Betty Joyce Dent
Aug. 23, 1931 - Feb. 9, 2001
Betty J. Dent was born Aug. 23, 1931 in a farmhouse south of Rocky Comfort. She passed away Feb. 9, 2001. She was of the Baptist faith.
Betty worked 14 years on a dairy farm in Kansas and nine years in a garment factory in Missouri.
She married Ray Dent in 1960. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Gray of Wichita, Kan.; her husband, James; three grandsons, Kevin Brannan and his wife, Melissa, Jeremy Brannan and Christopher Brannan; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Anthony Brannan; one sister, Norma Prewitt of Wheaton, Mo.; and one brother, Don Richmond of Newton, Kan.
Services were held graveside at Rocky Comfort Cemetery Feb. 12, 2001 under the direction of Wheaton Funeral Home.

Earnest D. Mason
Feb. 2, 2001
Earnest D. Mason, 72, Shawnee, Kan., passed away at his home Friday, Feb. 2, 2001.
Services were held Monday at the First Baptist Church of Shawnee with burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held Sunday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Shawnee.
Mr. Mason was born in Goodman, Mo., and lived in the Shawnee area since 1937. He was a retired sheet metal worker for J and L, Inc. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee, Sheet Metal Workers Local #2 and was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of the home; two sons, Rick Mason of Shawnee and Eric and his wife Chandall Mason of Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, Melanie and her husband Darrell Stevens of Spring Hill, Kan., and Vicki and her husband David Watson of Briston, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Neely of Kansas City, Kan., and Lorene Dunbar of Kansas City, Mo.

June Marie Pogue
May 19, 1921 - Feb. 6, 2001
June Marie Pogue, 79, of Anderson, Mo., passed away, Feb. 6, 2001 at Naples, Fla.
June was born May 19, 1921 in Dent County, Mo., to the late Clark and Lucille Halbrook. She spent the first 14 years in Salem, Dent County, Mo., then moved to Neosho where she attended and graduated from Neosho High School.
She married Joe H. Pogue Feb. 18, 1949 in Bentonville, Ark. He survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Larry, Joey Warren, John Henry; one daughter, Mary Jane Montagut; four grandchildren, Angela Love, Julie Breckenkamp, James Terrell Pogue, Cozette Tatum Montagut; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Breckenkamp, Conner Breckenkamp; one brother, the Rev. Kenneth Halbrook of Nicholasville, Ken.
The memorial service for June Pogue was held Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 at the First Baptist Church in Anderson, Mo. Tom Ellis officiated.
The family requests memorial contributions be given to: First Baptist Church, Larry Pogue Art Scholarship Fund at East Central Community College or Crowder College Foundation Art Scholarship in care of the Ozark Funeral Home.

Marie Goodall
Nov. 10, 1925 - Feb. 3, 2001
Mrs. Marie Goodall, 75, of the Southwest City, Mo., area died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 at 1:15 p.m. at Grove General Hospital in Grove, Okla., after a fall and sudden illness.
Mrs. Marie Goodall was born Nov. 10, 1925 in Seneca, Mo., to the late William Earl and Eliza (Bland) Martin. She had lived in the Southwest City are since 1958. She had also lived in Jay, Okla., and went to high school there. She attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jessie Glenford Goodall, who died Dec. 1, 1991, her son Earl Lee Martin, who died Sept. 12, 1986, and one brother, Billy Joe Martin.
Surviving is one brother, James Bland Martin of Columbus, Ga., and one sister, Lula Conway of Lawton, Okla.
Graveside services for Mrs. Marie Goodall were held Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 at the Bland Cemetery in Wyandotte, Okla. Chief Leaford Bearskin conducted the Indian rites.
Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City, Mo., where the family received friends.

Myrtle Nichols Anderson
March 8, 1916 - Feb. 5, 2001
Mrs. Myrtle Anderson, 84, of Jane, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at 1:30 a.m. at her home after an illness.
Mrs. Myrtle Anderson was born March 8, 1916 in Jane, Mo., to the late David Nichols and Josie Sears Nichols of Jane, Mo. She had lived in the Jane are all of her life. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, and was loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Anderson was the oldest living member of the Simsberry United Methodist Church and served Communion for 37 years.
She was the loving wife of Murrel Anderson for 67 years; loving mother to M.L. Anderson of Noel, Mo., Bill Anderson of Jane, Mo., Jack Anderson of Anderson, Mo., Joyce Marrs of Jane, Mo., and Joan Whitehead of Carthage, Mo.; loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was a loving sister to Kathryn Lofts of Grove, Okla., and Leona Crumb of Spiro, Okla.
Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Anderson were held Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at the Simsberry United Methodist Church in Jane, Mo. The Rev. Kay Mills and the Rev. Ray Rumbo officiated. Burial was at the Jane Cemetery in Jane.
Pallbearers were John Anderson, John Wabaunsee, Roger Meppin, Troy Henson, Bill Bena and Freddie Banks.
Visitation was held Feb. 7, 2001 at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, where the family received friends.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Simsberry United Methodist Church or Quality Hospice in care of the funeral home.

Ruth Van Every
Feb. 9, 1915 - Feb. 11, 2001
Ruth Van Every died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 at a local nursing home. She was born Feb. 9, 1915 in Wardlaw, Ark., which is now Bella Vista, child of Charles Clarence and Mary Ellen McCool Wardlaw.
She was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and making quilts to give to her family and friends. She was also a charter members of the Rogers Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Loy Van Every of the home, who she married in 1941; one son, Leslie Jack Van Every; and his wife, Sharon, of Norman, Okla.; two brothers, W. J. Wardlaw of Stella, Mo., Ronnie Wardlaw of Pineville, Mo.; numerous nephews and nieces; and numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Graveside services were held Feb. 13, 2001 at Wardlaw Cemetery near Brightwater, Ark. Elder George Panter officiated. Music was by Emily Combs.
Visitation was held Feb. 13 at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers, Ark.
Memorials may be sent to Meals on Wheels in Rogers, Ark.

Hope M. Banta
Oct. 3, 1974 - Nov. 29, 2001
Hope M. Banta, 27, was killed Nov. 29, 2001, just north of Danbury, Iowa.
She is survived by two daughters, Kiali, 9, and Alanna, 5, of Oto, Iowa; her mother and stepfather, Donna and Dan Reisdorph of Anderson, Mo.; a brother, Alan Reisdorph of Jay, Okla.; a sister, Tami of Oto, Iowa; her dad, Doug Kirkpatrick of Madison, Texas; maternal grandparents, Tuck and Kathy Banta of Oto, Iowa; and paternal grandparents of Mapleton, Iowa.
