Marshall Thomas

Marshall Henry Thomas, 94, of Cooter, Mo., died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at his residence.

Born Jan. 25, 1908, in Bells, Tenn., son of the late David Braden and Iona Cox Thomas, he was a farmer and a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter. He served on the Cooter School Board, the Commissiom of Special Road District, Board of Special School District and was founder of No. 8 cemetery Corporation.

On Dec. 25, 1927, he married Ludie Blessing, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Jerrell Thomas, of Los Altos Hills, Calif. and Kenny Thomas, of Blytheville, Ark.; five daughters, Maxine Johnson and Nina Lynn, both of Blytheville, Shirley Johnson, of Cooter, Mary Frances Buus, of Yucaipa, Calif. and Margie Hester, of Steele; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Myrle Thomas; two brothers, T.C. and David Thomas and one sister, Lucille Williamson.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 2, at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter.

Burial was in the Number Eight cemetery at Cooter.

Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Warrington

Kenneth Wayne Warrington, 42, of Kennett, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born Aug. 16, 1959, in Kennett, he was the son of James Warrington, of Holcomb, Mo. and Jeris Warrington, of Kennett.

Survivors also include one brother, Jim Warrington, of Kennett; one sister, Jan Robertson, of Kennett and four nieces, Lindsay and Jaime Warrington and Jill and Jonna Robertson, all of Kennett.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 2, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Spencer Furby and Finis Caldwell officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Max Averett, Rick Gore, Larry McDowell, Ron McNew, Joe Slicer and Mike Vance.

Honorary pallbearers were Lindsay and Jaime Warrington and Jill and Jonna Robertson.

R.D. Woods

R.D. Woods, 79, of Malden, Mo., died Monday, July 1, 2002, at St. Anthonys Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Malden.

Nora Cannon

Nora Cannon, 82, of Kennett, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Born July 6, 1919, in Monette, Ark., she was the daughter of the late John N. and Nora Simpson Miller.

Survivors include one son, Don Cannon, Jr., of Kennett; one daughter, Donna Pelts, of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Miller and one sister Mildred Von Feldt.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 3, with the Rev. Bill Fox officiating.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Faith United Methodist Church.

Nebraska Denson

Nebraska Denson, 106, of Kennett, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Oct. 8, 1895, in Lacon Ala., daughter of the late Frank Dunaway and Mary Jean Hart, she was a member of the Ely Baptist Church in Kennett.

She married Andrew Denson, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Oscar D. and Hollis Denson; one daughter, Hildridge Johnson and all brothers.

Survivors include four daughters, Hazel Baker and Willa Mae Haraway, both of Kennett, Bobby Okerleen Cunningham, of Parma, Mo. and Joann Fitterling, of St. Louis, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and eight great-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Don Slatton and Bob Medlock officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden, Mo.

Pallbearers were the grandsons.

Anna Fuller Anna Joyce Fuller, 68, of Kennett, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born June 7, 1934, in England, Ark., daughter of the late Augie Dee and Belle Harness Campbell, she was a member of the Varner River Baptist Church.

On Feb. 16, 1957, she married Glenn Fuller, who preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 2001. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Odus, Raymond, Earmol, Clarmol, Edward A., Harold and Jack Campbell.

Survivors include one son Terry Fuller, of Kennett; four daughters, Nancy Williams, of Holcomb, Mo., Glenda Reynolds, of Richmond, Mo., Lisa Lawless, of Kennett and Barbara Martin, of Jonesboro, Ark.; one sister, Bernice Ivie, of Kennett; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Lonnie Mittag and Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers were Henry, Lanny and Danny Broglin, Richard Rickman, Bob Holder and Rodney Emmons.

Diane Gill

Diane Gill, 49, of Kennett, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at her residence.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at the St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, at the St. Cecelia's Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Elmwood cemetery in Blytheville, Ark.

Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice in Kennett.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Lance

Paul L. Lance, 67, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born Aug. 10, 1934, in Kennett, son of the late Clarence and Florence Crowdy Lance, he was a U.S. Army veteran.

On July 2, 1971, he married Norma Taylor Coleman, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one step-son, Stephen G. Coleman, of Little Rock, Ark.; one step-daughter, Pamela Skinner, of Jonesboro; one nephew, Billy Ray Lance, of Arlington, Tenn. and three grandchildren, Brian and Candi Skinner, of Jonesboro and Lauren Coleman, of Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Lance.

Fiuneral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 3, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Johnson officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Jack and Gerald Lance, Floyd Wallace, Tom Carter, Ray McClintock and Bruce Primm.

Jerold Lester

Jerold "Leon" Lester, 75, of Cardwell, Mo., died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at his residence.

Born March 26, 1927, in Cardwell, son of the late William Linsey and Minne Sanders Lester, he was a U.S. Army veteran, a farmer and a member of the Forrest Grove Baptist Church.

He married Beulah "Boots" Sissom, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, C.S. and J.R. Lester and two sisters, Vinne Ransom and Dessie Vaughn.

Survivors include two daughters, Alice Blankenship and husband, Danny, and Joy Wicker and husband, Dale, all of Cardwell; grandchildren, Kyle and Julie, Kurt Blankenship and Stephen Hill; one great-grandchild, Shelby; two sisters, Captola Lambert, of Cardwell and Bessie Tracer, of Rector, Ark.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 3, at the Heath Funeral Home in Paragould, Ark.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4, at the Cardwell cemetery with the Revs. Kenneth Hargraves and Arlie Epley officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Cardwell cemetery Road Fund.

Jerry Redwine

Jerry Redwine, 63, of Kennett, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at his residence.

Born Oct. 1, 1938, in Kennett, son of Ellen Elizabeth Bizzle Redwine, of Kennett and the late Harry D. Redwine, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a school teacher.

On Sept. 24, 1978, in Dyersburg, Tenn., he married Linda Ritz, who survives of the home.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Pallbearers were Howard Carney, Jim Toombs, Ken Shumate, Mark Wallace, Ron Poe and Jerry McCulley.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the VNA Hospice of Kennett.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.

Waldene Toone

Waldene Toone, 78, of Rector, Ark., died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at his residence.

Born March 31, 1924, in Greene County, Ark., he was a farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Toone, of Rector; one son, Ricky Toone and wife, Sharon, of Rector and one grandchild, Jessica Lee Ann Toone, of Rector.

He was preceded in death by one brother, W.R. Toone and two sisters, Hazel Thomas and Jewell Toone.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 3, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at the First United Methodist Church in Marmaduke, Ark. with the Rev. Kelly Craft officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodland Heights cemetery in Rector.

Pallbearers were Andy and Dale Vangilder, Donnie Reynolds, Lindell and Monty Stallings and Harry Gibson.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill and James Vangilder and David Munick.
