Mazie Crafton

Mazie Crafton, 70, of Bragg City, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at her residence.

Born March 9, 1932, in Hackleburg, Ala., daughter of the late Eckward "E.L." and Genner Hudson Jackson, she was a member of the Bragg City First Baptist Church.

On Nov. 26, 1949, she married Lloyd Lindol Crafton, who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2000. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Scott, Jerry "John" and Matthew Jackson and two sisters, Inez Mauldin and Thelma Jackson.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry Dale Crafton, of Houston, Texas, Michael Lloyd Crafton, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Ricky Dewayne and Timothy Alan Crafton, both of Walls, Miss.; one daughter, Cheryl Crafton, of Bragg City; one brother, J.D. Jackson, of Newport, Tenn.; two sisters, Lucille Marchbanks, of Campbell, Mo. and Sue Lentz, of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Troy, Travis, Eric, Brittany, Hali and Lillie Crafton, Lisa Gholson and Tina Baker; three great-grandchildren, Bailey Baker and Paytin and Kaytlin Gholson and a pet companion, Cinnamon.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 17, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Bragg City First Baptist Church with the Revs. Dale Rickman and O.H. Brooks officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Gene Marchbanks, Gary Jackson, John Lentz, Steve Crafton, Terry Jackson, Roger Jackson, Brian Jackson, Mike Crafton and Tommy Crafton.

Guy Derby

Guy Derby, 76, of Campbell, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at his residence.

Arrangements are incomplete with Landess Funeral Home of Campbell.

Carl Hall

Carl Hall, 87, of Kennett, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Arrangements are incomplete with McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett.

Heather Martin

Heather Ann Martin, 26, of Kennett, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in Kennett.

Born Aug. 6, 1976, at Poplar Bluff, Mo., a daughter of Jim Kirk of Kennett and the late Signa Hedge Kirk, she was a homemaker.

She married James Martin, Jr. who preceded her in death May 30, 2001.

Survivors include here fiancé, Ted Smithson of Kennett; a son, Chase Ryan Martin of Kennett; step-son, Brant Martin of Kennett; a brother, Micah Kirk of Doniphan, Mo. and a sister, Leslie Kirk of Kennett.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 19, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with Charlie Crawford officiating.

Burial in the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Parks, Ben Cuff, Chad Neal, Lenny Young, Darren Isbell and Chris Higgins.

Gary Alsup

Gary Alsup, 60, of Kennett, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at his residence.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Guy Derby

Guy R. Derby, 76, of Campbell, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at his residence.

Born Feb. 20, 1926, in Battle Creek, Mich., he was a U.S.Navy veteran, serving in WWII, a member of the Campbell General Baptist Church and a member of the Odd Fellow's Lodge in Campbell. He worked as a line and type operator for Gideon/Clarkton News, Piggott Banner and Gamble Printing in Kennett.

On June 10, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., he married Betty Reed, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two nieces, Emma Lee Bass, of Campbell and Mary Lou Riddle, of Jonesboro, Ark. and four great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with Pastor Earl D. Dell officiating.

Burial with full military rites was held in the Woodlawn cemetery at Campbell.

Pallbearers were Jerry Riddle, Dennis Hamm, David Leonard, David Faughn, Jerry Felker and Tom Gamble.

Mary Dye

Mary G. Venters Dye, of Kennett, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Daughter of the late Hiram Chesley and Sarah Elizabeth Essary Robinson, she was a nurse's aide and a member of the Ely Baptist Church in Kennett.

On May 17, 1929, she married Frank Venters, who preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1965. She later married Edgar Dye on Nov. 11, 1967 and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1969. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Roy Robinson and five sisters, Lela Cagle, Lola Thomas, Annette Laster, Elna Johnston and Stella Holt.

Survivors include two sons, Buddy R. Venters and wife, Cynda, of Corpus Christi, Texas and Robin Venters and wife, Linda, of Kennett; one daughter, Mona Sutton Aldridge and husband, James, of Kennett; seven grandchildren, Mike Sutton and wife, Cindy, Cindy Woodburn and husband, Brian and Belinda King and husband, Paul, all of Kennett, Kelly Sutton and wife, Jacki, of Elsberry, Mo., Brett Venters and wife, Kellye and Cindy Kittles and husband, Chris, all of Corpus Christi and Leann Ashburn and husband, Kevin, of Cumming, Ga. and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Lloyd cemetery in Holcomb, Mo. with the Revs. Don Slatton and Dale Rickman officiating.

Pallbearers were Mike and Kelly Sutton, Brian Woodburn, James Aldridge and Paul King.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.

Carl Hall

Carl Thomas Hall, of Kennett, died Satruday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born April 5, 1915, in Thayer, Texas, he was the son of the late Tom and Sarah Willbanks Hall.

On May 9, 1940, in Kennett, he married Dora Arnold, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one brother, Willard Hall, of Doniphan, Mo. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Perl Nicewonger, Minnie Robinson, Thelma Roy and Nora McKinney Rose.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Emery officiiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ride cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Roger Lynxwiler, Jerry Neal, Mike Anthony, Bob Birkhead, Ron Whewmaker and Charles Smith.

Heather Martin

Heather Ann Martin, 26, of Kennett, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in Kennett.

Born Aug. 6, 1976, at Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of Jim Kirk of Kennett and the late Signa Hedge Kirk, she was a homemaker.

She married James Martin, Jr. who preceded her in death May 30, 2001.

Survivors include her fiancé, Ted Smithson of Kennett; one son, Chase Ryan Martin and one step-son, Brant Martin both of Kennett and their grandparents, James and Bonnie Martin, of Kennett; one brother, Micah Kirk of Doniphan, Mo.; one sister, Leslie Kirk of Kennett; one uncle, Frank Kirk and wife, Pat, of Gibson, Mo.; one aunt, Dolly Stanberry, of Kennett and two nieces, Meagan Kirk, of Kennett and Madison Kirk, of Doniphan.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Charlie Crawford officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.

Amanda McCall

Amanda Beth McCall, 23, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Hornersville, Mo.

Born Nov. 25, 1979, in Hayti, Mo., daughter of Dewayne and Wanda Christian McCall, of Caruthersville, she worked as a dental assistant and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Survivors also include one brother, Aaron McCall, of Caruthersville; two nieces, Jenifer and Hannah McCall, both of Caruthersville and many other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with Roy Thurman officiating.

Burial was in the Maple cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Jason Weber, Paul Glass, Dustin Drumwright, Paul M. Shaw, Keith Davis and Jason Foster.

Hazel McGrew

Hazel McGrew, 86, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the Senath Nursing Center.

Born June 12, 1916, in Rector, Ark., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Horace Morgan.

In 1946, in Kennett, she married Bill McGrew, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Ed McGrew and wife, Nancy, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Dennis McGrew and wife, May, of Katy, Texas; five grandchildren, Kelle Sadler, Jeremy, Joshua and Stephanie McGrew and Tracy Boyles and two great-grandchildren, Savannah Sadler and Morgan Boyles.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Denny Brown officiating.

Burial was in the McGrew cemetery at Senath.

Pallbearers were Ed, Dennis and Jeremy McGrew, Jeff Sadler and Bill Boyles.

Dessie Spicer

Dessie Spicer. 99, of Kennett, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
