Lyle Edward Warner
Sept. 28, 1927-Nov. 16, 2006
Lyle Edward Warner, 79, of Southwest City, Mo., departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at the Siloam Springs Nursing Center and Rehab in Siloam Springs, Ark.
Lyle entered this life on Sept. 28, 1927, in Brainerd, Minn., son of the late David and Eldora Warner. He resided most of his working life in the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Lyle worked a few years for the Sioux Railroad and in 1993 retired from the city of Brainerd as a heavy equipment operator. On March 26, 1999, he was united in marriage to Mildred Irene Easter and together they shared the last seven years. He enjoyed music and loved the great outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fishing. Lyle also attended worship services at the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia Warner; an infant daughter, Linda Lou Warner; a daughter, Linda Ann Warner; two brothers; and two sisters.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Mildred Warner of the home; a granddaughter, Kelsi Warner of the home; two daughters, Betty Robinson and husband, Oliver, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Sue Chartrand of the state of Wisconsin; four step-daughters, Peggy Wilsey and husband, Ed, of Southwest City, Mo., Linda Hart and husband, Richard, of Southwest City, Mo., Sandra Holt and husband, Alan, of Jay, Okla., and Cheryl Howe and husband, Mike, of Southwest City, Mo.; two step-sons, Jim Easter and wife, Jeanette, of Southwest City, Mo., and Bob Easter of Maysville, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Chester Warner and wife, Josephine, of Brainerd, Minn.; a sister, Emily Hanson and husband, Raymond, of Brainerd, Minn.; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Lyle Edward Warner were 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo., with the Rev. Ray Clanton officiating. Burial was in the Southwest City Cemetery. Arrangements were under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City, Mo.

Clarence Earl Jarvis
June 16, 1915-Nov. 20,2006
Mr. Clarence Earl Jarvis, 91, of Sulphur Springs, Ark., passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville, Ark.
Clarence was born June 16, 1915, to the late James Earl and Edith Elsie (Dawson) Jarvis in Ulysses, Kan. Mr. Jarvis had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area for the past 53 years where he made his living as a farmer on his own farm.
Mr. Jarvis is survived by two sons, Jim Jarvis and wife, Earlene, of Gravette, Ark., and Kenny Jarvis and wife, Linda, of Southwest City, Mo.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Clarence Jarvis were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette, Ark. The family received friends from 5 until 7 p.m Thursday, Nov. 21, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo. Dorothy Jane McCool
June 7, 1912-Nov. 22, 2006
Dorothy Jane McCool of Pineville, Mo., the youngest of five children born to the late Joe and Jane (Hall) Julian, was born on June 7, 1912, in Clinton, Mo. She departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at the Freeman Hospital East in Joplin, Mo., at the age of 94.
Jane was born and raised in Clinton, Mo., and graduated from Clinton High School. Jane was united in marriage to Leland D. Payne and to this union four children were born, Leland, Jr., Dovie, Judy and Julian. She later married Trevis O. McCool on June 11, 1948, and two additional children were born, Trevis and James. She received her bachelors degree in education, a profession she greatly enjoyed. She taught school in McDonald County for several years retiring at the age of 72. She previously taught at Henry County, Mo., Harney County, Ore., and Cassia County, Idaho. Jane was a very independent lady. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, cooking out, painting and collecting unique rocks. She was an active member of the McDonald County Republican Club and followed the Baptist faith throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Leland D. Payne and Trevis O. McCool; a step-son, Thomas Clinton McCool; two brothers, Vance and Elmer Julian; two sisters, Elsie Trainor and Effie Sperry; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild.
Jane is survived by four sons, Leland David Payne, Jr. of Slaton, Texas, Julian Warren Payne and Trevis Joe McCool, both of Jane, Mo., and James Douglas McCool of the state of Oklahoma; two daughters, Dovie Louise Jess of Diamond, Ore., and Judith Ann Barnes of Redmond, Ore.; a step-son, Raymond M. McCool of Goodman, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Dorothy Jane McCool were 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at the Jane Cemetery in Jane, Mo., with the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers were Benjamin McCool, Jared McCool, Brian Mustain, Frank Loncarich, Conan Guthary, Larry McCool and Mike Grey. The family received friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 in the Ozark Funeral Home Chapel in Anderson, Mo. Robert Allen York, Sr.
April 12, 1933-Nov. 21, 2006
Robert Allen York, Sr., 73, of Olathe, Kan., died at his home Nov. 21, 2006, of cancer. He was born April 12, 1933, in Carthage, Mo., and graduated from Carthage High School in 1951. He attended Missouri University and was a graduate of Dallas Institute of Gupton Jones. He retired in 1998 after 26 years as a funeral director and embalmer with D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel in Overland Park, Kan.
He loved his family, his friends and his cat, Lily. He made us laugh and liked to cook for us. He loved music and found Kansas City jazz musicians to be the very best. He is survived by his wife of 47 years. Marilyn; his son, Rob (Leah) of Mililani, Hawaii; his son, Jim (Peggy) of Osawatomie, Kan.; four grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, April and Misty; his brother, Paul York; his sister, JoAnn Lawson; and mother-in-law, Allene Cline. He served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard, two years in the South Pacific on the cutter Kukui. He built a house on Big Sugar Creek near Pineville, Mo., from the ground up with help from family and friends. The screened porch there was a gathering place for many occasions and where he chose to spend any free time after he became ill.
A visitation at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, will be Nov. 30 from 6 until 8 p.m. with a sharing of memories by his friends at 7 p.m. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Dec. 1 in the National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kan. The family suggests memorial contributions in Robert’s memory to Kansas City Kansas Community College where a scholarship fund has been established for students of Mortuary Science c/o D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Overland Park Chapel.

Irene Barnett
July 26, 1920-Nov. 25, 2006
Irene Barnett, 86, of Neosho, Mo., died Saturday afternoon at Freeman Neosho Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born July 26, 1920, in Stella, Mo., to Melvin Lee and Lois (Mosier) Jones.
Mrs. Barnett was a lifelong area resident, homemaker, and member of the Church of Hope, Neosho. She was an active member of Neosho Area Widow to Widow serving as the Sunshine Lady; it was her joy and responsibility to send each member a card on their birthday. She also loved to crochet and travel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling Barnett.
Survivors include one daughter, Christine M. Sumner, Neosho; one son, Paul L. Barnett, Anderson, Mo.; one sister, Maxine Raines, Garden City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Brenda Sager, Paul Tabor, Lisa Ann Rosewicz, Donnie Sumner, Jr, and David Sumner; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Clark Chapel of Memories, Neosho, with the Rev. Malcom Mosby officiating. Pallbearers were David Sumner, Chad Rosewicz, Cori Sager and Tom Horn. Burial followed in Union Cemetery, south of Stella, Mo. Friends called at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Amy Ethel Tompkins
Sept. 24, 1922-Nov. 26, 2006
Amy “Ethel” Tompkins, 84, of Southwest City, Mo., was called home to be with her Lord and Savior at 10:26 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at her home following a sudden illness.
Ethel began her journey on Sept. 24, 1922, in Southwest City, Mo., one of five daughters born to the late Guy and Ruth (Gray) Haley. She was a lifelong resident of Southwest City where she graduated from high school and taught at the Greenwood School. On June 26, 1943, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Edward Tompkins in Southwest City and to this union two children were born. Together she and Lawrence raised their children on their family farm near Southwest City. She worked for O’Brien Farms for several years and retired from Simmons Foods in Southwest City after 17 years of service. Ethel was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and generous friend. She considered her family to be her riches. Above all things in life she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. Ethel enjoyed gardening and sharing her fresh produce with family and friends. She was a longtime dedicated member of the United Methodist Church of Southwest City, where she faithfully served the Lord by teaching Sunday School, current church secretary along with serving on several committees and helping with the local 4-H Club. Ethel made an impact on several lives in our community and will be dearly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Lawrence Edward Tompkins in 1999; along with her parents; two sisters, Mary Morris and her twin sister, Edith Fisher; a daughter, Dorothy Ellen Gelvin; and a great-granddaughter, Tabatha Knight.
Survivors include her son, G.W. Tompkins and wife, Karen, of Southwest City; two grandchildren, Tobey King and husband, Bobby, of Southwest City and Casey Stanley and husband, William, of Bentonville, Ark.; son-in-law Bruce Gelvin of Van Nuys, Calif.; six great-grandchildren, Caitlin Stanley, Matthew Knight, Hanna Stanley, Jacob Stanley, Michael King and Walter Ray King; along with two sisters, Alice Tompkins of Southwest City and Marjorie (Eckel) Rowland of Van Buren, Ark.; as well as a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors who will deeply miss Ethel and her wonderful smile.
Funeral services for Amy Ethel Tompkins will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Southwest City, Mo. The Rev. David Howlett will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City, Mo. Guy Rowland, Bob Morris, David Morris, Barry Tompkins, Dennis Tompkins and Bill Hobbs will honor Ethel’s life by serving as pallbearers.
Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Southwest City, Mo. The family received friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions in loving memory of Ethel can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

Clark Henry Latshaw
Feb. 23, 1917-Nov. 24, 2006
Clark Henry Latshaw, 89, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Jane, Mo, son of the late Edward and Mame (O'Connell) Latshaw, was born on Feb. 23, 1917, in Walden, Kan. He departed this life on Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, in the Heritage Manor Healthcare Center in Plano, Texas.
Preceding him in death was his beloved wife, June Latshaw; a son, John Clark Latshaw; a brother, George Latshaw; and a brother-in-law, Art Redfern.
Clark is survived by his beloved granddaughters; his "girls," Jana Reishus and husband, Paul, of Dallas, Texas, and Nicole Hawkins and husband, Andrew, of Richardson, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Katelin June Reishus, Adam Paul Reishus, Leah Grace Reishus and Teagan John Hawkins. Clark is also survived by the widow of son, John, Tamhra Latshaw of Lake Ozark, Mo.; the mother of his granddaughters, Paula A. Latshaw of Dallas, Texas; a sister-in-law, Virginia Redfern of McKinney, Texas, (formerly of Pineville, Mo.); special nieces, Pam Darnall of Anchorage, Alaska, Pat Bender of McKinney, Texas, and Lorraine Cooper of Citrus Heights, Calif.; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Clark was reared in Pawhuska and Tulsa, Okla., graduating from Tulsa Central High School. He was united in marriage to June Russell on Jan. 5, 1939, and to this union one son, John Clark was born. He farmed in Jane, Mo., during the 40s, moving to Tulsa in the mid-50s where he worked in the egg business. Clark and June returned to Jane in 1964 and he returned to farming. He was active in the Pineville United Methodist Church. Because of illness, he moved to Plano on March 2, 2006, to be near his granddaughters and other family members.
Clark was a kind and generous man, supporting many charities and making individual gifts to those in need. Funeral services for Mr. Clark Henry Latshaw were 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at the Pineville Methodist Church with the Revs. Doris Schlessman and Marilyn O'Brien officiating. Burial followed in the Jane Cemetery in Jane, Mo. Those honoring Clark's life by serving as pallbearers were Andrew Hawkins, Paul Reishus, Dewey Allgood, Robbie Nelson, Willie Griffith and Jess Campbell. The family received friends on Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. in the Ozark Funeral Home Chapel in Anderson, Mo.
