Olean Holcomb

Olean Holcomb, 75, of Cardwell, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at her residence.

Born December 25, 1926, in Cardwell, daughter of the late Ritchard Lee and Esther Hart Cato, she was a former employee of Ely & Walker Shirt Factory and a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church.

She married Robert Lee "R.L." Holcomb, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Bill R. Cato; two sisters, Daisy Cato and Ella "Tobe" Cato-Jarrett and one stepson.

Survivors include two daughters, Janelle Wells Zoleman and Michelle Hall and husband, Ray, of Cardwell; one brother, Charles "Poss" Cato and wife, Shirley, of Monette, Ark.; four grandsons, Ritchard Zolman, Justin, Dylan, and Andrew Hall; three granddaughters, Sherry Zolman-McClelland, Lea Sessums and Whitney Hall; one great-grandson, Chase McClelland; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Jordan Zolmam; three stepdaughters; five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould, Ark.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Forest Grove Baptist Church in Riverside, Mo., with Kenneth Hargrave officiating.

Burial will follow at the Cardwell cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kelly Cato, Earl, Ronald and Lyman Zolman, Dickie Bill and Byron Cato.

Guye Shields

Reverend Guye Shields, 89, of Kennett, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Born Aug. 10, 1912, in Mt. Grove, Mo., he was the son of the late William E. and Nora Pease Sheilds.

On Nov. 20, 1934, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married Daisy L. Hamlett, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one son, Don Shields and wife, Euvilla, of Wright City, Mo.; one daughter, Ramah Shields George and husband, W.E., of Kennett; one brother, Eugene Shields of Exeter, Calif.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Wayne Bowman, Carlton Johnson and Zack Parr officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Doyne Shelton, Gary Wilburn, Jim Shipman, Darrell Moody, Ronnie McElwrath and Randy Wilburn.

Florine Swain

Florine Swain, 76, of Senath, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at her residence.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Senath Church of Christ with Greg Pollock officiating.

Burial will follow at the Senath cemetery.

Martha Williams

Martha Ann Pullum Williams, 90, of Liberty, Texas., formerly of Malden, Mo. and Dexter, Mo., died on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at the Liberty-Dayton Hospital in Liberty.

Born August 28, 1911, in Essex, Mo., daughter of the late Herbert and Serena McCoy Pullum.

Survivors include two sons, Cletus Ray Parris of Cleveland, Texas. and Billy Joe Pope of Festus, Mo.; three daughters, Evelyn Jane Moore of Liberty, Shirley Maxine Fadler of Barnhart, Mo and Delores Ann Corlew of Clarkton, Mo.; three brothers, Lloyd Pullum of Dexter, Floyd Pullum of Malden and Leo Pullum of Essex, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Wilson of Overland, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Kay Parris; two sisters, Virgie Qualls and Pearl Knupp and two brothers, Andrew "Bud" and Bill Pullum.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Dexter, Mo., with Rev. Doyle Corlew officiating.

Burial was in the Essex cemetery.

Ruby Bailey

Ruby Bailey, 99, of Clakton, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark.

Born Feb. 18, 1903, in Clarkton, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Mary Susan O'hara Moore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church in Clarkton.

On Jan. 17, 1925, in Holcomb, Mo., she married Lester Odell Bailey, who preceded her in death on July 15, 1932. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Louise James and Mary Isaacs; two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one son, Luther Odell Bailey of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Ola Sharp and husband, Charles, of Schertz, Texas; two sisters; Hazel Evans, of Piggott, Ark. and Grace Lee, of Campbell, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Clarkton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo. with the Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating.

Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton.

Amy Carter

Amy Iva Lee Carter, 83, of Cardwell, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Daughter of the late Jim and Amy Bell Burcham, she was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Paul A. Carter, of Cardwell; one son, Paul Wayne Carter and wife, Annette, of Cardwell; one granddaughter, Phyllis Rogers, of Searcy, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Claire Rogers; one brother, Dr. James Russell Burcham, of Kennett.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Irena Summitt, Connie Florence and Viola Burcham.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville, Ark.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel with Mr. David Flannery officiating.

Burial will follow at the Cardwell cemetery.

Pallbearers are Bob Peel, Gregg McGrew, Cliff Cupp, Bret Rogers, Don Noblin and Norman James.

Edwin Cope

Edwin Glass Cope, 87, of Farmington, Mo., formerly of Hornersville, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at the Mineral Area Medical Center in Farmington.

Born Nov. 23, 1914, in Hornersville, Mo., son of the late Edwin Grey and Harriet Jane Glass Cope, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII.

On Dec. 22, 1940, he married Aletrus Rauls, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one daughter, Anne Hart and husband, Jim, of Farmington; one sister, Mary Kennett, of Hornersville and two grandchildren, Lynne Grey and Anne Elizabeth Hart, both of St. Louis, Mo.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Hornersville with Rev. Mike Hargraves officiating.

Burial was in the Horner cemetery in Hornersville.

Pallbearers were David Don Pierce, John L. Edmonston, Justin Edmonston, Aaron Edmonston, Mark Moore and Tim Waggoner.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.

Eddie Dyson

Eddie Dyson, 82, of Kennett, Mo., formerly of Covert, Mich., died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at his home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Covert and Mount Sinai Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff Mo.

Dyson was a Mason and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Dyson of the home; two sons, the Rev. Albert Williams of Kennett and Matthew Davis of Chicago; two daughters, Ella Harrington of Covert and Mrs. Archie Wallace of Clarksdale, Miss.; a stepdaughter, Turnetta Danzey Smith of Chicago; and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Mount Sinai Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Covert.

Collins Chapel Mortuary Inc. of Blytheville is in charge of arrangements.

Patsy Alexander

Patsy June Alexander, 55, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at her residence.

Born July 18, 1946, in Caruthersville, she was the daughter of the late Joe Bacon and Oma Mae McClendon Weddington.

On Sept. 16, 1978, in Caruthersville, she married Paul Charles Alexander, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Terry Lowe and wife, Tina, of Sikeston, Mo. and Larry Lowe, of Caruthersville; two grandchildren, Corey and Tyler Lowe of Sikeston; one brother, Michael Weddington, of Caruthersville and one sister, Judy Maupin, of Wappapello, Mo.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.

Burial was held in the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.

Pallbearers were Steve Clark, Ray Wilson, Bobby, Johnny and Daniel Figgins and Scott Moore.

Lizzie Buck

Lizzie Belle Buck, 98, of Paragould, Ark., died Monday, February 25, 2002, at the Green Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.

Born April 11, 1903, in Hornersville, Mo., daughter of the late Newt and Callie Harkey Buck, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hornersville, Mo. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley and Edison Buck and one sister, Florence Ridings.

Survivors include two brothers Sylvan "Seb" Buck, of Farmington, Mo., Alvy Buck, of Kennett; two sisters, Gladys Dollins, of Edinburg, Texas and Oleda Brewer, of Paragould.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 28, at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville, Mo. with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.

Burial was in the Horner cemetery at Hornersville.

Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home of Hornersville was in charge of arrangements.

Dora Ozbun

Dora Ozbun, 88, of Senath, Mo., died today, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at Heritage Residential Care Center in Kennett.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath.
