Nadine Holman

Nadine Holman, 78, of Kennett, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennnett.

Born Aug. 21, 1923, in Rector, Ark., daughter of the late William Edward Berry and Georgia Ann Victoria Ward, she was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.

On Aug. 29, 1949, in Kennett, she married Hubert Holman, who preceded her in death on March 31, 1994. Survivors include one son, Elmo J. Sharp, of Kennett; four daughters, Laura Ann Crawford, of Carthage, Tenn., Alice Reyna Cunningham, Patsy Irene Smallmon and Jerris Smith, all of Kennett; one brother, Thomas Edward Berry, of St. Louis, Mo.; 30 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one son, Cleatie Edward Sharp; two daughters, Martha Nadine Hudgens and Jeanie McDowell; two brothers, W.E. and Uel Berry and five sisters, Leetha Johnson, Zelma Storey, Lena Burdin, Verlie Jenkins and Ola Burdin; one grandson and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 2, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett. Pallbearers were Jerry Smallmon Jr., Dean Tucker, Johnny Bogle, Ricky Burdin, Joe Lewellyng and Darell Wheeler.

Annie Hudgens

Annie Hudgens, 93, formerly of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in Winona, Minn.

Born Feb. 7, 1909, near Moscow, Tenn., daughter of the late Alfred and Cora Van Russum Watkins, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hayti.

Survivors include one daughter, Marie H. Burguin, of Show Low, Ariz.; one granddaughter, Theressa Howard Kruger, in Winona, Minn.; one sister, Evie Rubino, of Stockton, Calif. and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, June Coleman; two sons, John W. and Alfred Buddy Hudgens; seven brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the First Baptist Church in Hayti, Mo. with Dr. Mike Melton officiating. Burial was in the Portageville cemetery at Portageville. Pallbearers were B.A. Cross, W.T. Davidson, Jimmy Lee Wilson, James W. Wilson, Keith House and Jimmy Metzger. John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements. Nora Law Nora Law, 82, of Gideon, Mo., died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Gideon Care Center.

Born Jan. 3, 1920, in Campbell, Mo., daughter of the late Wayne Arthur and Nettie Langston House, she was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Gideon.

On April 17, 1939, in Piggott, Ark., she married Golvie Howard Law, who preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1991. Survivors include one son, Lawayne Law and wife, Faye, of Arab, Ala.; two sisters, Pauline Payne, of Qulin, Mo. and Melba Hillis, of Gideon; two grandchildren, David Lawayne Law and Sonda Barnes, of Arab and four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel David and Ryan Lawayne Law and Krystal Raye and Jerrad Lawayne Romero, all of Arab. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 2, at Bethal Assembly of God in Gideon with Revs. Glenn Graham and Larry Portwood officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead cemetery in Clarkton, Mo. Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon was in charge of arrangements. Grace Lincoln

Grace Lincoln

Grace Lincoln, 89, of Holcomb, Mo., died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Hetitage Nursing Care in Kennett.

Born April 5, 1912, in Shook, Mo., daughter of the late Leander Remark and Sarah Jane McCollister Underwood, she was a member of the Holcomb Missionary Baptist Church.

On Nov. 24, 1931, in Piggott, Ark., she married Elmer Clayton Lincoln, who preceded her in death on July 5, 1988. Survivors include on son, Bob Lincoln and wife, Mary, of Columbia, Mo.; one daughter, Jean McCormick and husband, Jerry, of Holcomb; three grandsons, David, Dennis and Jeffrey McCormick, all of Holcomb; three great-grandsons, Justin, Dylan and Payden; three great-granddaughters, Brittany, Emma, and Morgan; one sister, Melva Couture, of Ocala, Fla. and one sister-in-law, Martha Ward, of Puxico.

She was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 2, at Landess of Campbell, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell with Rev. Randy Vaughn officiating.

Burial will follow in the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton. Charles Malin

Charles H. Malin

Charles H. Malin, 80, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, March 25, 2002, at his resdience in Caruthersville.

Born June 24, 1921, in Malden, Mo., son of the late Lee and Flora Ponder Malin, he was a U.S. army veteran serving in the European Theatre under Patton's Third Army and was awarded four bronze stars, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a Postal clerk/carrier before his retirment and a member of the First Christian Church.

On Dec. 9, 1948, in Campbell, Mo., he married Marjorie Johnson, who preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 1988.

Survivors include two sons, David Malin and wife, Diana, of Houston, Texas and David Lewelling and wife, Mary, of Caruthersville, Mo.; two daughters, Kay Snow, of Caruthersville and Patty Wilson and husband, D.W., of Senath, Mo.; one brother, Gene Malin, Caruthersville and four grandchildren, Sarah and Hannah Malin, of Houston, and Tyler and Michelle Lewelling, of Caruthersville.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at The First Christian Church with Rev. Steve McFadden officiating. Burial was in the Maple cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Bullington, Dennis Green and Joe Pierce.

Pallbearers were Bill Eaker, Tyler Lewelling, Denny Baird, Corey Miller, Jerry Gurley and Mitchell Statler. H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lula Wheeler

Lula B. Wheeler, 101, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at her residence.

Born July 25, 1900, in Henderson County, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late William Lawson and Jenny Lee Morris Bishop and she was the oldest living member of the First Christian Church at the time of her death.

On Oct. 14, 1916, in Richwood, Tenn., she married Bud Wheeler who preceded her in death on April 6, 1968.

Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy Brown, of Millington, Tenn., Sue Culp, of Caruthersville, Mo., Ann Lux, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Joyce Simmons, of Blytheville, Ark. and Betty Fox, of Caruthersville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Clifton Wheeler; two brothers; two half brothers and one half sister.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Stephen McFadden officiating.

Burial was in the Maple cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chris and Kenny Bullington, Brad Simmons, Bill Brown, Austin Malone and Chris and Mike Lux. H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Louise Wilkins

Louise Harris Wilkins, 81, of Cloverdale Calif., died Saturday, March 23, 2002.

Born on Sept. 21, 1920, in Senath, Mo., daughter of the late Charles Ceaf and Euna Raines Horner, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cloverdale and worked at Manzanita Manor before retirement.

On Dec. 24, 1939, she married Doyle T. Harris, who preceded her in death on April 6, 1953. She later married James Wilkins, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Kay Harris Soper and husband, Robert, of Napa; one son, Micheal Doyle Harris, of Cloverdale; one brother, Charles Horner and wife, Glenda; one sister, Wilma Wiles, all of Senath, Mo.; four grandchildren, Dawn Soper Lyon, of New York City, Matthew Soper, of Foster City, Calif., Heather and Brandon Harris and three great grandchildren, Aja, Saysha, and Brodie, all of Santa Rosa, Calif.

She was preceded in death by one brother, J.L. Horner. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Cloverdale First Baptist Church. A reception will immediately follow at 96 Hiatt Road, Cloverdale. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in memory of Louise Wilkins to: National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33136, or First Baptist Church, 450 South Franklin, Cloverdale, California 95425.

Josephine Anthony

Josephine Anthony, 32, of Kennett, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Aug. 7, 1969, in Memphis, Tenn., daughter of Arthur Lee Conner, of Memphis, Tenn. and Martha Bell, of Kennett, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Dewayne Anthony, of Kennett; three sisters, Denise Anthony, of Blytherville, Ark., Mary Ann Anthony, of Malden, Mo. and Loretta Moore, of Kennett; two brothers, Jimmy Anthony, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Ray Anthony, of Milwaukee, Wis. and a special friend Franklin Perry of Cape Girardeau.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Community Temple Church of God In Christ with Bishop Don Robinson officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Jimmy, Dewayne and Steve Anthony, Chris Hendrix, Franklin Perry and Tracy Brown.

Verla Edwards

Verla Louise Edwards, 71, of Kennett, Mo., died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at her home in the Friendship Community after a long illness. Born Feb. 16, 1931, daughter of the late Edgar and Ethel Dye of Frisbee, Mo. She married Reverend Donald H. Edwards on March 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1997. She was a homemaker and a Baptist Minister's wife and a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Sue Crawford and her husband, Don, of Kennett, with five children and twelve grandchildren; her only son, Dr. Michael Don Edwards and his wife, Sharon of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and their three children and one grandchild; daughter, Connie Elaine Reid and her husband, Bill of Sikeston, Missouri, daughter, Lianne Long and her husband, Robert of Kennett, and their daughter, Cheyenne.

Other survivors are two brothers, Ralph Dye of Garland, Texas and Carl "Sonny" Dye of Monette, Arkansas, 1 sister, Vickie Ann Crawford of Kennett and several neices and nephews. Four brothers preceded her in death.

Memorials may be donated to Hospice and VNA.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Perry Clark and Richard Bray officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Mike Crawford, Terry, Ricky and Dave Dye, Carroll Dean Crawford and Scott Miskelley.

William Henderson

William M. "Bill" Henderson, 67, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the Portageville Nursing Home in Portageville, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw-Osburn Funeral Home of Hayti.

William Hill

William Edison Hill, 82, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Dec. 3, 1919, in Black Oak, Ark., son of the late Jess David and Martha Jane Boyd Hill, he was of the Baptist Faith . On Oct. 7, 1943, in Piggott, Ark., he married Mildred Louise Brewer, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1997 . Survivors include five daughters, Carolyn and Wilma Goode and Gayle Atchely, all of Malden, Sharon Hill, of Dexter, Mo. and Joanie Sliger, of Quincy, Ill. ; five sons, William and Donnie Hill, both of Campbell, Mo., Freddie Hill, of Portageville, Mo., Gary Hill, of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Hank Hill, of New Madrid, Mo.; one brother, Rev. Albert S. Hill, of Flint, Mich.; 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Fannie Story, Josie Elam, Julie Willoughby and Martha McCallister and one brother, Jess A. Hill.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 3, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Perry Clark and Martin Goode officiating.

Lola McIntosh

Lola McIntosh, 86, of Campbell, Mo., died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare South in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Charlean Ellis

Charlean Ellis, 35, of Kennett, died today, Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Velma Figgins

Velma Ruby Figgins, 93, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Caruthersville Nursing Home, in Caruthersville.

Born Dec. 4, 1908, in Morley, Mo., daughter of the late Harvey Ernest and Carrie Bryant Robinson, she was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville.

On Aug. 27, 1927, she married Elihu Knox Figgins, who preceded her in death in Nov. 1979. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include three sons, Robert Figgins, of Eustis, Fla., John Figgins, of Caruthersville and Chris Figgins, of Augusta, Ga.; three daughters, Hazel Manley, of Caruthersville, Helen Meek and Debra Griffin, both of Dyersburg, Tenn.; two brothers, Bill Robinson and Bob Robinson, both of Denver, Colo.; three sister-in-laws, Laura Figgins, of Searcy, Ark., Doris Robinson, of Burlington, Colo. and Marjorie Robinson, of Denver; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 3 at the Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville with Mike McDaniel officiating.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Steve, Gary, and Kevin Meek, David Manley and Trevor, Johnny, Bobby and Luke Figgins.
