Thelma Hedges

Thelma Irene Hedges, 87, of Seattle, Wash., died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at West Branch, Mich.

Born May 24, 1915, in Pemiscot County, Mo., daughter of the late W.C. and Eva Metzger McAnally, she was a member of the Fullerton Baptist Church and of the Ladies Aid.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Kalasz and husband, Steve, of St. Helen, Mich.; two sons, Ralph Hedges, and wife Pat, of Fullerton, Calif. and Jerry Hedges and wife, Mary Jo, of Seattle; one sister, Janey Turner, of Hayti, Mo.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, W.C. McAnally and two sisters, Juanita Brooks and Algene Wintle. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at the Dry Bayou Baptist Church in Concord with the Rev. Stan Smith officiating.

Burial was in the Dry Bayou cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Walt and David Turner, Danny and Charles Hedges and Jeff and Brandon Cousins.

John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.

Janet Lee

Janet L. Hayes Lee , 40, of Kennett, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Kennett.

Born Feb. 9, 1962, in Kennett, she was the daughter of Patsy Hayes, of Kennett and the late Clifton Hayes.

Survivors also include one daughter, Tara Davidson, of Kennett; two sisters, Laura Rickman, of Kennett and Lisa Parrish, of Clarksville, Tenn. and two grandchildren, Hannah and Taron Davidson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial was in the Piggott cemetery at Piggott, Ark. Pallbearers were Randy Wright, Ray Kizer, Jackie Lee, Lee Frazie, Tom Preston and Andy Parrish.

W.C. Martin

W.C. "Dub" Martin, 72, of Holland, Mo., died Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. Born Sept. 28, 1929, in Holland, Mo., son of the late W.C. "Pete" and Ruby Jackson Martin, he was a carpenter. On Nov. 12, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., he married Cqumela Copeland, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one daughter, Judy Gail Ketchum, of Steele, Mo.; two sons, Dale Martin and wife, Cheryl, of Steele and Todd Martin and wife, Angie, of Cabot, Ark.; three brothers, Monroe Martin, of Kennett, Joe Martin, of Steele and Floyd Martin, of College Station, Texas; one sister, Carlene Brewer, of Jonesboro, Ark.; six grandchildren, Jessica, Heath and Anna Martin, Stephanie Pierce, Kristy Johns and Laura Ketchum and one great-grandchild, John Tucker Pierce.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce Martin. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Assembly of God Church in Steele with Bro. Charles Clark officiating.

Burial was in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens at Caruthersville, Mo.

Pallbearers were Joe Wayne, Dave, Mark, Carl, Heath and Robert Martin, Jason Brewer, Sean and Wayne Still, Nick Copeland, Gary Ozment and Duston and Kyle Crawford.

John W. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.

Donald Springer

Donald Neel Springer, 69, of Portland, Ore., died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Providence Medical Center in Portland. Born Oct. 15, 1932, in Hornersville, Mo., son of the late Raymond and Vercie Allen Springer, he was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean War.

He married Stephanie Akin, who survives of the home. Survivors also include two sisters, Ena Christian, of Hornersville and Betty Wronka, of College Station, Texas and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Wayne Springer and one nephew, Mike Springer.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 28, in Portland.

Harold Stafford

Harold Dean "Birdie" Stafford, 67, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Three Rivers HealthCare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Sept. 27, 1934, in Malden, son of the late Thomas and Gertie Paul Stafford and foster son of the late Mann and Ruth Crowder, he was a U.S. Army veteran, a Malden city councilman and a past member of the Malden American Legion. He worked at Brown shoe comapny and was of the Christian faith. On Feb. 13, 1971, in Malden, he married Betty Hoggard, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two daughters, Kristi Burks, of Jackson, Mo. and Ruth Ann Stafford, of Malden; two brothers, Jerold and Jack Stafford, both of Malden; one sister, Margaret Burge, of Malden and one granddaughter, Allyson Hope Stafford, of Malden.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Theodore Stafford and one sister, Marilyn Kilgo.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 23, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Richard Blagg officiating.

Burial with military rites were held at the Rosewood cemetery in Malden.

Brady Waddell

Brady Lee Waddell, infant son of Gary and Jackie McGrew Waddell, of Hornersville, Mo., died Sunday, July 21, 2002 at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Survivors also include one brother, Mike Thomas Hosiet, of Hornersville; maternal grandparents, Harold and Jackie McGrew, of Hornersville; paternal grandparents, Troy and Ethel Waddell, of Cardwell, Mo.; one aunt, Virginia McGrew, of Leachville, Ark. and two uncles, Tommy and Harold Lewis McGrew, of Hornersville.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Jack and Ruth Cole.

A private memorial service was held Monday, July 22 with the Rev. Harold Dunbar officiating.

Burial was in the Horner cemetery.

Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home of Hornersville was in charge of arrangements.

Dorotha Campbell

Dorotha Vergie Campbell, 68, of Elsberry, Mo., died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at her residence.

Born Jan. 18, 1934, in Paragould, Ark., she was the daughter of the late William Albert and Alta Virgie Richie McGue.

On Dec. 6, 1950, in Piggott, Ark., she married Clyde Andrew Campbell, who preceded her in death on April 15, 1982. She was also preceded in death by one son, Terry Campbell; three brothers, Johnie, Bill and Dub Damron and two sisters, Louise Evans and Hazel Damron.

Survivors include one son, Gerald Campbell and wife, Debra, of O'Fallon, Mo.; two daughters, Dorotha Kennedy and husband, of Windfall, Ind. and Ann Honse and husband, Michael, of O'Fallon; three brothers, A.W. McGue, Hughy Damron and Alvie Wilcox; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath, Mo., with the Rev. Allie Mae McKnight officiating.

Burial was in thne McGrew cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Kennedy, Sean and Michael Honse, David Campbell, Tracy Cottrell and Fred McKnight.

Edgar Hendrix

Edgar Hendrix, 88, of malden, Mo., died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at the Ridgeview Nursing Center in Malden.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden.

Christine Smith

Christine Lemons Smith, 57, of Kennett, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at her residence.

Born Dec. 16, 1944, in Hermandale, Mo., daughter of the late Rufus and Rosie Armour Lemons, she was a nurses aid and a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Kennett.

She married Daniel Smith, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Smith and Cassandra Riley, both of Kennett; two sons, Stacey Smith and Harold Lemons, both of Kennett; five brothers, Edward, John, Johnnie Elbert, David and Robert Lemons; two sisters, Catherine Williams and Blanche Shaw and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Friday, July 26, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Andrew McNear officiating.

Burial will follow at the New Hope cemetery in Yarbro, Ark.

Janice Ashley

Janice Ray Ashley, 44, of Gobler, Mo., died Saturday, July 26, 2002, at Gobler.

Arrangements are incomplete with McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett.

Edgar Hendrix

Edgar William Hendrix, 88, of Malden, Mo., died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Ridgeview Nursing Center in Malden.

Born July 29, 1913, in Leasburg, Mo., son of the late William and Anna Leeora Hendrix Jones, he was a member of Stokelan Drive Christian Church in Malden.

On July 9, 1993, in Malden, he married Geraldine De Michele Cutrell who survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Don Hendrix of St. Charles, Mo. and Edgar Wayne Hendrix of Winfield, Mo.; three daughters, Virginia Lee "Penny" Mohapp and Carol Ruth Hendrix, both of St. Louis and Nancy Elizabeth Scheffler of Corning, Ark.; three step-sons, Bill Patterson of St. Louis, John Cutrell of Scott City, Mo., and Samuel Cutrell of Malden; one step-daughter, Ellen Park of Malden; three sisters, Mary Leach of Fredericktown, Mo., Toby Johnson of Madison, Mo. and Ella Mae Kitsis of Manchester, Mo.; 18 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Patricia Campbell and two grandsons, James William Owens and Chad Russell Hendrix.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, in the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden and continues until services at 2 p.m. Dan Hargrave and John Cutrell will officiate.

Burial will be in Rosewood cemetery in Malden.

Janice Ashley

Janice Ray Ashley, 44, of Gobler, Mo., died Friday, July 26, 2002 in Gobler.

Born March 28, 1958, at Hayti, Mo., she was a daughter of Connie Jean Prickett Petrucz of Glendale, Ariz. and the late Paul Nunnery Sr.

She married Lethal G. Ashley who preceded her in death July 9, 2000.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Decker of Gobler; two sisters, Brenda Pardee and Robbie Grecco, both of Medford, Ore.; three brothers, Paul Nunnery, Jr. of Hornersville, Mo., Wayne Nunnery of San Antonio, Texas and George Petrucz of Glendale and two grandchildren, Tony and Brianna Decker.

No funeral services are planned.

Marie Clark

Marie Clark, 82, of Senath, Mo., and formerly of the Murray, Texas area, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.

She was born Sept. 5, 1919 in Murray, Texas, a daughter of the late Archie Clade Golden.

She married William Douglas who preceded her in death in 1976. She then married Harold "Tip" Clark who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Violet Golden Ewing and three brothers, Joe Chester and Floyd Golden.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Lewis and his wife, Jeana, of Senath and Bob Lewis and his wife, Debbie, of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Lily Golden Rice and Clera Golden Lowman and one brother, Arthur Golden and five grandchildren Jenifer Branum, Jay, Rob, Kim and Tiffany Lewis.

Furneral services were today, Tuesday, July 30, at the Morrison Funeral Home in Graham, Texas.

Burial was in the Murray cemetery in Murray.
