daisy Shields

Daisy Lucille Shields, 89, of Kennett, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at National Health Care of Kennett.

Born March 9, 1914, at Essex, Mo., a daughter of the late George and Elva Hamlett, she attended the Solid Rock Church.

On Nov. 20, 1934, she married Raymond Shields, who preceded her in death Feb. 23, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Hamlett and a granddaughter, Donna Wilburn.

Survivors include on son, Don Shields and his wife, Euvila, of Wright City, Mo. and one daughter, Ramah George and her husband, H.E., of Kennett; two grandchildren, Christy Tate of Wright City and Carla Horton of Cabot, Ark.; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, in McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett, with the Rev. Zack Parr officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ronnie McElwrath, Doyne Shelton, Wayne Shelton, Jim Shipman, Lowell DePriest and Delbert Husky.

James White

James "Eddie" White, 77, of Kennett, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at his home.

Born March 1, 1926, at Pontotoc, Mich., a son of the late Andrew Payton and Lettie R. Sappington White, he was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include his former wife, Geneva White of Kennett; a son, Jimmy R. White, and wife, Sherrie, of Marion, Ark., a daughter, Judy A. Gidcomb and husband, Gary, of Bentonville, Ark.; two brothers, Robert White of Gillett, Ark. and Carl White of Southaven, Miss; a sister, Sarah Robison of Kennett; four grandchildren, Stephanie Moller, Tabitha Shipman, Jennifer Wisley and Angela Throckmorton; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor and Caitlin Rutherford, Alex Moeller, Braden and Tanner Shipman, Noah Wisley, Hunter Throckmorton and baby Throckmorton due May 16.

Funeral services were 2 p.m Saturday, April 12, in McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Ben Jordan officiating.

Burial in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers were Calr Faries, Gary Mitchell, Jack Lemonds, James Gregory, Bobby Simmons and Allen Snipes.

William Bowling

William Bowling, 81, of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Campbell.

E.S. Johnson

E.S. "Shorty" Johnson, 86, of Turrell, Ark., died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Turrell.

Born April 24, 1916, in Morganfield, Ky., he was the son of the late Glenn Marshall and Annie Rosetta Parish Johnson.

On Dec. 18, 1976, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Betty Jean Jenkins, who preceded him in death on July 26, 1997. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Bernice Strode.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Alevia Kitchen and Betty Lynn Baxter, both of Moberly, Mo.; two sisters, Betty White, of Turrell and Pauline Smith, of Grand Haven, Mich. and two brothers, Lotis and Otis Johnson, both of Wasco, Calif.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donny Morrison officiating.

Burial was in the Maple cemetery at Caruthersville, Mo.

Pallbearers were Robert Barnes, Curt Darnell, Dennis Ford, Danny Franklin and Dick and Joe White.

Ruby Johnson

Ruby H. Johnson, 77, of Flint, Mich., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Flint.

Born Nov. 25, 1925, in Senath, she was the daughter of the late Hughie and Jennie Ray.

She married James Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Gaylon Ray. Survivors include one sister, Margaret Wilkins, of Flint; one sister-in-law, Veda Ray, of Tawas City, Mich.; three nieces, five nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, at the Senath cemetery with the Rev. Denny Brown officiating.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.

Jimmy Justus

Jimmy George Justus, 43, of Senath, Mo., died Monday, April 7, 2003, at his residence.

Born Aug. 17, 1959, in Kennett, he was the son of Janice Kramer Campbell Justus, of Senath and the late Walter Justus.

On Oct. 3, 1998, in Kennett, he married Diana Floyd, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one son, Jerry Lynn Martin, of Mexico, Mo.; one daughter, Shirley Martin; one step-son, Danny Joe Payne and wife, Jennifer, of Frisco, Colo.; one step-daughter, Anite Poe Smith and husband, Glenn, of Harrington, Del.; two half-brothers, David Lee Pierce and Charles Justus; six half-sisters, Evelyn Justus, Susan Marie and Juanta Lee Pierce, Jennie Lea Ward, Emma Pierce Johnson and Melissa Bond; 10 grandchildren, Devin Patrick, Tina, Jenny, Patrick, Kimberly, Kayla, Dakota, Ashley, Jospeh and Daniel Martin and six step-grandchildren, Ian, Tyler, Tia, Jacob, Caleb and Gabrielle.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Justus; two step-sons, Donnie Cole Payne and Sammy Gene Poe; one step-daughter, Jakilynn Le Martin; two grandchildren, Embre Jade and Kayelynne Christian-Anne Martin and three grandsons.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Church of Christ in Senath with Greg Pollock officiating.

Burial was in the Senath cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dickie Don Karnes, Billy Charles Johnson, Gary Renfrow, Mardon Layne, Byron Small, Haze Montgomery, A.B. Karnes, Scotty Jackson, Bob Smith, Keith Morgan, Harold Lee Watson, Lee Meredith, Jimmy Wilkins, Charles Crawford and Randal Ridings.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.

Lucile LaGore

Lucile Brown LaGore, 86, of Kennett, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at her residence.

She was a nurse and a member of the First Baptist Church in Kennett.

She married Bill LaGore, who preceded her in death in 1981.

Survivors include one son, David LaGore, of Kennett; one sister, Blanche Burke, of Indianapolis, Ind.; two grandchildren, Janice Meredith Hundley and Rebecca Ann Bozarth and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the Oaklawn cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Langford's Funeral Service in Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.

Leota Spain

Leota Virginia Spain, 74, of Sullivan, Mo., died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Grandview Healthcare Center in Washington, Mo.

Born March 18, 1929, in Tallapoosa, Mo., daughter of the late Ben and Mary Maggie Mollineaux Eakens, she was of the Baptist faith.

She was married to Wallace Spain.

Survivors include two daughters, Vanessa Priester, of Washington and Debbie Hilderbrand, of St. Charles, Mo.; one sister, Glodene Thompson, of Parma, Mo.; one brother, Ron Eakens, of Parma; two grandchildren, Crystal Priester, of Florissant, Mo. and Justin Busse, of St. Charles; two great-grandchildren and companion, Douglas Foster, of Sullivan.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Eakens and two sisters, Brenda Wallis amd Annabell Miller.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 15, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo. with the Rev. Mark Powell officiating.

Burial was in the Rosewood cemetery at Malden.

Earnest Allison

Earnest A. Allison, 72, of Wood River, Ill., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Ill.

Born July 2, 1930, in Senath, he was the son of the late James Titus and Mary Alice Grooms Allison.

On June 26, 1949, he married Patricia Wininger, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include three sons, Dennis, of Rosewood Heights, Ill., Perry, of Edwardsville, Ill. and Douglas, of Cottage Hills, Ill.; one daughter, Randi Allison, of E. Alton, Ill.; one sister, Betty Downing, of Bragg City, Mo.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James Edward Allison and two sisters, Lottie Compton and Willodean Krause.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, April 15, at the Ivy Heights Church of God in Wood River with Bro. Stephen Greer officiating.

Christine Johnson

Christine Johnson, 92, of Hayti, Mo., died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Hayti.

Born Oct. 6, 1910, in Alligator, Miss., daughter of the late Pluck and Mandy Cross, she was a member of the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include one step-son, J.C. Clements and wife, Boncile, of Widener, Ark.; two nephews, Curtis Moss, of Dallas, Texas and Arnold Moss, of Chicago, Ill. and two grand-nieces, Marilyn Williams, of Markham, Ill. and Annissa Johnson, of Arkansas.

Funeral services were held at noon Saturday, April 12, at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Hayti with Elder Courtney Sanders officiating.

Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Jimmy O'Neal, Tracy Williams, Michael Fair and Eddie West.

Honorary pallbearer was J.C. Clements.

John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.

Alice Watson

Alice Watson, 95, of Hollister, Mo., died Monday, April 14, 2003, at her residence.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday, April 18, at the Church of God in Malden, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Church of God.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.

Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden is in charge of arrangements.
